Some Questions on rooting and unlocking my bootloader LG v30 Plus - LG V30 Questions & Answers

hello ive unlock bootloaders and rooted androids for a long time now. but i got a sony xperia xz about 3 years back i think. And i did not know about DRM keys.
what a pain to get that to work after wiping my DRM partition. after that i upgraded to the LG v30 plus and i've just been to scared to try anything. after the sony xz incident.
my questions are
1. Are the DRM keys different on LG?
2. Can you backup DRM keys
3. will i have the same problems like with my sony xz

This isn't a Sony. Your questions are irrelevant for LG V30. In fact that's stated at the very beginning of the WTF INSTRUCTIONS. (See attached screenshot.)
Unlocking bootloader and rooting does not degrade any functionality whatsoever. In fact it increases functionality. For instance, LG gave the V30 DTS 3D Stereo libs in latter Oreo and Pie -- but you need root to enable that.
This is thread you want:
ROOT Your LG V30!
https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-v30/how-to/root-v30-t3927154
Especially read post #1 of that thread. It will probably direct you to WTF Instruction, but just in case you have the ONE LG V30+ which needs alternate method, you need to read that post.

LG G Pad X 8.0 (Tmo) rootable?

Hi, first android device in a very long time. Doesnt seem to be any conversation about this newly released device. Would any of the roms/mods/etc for the LG G Pad 8.0 also work for this device? Any help would be appreciated. I made a request for a device subforum but im a little unsure how else to go about getting the ball rolling.
I just got it too. I honestly don't even care about rooting. I just want stock Android. My Nexus has me spoiled.
On your side.. already unlocked bootloader and got the 128gb microsd from SanDisk for this beauty!

There's another thread which seems to be the main thread to discuss unlocking the bootloader, adoptable storage, and hopefully eventually custom recovery and root.

A little late, but maybe, still useful.
The situation is similar with G5 (some fastboot commands are missing). However, .tot method will do the trick.
That's when we get a .kdz file. Most likely when Nougat comes out. But if we can get the .hex and .bin to revive the phone....
I have the AT&T version seems very similar except mine has 32gb of storage not 16gb. Pretty sweet so far for getting it free.
The current software, V52110b, is vulnerable to all four of the vulnerabilities recently disclosed and nicknamed "QuadRooter." If someone reverse engineers the patch, it should show how to exploit the vulnerability for root.

Hello, I'm sorry for my redundant question.
My only biggest fear is that developers stops supporting drm fix so when a new update become available, people who rooted their phone will be stuck with old software version.
I don't know if this ever happened, since it is my first sony device.
So if anyone could report their experience with drm fix support over time it will be great
However, I found a tool over here called xperifix. I may give it a try
If you have doubts about rooting your phone it certainly means that you shouldn't do it. Otherwise if you want to do so that bad just stop updating your phone when support stops.

You don't lose anything using xperifix or Jan Jan kernel. I don't think we lost support so easily, Xperia Z2 was supported until latest stock firmware, XZ is still being supported on last current firmware. But like nick0s23 said, if you have fear.. Think it twice.

Simple answer:
No.
More detailed answer:
No, if you're referring to 1-click root methods or similar, those have not worked on major OEM premium flagship phones for the past 5 or 6 years due to increased security by OEMs.
Last one I remember was the 2012 LG G2 , maybe 2013 LG G3?
In particular, do NOT believe any of the websites that urge you to download and install ad malware/crypto currency generator malware pretending it will root your phone. It won't -- but it will mess up your phone. Oh, they don't call it that, of course.
All V30 variants in the world can be rooted, but you have to unlock the bootloader to do so. For your AT&T H931, you simply need to follow the WTF instructions.
For everyone else see post #1 of this sticky for an overview to rooting ANY of the V30:

Question Question of downgrade Android 12 to Android 11

Hello anyone, I am the new comer of the XDA. Nice to meet you here. Let move on to my questions.
I have a HK version Xperia 1 III(XQ-BC72), and I love the device.
However after I received and upgraded to Android 12(61.1.A.1.149), the nightmare comes.
There are bugs on Android 12 and I does not like the UI and some of UI interaction logic.
It makes me so upset and very regret it.
So that I have an idea to downgrade the firmware from Android 12(61.1.A.1.149) to Android 11(61.0.A.23.20).
I already seen the "How to Guide" to know how to unlock and relock the bootloader, and flashing the firmware so on.
But I still some question here. Hope someone can answer...
1. DRM things
While unlock the bootloader, DRM will gone.
But relock the bootloader and using Xperia Companion to repair, most of the DRM may come back that I know.
However, using Xperia Companion to repair will update to latest firmware.
So, is there anyway to get back the DRM without using Xperia Companion?
(Or, does Xperia Companion repair is the only way can get back some of DRM keys?)
It is good if the DRM key can back.
2. Exclusive Functions
Does unlock and relock the bootloader will cause some function loss?
The Xperia smartphone have a Trim Area(TA) that I know. If the TA is missing, some functions will be loss.
I know Xperia 2021 device does not have hardware function loss after unlock. But how about the exclusive function such as Dolby, DSEE, Creator display mode?
I does not want there are any function loss, include exclusive function.
I know unlock the device may void my warranty, so on I will not unlock my device and take this action before my warranty is over.
Even through I does not have a plan to start it yet, but It is still good to know everything before get started.
Hope someone can answer the question, thanks.
You do realize that if you "downgrade" that you will no longer receive OTA security updates?
Best thing to do is get used to 12. Learn it and after a few days you will not even notice the difference.
Either that or try and find a custom ROM that will receive updates like LineageOS.

Android 12 on xperia have some big issue, for example the latest android 12 version on Xperia 1 II will never play 4k HDR video. If it's only about the UI i agree with you but right now there are same broken features

I know what I am doing here, that why I am asking for it.
I love stock Android and Sony function so that I choose Xperia.
If Android 12 is a great update, I don't mind it, even I can continue to stay in Android 12.
Android 12 changes some UI logic and UI design, I can try and learn with no problem.
But Android 12 is very buggy, it such a pain. That even worse than Android 11.
That is the main reason that I want to rollback my device system to Android 11.

Nope, I tried to flash the older firmware without unlocking the bootloader.
But it failed, a bootloop appear. Because the Android Rollback Protection is here.
I just do some research here, it need to unlock the bootloader to reset the vbmeta rollback index to 0 for flashing older firmware.
Seem unlock the bootloader is the major step to downgrade the system.

This is exactly what I would like to know as well. Is there a way to downgrade, then re-lock the bootloader and get the DRM restored as described here while keeping the old version?
Xperia 1 - DRM keys back after locking the bootloader ?

Are you talking about unlocking the bootloader, or installing root with something like Magisk?
Unlocking the bootloader tends to be manufacturer specific, although I believe LG is one of the OEMs who hasn't made it easy. As for root, if you're able to unlock the bootloader, chances are root can be attained via a Magisk patch.
I did find this thread, which you probably would have too if you had searched before posting (Rule #1), but be aware that this is NOT for beginners or the faint of heart, and carries a high risk of turning your device into a paperweight.
Let's start with the simple things first. Enable Developer Options. Do you see an OEM Unlock toggle, and is it toggle-able?
