I just got my new phone and it is Honor 5x, I set it up normally as you do on any new phone before using it. I had not done anything else at this point but follow the directions given and the phone was behaving fine. There was a software update and I started it, but then when it went to reboot, it stayed frozen at the Honor logo screen. I have tried various things and looked everywhere. I tried going to the Emui menu and I tried the "factory reset" option and it got up to 15% before saying that it failed, forcing me to shut it down. No matter how many times I try to reboot the phone, it stays at that same logo screen. If I press the volume keys and the power button, it takes me to the download screen but does not pass 0 . I have tried to manually install the update by the use of an SD card. When I tried it after I mounted it on the card, it got to maybe 10% before saying the software update failed and forced me to shut the phone down again. When I tried recovering from the erecovery menu, after connecting to my wifi, it said it failed to get package info and again I had to shutdown the phone. I tried redownloading the update and doing it again incase it somehow downloaded wrong on my laptop but it still has done no change. The farthest I got was when I put the update on the SD card before it failed. I need a solution please help me it's been days and i havent found something yet

Well I have no idea how much experience you have with Honor phones but you do realize that their are no less than 6 varent of this phone
Are you sure your downloading the correct files for your model?
Are you using the dload/update.app method to update?
Did you unlock the bootloader?
Flash TWRP?

i mean to say this see the attachment you see the second option that is the one to click and then it will ask to connect to wifi and then it will start downloading (aprox 10mins) and then install the latest firmware and recovery (be warned this will wipe your device and upgrade to latest version and you will lose root and twrp:good

@Lasisi list your phone model and the file your trying to use (a link)
Also list what software version you were on and what the update is listed as
are you putting the file update.app in a folder called dload on the ext_sdcard and rebooting to erecovery by shutting off the phone and then holding volume up and down and power all at the same time ?

I know your just trying to help, but those files are Very Old .. most likely his phone is already on android 6
you also don't know if he has C185 or C432
I think a "fastboot getvar all" from the bootloader should tell if he's on C185 or C432
then you need to download one of the 2 files above and use Huawei update extractor to pull the files from the Full update package for Android 6
and use those to try and recover the phone.

I installed EMUI 9 on my p20 lite and didn't like it, so I tried one of the openkirin 9.0 beta roms. There was some features that didn't work so I decided I wanted to go back. I followed the guide on openkirin's website about going back to stock by flashing system.img, ramdisk.img, kernel.img and recovery_ramdisk.img however trying to flash ramdisk.img gives "partition length get error". Now, the phone only is able to boot into fastboot and eRecovery mode. In eRecovery the options to backup and to factory reset are grayed out however, and the "update to latest version" doesn't work. When I plug the charger in from being turned off it shows the white error screen with error 10 (boot image) and error 2 (load failed). I have a suspicion that flashing kernel.img is what causing the problem, but I don't really know enough to be sure and I don't want to do anything to make it worse since it seems like this should be fixable.
This is the only phone I have which properly worked so any help is greatly appreciated.
Hi there
Don't worry, it's fixable
There's way bigger mess than that, so the best solution for you and the easiest one is to flash a signed dload package, which you can find for your model and build number in this website:
https://androidhost.ru/search.html
Search in this format "ANE-LX1C66".
Then extract it and copy the "dload" folder to the root of your sd card.
Then power off your device if it isn't and then press POWER + Volume Plus + Volume Minus at the same time until a circle with EMUI appears.
That will erase all data and lock your bootloader.
Cheers!

Tried Oreo build 150 for ane-lx1c432 and ane-lx1c782 since those are the only models my phone could be.
Although, when I do the get-build-number command in fastboot it still says I'm on a Pie build. I'm gonna try doing a Pie build and I'll get back to you.

No, those are not signed, you need the dload files from Androidhost.ru since it's the only place you can get them for free, here's a link for both the versions you showed:
Single SIM ANE-LX1C432: https://androidhost.ru/Utm

You have two options:

but the bootloader locked and so did the frp, I can't unlock: "Navigate to Developer options, and enable "OEM unlock"!", and the mobile is in bootloop always going to the TWRP, that's right it locked with TWRP installed in eRecovery, when I try to update via dload as it says in the guide, it installs 5% and then reboots to twrp.
Hello all, I've been experiencing a few problems with installing lineage os on my P20 lite.
According to some others, TWRP seemed to not like the version of EMUI 9 I was on at the time. To get around this I thought I could downgrade to a previous version of EMUI 9 however I ended up downgrading to EMUI 8 by mistake. TWRP seems to not like EMUI 8 even more and I can't even properly transfer files to the device anymore.
The eRecovery function of EMUI 8 does not work and gives the error "Getting authentication info failed" when I try to update, and I had already wiped the OS before I realised my mistake. Making it almost impossible for me to update it to a working version.
Firmware is very hard to find for this device and I'm not sure how to use the ones I have found. Does anyone have any ideas of how I could resolve this issue?
Thanks for any help you can provide.

in fastboot mode run commands:
fastboot oem get-build-number
fastboot oem get-product-model
fastboot getvar vendorcountry

Some might fail, so don't worry about it.

Using a version of TWRP I found on that post, I am now able to transfer files to the device. Sadly I cant install lineage os, probably because I'm still on EMUI 8.

Thanks a lot for pointing me in the right direction. It's all sorted now using the method you suggested.
Hi all! Recently I got Huawei p20 lite without screen. I was able to unlock the bootloader, decrypt data and even flash Lineage 16 and use it via ADB stream on my PC. But there was a problem, I can't connect to WiFi networks (even that I can see them). So after some reading I conclude that the problem is my EMUI version - ANE-LX1 9.1.0.368. So I downgrade to EMUI 8 but now I can't get adb access when OS is loaded. I have access only from recovery. On Lineage was easy. Just 3 rows to build.prop and default.prop but that's not the case for stock rom. Does anyone knows what files should be edited and how? Maybe someone with stock rom and root can share there files? I'll be very thankful if someone help.
I have success using custom kernel and editing build.prop and default.prop from recovery. Now the question is what will be easiest way to upgrade do miui 9 and still can connect to WIFI networks.

Imo there's no way to not overwrite build.prop etc. when upgrading. And among other things, some partitions are changed on EMUI 9.1.
The question was if I make upgrade via system menu does the USB debugging and data decrypt will stay but I guess no.
I'm thinking to upgrade via HURUpdater to ANE-LX1 9.1.0.278 (do this version have wifi drivers problem?) and then decrypt data and flash some GSI rom - I don't think I will have success with booting stock. The one thing that is bothering me is that all tutorial lead to do factory reset after flashing the rom via stock recovery. And in EMUI 8 was easy because I have to press Vol - and power button 3 times but on EMUI 9 I saw you have to type "YES".

Uuuhm what? What I'm doing wrong? As I said at my first post my phone has no screen and I'm trying to make it somehow usable for me . Never used Huawei device before. I think people here have more knowledge than me , that's why I'm asking. Sorry if my questions are stupid for you.

No, you got it wrong.
I'm trying to help you, but you don't have to respect my advice, it's your choice. I'm not an expert or a dev, I'm just a hobbyist, but I have a lot of experience with hi6250 devices.
So just from my experience:
1. As for HuRupdater look here
so I'm not sure that full-OTA will help you...
2.

First do advanced wipe - wipe Art/dalvik + data + system. Reboot fastboot, flash system.img (your GSI) in fastboot > fastboot reboot. That's all.

Yes, I have used exact this post from you to flash ANE-LX1 8.0.0.144(C432) on my device!
The idea now is to change 3 files you have shared with the files from ANE-LX1 9.1.0.278(C432E6R1P7) FULL OTA.zip. and then flash GSI rom.
From what I have read that's how hurupdater works... I'm not sure that it will work but I can try it.
2. Thanks.

Actually both methods didn't work.
First tried with hurupdater but got some error at the begging.
Then I extracted dload folder from a zip a put it on scard and tried to install it first via code from phone app and then with service menu (vol- vol + and power) but still ended on emui 8 just with encrypted device again... Any other methods I can try?

begins installation and at 5% stops: software installation failed? You got an basic error message "software installation failed", or a specific error? ("Incompatible with current version", "Failed to check update package", Update package doesn't exist" etc.).
Make sure to have the stock Recovery flash
Yesterday I made more than 20 tries without success.
dload method don't work for me and I don't know what the error is there.
I have tried to extract firmware with Huawei update extractor and manually flash all the partition in fastboot. Most of them did flashed OK but some not because of wrong partition name or partition table I think.
I have success of flashing LineageOS 16 and phone boot normally but didn't detect internal storage.
I think I mixed .img files ....
Best answer for me is to use huru updater, but cant find working OTA for EMUI 9 ...

The safe upgrade to emui 9 can be done as follows:
- via OTA update (via system application)
- using HiSuite
- by the dload method
- paid services
No HwOTA, HuRupdater, fastboot, Huawei Multi-tool (RUFI) etc.
