Just received my HDMI cable (http://electroniccrap.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=&products_id=27)from electronicCrap, it works perfectly. It also works as a DVI cable for connecting to business projectors (without sound of course) with a small adapter such as this: http://www.amazon.com/Cables-Unlimited-ADP-3780-Female-Adapter/dp/B0018QTWH2
Great product if you need to do presentations or anything. Just be aware that most apps are fairly low resolution (ie will look pixelated) even if the tablet is outputting a full 1080p signal.
The only minor issue is the connector to the gTab, which is a bit bulkier than what is pictured on his site. This could be a problem with some cases, but it works well with mine (the FUSE).
Update 7/23:
-Cable works great on 1080p monitors and TVs.
-HW accelerated apps display at much higher resolution. Everything else is 1024x600 with poor (pixelated) scaling.
-Cable may not work on 720p TV's.
-May not display HW acclrrated 1080p properly on 720p TV even if other things work
-Audio is stereo only as far as I and others can tell. Does android as a platform even support 5.1?

Just my two cents since receiving this cable.
I have successfully used the cable on my...720p TV with a Froyo, Gingerbread, and Honeycomb rom...games designed for the tegra chip look great also...Software decoded movies suffer from ... pixelation. I have not been able to determine if the HDMI cable or the tegra chip for that matter can process and pass 5.1 audio channels, but regular stereo audio works...
...some [720p] TVs can handle the 1080p input and scale it down, while others cannot.
Lastly, playing a 1080p movie will not output to a 720p TV. For one reason or another when I played both Divx and H264 in 720p or other lower resolutions it showed up fine on my TV, however both Divx and h264 1080p movies just displayed a blank screen while they played fine on the display on the gtab.
Hope this helps some people...

Most (if not all) 720P TVs should be able to accept a 1080P signal and display it as 720P.
$30 seems like a lot of money for a cable.
Better than 50 for the dock just to use the hdmi

True not to mention $7 US shipping and $17 Canadian shipping.
(that said its currently on sale for $23 + shipping).

Actually the dock is $43 shipped world wide (with CC "welcome").
And beside the HDMI cable you get a supplementary charging solution, stand, 2 USB port and LAN port.
I got this cable, but it is not working for me. I have a 720p plasma and am wondering if the Gtab output does not work with 720p TVs. I know the Gtab is detecting the HDMI connection because the sound goes off on the Gtab. But on the TV, all I get is a blank screen saying no signal.
Information to add
Just my two cents since receiving this cable.
I have successfully used the cable on my 50 inch Samsung 720p TV with a Froyo, Gingerbread, and Honeycomb rom. Any graphics that are NOT accelerated by the tegra chip looks VERY pixelated, so bad its almost unusable. However watching movies on a Froyo rom using the hardware decoder look VERY NICE! Also games designed for the tegra chip look great also, ie. Riptide rush. Software decoded movies suffer from the same horrible pixelation. I have not been able to determine if the HDMI cable or the tegra chip for that matter can process and pass 5.1 audio channels, but regular stereo audio worked on my TV. If anyone knows if 5.1 channel audio can be passed I'd love to know.
Additionally, I could NOT get the cord to work on my 32 inch Samsung. I think some TVs can handle the 1080p input and scale it down, while others cannot.
Hope this helps some people and I hope we can get some graphics acceleration for Honeycomb soon...heard someone has a Notion Ink kernel with full graphics acceleration, can that be ported to the gtab?
updated op. cable works great for me on 1080 screens. yes, 30 is a lot for only hdmi. but it is compact and easy to carry compared to the dock. basically we are paying for the r&d costs. I am just glad this thing exists.
Does the cable work with honeycomb roms? And does the power have to be plugged in for the cable to work? I'm having no luck with video showing up on my tv with the HDMI cable hooked up. I running gtabcomb atm.

You needn;t plug the power in. Just connect your Gtablet to your TV via HDMI cable. But i don;t know if it is work with Honeycomb roms..
Got cable to work but you've got to have your tablet turned on before plugging it in.

G Tablet has no hdmi, You need the dock to go with it to connect hdmi Correction Thank You
Hey guys.
Long time G1/G2 user here...just cashed in on the Valentines Deal from T-Mobile and picked up the Amaze.
The associate @ the store here in Wilmington informed me that the Amaze has video out via micro HDMI...and same battery charger as the G2...?
My G2 charger seemed to work in the car, but after opening the one that came with the phone when i got home, I saw it looked a little different.
This was after I was all excited to hook up the phone to my Vizio LCD tv via a micro hdmi cable from newegg, but it didn't seem to want to fit properly. Is there a special cable I need or adapter require to hook up to a TV?
Thanks
You need a mhl adaptor
Sent by accident from my Amaze using Tapatalk
As stated, you need an mhl adapter for hdmi output.
As for the charger, it's a proprietary port on the phone, but it will also work with a traditional microusb cable.

Anyone have any first-hand experience using a proper MHL adapter for the Amaze? I'm very interested in buying one but have seen mixed reviews from this one: http://www.amazon.com/iKross-Jetstre.../dp/B005JZX5LC
I've seen other results on Google but no one really comments on having tested it with their Amaze. I've read reports of people using the HTC MHL adapter on their Evo 3D, saying the video looked pixelated. Has anyone found or used an adapter that worked well?
you can be the guinnea pig.
Hehehe, I'm hoping other guinea pigs who have tested will share!
Thank you guys for responding....appreciate it
I have used an MHL adapter
The one I have is from Tmobile. It works, but I just don't see the practicality of it. I used to have the G2X that required that micro HDMI to HDMI. That just required one cable. This time with the MHL adapter you need to not only have to have the MHL adapter, but you also need a normal HDMI cable and a MicroUSB plug to power the device. Without either you wont get any picture. It works like normal and honestly I don't see any difference between the picture of the Amaze with their MHL adapter and the picture of the G2X with their microHDMI. It works great, but the only set back now is the amount of cables needed for this feature now.
Thank you so much for sharing your experience with the adapter. Could you comment on the picture quality? Does a 1080p movie look 1080p on the TV?
Based on threads here and elsewhere, I found the HTC AC-M500 12-pin adapter (the correct one according to HTC), featuring their proprietary ExtMicro USB plug. I'd tried a generic 5-pin MHL-HDMI adapter from Overstock.com, and sometimes it would work, sometimes not. (I later determined that this was probably the fault of the Dell 24" monitor I have at work.)
There are 7 extra pins in the connector that I frankly don't know if they do anything; in prior threads someone identified them as supporting composite video (yes you read that correctly), stereo audio and a MIC. But the plug fits great, and on a Samsung 27" LED HDTV, the video looks as crisp as you'd expect. Is it worth $30+? Depends upon how often you want to use it. I hope to do presentations and playback with it.
If you want some detailed pics, look to my images posted to WikiCommons.

I'm not sure if it's the player of the Amaze that makes it less appealing or if I just encoded it wrong or if it's the limitations of the picture transfer itself, but it doesn't look "perfect" so to speak. Sometimes there's even a little audio delay that for some reason is more visible on the TV than it is on the phone. It still looks good and I imagine that if the right settings for video encoding come out it will look great, but don't expect BluRay quality from the phone.
I found that my Amaze has trouble playing 1080p without a stutter ... but it does that on the device as well as the external display. I guess those of us who want to do this regularly need to upgrade to the Edge/Endeavor this summer.
The MHL cable I had for my Sensation 4G works for the Amaze, I tried it out last night it worked with no problem.
Important question, when using a typical 5 pin MHL adapter, does the phone transmit audio over HDMI as well?
Along with that, if not, does the 12 pin adapter transmit audio? Thanks guys.

Check Wikipedia for references on MHL ... my reading was that it was just mobile high-definition link ... that is, a way of getting hi-def video and audio OUT of the device, not networking IN some peripherals.

I agree. The HDMI connection on my G2x was a lot more simpler. One cord. I am considering being a guinea pig when I get my pay check in a week....
I purchased one of these from amazon.com it works perfectly, but I do agree, microHDMI port would def. be preferable to the extra cord + adapter...
I've never gotten one before.
Are all of them the same, i.e. if I buy one that's for an SGS2 it will still work on this device right? They're all just microUSB to HDMI I'm thinking. Cuz I see some cheap ones for like $7 and I'd rather just get that than spend like $30 on a "good" one that's the same exact ****.
brand means nothing on these. the only thing you need to know to use it is you will have to power the mhl adaptor with your micro usb cable
I've had mixed results with these adapters.
I ordered 2 different cheap adapters from ebay (2 because I read that some dont work with the note) The first one to arrive just didn't want to work tried everything but gave up on it. The second one also didn't work the first couple of times but then suddenly worked. It was ok for about 2 weeks of heavy use then it gave up on me aswel.
Now I have the original Samsung MHL adapter and works every time with no problems. So to answer your question - it's a game of luck unless you pay.
Anyone here using a tested and verified working mhl? I would love to get one myself too.
i was skeptical so i bought one off ebay for like 8 bucks... plugged it in the day i got it and was playing Tekken 3 on my TV via Galaxy note .... works pretty well. There may or may not be a little lag though... (might have been my tv)

Its very crisp and clear. I'm kind of OCD about that stuff and so far I'm pleased with it
It's to be noted though, if you're playing a youtube video outside the web browser the annotations wont show up on the tv, nor will subtitles on a mkv file, unless the subtitles are hardcoded into the video itself.

Hi all,
I'm constructing a heads up display using a pair of MyVu Crystals I have laying around. My problem is that I've only got an iPod connector cable and a standard RCA red, white, and yellow connector. There are HDMI to RCA cables on ebay but in order to use them without a converter, the signal over the HDMI port has to be analog.
Before I buy one, can anyone tell me if the HDMI port on the Photon is capable of outputting such a signal?
Many thanks!

HDMI to RCA cable will not work. I have tried it. I have also tried 3.5mm to RCA. My phone didnt like that and kept pulling up voice command. No display or sound at all on the tv I was trying to use.
Motorola sells an adapter (Motorla VGA Adapter $49.99) for the photon that plugs into the usb port and hdmi port simultaneously and it is says it converts HDMI to VGA to allow connection to projectors and older tv's. VGA is analog and the adapter requires no other power source. Should work if you went: MyVu>Ipod Cable>RCA TO VGA>MOTOROLA VGA ADAPTER>PHOTON.
Brilliant, I'll check that out and post the results later!
Many thanks.

Think that might work? It's a fair bit cheaper than Moto's option. I just wonder about power as presumably that's what the usb port on the moto adaptor is for. On second thought, the Moto adaptor launches webtop which is likely what the USB is for. I'm thinking this HDMI one could work then? All I'm after is mirroring (largely for GPS nav).

Wow, awesome find! Only problem I can see is that you will need an micro hdmi to hdmi for it to fit the photon. You cant plug in the adapter and the access the usb port without muscling it. Might loosen up the sockets and thats no good. This one is better:
cant post link just search micro hdmi male to vga and youll find one same price range
Already has a micro hdmi end , no power supply required either. I am going to purchase this and try it out, I want to mirror my display on my 7 inch car stereo. Torque, netflix & Google navigation is going to look sick. There is no sound from this but you can run 3.5mm jack out.
Good one, didn't think to look for a micro ended one as I've already got an adaptor. I may go that way as well.
I'll make sure to pop a post up with my badass GPS driving microdisplay.
Ok, I ordered mine last night... sucks its coming from Hong Kong but Ill post up a video once I get it installed!
got the adapter.. hooked it up to a vga to rca out cable and plugged into an analog tv and got a flicker every now and then but no picture. Connected it to the Analog input on my LG 55inch LED and I get a scrolling picture in black and white only. Will try a couple different cables, the rca cable on the adapter looks like it might also take a 3.5mm jack also has a svideo out, havent tried to hook up to car yet but will and will report back.

I'm still waiting on the VGA to S-Video/RCA so will report back.
Maybe you've got a problem with an unsupported resolution? RCA can only go up to 640x480 right? Is there any way we can force the mirroring resolution to go lower?
Yes, Mirror resolution.apk and some modding. Look in Hybrid rom thread, there is link for that.
Thanks mate.
I'll give it a go and report back. I got my VGA to RCA converter and like the other poster have no picture. Will report back after using the resolution fix.

Anyone having issue with the original samsung galaxy s3 EPL-3FHU MHL to HDMI outputing in 1080p at 24Hz.
I currently have a 60" 1080P LCD and a 47" 1080P LCD, when connected with the MHL to HDMI, it will only output to [email protected] which play video fine,
but game or menu have that lag/choppy look to it.
I did try it on a buddy 32" 720P LCD and the MHL output it to 720p @60Hz which display game without the choppiness.
Also test it on a 24" 1080P PC Monitor and MHL output 720p to it. Is there any way to change the MHL configuration so that it will output 720p @60Hz onto my big screen 60" and 47" or even a different Adaptor that will only do 720p.
I heard you can use a samsung galaxy s2 MHL with a 5 to 11 pin adapter, anyone have this combination to test what it output at on a 1080P LCD.
If that s2 MHL with adapter works, I will return this s3 MHL and go that route.
I can only get 1080i on all my devices, all my TVs / Monitors are capable of 1080p 60hz but there was no way of making the S3 output anything except 1080i seems it's quite buggy!!!
If it just could be more improved :S No possible settings on the phone, that sucks. I really wanted to choose the resolution myself. Samsung should work on this problem.1080i sucks on my tv, 720p is 1000 times better.
EDIT: Lolz, wtf?? Just tried to connect to my PC monitor, only get 576p, my monitor is 1680x1050p. And the best thing, no way to configurate the output signal :S
We need an app, or a point in the settings. Only then we can get the max out of our superphone.
And I never hard of that thing, that someone got a galaxys2 mhl connector working with a galaxys3.
What Hz or refresh rate are you guys getting with your 1080i, I have seen a picture of someone showing a 1080p @60Hz with a galaxy s2 MHL adapter. The S2 MHL adapter by itself won't work. You will need a samsung 5 to 11 pin adapter which connect in between the s3 phone and the s2 MHL.
guys, I actually didnt know it, but I have a 11-pin mhl-hdmi-adaptor, to be exactly, this one:
http://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B0080CXSOU/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i00
But I cant connect more devices over the micro-usb slot. I thought that it is possible with this connector, cause it supports USB OTG and MHL at the same time, so what is up with this ****?
Wikipedia said:
11-pin MHL-USB Connector
The Samsung Galaxy S III uses a connector that is similar to the original 5-pin MHL-USB connector, but it uses 11-pins in order to achieve a few functional improvements over the 5-pin design.
It supports the use of USB and MHL simultaneously (note that the new Samsung 11-pin MHL-HDMI adapter also has a USB-OTG port).
Samsung’s Galaxy S III can power the MHL-HDMI adapter. Although this can theoretically also be done with the standard 5-pin micro-USB connector, the Galaxy S III's 11-pin connector is believed to be the first smartphone that supports this functionality.

Has anyone tried overclocking to boost the frame rate? I've had the same problem as everyone else when trying to watch 1080 video on a 46" 1080 TV, but it only skips once every second or two on random intervals. It's JUST enough skipping that you know something isn't right, but almost can't put your finger on it. I may try overclocking to boost it in the next few days. If I do I'll post back with results. For reference, I'm using an ATT GS3 rooted with the stock TW ROM.
I just get 1080I on my 1080P sony Led 55" and 1080I on my Dell 1080P monitor 24"
I rather get 720P than 1080I, but i cannot change it
Better but still an issue.
I just installed the Hyperdrive rom with the kernel that can overclock on my SCH-I535 S3 and tried the official 11 pin Samsung hdmi adapter and was getting 1080 at 30hz witch is better then before. Also my phone was syncing to 30hz. Before it was 1080 at 24hz and the phone was syncing to 60hz witch caused every thing to look extremely choppy. Now games are playable but still could be much better if we had 720 at 60hz.
I'm not sure what changed from the stock rom to Hyperdrive but it seems that the output can be changed some how.
Also I seen that the HTC One S has a kernel (ZeroMHL) that can force there hdmi output to 720 but I don't know if the same method could be applied here.
Edit:
It seems that ZeroMHL fixed the kernel by finding key words and changing the limitations. As a professional I'm a video game programmer but I'm going to try and see if I can modify kernel source to get 720 60hz. If I can do it ill post the kernel / source.
