Hey Folks, I damaged my Mate 20 pro recently, the front screen (glass only) is cracked and so is the rear cover. Im not sure how much it will cost to fix it including labour but I thought I would try and source the parts first. I don't trust the small phone shops as they might fit an unofficial screen glass So where can I buy genuine parts in the UK, The Huawei site is too expensive to it needs to be from a recommended stockiest. Many thanks
Hi, you are going to have to replace both glass and oled display. They are fused together and not individually swappable.
AliExpress do service packs:
#Aliexpress £76.22 38%OFF | Original 6.39'' Display with frame fingerprint Replacement for Huawei Mate 20 Pro LCD Touch Screen LYA-L29 Digitizer Assembly

Thanks for your reply. How can i be sure the LCD is a genuine part ? That is a much cheaper price, its 280 pounds in the uk. Estimated delivery is 20 to 40 days lol . What a shame.

Whilst i cannot promise its genuine, they say they are an official seller so if it comes and its a load of crap, you could get aliexpress to refund. They don't get paid until you confirm delivery.
The 'estimated' delivery is usually crap, I get things in 2-3 weeks max usually.
Obviously the discount has a 'risk'.

Ok many thanks for your reply. I will give it some thought. It may make more sense to buy a good used device and sell mines for spares or repair. Something i need to think about, thanks again my friend

I've been staring at Proporta's Advanced Screen Protector ( http://www.proporta.co.uk/F02/PPF02P05.php?t_id=4646&t_mode=des ) and the invisibleSHIELD Full Body Protector ( http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/invisibleshield-full-body-protector-htc-touch-pro2-p20624.htm ) for a while now and I can't make my mind up as to which is better.
I know both make decent products, and the price difference doesn't concern me so much - I want quality. Has anybody used either (or both) and can recommend one or the other?
this is the one i used.
this is the one i used for mine and its awsome, you can find it on amazon.com
LCD Screen Guard Protector for Sprint HTC Touch Pro2 (CDMA)
ASIN: B002RCM4JY
Its like the original one that came with the phone. its smooth and easy as hell to put on. came out to 3.00 with shipping, i bough two of them for 6.00 its one of those werid pricing things on amazon.
look in the second picture thats the one you woudl be getting if you order it.
mine
I have the Full Body Zagg invisibleSHIELD. While it is pretty decent there are quite a few problems im having. It can easily be due to me failing at applying but what ive noticed is the Back cover is starting to come up around the edges. Under alot of head (tethering with wifi etc battery gets hot + its 90degrees outside) the glue used to keep it attach starts to unstick and gives movement =( not good
1 other point is it doesn't cover the Silver front face edge. Im not sure if any will but thats the one area i do get scratched alot =( so i just use scrapes and made my own.
I would get the Bodyguardz full body kit, as theres actually cover the chrome part unlike the invisibleSHIELD.
You can get the product from Expansys.com for 21-ish quid with shipping you also get two sets unlike the Zagg.
If you want a really good Screen Protector you should try the Vikuiti DQC-160 from 3M. It costs only about 8-10 dollars, and shipping is very fast and free (from Germany to anywhere on the world).
never ever, invisible shield!!! get body guardz, phantom skin or anything else...

Ok, here is what just happened to my Galaxy s2 today...
And I talked to few stores, but they all told me that they cannot replace only glass, it has to be replaced with display so it would cost me 170 euros, so, is that my destiny or they just want to take as much money they can?
Oh, boy... That gem is bleeding...
I'm from the Philippines and I don't know how much 170 euros cost. But try to weigh the cost, sir. If you think that it's almost the price of a new unit, you're better off buying a new one. But if you think that it's a good deal, then good deal it is.
If you are handy you can try to buy the parts on ebay and replace it yourself, should cost you around half that. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1253969
Fail that, look around, even for dealer replacement that is pretty high.

I just bought a used phone from a for sale site tonight just so I can steel the glass/lcd/digitizer. It really is an easy process to swap the whole unit out, it really only takes about 20 minutes.
Stumbled across this link. Seems pretty legit at 5 dollars each. You gotta buy at least 5 units though. Way cheaper than over 100 dollars for one.

Going to risk the purchase. Will report on the quality of the LCDs once they come in.
Thanks man I'd love to know if they are good. If so I'm buying a bunch and selling them at 30 dollars each.
Holy ****! i will be really suprised if they are good - hell i will buy a few at that price. and hey, doesn't this mean we can change the color of our Gnotes too? all you would need is the back plate
Hmm I would like to grab one. Guess I'll need to put some cash in the bank!

Yeah I'm pretty sure it means that you can change the colour of your G-Note for like 6 bucks.
Anyone receive an order?

Does this include the actual OLED display too?! My Note was a display model...still looks good, but has a bit of burn in (not bad, just slightly noticeable with certain colors) and I'm sure the screen isn't as bright as it was when I first got it...
I'd easily pay $25-30 for a new screen!
Edit: I emailed the seller/supplier about minimum order (since I don't need 5), asked for current pricing, and asked (just to be clear) if this is indeed the digitizer AND OLED screen.
I know all of this is covered on the product page...but something about getting a Note digitizer and the OLED all for $5 a pop just seems improbable. I mean, this has to be GROSSLY under even manufacturing costs...let alone retail costs. I would think the materials alone would be well over $5.
EDIT: JUST GOT A REPLY FROM THE SELLER AND THE PRICE ON ALIBABA IS INCORRECT. THE ACTUAL PRICE FOR EACH IS ~$160 OR MORE. SORRY FOLKS!
Yeah I guess 160 isn't so bad. They should fix that price or sell them for the posted price

What? They should be similar prices, no one in their right mind would sell an HD screen for $3-5...

I replaced the LCD+digitizer on my iPhone 4S last year and the whole thing including shipping and a tool kit (couple screwdrivers, etc) was like 30 bucks, and quality was identical to the original. These things are cheap to make. They're made in such high quantity that the marginal cost is very low and these are probably overruns or something. That said, $160 is about as ridiculous on the high side as $5 would be on the low side.
Do you know what the cost difference are in manufacturing a 5.3" AMOLED 1280x800 screen with Wacom digitizer is vs. a 3.5" IPS 960x640 screen with capacitive digitizer?
Honest question...not being a smartass or anything. I think the Note's screen would be considerably more expensive.
the iPhone replacement digitizers are not original quality, most are close but dont include certain part like sensor braces. Just did an iPhone 5 and it was slightly different but for price vs quality most people wont pay the difference.

I want to buy.. How can i buy
Hello!
I have sold my xz-premium and bought the lg g7 plus thinq 6gb and 128.
However i have ordered the middle frame parts before selling the phone. Now the new owner doesnt want to pay for them, he says his xz premium is fine (i have sold him without scratches). I have 2 kits, total 8 pcs, luminous chrome. Selling them, prefferably in Europe with PayPal or bank transfer. Price is 50 EUR + ems taxes (around 15 EUR) for 2 kits (8 pcs) i will give you the link on the swappa website as soon as I register there.
Is changing them easy?
Yes. They have some click clamps. IDK if removing is easy, but for sure installing is just pushing and clik the clamps. Pm me if you are intrested, I have 2 sets, brand new, silver color.
Guys, Anybody suggest me where could i get the front glass for my poco f1 which got shattered but touch sensitivity is perfect. Suggest me any online store as i currently couldnt get in amazon or flipkart. Visited mi service centre and they r ready replace at 50% of the mobile cost. I asked to replace only screen but not agreed. Finding the screen at around Rs1000 but unable to trust which site to go. Pls suggest me.
i brough my screens from aliexpress.. its like a chinese ebay.. lot of sellers.. but they have a very good return policy..
Those are generic which you are seeing online. Same are available offline for the same amount. Mi doesn't sell display glass so there's no genuine thing available as such. I changed my locally in Rs. 1100. Don't buy online as the repairer won't give you guaranty of the job. Generic is as good as original. I didn't find any difference.

There is a factor of brightness. I did the same and now I am stuck with a less bright display.... SO do compare the brightness with an original out-of-the-box display device right after you get it replaced, in front of the person, whoever you buy it from.

Website myfixparts.com has what you need they says it's OEM version for us$3.50 but true repairer won't guarantee if he doesn't use his own parts but also be careful of the non OEM parts see my post on Xiaomi mi mix 2s screen repair.
You can ask the repair person to buy that particular part as replacement and then carry out the repair.
