Vivo iqoo neo 855 Roms/root/bootloader info - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi! I have recently bought a vivo iqoo neo 855 and after buying it I discovered that there is no information about it on the internet, literally I cant find any rom, or rooting tutorial, not even a single mention of this device on xda (and that is pretty rare here) the only information I found was a tutorial in chinese on how to flash firmware. So i was wondering if anyone knows anything about this, knows how to root it or how to unlock bootloader, or if you think this is possible. Hello friend,
I also bought the vivo iqoo neo 845 about 4 months ago and immediately realized the same issue, short after I received it. Total lack of development on that device, which kind of makes sense, considering it is not even being sold outside of Asia. Our best luck would be in XDA Forums like this one I guess, atleast if/when our devices get popular. Keep the community posted and have a #debugged2020

Newly acquired a IQOO neo 855
I'm leaving in Canada and I've recently imported a IQOO neo 855. At first I've needed a 2-3 hours to figured out how to register on vivo without the phone number and remove some of the first bloatware. Than i wrongly downloaded Google apps from vivo store so everything was in Chinese language. Successfully remove everything than connect to Google via Account settings to have acces to America play store to really start building up my device the way i like it.
Funtouch is ok for now, but... They over-doing it.. everything is like more options just for the sake to have more.
I've been really surprise too by this lack of information and/or support over this model...i could even say. Ill be glad to start contributing over here more.

Good afternoon all, I also invested in the Iqoo Pro and yes there was one thread on here about it and how to register for an account, for all the good having an account is, it would be nice to know how to root and remove all that useless bloatware that's for sure, I just dumped all their apps into a folder and left them there, Now a few more threads have popped since, I have contacted Vivo customer services a couple of times and both times responses have been quick and helpful,

I ordered one piece. BL unlock and root cannot be performed, because VIVO not supported this (system unstability etc., saw on chinese vivo forum). On gsmhosting one new vivo phone BL unlocked with a special tool but it's risky. So no official way to unlock BL and have root.

In the Developer options there is a box which when ticked allows the BL to be unlocked so i dont know if this helps our cause to get rid of all the bloatware or not

I tried a lot of fastboot commands, but no luck of unlocking BL.

I have the Neo 855 and have managed to disable virtually all the bloatware and Chinese-filled apps without root access by following this XDA guide:

Using 3rd party launcher (you need a Vivo account to give permission for this otherwise it defaults back to the stock launcher every time you press home). I use Poco Launcher from the app store (seemed to work a little better on this phone than Nova Launcher) and mostly use Google's apps so it's now a pretty standard Android experience. I only left a few of the Vivo stock apps active - phone, messages, albums, calendar, camera, clock, compass, contacts, weather, file manager, itheme, imanager. I think other than phone, itheme and imanager, you can probably even disable all of those and use Google/Play Store alternatives instead if you like. Probably better to leave album and file manager alone too.

Ah I've tried third party launchers and can't get them to stay when home button pressed, I do have a Vivo acc (registered via email) but to no avail, so ill try the link provided above and see how i get on.

To get the third party launcher to keep working you have to dig in settings under Security, More Security Settings, Replace System Launcher. Toggle it on and enter your Vivo account password. VERY IMPORTANT: Turn off “Tap the home button to lock the system home screen” option. Then go to the default app settings in permissions and replace launcher with the 3rd party one and it should stick this time
I was wrong about one thing in my previous post about 3rd party launchers though - Nova actually works well. Another good thing about 3rd party launchers is that you can access some stock AOSP settings pages via long pressing the settings icon. The most useful is the battery page, which unlike the Vivo one, gives you your Screen On Time since last full charge.

I got Android 10 finally! Wow. Such an underwhelming update ? Hardly any difference at all from Monster UI on Android. 9. Stock apps very slightly tweaked visually, the clock font looks slightly different, some slight rearrangement in the settings menus (e.g. regular & live wallpapers on separate pages), the cool effect when you turn on monster mode is gone. Anyone find anything else?
