Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact LTE - no permission to unlock bootloader - Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact Q&A, Help & Troubleshooti

I've got a Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact LTE. I'm hoping to flash it with a custom ROM but alas it doesn't appear to have permission for the bootloader to be unlocked.
Is there any other way to get TWRP onto this to flash another ROM, or is it forever trapped on stock Marshmallow?
Thanks!

[HOW-TO][Root+TWRP Recovery][LB]Stock Marshmallow 6.0.1 (23.5.A.0.575/.291), but if you can't unlock the BL then you can't flash a kernel, so yes you're probably stuck with MM.

[Q] downgrade back to kitkat 4.4.4

Is it possible to go back to stock kitkat 4.4.4 ftf from a stock lollipop 5.0.2 without having any issues like losing imei number or any other problems? My xperia z ultra 6833 was not upgraded from 4.4.4 to 5.0.2 with Ota. I flash with a stock 5.0.2 ftf via flashtool
Thanks

You have to wait til 5.0.2 is rootable. Check Sony site maybe you can unlock the bootloader on lollipop.

Why do I need to wait for 5.0.2 root? Or unlock bootloader? I wasnt rooted and my zu bootloader was locked when I upgraded from 4.4.4 to 5.0.2 with Sony flash tool. All I needed was a ftf file with same region

I'm not sure if you can downgrade that way. I would try? Maybe not? If anything goes wrong you could always just flash stock again.
If you root and unlock bootloader you can move between android. I'm on 5.0.2 I can go back to kitkat anytime I want.
Has anyone downgraded from 5.0.2 to 4.4.4 yet? without having to root or unlock their bootloader. The reason I don't want to unlock my bootloader is because I accidentally erased my ta backup. That's why Im trying to get back to 4.4.4 so I can root and backup my ta again to unlock my bootloader. I just want to know if it is safe to downgrade my 6833 zu without root or unlocked bootloader
Thanks
Lollipop uses a different firmware so probably not. I didn't black up my TA .. I just went about unlocking it.
Try to flash a 4.4.4 ftf?
Yes but I want to back up my ta first before I unlock my bootloader because if I don't I'll lose the xreality keys and warranty. so it has different firmware so 5.0.2 won't be downgradable to 4.4.4? so you suggest I wait for a 5.0.2 root.
Sorry yes I wanted to to flash a stock 4.4.4 ftf with Sony flashtool
I figured I would give an update I was able to downgrade from 5.0.2 to 4.4.4 ftf with a locked bootloader without any problems

So someone who gets an Ota for lollipop can turn around and root their phone? The only reason you're rooted is because you downloaded a pre rooted rom.
So again lollipop is un rootable
So has anybody followed this guide?
Was it effective? I am reluctant to unlock my bootloader but on how my xzu sounds on my earphones, I am very eager to install V4A.
i am go to sony service center for downgrade the xperia z ultra from 5.0.2 to 4.4.4 but they said xperia z ultra chipset cannot support downgrade there any solution for downgrade bcoz my z ultra only get software by pc companion and flashtool and custom rom cannot work plz help me i flsah custom rom then device stuck on sony logo

You're in the wrong device section. This is the Z Ultra forum. Anyhow, I see that you have the ZL, so I'll make this short. Tell me your region, and I'll make you a 4.4.4 FTF.
EDIT: I'm assuming the C6506 is the American version of the ZL, so the only 4.4.4 file that's available is the one for Puerto Rico. I'm building it now, so I'll put a link to it here when it's done.

Rooting guide

Is anyone willing to put together easy to follow rooting guide for Xpreria Z4 Tablet?
I am a new owner of said tablet and so far I am little lost still.
So far I have figured out that I need to unlock bootloader trough Sony developer website and then flash AndroPlusKernel v21 +, TWRP, SuperUser...
My tablet is currently running Android 5.0.2 (Build 280.A.8.260) and I am itching to upgrade to Marshmallow. Can I flash AndroPlusKernel once I upgrade to Marshmallow or do it now? I own Xpreria Z3 phone and rooting needs to be done on lower Android versions because otherwise one needs to downgrade first to root and then flash modified ROM.

Hi,
Unlocking bootloader causes a factory reset. So you lose the update to MM (I'm not sure after all
After that see my post here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/z4-...ooting-attempt-using-androplus-t3331928/page2

I suggest
doing an OTA update to MM while on stock (this is the easiest update path)
make sure MyXperia is OFF at all times
unlock bootloader through Sony (tablet will be wiped)
flash AndroPlus Kernel (v20+)
flash TWRP (see AndroPlus Kernel topic)
flash SuperSU
make absolutely sure MyXperia is OFF at all times
Optional: donate a bit to AndroPlus and Chainfire, or buy some of their apps / Pro licenses, to thank them for their hard work

Perfect, done! I'm running rooted Marshmallow now. Many thanks!
I want to do exactly the same and have some questions.
Is app "MyXperia" installed in MM ? I'm asking because I cant find it any more.
Is it possible and safe completely uninstall "MyXperia" it after root MM ?
Any advices ?

I can see my Xperia in Settings/Security on Marshmallow where it gives you an option to activate it.
I don't see it among apps where it could be disabled or uninstalled...
Everything sounds good but:
How do you boot into recovery?
How can you flash SU from Fastboot?
I'm stock in that step, please help.

Once you flash recovery, restart your tablet and press volume down button when the white screen with SONY Xperia is on and "yellowish/greenish" LED lights up. The LED will turn orange and tablet will enter recovery. While in recovery, flash SuperSU that you have previously downloaded and saved on your tablet.

Did you upgrade to Marshmallow?
When I was on Lollipop, I accidentally activated myXperia (which was stupid of me) and I got errors from fastboot commands like yours. But when I upgraded to Marshmallow, I was able to successfully disable myXperia and this resulted in me being able to unlock the bootloader and finally root my device.
So try upgrading to Marshmallow if you haven't.

Hi Riveria and Farfetch, may I ask which version of Marshmallow that can help on re-enable the bootloader unlock? I have tried to flash the following marshmallow:
SGP771_Benelux Generic_1295-6964_32.1.A.1.163_R3C
SGP771_Customized MEA_1295-0785_32.1.A.1.185_R5C

SO-05G_32.1.E.1.98_1297-4710_R19C
Both cannot help to re-enable bootloader unlock (my Z4T has bootloader unlock allowed: no). Can you help to give me more hints? Thanks a lot! :crying:

How can I root my Z2 with Marshmallow?

Hey!
recently flashed the Autralian MM FTF onto my Z2 D6503!
Now i miss my loved apps like Greenify, Lucky Patcher, Intelli3G, XPOSED, a custom recovery, amplify and so on. I tried to root it using KingRoot4.6 (sucsessfully) and then used Supersume.apk to replace the kingroot app with supersu. but after every reboot i need to root it again, which means my methode isn``t working problery! How can i root it? i really want SuperSU, Busybox, Xposed and the [NUT`s] Dual Recovery!
thats the build:
D6503_23.5.A.0.570_1281-9715_R4D
It depends on weather you want to unlock your bootloader or not
I typically flash a Kernel with recovery then flash systemless root but you do require a unlocked bootloader to do it this way
You could downgrade to KK, use a root tool to install root and recovery then use recovery to upgrade to a pre-rooted MM
Sent from my D6503 using XDA-Developers mobile app
Afaik the only way for the moment, it's to downgrade to a previous version, then flash a MM pre rooted rom.

You can use a tool called PRFCreator, you will need a SuperSu zip and a FTF of your choice

I tried to do that (downgrading to KK, rooting, dual recovery, making a flashable pre rooted MM) but ended up with bootloops. Tried to flash a stock however I, with difficulty, could only flash KK again. This time I used wirelessly downloaded all the software updates.
I think I will wait some time, till a better way exists.
There is a pre-rooted MM in the forum, I've tried earlier. But it is for D6503, not my d6502. It has a 3g fix, but in About Phone, it reads D6503. And root isn't working there as well. or perhaps I was doing something wrong.
I'm starting to think that MM isn't root-friendly
