Enable passive NFC when phone is off or locked - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I use my Xiaomi to open my NFC doorlock. However, it only works when the screen is unlocked. On my old LG G3 I could read the NFC UID even when the phone was turned off so I could get in even if the battery was too low to run the phone. This was the default behaviour. My door is the active transponder so I do not need to start an app on my phone. The phone must just transmit the UID when it gets energized by NFC. Maybe the secure element must also be active.
Where do I turn on this setting on a Xiaomi with MIUI 11?

[Q] A PIN/other lock on turning your phone off?

I've been searching unsuccessfully to find an app that would require one to enter a PIN or satisfy some other security measure in order to switch off the phone; or alternatively where you can't turn off the phone when it's locked. I don't believe one exists, and would be overjoyed to be proven wrong.
This is because in the event your phone is lost or stolen, the first thing the thief or finder always does is to immediately turn off the phone. That pretty much leaves any 'Find Your Phone' feature completely useless in the immediate aftermath, which is the crucial period when it's most useful (while the thief or finder is still geographically close to you) - you have to wait helplessly until such time as they decide it's safe to turn your phone on again, by which time they'd also have pulled your SIM ... and if they'd ALREADY reformatted your phone BEFORE turning it on again, then most anti-theft apps are pretty much dead in the water.
I was thinking, that on a unibody phone where the battery can't be pulled, an "Unlock to Switch Off" used in conjunction with other security measures such as the various phone anti-theft apps out there would make an incredibly powerful and effective, TRUE anti-theft/loss phone. (Avast has a feature on rooted phones that locks the OS so you can't reformat the phone once the feature is activated or when the SIM is changed. Again, only useful if you managed to activate the feature PRIOR to them reformatting.)
I understand that this feature would probably require some form of overriding the usual hardware "hold for 10-15 secs to turn off" implementation baked into phones where the battery can't be pulled. Would this be possible without also greatly annoying someone whose phone is genuinely hung?
*BUMP*
Really, there aren't any options for this at all?

Tasker/NFC - Running tasks while phone is locked?

Just a basic question I think...
Should tasker natively be able to run tasks from the lock screen or while the device is sleeping/display off?
I'd assumed so, but so far my NFC tasks only work while the device is unlocked. I've got Hue Pro Tasker set to respond to NFC tags that turn on devices around the house. I've been having to unlock the my phone to get it to read the tag and run the task.
All said, I'm running on a Nexus 6 (rooted). Maybe Lollipop or the device is part of my issue, I'm not sure.
Thanks!

Doze disables portable hotspot

Currently when Doze activates (not sure if light or deep idle, my guess would be deep) the portable hotspot stops working, it doesn't turn off, so in order to get it working again you have to turn it off and then on again. Because of this there is no way to share your internet access indefinitely if you let our phone idle. Is this an oversight from Google in the way that doze activates? I see no reason why you would want your phone to doze while hotspot is active.
And in accordance to the "Android Compatibility Definition Document" OEMs are not allowed to alter Doze, meaning that this problem carries over to almost all phones in the west.
The way I've been doing it now is disabling doze when I turn on hotspot using tasker. Unfortunately this requires root. Not a problem on my 6P, but a much bigger problem if I decide to get the S8 (trigger KNOX = no Samsung pay, probably).
What would be the best way to get Google to fix this? Am I the only one that cares for portable hotspot? Does this work differently for others?
Any sort of response would be much appreciated.

Google either choose simplification or flat out removed the setting. As for why in some sense it makes things simpler for developers and virtually most (not all obviously). Linked two articles out of the multiple google search results below that pertain to the question.
I maybe totally going out on a limb to guess (and I am, not something I am to fond of doing honestly) since GPS/Location services only turns on when it is needed maybe the option was unnecessary?
Granted the choice would be nice, but so far I haven't seen anything in my usage that shows GPS location is a battery killer. In fact I get a lot more active use out of my phone now as it is then I did previously on Oreo, which is rather nice IMHO.

fyi...
The option seems to be there.
On the Pixel phones you can enable it via "developer options" -> "featured flag"
Samsung decided to ditch this feature flag, why i don't know.
But with tasker and my unrooted S9 i could enable the battery saving mode.
Although you can't verify i think it works.
As i use Life360 which triggers the GPS when opened and haven't seen the GPS icon since i toggled to battery saving mode.
So as lomg as it works i'm happy.
Task:
Location Mode - > Mode: battery Saving

Disable Doze function entirely

I have tried now on two newer Android phones (Huawei Mate 20 with Android 10, Samsung Galaxy A7 2018 with Android 9) what happens if I track my position with GPS and then stop for 30+ minutes.
The result is every time, on both devices, that the GPS signal is lost after stopping for 10-30 minutes, and it is not regained without manually waking up the phone (wakeup Apps don't work, moving again doesn't work).
This happens with all tracking apps I've tried (about 10); I tried the different location modes; I have turned off ALL options which are for power saving, for all apps; I even deinstalled PowerGenie and the SystemManager on the Huawei device via ADB. Therefore, this is definitely NOT a problem of settings, nor of a specific firmware.
I now suspect that the aggressive "Doze" feature that was introduced in Android 6 is responsible for this. So is there any way to completely disable it?
I want that GPS tracking will continue regardless of whether I move or not, will always try to reconnect when signal is lost, until the battery is at 5% or less - without me touching the phone even once after starting the tracking app.
