Hello everyone,
While I was sleeping my WhatsApp crashed or something, and it completely closed and when I opened it in the morning it said:
"Starting WhatsApp, please wait..." (My phone is in Spanish so the translation may not be accurate).
And, when it finally opened, it deleted absolutely all my conversations, except the groups which I'm member, but they where also empty.
And the most recent copy is from 1 month ago (Sure for now on, I will backup with more frequency, but I was very busy this month).
Does anyone know which file from the internal memory holds WhatsApp messages, so I can try to recover that file to restore them?
And no, I'm not talking about the backups file, I'm talking about the WhatsApp cache folder, not the cache but you know, the WhatsApp messages need to be in the internal memory as data and that's the thing I want to fully or partially recover to try to restore my messages.
My first idea is that on Applications -> Data -> Whatsapp should be the file with the messages, but it is hidden and I don't know how to recover it.
Any help or ideas would be appreciated because the messages are important for me.
Thank you so much.

First off check out these three guides for recovering deleted texts:
1. How to Find Saved Text Messages on SIM Card
2. How to Retrieve Text Messages from Someones Phone
3. How to Restore Deleted Text Messages
Next I would get an application like SMS Backup + this will backup and restore your SMSs to Gmail and Google Calendar you can also schedule it to backup up your SMSs automatically.
Finally after you have safely backed up your current SMSs find the application and select clear default cache and see if that works. Hope this helps you
so I wanted to restore my device to factory settings cuz it was lagging a bit and backed up my viber messages with TB. I now am stuck with the infamous verification screen wipe. I tried everything on the 7th page of this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1471396&page=7 but nothing has worked and I've lost an entire day. Please help me find a way to restore these messages. I have my save and I get to see it for a couple of seconds until the verification screen pops up.

Hello,
I suddenly lost all my WhatsApp messages for no reason, and restoring them from my local backup does not work. Can you help me fixing this issue?
Let me explain:
In January I used the app « Import That App Messages from Windows Phone », in order to recover my WhatsApp messages from my old Windows phone to my new Android phone. I successfully performed the data transfer process to this phone (OnePlus 7T Pro, Android 10).
However today when I opened the WhatsApp app I suddenly got a message which said something like « Your chat history stopped working. You can restore your data by clicking on Restore ». I chose Restore but it actually only restored empty group discussions, without any messages inside, and no discussion were restored. Then, in the WhatsApp settings I checked my backup settings and saw there was a Google Drive backup dated of January (which corresponds to the moment I originally transferred my data from my old Windows Phone) and a local backup from February (which contains important new messages arrived in the meantime).
So I decided I would try to restore the local backup, since it is more recent.
I uninstalled WhatsApp, then installed it again and followed the instructions until it asked me to restore from a Google Drive backup. At this moment I turned off my Internet connection, clicked on Continue, waited until a message told me something like « The research is taking longer than expected ». Then I clicked on Skip so that WhatsApp detected my local backup and asked me if I wanted to restore it. I clicked on Restore, then the process started with a progression bar, but when the bar arrived at 100% I got an error message proposing me to Ignore or to Look for an older backup. The 1st button led to a restore only of empty group discussions.
I uninstalled WhatsApp again, did the same process and tried the 2nd button, which led to a search for a Google Drive backup, which I don’t want to use.
I tried the process several times but it failed every time.
I precise that in my internal phone storage I kept a folder « WhatsApp » inside which I have 3 visible folders: Backups, Databases, and Media. There are also 4 hidden folders: .Shared, .StickerThumbs, .Thumbs, and .trash.
Inside Backups there are 4 files: chatsettingsbackup.db.crypt1, statusranking.db.crypt1, stickers.db.crypt1, and wallpaper.bkup.
Inside Databases there is 1 file: msgstore.db.crypt12 (which I believe is the main backup file to recover my messages).
Inside Media there are 10 folders : .Status, WallPaper, WhatsApp Animated Gifs, WhatsApp Audio, WhatsApp Documents, WhatsApp Images (this folder contains all my pictures sent and received), WhatsApp Profile Photos, WhatsApp Stickers, WhatsApp Video, and WhatsApp Voice Notes.
I really need help. Can you help me restore my messages? What should I do?
Thank you a lot in advance!
Im sorry but i need urgent help with my WhatsApp .
I did a full backup of my whatsapp in the morning using titanium backup and its said backup complete 100% then around 5PM my whatsapp crashed and started saying initializing untill it started up on the "Agree to continue " stage which meant it had started over againand at that time my whatsapp data got wiped ... I tried restoring my earlier backup using titanium back again but it failed (although it says restore complete ) as soon as i try to open whatsapp it crushed 3 times till it wiped the restored data again.
I dont have the mgstore.db.crypte12 files cz i delete them never seeing id need them like now... It seems my unencrypted database is still with me but (512mb size) but is now like mgstore.db.corrupt and whatsapp won't read the file but i need all the chats back. If anyone can help me please i have some locked away chats and willing to pay if i can recover them

Is there a way to add them back to db format after merging?
I tried to backup/extract my whatsapp database using this tutorial. The extraction also worked, however the restoring afterwards failed and now I have an empty whatsapp, a decrypted whatsapp chat and lost all information of the last 7 years.
Is there any way of restoring whatsapp fron the extracted files (chatsettings.db, msgstore.db, wa.db, whatsapp.cryptkey)? It would be so painfull if all of the data is gone (even though, I have it as a db - it would be gone in Whatsapp which would still be insanely sad).
I hope that anyone can help me, because I'm really desperate. If you need any more information, please feel free to ask.
