The first thing you need to do is install twrp on your device. See ashyx guide in the development threads. Installing it will wipe your device so make sure to backup first. Once that is installed you can flash custom roms.

Hi.
Could someone suggest a custom kernel for getting root and cwm.
I would also appreciate a link to the stock kernel for my phone.

With this method can i then backup my stock Rom and then flash a custom Rom.
And then if i want to go back to stock Rom i would restore backup and use unroot method.
For stock firmware, go to sammobile.com. Register and then get the firmware for your country

I would suggest siyah or dorimanx kernels.
And what is your reason for wanting the stock kernel?

I have a MyPhone A888 and it is version 4.0.4. My question is, can I install a custom rom that is 4.1.2? I was planning on installing this (Yonip A888 4.1.2 V5): http://forum.frandroid.com/topic/142780-rom-yonip-a888-412-v5-28042013/, which I found on this list of A888 roms: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=41729090. So can I install it? Or should I stick to 4.0.4 custom roms? Thanks!

You can install any rom of any version you want but it MUST be for your exact device.

Yes. The version doesn't matter. You can be sure to install a ROM for YOUR device (if not you can get a hard-brick and this is not good...).
Remember to do FULL WIPE when you change version.
Any other doubts just tell me

Root is already done on custom roms. 4.3 has developers options and root in there. If you dont see dev options tap build about 5 times and it will come up in menu.
Edit: do you mean your on stock rom and no root? If so yes you need to root first. Sorry haven't read posts to well today.
What firmware do you have? Gb/ics/jb?

I had rooted an HTC Desire, for Cyanogen. First with Samsung and Paranoid. Btwn I have i9100 model.
So pick say lss philz zip and flash that in recovery. Make sure you put it on ext sd and go to recovery and then update. Reboot and root with cwm recovery is done. Then follow op in pa for how to install pa rom.
Im on biftor v11 with apollo kernel.

Guys I am using Galaxy S3 I9300. I am rooted and currently using a Kitkat ROM. I want to flash a 4.3 based custom ROM. When we downgrade so we have to flash a different radio? If yes then from where can I flash the radio? Thanks in advance.
Regards
Simply flash any Sammy's 4.3 through Odin, you don't need to do anything else unless you have ariza-broken /efs, and I guess you have not.

Guys I don't know whats the confusion here. But again I am explaining my problem. I want to flash revolutionary S5 V3 ROM on my Galaxy S3. Here is the link of the ROM:
forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/development/rom-smartdroid-v1-0-t2602543
Now my question is that since this ROM is based on Android 4.3 and I am currently using Dirty Unicorns which is based on Android 4.4.2 so do I have to flash radio in order to use that ROM or I just simply flash that ROM? And if I have to flash radio then please provide me the link from where I can flash it. Hope now you understand.
Simply flash through recovery, no action required.
I am not sure if it will be ok to install a 4.3 based rom over 4.4.2. Help anyone?
