Hello,
I have an issue when I am using WiFi alongside with a Bluetooth connection. More specifically, whenever I have a Bluetooth device connected, the phone cannot connect to a WiFi network.
On the other hand, when I first connect to WiFi and then connect to a Bluetooth headset and make a call, the sound is distorted and robot-like.
It seems like the phone internally mismanages the WiFi and Bluetooth.
To makes things worse, I just updated from a Mi A1 which had the exact same issue.
I am on a 64GB Mi A3 with the September 2020 security patch.
Does anybody else have the same issue?
Any known fixes are really welcome
Thank you,
Nick

September 2020 security?
For me is a small bug with wifi and bluetooth.
When bluetooth device is connecter i have slow wifi not robot and anything else.
I have security patch February 2020.
This is not a bug of this phone. If you connecting to the WI-FI with the 2.4 GHz line, these two signals are disturbing each other. To fix this problem you can connect to the 5.8 GHz line of your ADSL.
If there is no support for 5.8 GHz in your ADSL you need to buy a new one.

It doesn't fix the problem. Made tests both on 2.4 and 5 ghz wifi and connection runs extremelly slow when bluetooth turns on. It is not even necessary to have any device connected on bluetooth. The fact of being turned on make wifi and 4g connection goes down.
what about different rom? I know that is a hardware issue but with different kernel and rom anyone tried it?

Just noticed that for me, bluetooth audio to a Sony Ericsson MH100 headset will skip and drop out for periods as WiFi is active in connecting/disconnection to a network, or actively transferring data.
- Tried PowerAMP with various buffer settings, but audio cuts out instantly when activating WiFi, so audio buffer doesn't even have time to run out, and music is still progressing within the played track as the audio cuts out.
- Tried Samsung Music player, still same issue.
This can happen in some phones/cases and is not uncommon, but it never happened with my SGS1. Are the WiFi and Bluetooth functions sharing the antenna now, and weren't in the SGS1? Poorly written drivers for the Stock ROM in the SGS2 (I was using CM7 for a long period with my SGS1)?
Anyone else care to test this, maybe there are some details that makes this preventable, depending on how the phone connects to certain networks or such? Currently I don't have any other headphones to test, though I mildly doubt that will make a difference.
BT & WiFi both use the 2.4GHz band, so interference between them is not unusual. If you can, try a different WiFi channel; it's usually a setting on the WiFi router/access point.
I've read that the SGS2 supports the 5 GHZ WiFi band, so that may be an option. However, I just tried it on my SGS2, with my Netgear WNDR3700 router, which has both 2.4 & 5 GHz access points. The SGS2 couldn't see the 5 GHz network, but works just fine with the 2.4 GHz network.
They use the same frequency, and many phones share the same antenna for Bluetooth and wifi too. My Nokia n95 would stutter Bluetooth music when I used wifi to load pages, due to throughput constraints I assumed at the time. Looks like this is still the case with phones.

Thanks for the reply, when you say that it works fine on the 2.4GHz band, it doesn't interfere with bluetooth audio for you when using WiFi? That's hopeful, I just hoped it wasn't a 100% limitation with the phone, that it constantly has to switch between either bluetooth audio or WiFi activity.
I used to be able to connect to my 5ghz wifi network without a problem. It stopped working recently when I flashed one of the CM9 ROMs. I thought it had something to do with the ROM but it was working on earlier CM9 builds. I flashed back to Task650's v14.1 ROM where it used to work fine but I still can't connect. It sees the network but when I click connect it doesn't do anything. I haven't made any changes on my router and I can connect to my 2.4ghz network fine. I have a Linksys E3200 router with the 5ghz network setup on channel 36, 40mhz channel width and WPA2 personal security. I've tried changing all the settings on the router but i still can't connect. I did Odin back to stock last week because I was getting a lot of reboots on the CM9 ROM I was running. After that I flashed CWM and then flashed the latest CM9 ROM. It seems like the trouble connecting to my 5ghz network started around that same time.
Does anyone have any idea what problem could be? I have a 7510 32gb Tab.
Thanks.
Does anyone have this issue? I Odin'd back to stock 3.1 and I still couldn't connect to my 5ghz network. When I click on the network it doesn't do anything. I found this issue with the galaxy nexus connecting to 5ghz wifi - http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=22474. A lot of the posts on there describe the exact same problem I am having. I used to be able to connect fine then it stopped working. It was working fine on the stock ROM, all of Task650's ROMs and all the CM9 KAMGs. I was flashing a lot of the CM9 ROMs during the time it stopped working. It could be a hardware issue, but the fact that it sees the network fine makes me think it's not. I recently upgraded the firmware on my router and did a factory reset on it but that didn't help.
I have this same problem on my Galaxy Nexus. Put your phone really close to your router (a few inches) and I bet it will connect on the 5GHz band.
If it connects at really close range then you know the hardware is damaged... my guess is samsung has some kind of serious design flaw in their phones for this to be happening to so many people on different models of their phones.
5GHz bug?
I recently discovered that my Tab 10.1 works with low channels (eg 36) but not high channels (eg 149). I was surprised to find quite a number of postings about the same issue. Is there a firmware issue or is it a bad RF chip? It seems Samsung has a problem...
If anyone is still having this problem I found something that worked for me. The info below is copied from this issue http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=40999#c4
"...only channels 36, 40, 44 and 48 work for 5GHz on the Galaxy Nexus. (My AP was on auto and blasting on # 149).
I manually set it to 48 and presto I was connected."
There's an error in the configuration file- /system/etc/wifi/nvram_net.txt

Hello everyone.
As a proud owner of Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Pro, I have a problem that lasts for month now.
I actually have a Mi Band that is always connected via bluetooth on my phone, and i need bluetooth to be always on. The problem is that when i am on the 2.4 ghz band on my wifi, sometimes the internet speed drops to 1 mbp or less, as well as an high ping and totally unstable connexion.
The fact is the problem is totally random and not related to a specific use of the bluetooth (except for controllers apparently ). In fact, where i use a bluetooth speaker as well, i do not have any problem. The problem is not specific to my phone, as i had the same problem with my previous phone ( a OnePlus X ) and with my Onda Tablet as well ( Wifi is unusable when i connect for example a bluetooth controller ).
The problem totally disappears when i use the 5 ghz band or when i desactivate the bluetooth (but for a reason, the 2.4 ghz band seems more "sensible" of interferences ). For notice, my rooter is a dual band (2,4 Ghz and 5 ghz).
I have tried to change the wifi channel on my router, it's the same problem as well. The problem lasts for months now and really consumed my patience, as he appears totally randomly and with no reason at all ( except for controllers ). I have searched for answers but cannot find any satisfactory response, only some clues related more or less with my problem. I can live somewell with the problem but actually i need solutions or at least clues of the origin of the problem
Phone : Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Pro (Special "Global" Edition)
Rooter : Orange Livebox Play (France ISP)
Thank you in advance for your help
Edit : I Know that Bluetooth use the same frequency as the wifi, but normally the bluetooth has been made to "prevent" such interferences. The fact is that in my case these interferences occur without any clue of their origin
+1 ... have you found a fix?
I also have the problems with wifi and bluetooth, but on the bluetooth mouse instead of mi band. As soon as I start downloading something, mouse cursor starts to lag. As I have researched the problem, the only real solution was to change wifi to 5ghz like you mentioned. Unfortunately, my router doesn't have 5ghz band, so the workaround I found was to change the Channel selection on the router from Auto to some other channel. The problem didn't disappear, but it's not lagging as much anymore.
Also, why don't leave router on 5ghz?
10 inch version
I've read some reports saying that wifi speed takes a plunge when bluetooth is activated. But the thing is, I'm getting ridiculously slow speeds even with bluetooth OFF.
1Mb download on a 100Mb connection. And it doesn't happen to any other devices.
I'm desperate. Can you guys help? I've already tried changing the DNS but it had no improvement at all
Use inSSIDer and analyze your wifi frequencies. Make sure you're on the best channel and mode.
If you router support it, try both 2.4 and 5ghz. And at least for me, Bluetooth don't have to be connected to tablet to interfere with wifi, maybe you use some other Bluetooth gadgets at home?
Hi,
I have a new OnePlus 7T Pro (version 10.1.4.HD01BA) and I'm having wifi stability issues.
The wifi has micro-disconections which impact any application which needs a stable connection (ex: online games, file transfers)
The symptom is a short disconnection from the wifi network: the wifi icon on the top briefly shows a "!" to indicate the disconnection; then everything comes back to normal).
From what I gathrered from different tests, the disconnects only occurs when using wifi on a mesh network (e.g. Orbi) or multi-channel wifi router.
I have no stability issues when using 4G connection.
I also tested 2 different mesh networks, the OP7TPro Wifi is unstable.
When testing on a simple channel access point (ex: another android phone), the wifi connection is stable.
On the mesh networks which give me stability issues, my older OnePlus5 does not experience any specific problems.
I tried to wipe my phone to factory defaults but the problem persists.
How can I find out if this is related to a software issue or if my device is faulty ?
Thanks,
Hello, I realize, this thread is almost a year old. I bought this phone and I'm having the same issue!
It seems that it maybe is related to bluetooth being turned on.
Have you somehow solved this problem? I read many complaints over the net when googling, but all the suggested solutions don't solve the problem completely, the drops still occur.
The problem has been known for years and occurs not only in the OnePlus 7 phones. When we connect to WiFi 2.4GHz and turn on bluetooth, WiFi transfer decreases drastically, the solution is to connect via WiFi 5GHz if our router allows it. If not, only the mobile network remains.
Well, that's a pity, thanks for your answer.
I also noticed, that the bluetooth range is really poor with my bluetooth headphones in comparison to my previous LG V30.

Use 20Mhz channel on your router instead of 40Mhz, that should solve the throttle in speed issue on 2.4Ghz band

I first faced this trouble in my oneplua 6, so your point about this being a oneplus 7 series problem is wrong
