Help with S6 Edge please!? I'm going insane! - Galaxy S6 Edge Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys, I've owned an S6 Edge in the past.
Due to my fondness, I purchased another one last week (Arrived today).
Damn, it's in mint condition! I purchased it knowing it wouldn't boot.
The guy had a picture of download mode stating it needed firmware/rom.
Not a problem I thought! I went through all this with my past S6 Edge.
I got the phone, got it out the box, thought hmmm... Won't boot, must be dead!
Plugged it in (First issue) I didn't get a charge screen, but a S6 Edge Powered by Android (bootloader screen)
Anyhow, I've flashed the latest stock firmware, continues to bootloader screen and sticks.
I've flashed TWRP and I can enter TWRP, flashed multiple custom roms, still stuck at the bootloader screen.
Flashed the stock firmware with re-partition and a PIT file, still stuck at the bootloader screen.
Any help? Is this phone done for or am I missing something?
This would have been my daily driver after smashing my S9, needed a non contract phone. I LOVED my old S6.
It is a G925F, not sure what firmware it had previously, haven't had a single successful boot.

Try to install Android 5 firmware on it.. And when it's booting up (SAMSUNG LOGO) Click Power+Volume down button.. When it's powered off.. Quickly, Click Power+Home button+Volume up and you will be booted to Recovery Mode.. Click wipe data, cache then reboot system.. Wait till the phone boots completely.. Then, you can flash twrp and custom roms... Tell me if it worked..

Hi mate, I've tried installing (and successfully) Android 7.0. It stays on the 'powered by android' galaxy screen.
I can get into TWRP and install custom roms successfully, just stays on the said screen again.
Also, might be worth noting, when I plugged the phone in to charge it just goes to the same screen mentioned.
If I hold Power and Vol Down while plugged in it will go to the battery and the thunderbolt, just no animation.
Also LEDs not working.

Just do it...Dont plug your phone when ur doing power+volume down thingy..Android 5 firmwares are a little bit different than marshmallow and nougats..So just flash it and you will see the profit

Alright I'll give it a bash!
I could only find 5.0.2 snd 5.11 software, so I'm downloading 5.0.2.
I'll let you know how it pans out, thanks for the replies.

Also, won't I get a bootloader error while trying to flash because it is a lower version?

If you try the Odin3 flash tool?

How long are you leaving it on the bootloader screen after flashing stock? First boot can take 15-30 minutes sometimes

hey just do the following...
Hi...if your problem is still active - not solved! Here a little Note for you that maybe help you to get s6 edge running again.
First you need to start Odin 3.12.03 with Admin rights!!!
Then you could use the Firmware from my Google Drive if you want. Its the German Variant with CSC-DBT
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1pDybynK6_Huu-vjM_azIjgz30IIhlEAP/view?usp=sharing
If you want to use SamFirm by your own. Keep attention that you check the "Binary Nature" !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If not...its just 1,9 Gb and dont work
If yes...its over 2,3 Gb and work fine
shutdown phone with Vol- and Power (keep holding both)
then start into downl mode with Vol- and Home and Power (keep holding all together)
connect phone to usb
after flashing rom the first start could take up to 10-15 mins...not more on stock firmware
if the first start is done and your in the screen where to type your sim pin
power off the phone and unplug usb
start into download mode again
reset Odin and select the twrp.zip into ap
plug usb again
flash twrp with odin
phone restart automatically...just wait the minute
then shutdown and start into twrp recovery with Vol+ Home and Power (keep holding all together)
so good luck man

[Q] Help! Galaxy S2 Problems!

I loaded a build of ICS onto my friend's phone. She then decided she didn't like it and wanted me to restore it to factory. I tried loading the original software back on using various different "official" samsung builds, but the phone is now stuck in a boot loop. The vol up+ power button combo no longer brings up a boot menu; it has "forced upload by key pressing". The only way I can load anything onto using odin is by having the battery out and connected thru usb (then for some reason the phone lets me put in a custom OS).
Idk if it's just the bootloader or what. Please help. I can't afford to buy a phone that's not even mine!

Can you get into recovery?
No it wont.
The volume up combo gives me "forced upload by key pressing" the volume down combo does nothing. The ics build i loaded was for the european gs2. Could that have messed with the mapping?
did you ever manage to solve this? i have a similar problem with my s2
plug your phone into a running pc... its flat. after about half an hour try to boot it into bootloader and restore. good luck!

Hello
did you tried to load an other custom ROM with Odin ?
there is the chance to get back the recovery menu and you can reset everything.
i have just exp with I9000 but there it was worked to do a factory reset, wipe all cache and you can try to reset battery related info also under advanced option in recovery
then plug your phone to charger switched off, when show full, remove the charger and plug it back immediately, and wait again to see when it is show full
then try to boot your phone with the new custom rom and then can try to change back to original
hope that's help
Hi Abantai
Odin should work but it has been long time so i guess you already solved the problem at some point.

Root or no root?

It's still very early an I see a few people going stir crazy over finding a way to root their phones. I for one am not sure I want to root just yet, the reason being Samsung pay. If it's going to be as awesome as they say it will be I don't wanna miss out due to tripping Knox.
Now I do love flashing and all things root related but I'm willing to hold out.
What about you? Root or no root? Why?
I root right away even if I don't have a "good" reason too. Its the because I can. I don't really care about the tripping knox thing I guess because if you have insurance there is always a chance the device could get "broken". Then you don't have to worry about if its tripped or not. Thats the position Samsung has put me in I wouldn't typically do something like that. So ya now I'm just waiting for TWRP then I will try and make a ROM.
I tried to use chainroot, and got stuck on the logo screen. normally you'd battery pull, go to recovery and wipe data. but i can't find any way to shut down the phone, before doing power-upVol-home.
And now i've tried to odin a stock recovery to undo chainroot, odin fails. could re-run odin with auto-reboot off, but again, no way to shut off and go to recovery.
at this point i'm stuck with the blue screen asking me to use smart switch on PC to do emergency recovery. but smartswitch says the device is not recognized.
thoughts? thanks!
I don't care about warranty just samsung pay. I heard it was harder to make roms with exinos is that true?

That sucks bro. I feel your pain. What happens if you press volume down, power and home for like 30 seconds?

Not sure what device you have but there was a video that said not to use the edge version of the root, and to use the regular S6 version. Running the S6 version will fix your broken device. Take this with a grain of salt, I'm just telling you what I saw. I will post the video link if I get a chance.
PS not sure if this actually helps you or not..
Rooting broke Google Play Movies on my phone, battery life was miserable and phone never went to sleep. After I unrooted everything went back to normal. So I am not going to root and just wait until things are cleaned up.
Every phone I've ever had has been rooted as soon as I got it. Not this time though, because of Samsung Pay.
If rooting breaks Samsung Pay, I'll never root the phone

not for me right now: i have the turquoise error screen telling me to use smart switch. volDown + power for 7 seconds turns the screen off... and then right back on a couple seconds later. and i can't seem to slip in the recovery key sequence during that gap.
volDown + power + home is a diff story: that brings me into download mode. but i don't have anything that works in odin right now without failing. very possible that i don't have the correct rom, or that the rom is fine but i just need to go into recovery mode to complete, but i can't seem to do that!

How about volume up+power+home to stock recovery to perform a factory reset?
No root for me I'm afraid! If I root this device I lose my nfc payment app (Semble) as it checks for root and locks the app if it's detected. Besides I've rooted every other phone I've had since iPhone Gen 1 and I don't really have the time anymore now I've got a 1 year old boy!

Why is ODIN failing? Drivers installed? Where did you get this recovery? If ODIN can see your device you flash back to unrooted stock firmware.
Also, someone mentioned that you can Vol down + power will shut the device down. As soon as the screen goes black take your finger off the power button, press and hold Vol up + home then press power. You can go right from download mode to recovery with just the buttons.
great questions:

1. i got them from mobile.com/firmwares/database/SM-G925F/
I would love to hear if this is a good source. also, I don't know if it matters exactly which of those firmwares to choose (there are many, you choose country and carrier)-- i don't know which one came with this phone as it was sent as a demo to me and i didn't take a screen shot of the info screen (does it matter?)

2. that doesn't work for me, tried 15 times. I'm stuck with this turquoise error screen telling me to use emergency recovery in smart switch. i can easily get over to dload mode too. From either place, volDown + power gets the black screen and then immediately goes right back to the turquoise error screen, ignores anything else i seem to press, can't get into recovery.
No root for me either. It's hard lol. I miss it mostly for the adblocker. But I'm too worried that rooting with make it so I wouldn't be able to use Samsung pay when it comes out! If a root method is released that won't trip the KNOX sensor then heck ya, I'll root right away!

Did you ever fix this? I'm having the same issue, but because I flashed TWRP...
I need to use Smart Switch, but that says my device is unsupported... SM-G925F
EDIT: Re-flashed root, and all good again!

Help! Phone won't stop rebooting! S6 edge sm-g925i

I woke up yesterday and found my phone dead.
It keeps rebooting and I am stuck on the Samsung logo screen.
The notification light on the upper left side stays on when the phone has power.
I am NOT able to get in recovery mode, but I can get in download mode.
Holding the power button won't turn off the phone, I have to hold volume down + power button to turn it off.
Things that I've tried:
1. Kies and Smartswitch (Succeed! But the phone won't go further than the Samsung logo screen and it continues to reboot and reboot)
2. flashing firmware downloaded from sammobile with odin (I've downloaded 3 firmwares, two 6.01 and one 5.11, the two 6.01 work, it says "PASSED," then my phone reboots and it's all the same. It won't go further than the logo screen. The 5.11 one doesn't work)
3. flashing stock recovery and twrp with odin, ( i tried a few versions of those, the worked ones say "PASSED," but I then get recovery is not seandroid enforcing or no message at all, either way I am still not able to get into recovery mode
Please Help!:crying::crying:

Flash the stock 6.0.1 firmware that passes before. When phone is bootlooping hold only POWER AND VOL DOWN. This will power off and boot into safe mode. As soon as it powers on hold HOME POWER AND UP. So you need to hold down and power then as soon as it goes off and boots to galaxy s6 edge powered by android press vol up aswell this should get you to recovery. Wipe data and cache and it should boot up. Keep me updated

See if the charger cable is connected, holding the vol down+power button wouldn't shut down the phone (or maybe it shuts it down but it just reboots itself up immediately again)
I held the vol down+power button, and switched to holding the vol up+home button+power when I saw the logo came up, and while I was holding them, the logo faded and all I had is a black screen. I kept holding it anyway for 2 minutes, nothing happened. :crying:

This is the one that I downloaded before. I extracted the zip, put the phone into download mode and connected it to the pc. Open Odin, press AP and chose the extracted file., "start". It passed and rebooted. But I am still stuck on the logo screen.
I also tried to separate the firmware files into AP and BL with script, it also passed, but I am still stuck!
What should I do?

Yeah they will always show up in download mode.
Try to flash one again, but uncheck auto reboot in odin, after flashing try to boot into recovery. How long did you leave it booting for? Sometimes first boot after flash can take up to 30 minutes.
If not keep trying the combo i said...
Power and down until phone reboots.
As soon as screen comes back on powered by android hold vol up home and power.
You have to be quick with it you have to get the recovery buttons as soon as it boots.
Or try boot into download mode, then as soon as you press up to cancel it phone will boot, as soon as you press cancel do recovery combo

Tab S6 stuck in bootloop, can't get to recovery mode

My Tab S6 tried to auto-install an update yesterday (it is rarely connected to Wifi/internet). It then rebooted. Since then, it's been stuck in a boot loop.
It will display the "Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 | Secured By Knox" logo screen for a few seconds, then switch to the blue "Installing System Update" screen (with the android logo). Installing System Update gets to 28% and stops. Then the rotating icon on the android freezes. Then the device reboots and starts all over again.
Edit: the tablet is 100% stock. It's not been rooted or had any custom ROMs loaded.
I have tried getting to recovery mode, by holding power+volup while it boots. This doesn't seem to change the behavior at all. Any advice is much appreciated.

It's not been rooted or had any custom ROMs loaded.

can you shut it down? try volume down and power button ? if it don't shut down, do this soon as it reboots, hold volume up and down and plug in usb cable to desktop/laptop usb port! it will boot into download mode!

I can't actually shut it down. If I start holding power+voldown right after it boots, the tablet does reboot before getting stuck at 28%. But it reboots--it doesn't power off.
I tried download mode and that actually seemed to work! Specifically, I left the tablet overnight in the reboot loop until the battery drained. Just now, I held down volup+voldown and plugged it into my laptop. I got the green "Warning/Custom OS" screen and then pressed volup to continue. The tablet rebooted pretty quickly after that (I'm guessing due to low battery) so I didn't get a good look at the download mode options.
Once I'm in download mode, can I factory reset the tablet? I don't need to preserve any data/apps/settings.

You cannot reset the tablet from Download mode afaik- You need to enter Recovery Mode to do that.
You can however, flash stock from Download mode using Odin (3.13.3 is best). If you're not confident with doing that, your best option is Factory Reset in Recovery Mode. Hold Volume Up and Power when the Tablet is booting, let go when you see the Samsung logo. The timing can be tricky, but you should be able to do it. Also, you can force a reboot with Volume Down and Power.
Alternatively, if factory reset doesn't work, since you're completely stock, you will still be covered under warrenty.

Thanks for the suggestion. I have tried this many many times. I've tried letting go of the buttons at different times. I've tried holding volup while letting go of power. I've tried this a ton of different ways, and no matter what, the tablet always shows the "Installing system update" screen. Some googling has led me to believe that sometimes, when performing a factory reset, the "Installing system update" screen shows up right before the normal recovery screen. Is it possible that the tablet is trying to get to recovery mode, but can't get past this first step?

Honestly, I don't know - I'm not an expert but I guess it's possible that the update failed and corrupted both System and Recovery.
You'll be covered under warrenty, so maybe just return the Tablet from where you purchased or direct to Samsung, could take a while given the current situation though I guess. If you have a PC, then I think the best option would be to just flash stock yourself, since that's probably all Samsung will do. Even if that doesn't work you'd still be covered under warrenty, as far as I'm aware attempting to flash stock doesn't trip Knox.

Despair not...I have just come from resolving this exact situation not 30 minutes ago. I'd been trying to flash (using Odin as I decided to stay on Stock and not root this device, for a change) the latest OneUI2.1 releases for my device (SM-T865 - LTE version) and boom in the middle of the Odin update, the flash just failed...I then couldn't reboot and get into neither Recovery, nor Download Mode because it appears my bootloader and recovery both got corrupted.
Here's what you need....
1. Odin app for PC (am on Windows)
2. Your device's Stock firmware (sammobile firmware archive)
3. You will need someone to help you boot the device directly into Download mode (and this is the tricky part because for most of us we are used to get into Bootloader by using the key combination (from Powered Off device) Vol+ and Power On at the same time to get into stock recovery and then scrolling down to option 2 in this menu, "Reboot to Bootloader". Well now you are going to boot directly into Bootloader mode. Here's how you do it...
4. Get your friend to line up the USB-C cable into the port of the device, but DO NOT press it in...yet
5. Press Power off and Vol- buttons at the same time to turn off the device
6. And now you have to to be super fast: if device starts to turn on on its own, YOU press and hold Vol+ and Vol- both at the same time while YOUR FRIEND pushes the USB cable fully into the port - you should now have booted directly into Download mode. (if not repeat this, and remember to be super fast and sync with your friend pushing in the USB cable)...
7. When you get into Download mode, then you are home and dry...
8. Select ONLY the Bootloader file (BL...XX...) in Odin, make sure only "reset time" and "reboot" are ticked, and flash
9. When device reboots, press Vol+ and Power combo to get back into Bootloader mode again...but I think device will reboot into Download mode on its own
10. Now select all the files from your Stock file into the various tabs (BL, CP, CSC, AP...) do not select HOME_CSC as we want to flush this device clean...
11. Flash, and voila...success - you will have lost all your data but rather that than losing the device...
12. Feedback here and let us know if this works? For reference for others in the future...
FYI, I got in this situation, and the previous post did work for me, just takes good timing! Thanks!!!!
Same issue today for me. My tablet showed different screen with green and red text, it allowed me to delete app data, then booted into safe mode, then i had to do factory reset and now i am screwed, as it is refusing to restore any apps and their settings. I will try to flash it back to Android 9, maybe then it will do the restore. I forgot to do any manual backup to SD or so.
Edit: the device upgraded to 10, but reset itself after about 10 minutes of use.
Edit2: i found what caused it. It is caused by Nova Launcher, if i try to set wallpaper.
Just found a news article that there is a RGB/sRGB problem with wallpapers. It might be the problem i had.
I am adding a screenshot of the result.
Yeah, I had that kind of reboot loop from a wallpaper that I downloaded

Hi,
Really need your help, after I updated my firmware using Odin, updated BL, AP, CP, CSC, my tab cannot boot up stuck in logo. Doing the Power + volume up leads me to different screen now. I cannot access recovery mode or download page anymore,
What must I do? Pleasssee help. Added the pic, after doing hard reset (power + vol up)
I cannot connect back to Odin also. Always setup connection failed.
Please help. Really messed up big time
Just a thought... Can this be restored from service center?
Thank you in advance.
I have the same problem with a Tab S6 Lite, it is in bootloop and does not let me enter the recovery mode, I can go into download mode and I flashed the latest original firmware Android11, Android10 etc., . I tried them all but always goes in bootloop, and also the bootloop occurs only if I connect the usb cable to the PC, without any sign of life. Do I still have hopes or have I compromised the motherboard?
The reason for all this is because I had followed a guide to give root permissions with magisk, I did everything right, only that the guide was with Android10, while I had Android11 and I was deceived by the fact that in the title of the guide there was written "guide 2021"
, so I did not check the compatibility of operating systems, I was a fool, I know, I hope so much that I did nothing irretrievable, it's my son's tablet!

Download the android 11 last rooted rom from there. You install it with odin as as a normal original rom.
Disable in odin auto reboot. After rom install, restart manually and press the correct buttons immediately to boot in Twrp and not to system. Format (not wipe) data from there and reboot to system. If you are lucky it will work..
(I hope you unlocked bootloader before try to root. If you haven't unlocked bootloader this won't work also).

Flash in odin the same rom you had. There are 2 csc files in rom, which you use 1 in odin one. Try use the "home csc". Home csc keep KEEPS your data. If you're lucky it may work. (It would work in keeping your data 100% if your rom was ok. Because it isn't you have some changes to work.).
You must try with same rom or newer.
CSC – If you flash the CSC file, it’ll perform a factory reset of your Galaxy device and wipe all data while installing a new firmware to bring your device to the same state as it was when you purchased it. Go with CSC if you want a clean installation.
HOME_CSC – On the other hand, if you want to keep your Samsung phone’s data and settings even flashing the stock firmware, you can select the HOME_CSC file.

Tab s6 stuck on "Samsung galaxy tab s6" logo

Hi
yesterday my tab s6 screen got unresponsible without anything else happened..
Then i found out that if i used the pen - the n i could turn it off from drop down menu.
I did that but then when i tried to turn it on it got stuck on that bootloop!
I can not access recovery mode - only download mode.
When i put it on charge it starts booting without showing battery percent and boots over and over until battery is drained.
In download mode i tried to flash Bootloader and firmware - but no luck ( odin proceduce succeded but the tab is still in the same bootloop )..
Still can't reach recovery menu..
Any ideas?
Recovery Mode is tricky to get to on this tablet - The timings of the button presses are difficult to nail. Assuming you weren't trying to flash anything to your tablet prior to it boot looping, I don't see any reason why you couldn't access Recovery Mode.
Reboot Tab by pressing and holding both Power (Bixby) button and volume down. Once screen turns off immediately press Power and Volume Up, let go once you see Samsung logo.

Have you done anything to your tablet prior to bootloop? Tried to flash anything, deleted anything?
Again, there's no reason you shouldn't be able to access Recovery this situation is exactly why it's there.

Then i opened the tab and screen was not reacting - only with pen.
I think the USB debugging is not enabled - is there any ways how to enable it without rooting?
Just tried to install a firmware through download mode - Odin shows "passed" and my tab is still in the same sh** ..:/

"setup connection failed" is a USB error. Try a different cable, or a different port on the computer, or a totally different computer
