When enabling mobile data, the UI crashes. And restart. And crashes again.
The only way to stop this is by completely wipe the phone then reinstall everything. But the problem will come again.
It's quite annoying I must admit :crying:.
Weirdly, it does this only when I'm not connected to any wifi network (in case you need to know)
My phone is a rooted Galaxy S6 (zerofltexx) on a custom version of Resurrection Remix 7 (Android 9 Pie) (xda thread here).
Here's the log file (matlog) in case you need it .
Thanks for your help, if you have any question, ask me :good:.
Hello!
My wife is having the exact same problem. Oneplus6T, RROS A9, not rooted, no gapps, on Tmobile. Ran great for a couple of years then systemUI would crash, apparently randomly. (Moved to Oneplus6T forum)

You Google the bug? I found this and many other threads https://community.oneplus.com/wap/thread?id=1400319
@joke19:
Thanks for your reply. Yes I have quite some time in looking for similar situations. There are at least two on xda with A9 but different phones. I don't think its a OnePlus issue but others here know more than me for sure.
FIXED. Unbelievable, The common thread in my logs, at least, and some others here is caused by a bug in the implementation of mobile data per-app restrictions. On A9 Lineage and RROS roms, at least.
https://gitlab.com/LineageOS/issues/android/-/issues/2514
From the catlog, adjacent (near) to the fatal exception crash entries:
Caused by: java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: command '42 bandwidth addrestrictappsondata rmnet_data1 10073' failed with '500 42 Unknown bandwidth cmd'
The bug is the inability to process the bandwidth restriction.
I found the clock app had network restrictions. Why a clock needs access is beyond me, however drilling down from "Settings, "network and internet". "mobile network", "app data usage" and tapping on the apps listed there, there are toggles for cellular data and background data. For my clock app, these were off. Enabling these, and reconnecting to mobile data, no more crashes (so far).
UUGH.
Hope this helps someone. This is an old rom for certain but the phone was and is working well on it. Probably should have reflashed a newer os but found the culprit at least.

Hi Friends,
Few days a go as I was watching youtube videos for around 45 minutes continuously through the youtube app. The streaming suddenly paused and never continued from that point. I tried other videos but it kept on buffering (the circle kept on spining and nothing happened, as noticed on the leds of wifi router it seemed youtube app is not using the net but when i search for more videos the thumbnail do showup normally).
To over come this issue i tried reflashing. This happened when i was on the new HyperDroid_v4.0 with Pongster's MattedBlack v4.0 Surgeons which is amazing for battery saving.
I then tried reflashing HyperDroid_v4.0 again after formatting /cache /system /data /sdcard /emmc which wiped everything, but still no avail.
Then i again tried reflashing DarkyROM2 XXKH3 BASE (2.3.4) formatting everything but still no luck at all.
I even tried these flashing after Factory data reset selecting Format USB storage as well .
When i do the flashing everything else seems to be working fine as usual except the youtube playback and android market doesn't download, like i said for the youtube app, everything like searching the apps, browsing through apps details works fine except it doesn't download at all. It shows as if it's downloading but it stays as is forever.
Very sorry if same question was posted before this as i couldn't find like it.
I have been trying to fix this for 2 days in a row but still no luck.
Has anyone come across this same issue.
Please help.
Thank you very much in advance..
Update:The problem was finally solved after again formatting /cache /system /data /sdcard /emmc and flashed stock ROM though Odin and then I installed DarkyROM tool and then flashed DarkyROM2_KI3_Base ROM.
I will soon jump to HyperDroid_v4.0 with Pongster's MattedBlack v4.0 Surgeons again as it has superb battery life.
I will be updating you guys if the same problem persist.
Thank you all
Hello everyone!
Although I am not using GS2 (I have a Galaxy Note), I chose to post here because I didn't want to create a new post and I believe this is not a device-specific issue (see below for why).
I have the exact same problem as OP (as far as I can see). When I got my note less than a week ago, everything was working great. Then, last Friday I noticed that I cannot download anything from the market. After choosing to download something (both paid or free), after clicking "accept & download" at the permission screen, the screen goes back to app screen and market shows the app as "downloading..." with working, yet empty, progress bar. Everything else using the internet works fine - browsing from different browsers, notifications, email etc. I even tried installing an alternative market app, and it would download/install apps no problem. Also, downloading straight .apk files works as well. Later that evening I also noticed youtube app doesn't work - just the "loading" circle keeps running, until it times out. Browsing/searching market/youtube works without a problem. I am using the stock ROM and it isn't even rooted. Later, following some suggestions from google searches on the problem, it turns out that downloads work when I disable network and let it use mobile internet. I also later found out that it works on other wifi networks, just not my home wifi (which used to work perfectly, with no configuration changes to the router).
Next day I also found out that my girlfriend's android (LG Optimus Me P350) has the same exact problem, therefor it is not a phone model specific problem.
Here is what I tried so far:
Factory reset - left me with no apps and no way to re-download them. The market download did work ONCE after the reset, but that was to download the update to the market itself, nothing else;
Clearing Download Manager data - worked for ONE download. At first it worked for one download every time, meaning, after clearing download manager data, I was able to download one app, after that it would go back to the problem. I could then clear data again, and it would again download one app. After about 5 apps downloaded this way, this solution won't work at all anymore;
Force closing/clearing data of market, gmail, talk (in combination with above step) - didn't work;
Signing out/in to gmail and/or talk - didn't work;
Changing google account in market - didn't work;
Stopping/starting download countless times - didn't work;
Switching wifi on/off - only starts downloading briefly when phone switches to 3G while wifi is off. As soon as it gets wifi connection back, the download stalls at the position it was until I switch wifi off again (so it can continue to use 3G);
Switching phone to airplane mode, off/on, then disabling airplane mode - didn't work;
Changing phone's DNS records with an app to OpenDNS - didn't work;
Updating router firmware - didn't work;
Resetting router firmware - didn't work;
Setting port triggering on router for port 5228 - didn't work;
Port forwarding to Note IP for same port - didn't work;
Disabling router firewall - didn't work;
My router is Linksys E1000.
I think that is all I tried. I have been trying to find a solution for the whole weekend, and nothing as far. Searching google makes me believe that many people have had the same problem. I have found many solutions, which don't work, or only work once. This problem is really, really irritating. Also, I have found out that for many people the problem seems to randomly disappear without doing anything after some time (days to months), sometimes coming back and sometimes not. I experienced this myself when after going to sleep, I was able to download one app in the morning with no tried "fixes" at that time. This also makes me believe that there are many "fake" solutions, which did work for some people, but not for others - quite possibly, while these people were "solving" the problem, it actually solved itself, yet because the person did something, he/she believes that was the solution. A notable example of this could be "google account 24-hour reset" where users experiencing the problem are suggested to log out of their google accounts everywhere and not use the account for anything for 24 hours. Seeing as this is possibly a problem somehow connected to another device, not just the phone itself, I did consider flashing DD-WRT on my router, but I wouldn't really want do do that since my router is not that powerful and with all the DD-WRT features my broadband speed gets capped at about 65Mbit/s. Still a lot, but I have a great internet connection and am able to get real speeds of about 90Mbit/s with stock router firmware.
If anyone has any ideas, please share Thank you in advance!
Just a quick reply - I contacted my apartment building network tech, and he said that they didn't do anything regarding the internet that day, but they did however do something to offer TV service to residents (edit: The TV network shares the same hardware as internet's). He said that it shouldn't have changed anything regarding internet, but he would look into it. A few hours later everything is working.
Of course, it could be one of those cases where the problem disappears with no apparent reason, but I guess they did something to fix it. So, if you are experiencing the same problem (market downloads not working and youtube app not playing videos), and you have tried everything else (preferably confirmed the problem persists on someone elses phone), I would suggest you start going up the chain to whoever is managing your network (after yourself). If at all possible, try getting wifi access through someone else who is using the same ISP/network - if the problem persists even when connected to another AP/Router, it's pretty sure the ISP or network is to blame.
Hope this helps someone, since I wasted a few days on this
searched, no find.
I have two consistent issues.
1 - When retrieving sites requiring a login, or when logging into LastPass, if I can get to the "Processing..." popup, it will hang and sit. Sometimes it will complete Processing... after a couple minutes, and sometimes it will continue until I kill the app. This issue is frequent, so restarting the app is not an acceptable workaround.
2 - When loading a page it will often do the same but without a popup. It will take forever to load, sometimes not at all. Occasionally I can reload the page and it will work, occasionally it will not load at until I reboot the phone or something.
these issues seem to occur frequently on home wifi. my PC, also on wifi, will load from these servers instantly.
i have had the issue on the following:
stock
Unnamed latest
Shostock latest
entropy dd latest, and last two
siyah latest and previous
with/without overclocking
with/without data enabled
affects all browsers, lastpass, tapatalk, xda premium, etc, etc.
caches cleared, including dalvik
no stress on the phone, running usually 250-500MB RAM only.
any ideas? the phone is basically unusable as a smartphone at home. the issues may or may not be as bad on regular data. TIA.
one more try... anyone help with this issue?
You state that this is mostly happening on your home Wi-Fi connection; is it possible that you have some sort of QoS / traffic shaping setup on your wireless AP / router that may be resulting in this condition? Also, do you have any of this type of behavior on cellular 3G or other Wi-FI connected networks?

thanks for the reply.
the issue is inconsistent even at home. i have been watching for causal conditions but not finding anything yet. it does not appear to be my wifi. no other devices have ever had any kind of problem, and there have been many (i share the my wpa2 wifi with neighbors as well, many smartphones, etc). yes, the issue frequently affects me off wifi on data. and yes, it occurs at my office wifi as well. but the intermittent nature makes me think it's something with the phone's software, which is why i'm focused on figuring this out here. when it rains it pours, and i will have to reboot the phone, not just kill my browser or other app, in order to connect. sometimes rebooting more than once is required.
Have you tried a 'wipe data / factory reset' in ClockworkMod Recovery?
yes, i did actually. the issue is happening even loading basic google searches out on H+. the page will usually load, but will take literally 3+ minutes to load it. i'm not sure what's going on but it seems there's something going on between me and the servers that is hanging my data retrieval. i'm mystified. but the phone is literally stuck on page loads & data retrieval about 70% of the time. i don't have any weird software running in the bg either. pretty basic Entropy DD (tried the last 2) and ShoStock latest. is it possible there is some hidden settings somewhere i can look at? i have scoured all available settings on the phone, but there's gotta be something deeper i can look at. any recommended system tweak apps for this?

I get similar things. Looks like my modem or connection is freaking out.. Did a factory return to kk6. Still didn't fix it. I'm thinking its hardware. Can't figure out what it is cause no laptop right now..
Just wanted to let you know your not alone.

ok, mine is a refurb, but has not appeared to have even a single hardware issue. guess i'll continue to cycle new software and see if this eventually irons out. next step is to get more into the system settings and investigate. my initial guess is my phone is sending repeated requests in the background.
if anyone is interested, i may have found the problem. i'm no networking guru, but i changed my phone's DNS settings to OpenDNS's servers like my home router's config. previously my phone was using Google's DNS servers. after changing the phone to OpenDNS loads are consistent and snappy like every other box in the house. keeping an eye, but so far so good.

Hey,
I'm suffering some issues with two Samsung mobiles, namely a S3 and a Note2. Push notifications simply won't work reliably on both devices (lacking a data-capable SIM, I could only test on wifi, where other devices work like a charm).
I flashed with M9, then went to nightly, flashed the most recent GApps, and also tried push notification fixer, disabled wifi optimization, re-logged in via Hangouts, to no avail. Without a visible pattern, one or both devices fail getting GCM messages at all. Moving the device to airplane mode and back seems to newly roll the dice.
Wifi on those devices work, as I could ping them reliably, it's just GCM that doesn't work, visible in apps like Threema, but also in the Android device manager that is unable to locate the device, or the Play store when I remotely try to install an app. Putting the device on (unlocking not required) seems to cure the problem for a little while.
Having researched a bit, I'm quite clueless. As both devices IMHO are the same Exynos platform, and have been cleanly installed just a few days ago, is that maybe a known issue, related to Android 4.4 and wifi drivers?
Any chance of debugging GCM to see where the issue is?
Thanks!

Are you apply or modifying anything to do with battery saving?
Have you tried reseting to factory setting, wiping /system and /data (warning you will lose all data so backup). reinstall rom gapps plus those specific apps that don't work and tested it?

I did so before installing the system, both devices are a completely fresh setup, incl. wiping of system and data. I thought I had luck with wiping cache & dalvik as it worked yesterday, but today, once again, only one of those devices works.
Seems in fact GCM loses connection on one of the devices (the second one seems to work like a charm now). Removed Google account and re-added it, but status in *#*#426#*#* shows google play failed connection ev:1 err:16 net:1
No idea how to fix that though ;-(
If you have done a complete clean flash and not touched any settings im afraid im out of ideas.
Hi all,
I’m having some issues with my Huawei Mate 10 Pro Dual Sim BLA-L29 8.0.0.120(C432): Some apps just stop refreshing and/or don’t seem to be able to get data from the internet. I end up staring at a white screen and nothing happens: not even a timeout.
Weirder even: this doesn’t happen with all apps, but mainly with some news Apps, Amazon, Ebay and the XDA app. Whereby the Ebay app only seems to have a problem with getting the description and XDA with the news items. And it doesn’t even happen all the time… although I cannot pinpoint a certain time of the day where it happens.
So what did I try myself?
a) I forced-stopped the apps and restarted them manually: this doesn’t work.
b) I restarted the phone, which seems to work at times but isn’t a real solution as it only works for a few minutes.
c) I deleted the cache and data of the apps: this doesn’t work.
d) I reinstalled the apps in question: this doesn’t work.
e) I tried using the apps on WLAN or LTE: this doesn’t change anything, the issue is still there.
f) I cursed my phone: this doesn’t work.
f) Did I try using these apps in the same network with a different phone? Yes I did, none of these issues occur on that phone, but that’s a Galaxy S7 Edge running Batman ROM (wonderful ROM btw), which is based on Android 7 and the Mate 10 Pro is running Android 8. So there is that difference for a start.
What I did notice is that, while setting up the phone for the first time, the wlan connection was really slow and I had to switch to LTE in order for my apps to install. So I’m thinking that this phone might still have some internet connection issues, but I’d like to know how to fix these issues.
So: can anyone help me with my problem?
I had this issue. following a link from facebook would just end up with a blank white screen. Emails wouldn't load. I did a factory reset and all seems to be ok for now. Its beyond annoying, it basically makes the phone unusable.
I think I might have solved this issue myself and it might be useful information for others:
In the battery-section of the settings, there is an option to control if an app can auto-start, be started from a different app and is allowed to keep running in the background. Either you allow the phone to control this automatically, or you can do it manually: the latter possibility is the one I turned on as I wanted to have the control over the apps. Apparently, this was a bad choice as it stopped the apps from getting the information from the internet?
After I switched it back to completely automatic, all apps were working normally again. This is something that Huawei should address as I don't believe this should happen .

I thought this was an issue with my previous Lineage OS version and googlin the issue apparently it's common for android oreo so as soon as I realized there was an unofficial build for android pie here I flashed it. Everything works fine (except for the gallery that I replaced with a f-droid alternative) but I'm greeted by the same issue every X hours: a message from my provider telling me I'm out of credit. I have no mobile plan on my sim and I don't even want one but whenever I add credit on it I lose everything in about 2-3 hours due to these ping-like leaks. When I go in data usage it clearly says "95.21 kB used" even if the bottom bar says "0B - 2,00GB". Mobile data is off of course and I also went out of my way going in developer option and disabling "Mobile data always active: Always keep mobile data active, even when Wi-Fi is active (for fast network switching)". Is this an issue related with my phone and not on the version of android I'm running? Is this an issue with Lineage OS itself? I don't know if I'm receiving sms telling me I'm out of credit because data is leaking or because my provider likes to remind me I'm out of credit and that I should add money.. I think the former makes more sense since a constant spam of these messages is really tedious and looks not intended. I would add more money but I fear to lose even more due to this issue. Anyone else with this problem?
I've been facing the same issue and been trying to resolve it with no luck. I am on Miui 8. I thought it was Miui that steals my mobile data.
