Hi XDA,
I have been loving my S3 and a few weeks back unrooted it so i could have a little more freedom. I have CWM 5.5.0.4 on it.
I havn't added a new rom and I would keep it rooted but I want to recieve samsung updates because CWM won't install them.
I have looked around and havn't been able to find a way around to install these updates.
So i would like to unroot my device and remove CWM.
I can handle having to go back to stock and lose my data but I am unable to find a recovery file for my region.
I'm Australian and have been looking through the link below's tutorial on reverting back and there has been no real indication of a file for Aus/Oceania.
Any help would be great thank you.

Instead of using CWM to update your ROM, why not use Odin?
Also do a *#1234* to find out what PDA/Phone/CSC version you have.

It's the updates Samsung requests me to do so it asks me to restart my phone. It will then boot into the cwm that i am fairly sure was put there by odin and it wont certify the installation. I wouldnt know how to manually get the updates.
Thanks for the tip on finding out the version.

Used *#1234# and it worked liek a charm ill update how i go.
Greetings,
Is there a way to locate the OTA update files from Verizon?
Background: I have a Pantech Marauder phone. It was previously rooted with ICS Root Unlocker 1.0. I'm an obvious noob, and I accepted the OTA update. I no longer have root, and I haven't been able to find any tools to tips that work anymore.
Idea: Build a custom ROM from the update if I can find the file.
I was thinking about trying my hand at putting together a custom ROM since I can't locate any for Pantech Marauder. There are several online requests for stock ROMs; however, those requests are unanswered. I was thinking that if I could at least get my hands on the update that was pushed to my phone then perhaps I could work with that following some guides for building custom ROMs.
Is there a way to find the OTA update file location online? Perhaps from Verizon for manual download (I've searched) or Google Code? I tried looking on my phone for the file; however, without root, I couldn't find it. I tried using file browsers and searching for files such as "update" and file types such as ZIP. I also tried search for S910LVWD211F.D1 (the update).
Or, am I completely out to lunch on this one?
Same here
Would be sweet to see a custom Rom
Hello everyone, I have been looking for either a ROM or the stock ME7 OTA upgrade for my s4 I have been searching the past couple days and I haven't pin pointed which one I should attempt to flash to my phone. Just like http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2376140, but I also found another place that claimed to have the stock update but I have no way to be sure it is what it says it is. Also I have rooted my s4 by flashing and downgrading. So I'm wondering on the link I provided would I be able to perform a flash just by using Odin like I had before, or is there something else that needs to be done.

The Darkslide ROM you linked to can be flashed in a custom recovery just like any other custom ROM. If you take the OTA you will no longer be able to flash custom ROMs. Search the forums for more information. The bounty thread in the general section would be a good place to start.
thanks man, i looked where you said to go and couldn't find it, and i got lazy so i said f it i will just install a recovery and try the rom and if all else fails go ahead and just remove everything and install the orginal OTA upgrade and then root it again just to have my multi window manager back. love that app.
i did the rom update and it works very well so far, everything went off without a hitch and everything is updating and all my apps are being reinstalled ...now just the long process of messing with all those darn settings, thanks again man:good:
As the title states im just looking for the files that I need to put my phone back to stock. exactly how it was when I got it from Verizon. I would say just flash the one of these. I would personally use the full wipe so that you can get rid of all of your data as well.
Worked perfect thanks a lot.
Hello,
I'd like to upgrade to something more current than my 4.3 JB. Only, I'm concerned with losing my apps data and phone data. I used Odin one click root with no data loss. Now I'm wondering how the heck do I upgrade. Do I have to unroot to a stock mj4 first, then upgrade either ota or by myself to the highest version or since I'm rooted and running on twrp, can I upgrade with the most current or at least NC5 4.4? All the while, not having to reinstall my apps like before or any data loss?
My applogies ahead of time on not knowing the correct terms or procedures on what direction is the correct one to take in steps.
Thanks.
First you need to consider if you upgrade to NC5 or higher that installs Knox. Second has your trip counter been tripped to 1x0 ? You can root NC5 with Towel root and not trip Knox counter. But if upgrade higher than NC5 there is nothing that you root with that will not trip Knox counter. To save your data and apps you can attempt a "dirty flash" . This is done by finding a flash able version of NC5 in a zip file that you place on your sd card flash through twrp recovery, while in recovery you wipe caches and system, but not data.
However the odds of something being corrupted are high. The best way is to save all your data to your desktop and install back on the device after you are done flashing. Just click on rom flashing basics in my signature all info and links you need are there. Or you can find it on page 3 in General section.
I've got knox on 4.3.. and it's tripped any how. I don't care about the warranty, it's two years old. Hasn't got any left. hahahah. I'm more concerned with having to redo all the settings, my apps, work apps detailed things I really don't want to reset if I can help it (more so I can't remember all of it). I'm not sure how they did it before under the "one click no data loss" root. Wish there was a concise method, centralized that specifially says, hey if you used this, and want to do it like this, this and this, to save date, you do this and presto. hahah.
To be honest, I'm not sure what direction to take to even begin with. I'm rooted and what's the best way to update from there. I read your page, but it doesn't tell me what to do from being already rooted standpoint. Also it starts off as if you're on 4.4.4. I'm still on 4.3 MJ4. lol
Real quick, you mentioned to wipe the cache and system but not data. For obvious reasons, but could you explain what the three portions contain, reason being so I can wrap my mind around it to better understand why this, but not that.
Thank you for your quick response. Hope I can do this today if I'm lucky to get it right.
Ok so have a device that is rooted running mj4. To upgrade to 4.4.4 NC5 you need to find a copy of NC5 thats already rooted and in a flashable zip file. Than copy and paste the zip file to your sd card, and boot into your recovery. Now wipe cache, dalvik-cache, and system but do not wipe the data. This will install the new OS and keep your device rooted and save your data. This is commonly known as a dirty flash, most of the time it works. But sometimes it doesn't hence the term dirty flash.
The cache is a log of the OS running if there is an error or crash developers can review it and see what happened and fix it.
A dalvik-cache is data from your apps as they are loaded into the OS when they are opened or started up. The dalvik-cache stores this start up data that is repeated every time the application starts. Then uses it to make the app start up or open faster.

Do you recommend any link for the file? And does it matter if I use a newer version, suppose it's a matter of finding it like you said?
I see many different types out there, trying to match to my phone and I see odex, dodex and different things, I'm not sure what to use. :/

That one is flashable with Odin only. It would work but it would take you back to bone stock NC5 with no root and you would lose all your data. Think of it as buying a new phone and starting from scratch. I found one to but the download link is broken. Most of the guys here have updated to OC5 5.1 of course l'm still running my 4.4.4 NK4 deodexed debloated rom it's smooth and bulletproof.

ah, gotcha. I read also about battery life kind of sucking... How's yours running? Is there any benefit to updating higher? And, say I did 4.4.4, if I wanted to go up, would it be the same way, find a rooted flashable version and boot recovery?
Thank you for your help, really do appreciate when someone takes the time to help someone less knowledgeable.
I've been searching but still haven't found one. Anything in particular you can recommend I add to my search? you're right, some of the links no longer work. Any luck on your end?
