I had my Mi A3 (European) for less than a month, and had it in the most protective case I could find. Somehow, the back glass got broken.
Have others found it to be unusually delicate?
I REALLY like the device, otherwise.

May I ask what case you were using?
if it went down or hit it somewhere and touched the sensitive point then it happened.
I am not have any problem with stock silicon case after 2 drops.
I don't like cases in general, but bought some hard shell on Ali just because Mi A3 is like a piece of soap in shower. Already had one drop and so far so good, no cracks no scratches.
It is not that delicate, gorilla glass 5 at the front and back. Something sharp must have hit the phone, impact from a sharp thing can get through the case
That is a very good question. I'm currently running my 2nd Mi A3. Bought my first when it came out in August here , and around the end of october i dropped it from waist height . I was running a case , fairly soft ( little bit harder than the one provided with it) and a tempered glass screen protector . It landed on it's back , no flips at all during the fall. I pick it up , the screen was cracked INTERNALLY ONLY , on the top right corner, while the outside of the phone , including my tempered glass was intact , no scratches at all ....(of course warranty doesn't covers screens, although this crack was a little suspicious due to it's nature ). So, I'm led to thinking that it's durability is a little bit to the down side ....

It doesn't matter if it is Gorilla Glass 5 or just normal tempered glass, glass is glass and glass breaks; just don't drop it, nonetheless I recommend a good and robust case, I use a shockproof one; a friend of mine, bumped into my phone by accident, hitting a wall, then the ground, not a big impact, however the A3, remained intact.

You misunderstood me......The glass didn't break at all ...not the gront, not the back , not the protector ....the internal amoled panel broke .......from a drop an it's back WITH a case ...so yes, I think it is unusually delicate hahaha

I just noticed that my camera already has a few minor scratches. As does my screen after like 2 days without a screen protector, what the hell?! I've had this phone for maybe 6 days now and it's already showing wear like this, I honestly don't think this phone is going to hold up for 2 years.
Even though the display glass is in fact Gorilla Glass, that doesn't mean for one second that it's scratch PROOF. Scratch resistant? Yes. Regular glass is also scratch resistant to a wide variety of items, Gorilla Glass is just more resistant, not scratch proof. On both my Captivate and Infuse, both of which have Gorilla Glass, I still accumulated some minor scratches.
Also, the camera lens is probably not Gorilla Glass, so it is even more prone to scratching than your screen.
If you are so worried about it, they do make these things called screen protectors. If you're obsessed with the glass feel, look into the SGP Glas.t glass screen protector, though it is quite expensive at 27 bucks or so. Otherwise, the SGP Ultra Oleophobic has a slippery feel, and is probably as close to the glass feel as you're going to get.
Another good one that I highly recommend is the Realook crystal clear:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/REALOOK-AT-T-Samsung-Galaxy-Note-SGH-I717-screen-protector-Crystal-Clear-2-PK-/260963172366?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item3cc29e000e#ht_1118wt_905
Same glassy feeling, and 2 for $15, and I find them very easy to apply.
Since you get 2, if your first install goes well, you could also cut out a tiny square for your camera lens.
I've tried literally 20 times to cut out a square camera shaped screen protector and completely ruined all of my extra HTC Desire Z screen protectors trying to make one.
I already bought a new screen protector, I didn't have one on for like 2 days because the one AT&T sold me was complete utter ****.
Well thanks! I just ordered those and realized the case I bought like 4 days ago I never paid for...

Yeah but if they get worse and my pictures look like this 6 months down the line then they'll probably ruin my enjoyment of the device.

if it is Gorilla Glass, i ain't impressed at all with this stuff. that said, my scratch is my fault, not the inferior G.G. crapola.
if i had a screen protector from the start i'd be golden. same with you m8.
Hey guys
I dropped my phone the other day, and a wild crack appeared I figured I had shattered my screen. It did have a tempered glass screen protector on it though, so I had my hopes that the damage was minimal. I took off the screen protector today, here are the results:

The phone is 100% fine. Screen is flawless. The drop shattered the glass from the protector and not the screen itself. It was somewhat of a nasty drop too. Dropped right onto the metal legs of my desk chair :laugh:
Highly recommend Nillkin 9H hardness glass protector. I have one on the back too
nice. I have the Nillkin too since August. That shatter protection is the main reason why I use the protector. Great to see it actually works.
I almost lost hope of getting this device due to the self cracking issues, but thanks to this my hopes got high again.
Hehe yeah tempered glass is awesome, you should see the state of the tempered glass on my old Z after many concrete face plants , yet the glass underneath is mint not so much the bezels
The Z3 will be the first smartphone i use with a tempered glass screen protection.. I only heard about those from the xda forums, they're not popular at all in germany. However i really hope for a more glass-like feeling, less persistant fingerprints and so on.
Keep in mind that the tempered glass is like 0.3mm high and therefor more like to break by hits like the one you had. You can see that the crack started at the left side of the screen. Without tempered glass, the screen is flush with the bezel, so i think that your glass would have survived that, too.
Nice, but remember if its a corner impact you will be less lucky.
anyone own the LifeProof - FRE Case for Samsung Galaxy S7? care to share your review?
I've seen a couple of videos on YouTube and would also like to see some real reviews.
The only thing I hated with past Lifeproof cases were the Rainbow/oil slicks under the screen and the muffled sound.
Just ordered one. It should be here by May 27

I just got the lifeproof and I'm using it as i type.
The good news is that it does what the box says. Tested it in a bowl of water and there was no water entry.
Also threw it from about 5 feet and the phone was inside survived scratch less.
Now the bad news is that typing, especially on the ends isn't the greatest experience. There's a bit of play especially at the edge of the keyboard and sometimes the keyboard doesn't register inputs.
I've been using the screen sans any sort of protection so far so I'm not that pleased with this solution. Probably the nuud line will be better but I prefer restricting further scratches on my screen (already have a bunch of scratches from just my pocket). On a separate note, my Moto G2, sans any sort of cover or scratch guard has had no scratches whatsoever, despite falling quite often.
Ask me any questions.
Pictures tomorrow from my moto g.

Sorry but I had such bad quality problems with the LifeProof case that I bought for my Galaxy S4 that I don't feel comfortable giving them more of my hard earned money.
I also think there is hardly any protection for the back of the S7 with the Lifeproof case. There is no padding, the back of the phone just lays against the hard plastic back and those hard ribs along the edges.
I believe one good drop and the back of the phone would be shattered.

I threw the phone a couple of times and no issues. Dropped it down on Asphalt at 20 kmph from my bicycle. Notjing broke. But I managed to scuff the case.
What I hate is the inaccurate touchscreen. I find myself pulling out the phone from the case just to use the glass sans any sort of impediments

I have this case and my only gripe so far is the touch screen. My wife has a lifeproof fre on her iphone 6s so we swapped phones for a few minutes. I had no problems typing on her phone with the fre, she hated typing on mine. Another thing I dont like is the quality of these cases. The little rubber gasket around the lightning port cover on hers is warped just after a couple months of use. The s7 fre case port cover is slightly different. I wireless charge mine to minimize plugging in. I also noticed this screen protector does not fit fully flush against the glass especially near the screen edges. Its like I am typing on my old Nokia N900 all over again because I have to press down more. The case does feel good in the hand though. But I am still thinking of alternatives.
I contacted dbrand to see if they were going to add the moto g4 skin .

They told me that there isn't enough demand to add this device. So if you want dbrand to add the skin. Send them an e-mail so hopefully they will add this easily scratched device.
Get the skin from Gadgetshieldz instead. Amazing quality and customer service.

You can buy customized skins from gadgetshieldz. Both are of same quality and little less tag than dbrand. Carefull before ordering because they offer skins for both the Moto G4 and G4 Plus. Link for G4 plus

Do these guys just use a plain sticker or is this similar to dbrand that uses high end 3m stuff?

3M as in the glue thing that holds the wrap in place? I ordered a Camera glass wrap and saw that 3M logo on the paper

I am using since last 4 months no wear and tear on the material except the corners when my mobile fell.
Camera is safe too from all those scratches ?
My setup
Back - Black Carbon Fiber
Sides, Logo and Camera - Red Sandstone
Gadgetshield have a wide range (Screenshot attached) and with good customer support too.
I was not satisfied with gadget shieldz.. The skin did not fit around the edges properly. Maybe i did something wrong but if you screw up during installation, your money is lost.

yep, you really have to heat the material to soften it so you can stretch it around the edges. That is rather tricky I agree. I had to do mine a second time before I got it right. Once applied it stuck very well without any folds or creases.
Is there a tutorial to apply the skin properly?
After installing new camera glass bought from Amazon.in, installed new skin from gadgetshieldz.com,and phone looks awesome. Though I need can opt for many options I installed leather on back, sandstone on sides and camera glass, white leather moto symbol.
Pictures may not be so good, taken from Samsung galaxy s3.

Hey y'all,
Just got a Pixel 4a and thought I'd post some of my experience with some accessories since we are all getting new phones here.
Way back when I got my Oneplus One, RhinoShield came out with a screen protector that I really liked have got one for every phone since. They have videos of hammering the screen as hard as they can and in my experience, that video matches reality. Obviously don't go around hitting your phone with a hammer, but I have done that several times still Here is my review of the Rhinoshield for the Nexus 5X: https://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-5x/accessories/review-rhinoshield-case-bumper-screen-t3340693 (they've improved/fixed all my concerns I had back then years ago)
The screen protector has excellent clarity, and the camera cut out is well done.

They added some extra space on the bottom so the swipe up gestures on the new versions of Android are natural.
It's a plastic screen protector, which means it won't crack like the glass ones always do. From having these protectors for over 7 years, they do eventually scratch but I prefer some little scratches to a glass screen protector cracking constantly. And from working at BestBuy Mobile, my experience is that the glass protectors don't provide much impact protection to the actual phone's glass.
The installation is pretty easy. They provide a kit with a microfiber cloth and dust stickers.
I got some of their cases this time around since the Pixel 4a is so small. I haven't had a case on my phones for years (only the Rhinoshield screen protector), but thought I'd give the case a try and I really glad I did because I would have bent my phone in half without it the other week on a hike (more details further down).
Here's all the stuff I got:
I got their carbon fiber case:
So I went hiking the other week and I had this case on my Pixel 4a. On the way down the mountain, I slipped on some rocky terrain while the phone was in my back pocket with the back of the phone facing away from me. I landed with the back pocket hitting the edge of a flat rock. It must have put some pretty big forces on the phone because it actually bent the phone a little!! It bent it as if you put the phone screen up on the edge of a desk with half of it leaning off the desk, then pushing down on the phone that is off the desk.
Luckily, the case protected the phone well enough where I could bend the phone back to normal easily. Other than some indention marks on the back of the case (only visible at the right angle) everything is all good! The carbon fiber is a great backing. Pixel 4a's do naturally bend pretty easy (judging from how easy it is to bend it with my hands). I'm glad the Pixel 4a does have a good amount of bending tolerance because I could see the screen separating from the body such a little before I bent it back. I'm also glad I had mine protected decently! I've been using it for a while now and it's all good!
