Strange charging problem - Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 / 5 Plus Questions & Answers
I have a strange charging/usb problem on my phone. Any help will be appreciated.
When I restart the phone and plug in the charging cable, it charges normally. When I disconnect the charging cable, I hear the sound which notifies that the cable is disconnected, but the "Charging device from USB" notification does not disappear (the charge animation next to the battery icon disappears). When I reconnect the charging cable, I hear the sound which notifies that the cable is connected, but the phone does not start charging.
In the meantime, the phone's connection to the computer works. And when the phone is switched off, if I unplug and plug in the charging cable, it starts to charge at every turn.
I tried different chargers and charging cables but the result did not change.
I tried it with a brand new charging board but it didn't make any difference.
I tried with global rom, eu rom and a few custom roms, the result did not change.

my problem is pretty much the same, when i plugg the charger it notifies normally that the phone is conected (LED & sound) but only charges for 1 second and then stops charging (still conected), u tried differrent chargers and stills the same, but sometimes charges normally, and when it does, just until 80%, any idea?

I don't think your problem is the same, because mine doesn't stop charging and fully charges. Only stops charging if I unplug and re-plug the charging cable.
Your problem sounds like a bad battery. Did you try to re-plug your battery?

Unit won't stop charging!
I have bought a second hand XDA and I am using a USB Sync charge cable to charge it. The problem I Have is that the unit doesn't stop charging and the battery pack (standard not extended) gets very hot. If I disconnect the usb cable and reattach it after it has been charging for a long time the light goes green instantly and it stops charging but if I just leave the cable in it never goes green. The same does happen with the mains charger but I rarely use this. I am fearing that this could cause the battery to become unusable in time. Can anyone suggest what might be wrong? Thanks
try another cable
Tried another USB cable - this one exhibits the same symptoms. I tried my mains cable last night - that seems to charge fully, but then reverts to a flashing green led (mobile phone signal) instead of a constant one indicating it is fully charged.
Charger NOT actually charging ...
When I connect wall charger to my galaxy i9100 it notify that charger is connected and charging indicator also tells that it is charging BUT it is NOT charging. THe battery level's going down as the time passed .... But strangely when I connect it to my PC via USB cable it actually starts charging ... There's nothing really running as some of u might be thinkin that an app might be using high CPU while charging ... but it is not the case as it is charging fine when connected to PC. I think my wall charger is faulty... but if it is then why it shows charging when connected though its NOT charging the battery at all? Any help??? ---Anupam
[Q] Phone discharges when plugged in and doesnt charge
Phone discharges and does not charge when ON and plugged in. The charger light glows even if it is jst connected to the phone and not to the power socket. Though the charging seems to work once the phone is switched off but jst charges upto 10% after which the animation turns blue and stops charging further. , also if trying to charge with USB via PC it says unrecognized device and the phone doesn't charge. any solutions? have tried different USB wires as have a cpl of more Androids at home but same issue with all wires. I am using pure stock rom with no rooting or flashes done yet. There was a solved thread in forum but for other rom.
Poco won't charge
When phone still had battery and I connected it to charger it didn't do anything. I have tried different chargers, cables even charging through PC. If I turn it off and connect it to a charger it turns on shows battery percentage and then this process just loops as seen in the video. https://imgur.com/a/A0T9SC4
Maybe ur on bootloop? Did u try connect to pc and see if it recognize it?
Xperia Z2 Weird Charging problem
Ok so I started having a weird charging issue with my Xperia Z2, a few months ago when I plugged the phone in to charge and noticed it was constantly showing it was charging and disconnecting non stop (basically this here Xperia Z2 charging disconnect)... first thought was maybe my usb cable (original Sony cable) was buggered but nope, plugged in my Xperia Z5 on the same cable and it charged fine, so I tried my magnetic charger on the Z2 and nothing, no charge at all. Eventually when the phone died completely then I was able to get it to charge but not without some issue, when plugging in it would still do the same thing, charge and disconnect constantly, it would take unplugging the cable and plugging it in again a few times till the phone would eventually charge and even though the charge would show 100%, when I turn the phone on, the battery percentage would vary anywhere between 80%-95% and it would discharge very fast. I figured it may have been my battery as I have been using the phone with an expanded battery since like 2020 and thought maybe thats it for the battery. Eventually got around to getting a new battery this weekend and the phone still does the same thing but its a bit different now, connecting it with my Sony cable still did the same thing when connected to the wall charger, charge and disconnect constantly. Then I thought maybe it could be a software issue so I connected my phone to my PC using a different usb cable to copy some stuff to my PC before resetting the phone to see if that helps...connected it and it was charging...so I take my Sony cable and connect it to the PC with that and it was charging...unplugged the cable from the PC and plugged it into the wall charger and it was charging and disconnecting again. Plugged it into the PC again and started charging. Tried the other usb cable with the wall charger and it did the same constant charging and disconnecting. I know the wall charger is working fine as I am charging other phones on it too with no problems. I try a third usb cable on the wall charger, this is a real cheap low amp cable, my Z2 starts charging with it almost normally, painfully slow but it was charging. Now I say almost normally because when it charges to around 90% then it starts doing the constant charge and disconnect again. Also the battery doesn't discharge as fast as it was doing before but still a bit fast. I want to try flashing a new rom, stock and custom to see if any of those might work. Would any one have any idea of the issue or experienced anything similar and was able to fix it? Any help any one
In the past I had a similar problem, try to clean the Usb port on phone and try again. Kindly regards
I remember reading something about the live kernel being involved in charging. It makes sense for this to break charging while completely empty. To charge at full speed you need the kernel to be running, but to get the kernel running you need power, the trickle charge you get without a kernel isn't enough to keep up with the boot process, so you end up in a loop of no power. I have not tested if another kernel fixes it, but it is currently broken on my device.
