Hello Everyone,
I am using my Lenovo Tab M8 (FHD) (TB-8705F) as a monitor to control a Mavic 2 Pro drone.
When connected to the controller unit it drains the inbuilt battery of the controller, which significantly decreases operation time. I enabled developer options and under "Default USB Configuration" I selected "File Transfer". However, each time the DJI GO4 app is launched this setting is over-ridden and it starts charging the tablet.
There are a few apps available that can turn off charging if the device is rooted.
I searched all over the internet and could not find a way to root my Lenovo Tab M8 (FHD) (TB-8705F).
Please suggest any links on how to go about this process.
Some of the processes I found need the stock-ROM, but no-one has uploaded a stock-ROM yet anywhere.
So I looked at how I can make a stock-ROM. To use those method I have tried to use MediaTek SP Flash Tool (ver 5.1944.10).
Still NO-GO. It does not support MediaTek Helio P22T Tab Octa-core 2.3G platforms yet.
Now I am in a bind. Please suggest an alternative way to root this device.
Some additional details of this tablet:

My bootloader is unlocked.
and I have tried these methods without much success, any suggestions on how I can make a ROM backup?
I tried these two tutorials to take a ROM backup, however, without much success.
https://android.stackexchange.com/q...nd-full-rom-without-root-for-mediatek-devices
https://forum.hovatek.com/thread-21970.html
The first issue I noticed with Wwr_MTK (I downloaded the latest version I could find: WwR_2.51_Eng) is that it did not have a drop-down option for the Mediatek MT6762.
It had options for MT6761 & 6763, but not for 6762. So it did not have a pre-configured scatter file format to choose from. So I used the option-2 and modified the Template.ini file to include it into the drop down menu options.
The second issue I came across was that Smart Phone Flash Tool (I downloaded the latest version I could find: SP_Flash_Tool_v5.1944) did not support MT6762 either. It has support for MT6761, though.
So I am not able to use SP Flash Tool to make a backup for the stock firmware.
Any suggestions on how to get past this roadblock?

I just tried that. Problem is that the M8 (FHD) TB-8705F isnt available to choose in the list of devices. On ROMDevelopers there is mirror of {Mod edit: Link removed - Oswald Boelcke, Moderator} available which I'm unable to download because I have no membership. Maybe some can upload the file somewhere else. Guessing from the filename the URL on the official lenovo server should be https://rsdsecure-cloud.motorola.com/download/TB-8705F_USR_S100058_1911122350_V5.140_BMP_ROW.zip but since I have no download permission which is only granted through Lenovo Moto Smart Assistant I cant download it either. Please excuse the late reply to this thread. I was "locked-away" from my desktop computer as I had traveled out of state and a country wide lockdown was imposed here in India, right after I left--which was close to two and a half months--we were not allowed to travel beyond our neighbourhoods on most occasions, forget between cities in the same state, or even between states. It was a heavy handed lock-down of the entire country. I had left the tablet back at my hometown, so I could not pursue rooting it further for this duration. Just got back two days back and am going through the replies.
Yaryk777 is correct. I just checked (and downloaded) the stock firmware available through Lenovo Moto Smart Assistant (LMSA), which I did.
Not sure how to go about rooting the device from here, if anyone can suggest how to root a Mediatek device when a stock firmware is available I would really appreciate it. I had links to a few methods, but have forgotten them now since I have been away. I tried the two methods mentioned in my earlier post, and both did not work.
TWRP does not have a supported recovery for this device.
Any suggestions how to go about it?

I bought the same tablet to replace the 2013 nexus 7 I have running in my honda fit. For the lenovo to work I need the tablet to support otg charging. On the nexus 7 I installed timur's kernel to make that work. On this as far as I can tell, I need to update a flag in the kernel per these docs, https://android.googlesource.com/ke...-marshmallow-dr/Documentation/usb/msm_otg.txt (search for ID_C in the ACA section). Any help would be appreciated on accomplishing that.
Thanks,
Peter

1. Install Magisk Manager on your device.
2. Copy the boot.img file (this is in the firmware) to your internal storage.
3. Run Magisk Manager and select Install. Then select patch file.

In that archive is a folder for 8GB phones. Unpack all archive and copy the files in target_bin_8GB files folder and overite the files from target_bin folder. Then and only then flash the 8GB phones!
Good Luck.

After installing this ROM (v2.0 GUI for 8GB), my phone unable to get the signal and it says "SIM ME Locked, do you want to unlock?" I press Unlock and nothing happened.
Try revert back to JB S123_ROW, and still the same, but this time I had to put the unlock code. (see the attached file). Tried standard 1234 but still unable to unlock my SIM, and it said I still have 3 more attempt to put the unlock code. Anybody can help me?

First try recovering IMEI backup using mobile uncle. If you dont see both the SIM working even after that, you may have to try a different Radio. Try flashing the attached, if you are using the device in India.

How about the camera on this version? I'm on the stock 226 and the can had lots of lag. I make a video and the sound and the picture are out of sync. Any fix for that?
I accidentally used the ROM a rom of the S7 MT6580, to flash my note 7 (Clone) n930f MT6580 with sp flash tool.
Now my phone is stocked at the Android boot logo & sometimes it wont even start. How can I solve this issue or is there a correct ROM for my phone?
Another rom that is suitable is fine to if I can install that without having ADB/download modus on(not possible).
You will be hard pressed as cline devices use a hacked together version of Android and almost never post the files due to copyright lawsuits.
Also xda doesn't deal with knock offs.

Try to flash it with the stock rom suited for your device. If it does not solve the problem, try to post in a thread related to your device and its problems The thread should have many replies for a higher chance that your question to be noticed by other members.

Do you know where I could find the right Rom, I managed to find a "system . img" file. (dont know if it is a right phone, but that one does not have a scatter file in it so don't know how this would work since I don have a working OS to install or use twrp recovery on my phone.
I also discovered a ROM of liniage os that is suitable with my device, but then again I need to have twrp recovery on my device.
ADB and download modus is not possible on my phone unfortunately.

I found a here https://mtkfirmware.blogspot.com/2016/11/samsung-note-7-clone-firmware-mt6580.html you should check it out to see if its your rom. Download it then extract. Most of the time the .rar file contains the SCATTER FILE specifically for that rom. But if it doesn't, just google it.

Good evening to all.
I have spent more than 24h searching over the internet how to unlock the bootloader of my device, in order to flash twrp and enjoy a custom rom.
The problem is that my bootloader is locked, as fastboot states after oem device-info. I have tried various configs and drivers (windows 7 32 bit, windows 10, linux) with no luck.
Enable usb debugging, oem unlock are enabled. My phone is rooted with kingroot and i have removed screen locks (some suggested that it may cause the problem in other devices).
Here is the procedure i am following:
1. Proper installation of drivers and adb (both windows and linux)
2. With the device turned on --> adb devices and i get my device's output
3. adb reboot bootloader --> ok
4. fastboot devices --> ok
5. fastboot boot twrp --> fails cause of locked bootloader
6. fastboot oem unlock and similar won't do the trick.
If someone has a clue, please help. Even a link to something working will be fine, I don't want to spent your time.
Thanks in advance.
If you have got Lenovo then go to developer options and there you will see OEM Unlocking option enable it. And try the steps once again.
Thanks for your reply, but I've done that already
SOLVED!
For future reference, look for the answer in TWRP section, page 83.
I used qspt to flash another (stock) rom, then fastboot worked fine.

My k5 is the A6020l36, has a Snapdragon 616 too. I think your k5 is very supported... what was wrong with custom roms?. I been testing Lineage 14.1 and AOKP, both are Ok, but with the Lineage i have better results.
I wanted to point out that maybe there are two variants for a6020a41. Both aokp and nougat worked fine, apart some "stopped working" errors from time to time. Stock ROM just seems easier to me, same battery life as custom roms, so why not?

4. fastboot devices --> ok
5. fastboot boot twrp --> fails cause of locked bootloader
6. fastboot oem unlock and similar won't do the trick.
If someone has a clue, please help. Even a link to something working will be fine, I don't want to spent your time.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Guys. My HV10 was on on EMUI 9. I tried downgrading to EMUI 8 using HuRupdater but it won't boot now and is not responding to charger getting plugged in or out. I tried plugging it in on my pc and a dialog box opened saying "Configuring USB SER for use" then nothing. It's not showing up as adb and fastboot device. Kindly help.

You should be able to restore from a backup using Hisuite. There is a system recovery option also.

It's telling me to boot to fastboot which I'm unable too.
Update:- I think it's in testpoint mode. I don't exactly know what it is and how to exit it.

Check mate 10 and 20 forums there are guides to solve your problem.
Hisuite won't work as it's hard bricked.
Btw which emui 8 version build did you flash ?
What is its xloader version?
What build are you before using this method?

I was on EMUI 9.0.0.190 (not sure if this was the exact one, it was the latest version as far as I know)and tried to downgrade to EMUI 8.0.0.171. Dunno the xloader version.
Also I borrowed my friend's DC Phoenix account and was following it's guide. Does anyone know which board this phone has so that I can download it's software.

It's already coming as COM 1.0 in device manager. Trying to flash update.app (only fastboot part) but it shows no device detected to upgrade. Had downloaded a board software and clicked update button. I clicked update button and it detected the device but showed that I don't have enough credits.

I am trying to get back to stock everything. I have a UK model, STF-L09 C432 variant. This is day 3 of pain.
1. I've downloaded various versions of update.zip from https://pro-teammt.ru/en/online-firmware-database/?firmware_model=STF-L09C432&firmware_page=0. I make sure to go for the FULLOTA-MF versions so as to get the system partition.
2. I've extracted the following paritions using the huawei update extractor tool and flashed each:
System – fastboot flash system SYSTEM.IMG
Ramdisk – fastboot flash ramdisk RAMDISK.IMG
Kernel – fastboot flash kernel KERNEL.IMG
Recovery – fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk RECOVERY_RAMDIS.IMG
3. I try to boot to recovery with VOLUME UP + POWER. Bootloops into erecovery which only has an option to "Download latest version and recovery", Reboot or Shutdown
4. I try the download option. It connects to wifi successfully then says "getting package info failed".
5. I try to boot the phone normally and the same as step 3 happens, erecovery.
I notice the FULLOTA-MF has two files, update.zip and update_full_STF-L09_hw_eu.zip. Am I meant to be extracting something from there and flashing it too?
I should mention prior to me putting on a custom rom many moons ago (openkirin one) I had to upgrade to android 8. SO it is android 8 images I have been trying to install. I don't care about losing data.

Can you access stock recovery?
If you can access stock recovery then you should try connecting to your WiFi and sees if it downloads stock firmware for your device?

Unfortunately that doesn't work. Just times out with "getting package info failed".

No worries, and I can't agree with you more. I ain't touching another Honor/Huawei device ever again. I've never had this much trouble dealing with flashing with any other brand.
