Just checked the specs of this device and it suddenly averted my plans of purchasing an Asus ROG Phone 2 given the specs and features it offers - and considering that that device doesn't have any working Custom Roms (hey the reason we're here at xda). Now question is, is this device series famous enough to warrant the attention of the devs here? Considering that the Black Shark 2 doesn't have any working roms, even at this point, am I asking for a miracle? Would like to hear your thoughts fellas. Thanks

Hoping for TWRP, decrypt, and Magisk. That's enough to get a 7.1" phone (real objective). Stylus is a bonus.
I really do hope we get root. I'm planning to get one soon simply cuz it seems like the best option for gaming or watching watching movies. Even if the ROG phone 3 comes out later, it won't be any significantly better except the bigger battery but the charging on this phone certainly makes up for that.
I have the same concerns as OP. Currently have a Pixel 4XL and was thinking of moving to the OnePlus 8 Pro. However, this phone seems promising but it would probably be a deal breaker if there isn't any development for it. I'd love to see root with an AOSP ROM.
Just goes to show how appreciative we should be of the developers making all these goodies for us noobs

I agree. With the current issues going around OnePlus display issues, and that really high price tag coupled with the fact that I game alot and OnePlus tends to heat up rather quickly and gets hot to the touch real quick (currently running a 6T) I decidedly to pull the trigger on the Blackshark 3 pro instead. Really hoping for development here, as I think it's a fantastic device that's largely underrated.

Yeah I'm good with TWRP and Magisk setup, as I think we need the stock ROM to utilize its physical trigger buttons. Anyway, its already 3 months and there's no development activity on this thread, hope all is not lost and maybe we'll have some goods waiting on the month of June or July :good:

The issue is mainly blackshark not allowing a bootloader unlock rather than anything else. If we get a supportive community I think it's possible overtime. I'd really just be happy with magisk and a few mods. The phone is already really fast and has great battery life (if you pair it with the 65W charger)

In the meantime if it's no trouble can you please make a thread and tell us how well magisk is working and what modules are working etc. It might encourage other people to look to this option for rooting. We need more people on board if we want any kind of development.

So I've ordered my my first Android phone, the Le Max 2 X829 and while I wait for it to arrive I am thinking about what Custom ROM to install.
I'm wanting something fairly stable for daily use and that won't drain my battery any faster.
At the moment I thinking of using Lineage OS.
Any other suggestions?
Thanks!
Again same question, just read the forum.
Best of luck to you, for a 1st android phone you sure picked a rough phone to learn the fun of customization..
Well I do think that the best rom so far for customization is resurrection remix which has a lot of options and it's really stable, but If you like EUI you can check other roms
Mokee :victory:
I join the question, what would be the best rom currently available? There are so many ...
Most seem to have basic funcionalitys missing , like "camera not working" , which a consider unacceptable.
Maybe question should be different, which ROM has everything (or the most) working in an acceptable manner?
Thanks

Hello,
I can not install the latest Chinese version (23s). I went through the different threads and tried to install custom ROMS. Every time, the same problems: no way to use the Gapps without it crashing, or the phone restarts. If the stock allows me a normal use of the phone, would you have a method with clear steps to install it?

All custom ROMs for Max2 are either buggy, laggy, and have some functions missing or completely untrustworthy.
I mean you must be totally crazy to the point of being an utter idiot to run something prepared by God knows whom and trust your phone with your personal data. You may as well publish all your passwords right here in this forum. I don't understand this obsession with closed source ROMs.
I bought this phone and it's been lying switched off for the past two weeks because I don't know what to run. No options whatsoever.
The official Chinese ROM has tons of stuff I don't want to run and their launcher totally sucks (I'm a Pure Android (read Nexus/Pixel) devotee).

You should buy a pixel or oneplus instead. I run Chinese rom with nova launcher and its good enough for daily use for sure. I really want a oneplus 3t but I am too tight at the moment to bring myself to pay 3 times as much for similar spec but I know the software experience will be loads better.
One thing I would wish for is better battery life but guess it's the immense screen killing it.

A dirt cheap SD820 device with excellent specs.
No, unfortunately I didn't read up on the ROMs situation with this phone. I mean I visited these forums and I saw many ROMs available and people were telling that a fingerprint scanner didn't work (which I don't care at all because I will never use it since I'm actually a security person). I didn't realize this phone camera barely functions with custom ROMs, I didn't realize for instance that LineageOS (which I thought I would be using) was so laggy and its maintainers didn't care.

Microsoft and other companies (including LeEco) have a reputation to keep.
ROM developers don't even have real names. Your perception of the world is clearly skewed.
And no, I don't trust Windows 10, while I fully trust any Windows that came before it (including Windows 95). Oh, btw, there were Windows before 95, but you're probably not aware of them.

Hello to all,
sorry if I open another thread for this request, but Cosmic Dan, dev who was working on MIUI GSI, has abandoned the porting. He told me that all WIP was pushed to GitHub, so please is there any devs who can port MIUI Rom on treble devices? (I have Honor View 10). Thanks
Hi,
for information, I made the same request in MIUI Porting Team forum: http://en.miui.com/thread-3355142-1-1.html
I hope someone will be able to finish the kitchen.
PS: Even if CosmicDan give up, I would like to thank him for the time he spent trying to port MIUI to treble phones.
I have a feeling this will have the same outcome as the other thread. Why are people so desperate for MIUI anyway? If you want it, go buy a Xiaomi phone, they're relatively inexpensive for smart phones nowadays.

It is not illegal if you're not selling it, besides; xiaomi will appreciate you using its cloud and cloud based features as they can offer you services that requires money and make profit out of you, as you may know; xiaomi does not makes profit out of hardware but of its miui software and its bloatwares, so i think its a win win situation.
The spirit of using GSI roms is to be able to try anything.
To say if you like Samsung OS, LG OS, or Miui OS go buy it. Does nothing but prove that you are arrogant and clueless.

Abroad different forums OP fans seem to be triggered when talking about MIUI, or request it for an OP device.
Be helpful or don't reply at all if you're gonna be a **** about it.
I absolutely love MIUI, however due to the device not being sold in the Netherlands, I chose for an OP6 (Warranty, local support etc), on which I hope some day I can flash MIUI10 on.

I barely remember making this comment. But, I was a little rude, no doubt. I remember that someone made a very rude ( that commenter was dickish)
Their comment about how people should buy Miui, instead of simply asking about gaining access to a ported Miui Rom.
Why say something like this, on a custom Rom website, and in the GSI rom section!
I cant find that comment now....deleted? Regardless, the spirit of using custom Roms and and especially GSI roms is to be able to have access to a wide variety of Roms, and its nice to have something different instead of the usual CAF and AOSP roms.
Yes, its nice to have greater access, and to be able to try different things. Thanks to being able to try a ported miui rom, my next phone will absolutely be a Xiaomi. You cannot currently buy Xiaomi in the US, and thanks to our political "geniuses" Chinese phone prices are sure to skyrocket, making Xiaomi plans to expand into the US market, even less certain.
Regardless, my next phone will very likely be a Mi Mix 2s, largely because I was able to try the Miui software via a ported custom rom. Although I cannot find the phones locally they are certainly easily found online.
Wouldn't it be nice to be able to find GSI roms, that allow us to try a greater variety customised android OS's by One Plus, LG, Samsung, Huawei? I think so.

That is very sad. Miui is a great UI.
For such a brand new mid-range phone with great specs and a very competitive pricing, I thought this thread eould be popping with Devs trying to get an early access and commencing the development process.....In start contrast, the entire section for the phone seems dead and barren....
Is it because of the flash sale process of selling the device?
Ori s it the unappealing locked bootloader? Android pie is notorious for being dev unfriendly.
Or that the phone is being sold just in one or two countries?
Maybe time to move on elsewhere?
Replies, comments and criticism are welcome.
I am thinking the same. I have already booked mine so i guess i will stick with it. I will wait around month and then rethink. At least root is a must for me.
Isn't the bootloader unlocked from factory? It feels so weird because the redmi note 7 pro is also available via flash sales but the dev community is so active. I bought this phone seeing it's popularity thinking it would be popular among devs too.
Is there any scope for custom ROM development for this device. ??
Doesn't seem like it....Phone hasn't interested the Devs, or has attracted the wrong kind of crowd....oem forum full of ppl with pitiful, pathetic language skills (English / vernacular) cribbing about really simple issues like ram usage, background running of apps like camera (battery draining due to face unlock being on) and night light cutting in automatically (yellow screen tinge at night). Wait till more experienced guys start owning the device, or else give up on the phone and move on....

I'm sorry to read that. I overall experience of mine with this device is awesome. Yes, there are problems with the UI which does not provide a single means/section fot customizations. This device has good hardware and I am sure there will be good custom ROMs will be available for this Phone.
Remember :- great specs means great develpoment. It may be late, it will begin, it has to begin. This devcie will rise and will make its competitors feel ashamed of them.:victory:

I don't think that Realme is targetting developers/communities, the unconventional bootloader unlocking method is a huge turn off for many developers.
Also, TBH the realme community forums are a mess.
A developer seeding program will help them immensely to gain a good & active community.
Regards,
acervenky
Give it some time.
There is no development of custom roms for this phone so far, because the bootloader unlock mechanism is not live for the public yet. Yes, the company had given false claims off bootloader unlock out of the box. Also kernel sources will also take a few months to come.
A few developers have unlocked the bootloader by contacting realme in china and manually clearing their devices for approval.
Attempts to root the phone have failed so far because of some weird crypto-stuff which prevents the patched_magisk.img from booting. People are still trying to figure this out.
A developer is also trying to port TWRP from source as well, not booting as of now.
Once kernel sources are out, these processes will be accelerated. Join the telegram group from the LOS post to keep in touch.
Edit: Meanwhile, it seems that realme is clearing their stocks and soon moving on to realme X.

I'm thinking, why am I even wasting my time by giving you a reply, Still Armani either you are too naive to understand things or you're a hypocrite who's in denial mode.
I said we have been waiting for development for our phone, where's the point of lying in this ?
And read your reply above you yourself proving me right.
I don't want to waste my time anymore in these silly arguments with you, Bye :good:
Tatti Sheth
Only person responsible for this is Madhav Sheth, CEO of realme. Its all because they don't support developers. He can give 100s of device to technical guruji for giveaway but can't give some device to the developers??? Many people raised this issue but they jst don't care.

Hello guys. I just come from an iphone, before Pxel 2 xl and can`t stand ios for obvious reasons why people love Oneplus phones! Will we get the same love as OnePlus 7 Pro in terms of custom roms and development? Does some experienced devs work custom roms for our device?

Most of the 7 pro kernels are working out of the box for our 7t pro/ mclaren. So its only a matter of time the roms are coming. Only problem till now is twrp due the dynamic partitions. But this likely will work in a few weeks
Shouldn't be too long...

Never used OMNI rom before this but I must say it`s awesome, ticks all stuff I like in custom rom. It`s very stable, none issues so far. Only thing that happened twice was the oneplus camera crash when I enter portrait mode but after clearing app from background all works ok. This rom has all the goodies from the stock rom plus much more customisation. Feel free to try it

Hi I'm coming from the Samsung Note 8 and I'm familiar with rooting but for some reason, I'm having trouble installing Omirom on my OnePlus 7T Pro. Unfortunately the thread is not for noobies. I've read and followed the instructions My phone is unlocked I have root with Magisk, the stock room with adb enabled recovery. When I input command fastboot -w it erases everything but I get an error in regards to partitions also a failed remote error I'm able to flash the boot image but all other parts of the Omirom I just get error messages regarding it can't find at the address. I unzipped the file and extracted to my adb fastboot folder on my PC. I've tried numerous times and well for now just put it to rest cause as you know setting up your phone from scratch a few times gets frustrating. I was wondering if I can get some help on this thread cause on the original Omirom thread, well you have to be an expert. Any help would be appreciated if not I'm just gonna have to wait for TWRP. Thanks.

Where is the love?!?
I'm very much a user - and very grateful for all the XDA dev support & hard work.
Was looking forward to OOS-based custom ROMs for the OP7TP - is this likely to happen anytime soon and to any where near the level of TLC the OP7P received?
Is the sparsity of cus-ROMs just related to non-availability of a proper custom recovery?
Would love to have xXx No Limits/ Havoc/ Renovate ICE etc for the OP7TP.

Renovate ICE developer doesn't have 7T/Pro so he can't test. But he said he might add support if he can get testers.
(I might be wrong, he said it in telegram.
It's extremely stupid by OnePlus, to not keep the whole 7/T series on the same OOS base, since our internals are basically identical. I mean we have same kernel base.
If this were the case then renovate would probably work for our device. (I'm just ranting might be completely wrong).
For XXX; this might be something

Are there any signs that a fully working TWRP will be available anytime soon(?).
Looking at the excellent Dev/ custom support for previous OP devices, I went for the OP7T Pro hoping for the same....
With the OP 8/ 8 Pro release around the corner - is it likely that OOS custom ROM development for the OP7T Pro will be over-looked?

If there's no TWRP by the time OP8 releases it will probably have same, if not less amount of ROMs and kernels (because new processor)
If TWRP supports later, I'm pretty sure all OP7/Pro ROMs will add support for T models because they all are so similar. (Like the kernels)
I myself don't care about custom ROMs, only kernels, and there's plenty of them to support T models.

I definitely feel the pain. This is the 3rd phone in a row that I've bought where it seemed development would be great, and instead turned out to be almost non-existent. Of course, I don't blame anybody here. I just really miss having access to multiple different fun ROM's and kernels. Last phone I had with good development was the HTC One M8, good times... lol.
Hey guys,
since I don't know how well or quickly the Xiaomi community is working, I was wondering when you think we will see the first custom ROMs and Kernels.
Especially an OC Kernel, I could imagine, would improve the experience on this phone alot.
Thanks!
It will take long time cause of accessibility problems. Very long.
Probably never.
Ah surely
Without jokes, there Will be custom developement in mid future?
No. Not before mid 2020
I think currently it's overpriced for sd730g, may be worth for that camera!
If they price it lower than k20 pro ... Hit!

Okay I can confirm that there won't be any custom rom anytime soon.
Anyway, stock one is very good already!

Stock isn't bad, but a custom would still be better. Plus a custom kernel. That shouldn't be too hard since we have kernel sources released?

Interesting really this info is. The heck why, wouldn't there be a custom ROM soon any?
Me and my little green big-ear fella thought it would be nice to have such a camera in such a sexy body. But without aftermarket support... We don't know... So any update on the matter?

You can install any keyboard. I love GBoard, but you can use SwiftKey or whatever you want.
Just search for "Keyboard" in Play Store. If you want something very "raw", look for keyboards in F-Droid.
I spoke with some of the developers of custom roms and no one is interested in developing for this phone.
It really seems like there won't be any custom rom/kernel anytime soon and probably, maybe, never.
We will ahvr to stick to the stock rom.
Anyone interested in starting a reward campaign here?
First fully functioning custom rom gets the cash bounty
I'm putting in $10
Is that a feature? I would defo be willing to throw in some money!

Thanks for your information sir, could i ask why they are not interested in developing for this phone? Personally i think is a pretty interesting hardware
As MoneyFist, I also would donate for a good featured custom ROM ?
I don't understand why there are people saying we will not get custom roms. I think, the main reason for now, is that we have no sources, or I least I can't find them. Once we have sources, devs will be able for, at least, compile something
Sources have been released a while ago. I think once the phone will be widely available in India, we will see devs creating stuff...hopefully.
