MX Linux on G18REF with build 6/5/14
I just received my generic "MX" box which is a G18REF and currently has build JDQ39.20140605. Kernel version is 3.0.50. I would like to install MX Linux on this box and am wondering if I needed to a firmware 1.1.5 downgrade first as I saw mentioned elseware. How can I confirm this? Thanks!

Hello everybody,
is it possible to flash this rom to the box mentioned on the title?
Thank you very much for your time and answer
G02 kernel source and config
Hi,
Thanks for these ROMs - working great on my ATV1220 (G02).
Please could you point me at the source code and config used for the kernel build? I see some kernel repos at https://github.com/CoreTech-Development but none that seem new enough given that the release changelog suggests that a kernel from March 2014 is being used.
Has anyone tested any of these roms on Bluetimes MX5 G02ref box.

Mygica atv1200 rebooting over and over
I tried to install the mx Linux build for atv1200 posted in the forum here. it said to run the conversion file first then flash the latest release for geniatech/mygica atv1200. I made the sdcard up following the instructions in the readme file included. when I popped the sdcard in and did the upgrade process, it booted to a screen with the Linux penguin, and a yellow progress bar. I seemed to finish then reboot. but it has been doing that same process over and over for the last hour, and it seems not to be working. I tried to revert back to android but it would not boot. I tried making bootable sdcard with geniatech uboot bin, and mygica rom, but it woin't boot. then I made the sdcard with the mx Linux conversion files again, and it boots, but just keeps rebooting with the penguin screen and the progress bar. any help would be greatly appreciated. seems like there are not a lot of people having the same problem cause I cannot find a solution anywhere.

Hi,
How to un-brick this box.
G-Box Midnight rev 2.2, 4GB Storage, 1GB RAM, A9 Neon CPU.
was running "Linux inside, XBMC 12.2" tried to update to android firmware 1.2.2.
now only getting black screen. The blue light comes on, but none of the firmware i put on my 1GB SD card get me any display. I try holding the toothpick for about 2 mins, but no sign that it is working.
Can't get into recovery, even if i am there no way to be sure.
Can someone help me?
Thanks.
Amlogic M3
I managed to flash an early xios linux "the hydra" xbmc onto my amlogic droid stick but the wifi is completely gone which makes it hard to do anything. For some reason my unit doesn't have a bootloader, nor a reset button (so i'm doing the advancedlauncher -> sh -> reboot recovery way in xbmc) and there doesn't seem to be any other recovery roms available for it.
Figured i'd try the M3 linux from here, but apparently this is configured to assert a getprop for specific hardware. I can change that myself, but when i sign the zip my unit refuses to go past that verification. With this rom the signing verification is fine, but assertion fails. I can fix that myself but how did you go about and sign the zip? I've tried a few different ways (apksigner, jarsigner) to no avail. There is very little information on what recovery (3e) actually checks, any clues on how to resolve that? (All it says is signature verification failed when i sign, with test keys and self made other keys).

Which firmware for generic G18REF
Hi I purchased a generic MX2 G18REF,
Which firmware should I install Matricon 1.1.5 or 1.1.6 before installing Linux MX?
Thanks
Cheap DX M3 stick won't work.
I just flashed the M3 (f16ref) based one on my cheap Amlogic AML8726-M3 stick (1gb ram, 4gb nand, 1.5Ghz), this didn't quite work out and it seems i can't flash other stuff on it either now. Just want to warn anyone else trying this
Codesnake help needed
I have a square s802 M8. I recently tried several different OpenELEC zips, most zips received NO FOOTER errors and would not install but most of the ones that did install, did not have any access to wireless networks under OpenELEC settings. Including Codesnakes ROMs. They would not allow access to wireless networks. So, I finally came across a Russian zip on xbmc.ru that installed and it is the latest developer zip found at: OpenELEC-Amlogic.S82.arm-devel-20150113183017-r20272-g0481f0c.zip. After zipping it to the s802, I realized it is for the S82. It still worked but it seems to have some bugginess. It is getting stuck on the opening stream window and the working spinning wheel is getting stuck too often. I am used to Stane's MX Linux and got spoiled with speed. Please help, I need a network working .zip with audio/video synced properly and speed. Any suggestions on a more suitable ROM zip? All of codesnake's OpenELEC ROMs seem to not have wireless networks enabled. Is there a way to have ethernet hooked up after installing codesnake's zip and then get wireless by downloading a network setting addon or enabling an OpenELEC setting feature??

USB Audio issue & Xposed installation Arm64
While I am loving having a standard android experience on my Shield Android TV, I don't seem to get any audio out via USB. The DAC I am using is locked to 24 bit 96khz and shows as being synchronised but I get no audio. Audio is still coming out of HDMI. Everything worked with standard firmware. The setting for preventing automatic USB audio routing in developer settings is switch off... anyone have the same issue and know how to resolve?
Also - as mentioned by another poster - I am receving an error when trying to install Xposded. The error message suggests that it is looking for the arm (32bit) version rather than the 64bit. I am pretty certain we should be using Arm64 - so am I doing something stupid when trying to install via TWRP?

Still not getting USB audio (24bit/96k) in the latest versions of the ROM. Is this a problem for anyone else? Really need USB audio so will need to go back to stock if this isn't going to be resolved. Happy to try and help with any troubleshooting.

Messed up big
Hello all.
So I followed this guide but I messed up on one crucial step. Instead of just wiping user data and cache I also wiped (system). In any case I was able to flash the ROM and it fully boots with all the sweet animations but it boots to a black screen. I only see the mouse and that's all.
If I hold the power button I only get the option to power off.
Any tips?
Note: very inexperienced with Android but overall technically inclined

could someone with privileges incluye a thread about dvb-t and dvb-t2 tests?
I'm noob in xda and have not publish 10 post yet
But I think it would be interesting to check the stv
capabilities with USB dvb t/t2 tunners especially
with the complete lollipop room
If the kernel includes all the requested modules
I will try to install a tvheadend to stream TV to
all the devices..... Like hdhomerun but with a 30$ tuner
With the x1 CPU I'm sure that can to connect 2
or more tunners to do pvr or stream different channels to devices
Thanks in advance and excuse me if is not the place to post this message

Nvidia Shield controller no longer works after full Android is installed on Shield TV
I was able to install full Android on the Nvidia Shield TV. The problem I have now is that the Nvidia Shield controller no longer works. Is there any app available that would enable the Shield controller to work with the full Android on the Shield TV?

Thnks for the info.
Can you please tell if it is possible to change the rom?
Again, thank you.
Just in case anyone is still figuring out to root/upgrade this - I managed to install Android 6.0.1 on my mini mx-g (16/2) by flashing Ugoos AM1 1.1.1 from their official website here; Mini mx (8/1) can flash AM2 1.1.1 instead
To flash TWRP, you'll need KIII Pro Android 6 TWRP which you can get from the file attached... (unable to find the original thread link! ):
SuperSU will be pre-installed in the above rom, but one can also install magisk by flashing the TWRP and getting the boot.img file from the file browser (also attached mine if it helps)
I also wanted to enable sony dual shock wireless support which was possible after following the guide in this amazing blog - Connecting ps4 dualshock joystick via Bluetooth to Android
Hope this helps someone!
Bonus: My intention was to run Google Stadia, unfortunately device too weak.

HI. To be hones i can't find any chip information. It is the chip next to the soldered antena? (I marked in on foto with black rectangle) If yes then on this item is just a number "4517G1 D322C9 " without information about the producer like Broadcom or Realtek:/
I'm attaching the better foto and one with marked item (I hope this is a chip which you asked?).

Ok. Good to know that I should stay on KITKAT.
Unfortunately next to by attempts to flash it to 5.0 I bricked my device :/.
Do you have a proper Kitkat IMG to flash it by the usage of Amlogic_Burning_Tool (I'm using 2.0.5 version) or different method to make this device alive again? I searched and can't find proper IMG
Firstly It was KOT49H test build but I can't find KOT49H build version in .img format for this device. (every flash attempt with different roms ended on 3% with USB controller error, I tried also on different PC to avoid drivers problem.)
Thanks in advance for the help!

Hi,
Thanks for the suggestion but It is still not working.
Firstly I try to flash it by sdcard method by using "TRONFY_TVB_MXQ_CARD_USB_VERSION_FULLY_LOADED_V111k4_20150706" rom. It booted with GoogleTV logo then this logo disappears, the led light was still blue but without additional reaction. After 5 minutes I turned it off because nothing have happened.
Now it is worse it is not booting with sdcard anymore :/
So I'm trying to flash it by the usage of Amlogic USB_Burning_Tool (version 2.0.6.2_build2) but doesn't meter which .img i'm selecting it is still crashing on 3% with the error: [0x10105002]Romcode/Initialize DDR/Read initialize status/USB Control setup error.
I tried to investigate it and what is strange for me:
1) The device is recognized properly by Amlogic USB_Burning_Tool (with the status connected) without pressing the reset button.
2) On this 3% burning step it looks that the device is disconnecting and connecting again (based on windows manager devices)
3) I thought that the drivers problem and the system version problem, but i tried even with windows xp and the result is similar :/
4) When I connecting with OTG the computer recognizes it and says M8 chip en after WorldCup device.
5) This device I received on the box as here --> http://g01.a.alicdn.com/kf/UT8Qpjy...th=1000&hash=c2b99badfc18fab45c64c5c6943e6140 with the description that it is Android KitKat QuadCortex-A9 OCta Mali-450. Maybe I should try the firmware for different device?
I have read somewhere that this 3% error is often when the firmware image is wrong for the device but also it met one post that device is connecting with windows on wrong condition and it is impossible to flash it then...
Below i'm attaching the list of .IMG files with I tried to flash:
Code:
MXIII_113K4.img
Tronsmart MXIII_115k4_20150603.img
Do you have idea how to resurrect my device?
Thx in advance!

CPU: Amlogic S802 Quad Core up to 2.0GHz (Cortex-A9)
GPU: Octa core ARM Mali-450 GPU up to 600MHz
RAM: DDRIII 2GB
ROM : Onboard eMMC Flash 8GB
Expand Memory: Micro SDCard (Maximum support 32GB)

About the WIFI chipset I have no idea what it is :/
More information base of the seller description we can find here : http://aliexpress.com/item/MXIII-MX...2-2GB-8GB/32641633395.html?isOrig=true#extend
I'm also attaching the photos :
1) Of the package (paper box) with with I received this device.
2) Of device itself from outside
3) Of the device itself in inside (to see the main-board and so on )
Big thanks in advance for the help to find the proper ROM file (.img) to flash this box and make it alive again
Cheers
Igorow
I haven't taken a look inside but I'm pretty sure that I have the exact same box (arrived in same packaging and has exactly the same specs). Any progress in getting 5.x working? The only reason why I bought this box was to use the DirecTV app and it stutters like crazy. It's the only thing about the box that's slow, which is very annoying. Hoping 5.x will fix that (if it can be flashed).

The fact of being slow isn't unfortunately the OS but the hardware. Many Chinese folks who sells the boxes and to whom i spoke to, have confirmed that few lollipop versions running in few specific boxes with amlogic s802 have more issues than the ones with kitkat.
The hardware won't handle the lollipop.

Thx ataraxioss but you send me wrong rom? This one looks like for the sdcard method. Inside it isn't any .img (except of recovery.img) file to flash the rom via USB_Burning_Tool, or it is a special method how to flash it?
Inside the package which you send me it is:
Code:
factory_update_param.aml
k200C-ota-20151211.zip
recovery.img
u-boot.bin
Thx in advance for the answer.
Cheers

Hi ataraxioss,
Now the content of the zip is better because it achieves the aml_upgrade_package.img file.
Unfortunately still it looks as incorrect ROM or something else ;/
It is still crashing on 3% of crashing process with the error as below:
Code:
[08:16:46 083][HUB2-4][Inf]--RunInRam succeed
[08:16:51 090][HUB2-4][Err]--IOCTL_DO_LARGE_MEM_Handler ret=-5 error_msg=libusb0-dll:err [control_msg] sending control message failed
[08:16:51 090][HUB2-4][Err]--CheckFileRunState failed
[08:16:51 090][HUB2-4][Inf]--Failure : 1, FailureMax : 3
[08:16:51 594][HUB2-4][Err]--[08:16:51 594][HUB2-4][Inf]--Failure : 2, FailureMax : 3
[08:16:52 105][HUB2-4][Err]--usb_get_configuration ret=-5 error_msg=sending get cached configuration ioctl failed, win error: It is not possible to find the proper file.
[08:16:52 105][HUB2-4][Inf]--Failure : 3, FailureMax : 3
[08:16:52 105][HUB2-4][Err]--[0x10105002]Romcode/Initialize DDR/Read initialize status/USB Control setup error
If it will be helpful I can attach the whole log.
I disabled also the power saving on USB ports, reinstalled USB Burning tool to new version v2.0.5.15. Badly i'm get still the same result
I have still the impression that the ROM .img is incorrect
Maybe you have different idea and/or different rom to test ?
Thanks in advance!
Cheers!
I use k3qf4f40bm AGCF memory and 64g 5.0 EMMC.I need to go into APX mode to back up the entire device.
Actually, this version Tegra K1(Code:T590D-A3 64 Bit) cannot support more than 1.5GB RAM in one chip, but xiaomi mi pad 1 can support 3GB RAM,because that is another version(Code:SD575N-A1 32 Bit).Sorry for my English.

What nonsense are you writing! And here is the version of the chip. The first one was able to install 3 GB of RAM in Mipad only because it has a registered 3 GB chip in the bootloader, kernel and memory configuration files. There would be no this information and the Mipad would never have seen a 3 GB chip.
Regarding the Nexus 9, it does not have information in the bootloader, kernel, etc. that it can work with other chips except those that it has (2 GB).

Nexus 9 does not have an APX mode. If you have already decided to change the EMS chip, then it is easier for you to read from the old dump and fill it with a new one.

I confirm that there is APX mode but I haven't found a way to enter APX mode.
Does anyone know how to extract SBK from disk image? I wipe out BCT, now in APX mode.
