Redmi 5 Plus | Glitches during boot and failure to start - Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 / 5 Plus Questions & Answers

So this is happening for a while now, first on MIUI 10 and then 11. Never flashed with another ROM, only factory reset the device a few times to no avail.
While sometimes it boots up, it rarely stays on for more than a few hours.
Moreover, I noticed that when I press down on the middle of the screen with one finger, screen starts to show some damn impressive glitch art and then it shuts down.
Not sure how this can be troubleshooted, should I consider it a hardware issue?

G-Tablet Quit working after 6 months. Need advice

My G-Tablet was working great for the last 6 months, the day I bought it, I flashed it with Cyanogenmod 7. Last night I was listening to Pandora, while reading Manga. I set it down and went to sleep.
When I awoke the Tablet was off, still plugged into the AC adapter. And refused to boot. After trying to get into the recovery thinking somehow it bricked itself, I noticed the screen would flicker ever so dimly. So I ripped the back off and unplugged the power thinking maybe it's not really off, maybe it's locked.
Alright, so now after holding the power button down for about 30 seconds it starts booting, I see three birds, the words android, the Cyanogenmod logo and then it goes black. After about a minute of that, I assume it booted. Still starting at a completely black screen I pressed the volume button + and - and I hear the beep boop. Alright so it booted. Where is my VIDEO?
I hold down the power button for a minute, I press the volume buttons but no sound. Ok, it's off I'm guessing. Lets boot again. This time nothing, completely blank screen, until it gets to the Cyanogenmod Logo. The video comes on for about 3 seconds then off again. About 15 seconds later, it comes on and I see the android robot riding the skateboard for about 3 seconds, then black again. It again finishes booting, I play with the volume buttons and I get the beeps. But absolutely no video.
One other thing, is that while booting. It ALWAYS turns on the video for the little robot on the skateboard for 2-3 seconds.
Has anyone experienced anything like this before? I'm totally at a loss, I really hope the GPU is fine.
I miss my tablet
If it turns out to be a hardware problem you should have a year long warranty from viewsonic. Someone who has had experience with the warranty process will have to tell you whether or not they will deny your claim if it arrives with CM7 installed (I haven't dealt with them). If you are able to NV flash before sending the tablet back in you should be golden though.
Thanks for the advice Bret.
I had the tablet sitting on my desk, I booted it up, still a black screen but I could hear the volume beeps. I let it sit there for about an hour, running on battery. And wouldn't you know. The screen came on. It's been working perfectly so far, I can reboot, shutdown, let it sleep ect. Not a single problem. I would absolutely love to know if it was a software glitch, or what. Seems my GPU is fine, rocks 3d apps no problem.
But I know if I don't know what caused this, more then likely it'll happen again and I'll flip out.
Open your gTab up and reseat the cables going into the LCD panel.
You say you have been running CM7 for ~6 months? have you had to reflash you system at all in that time?
The reason I ask is that I have had issues of the system corrupting itself over time, and almost every time I had reflashed, everything seemed to go back to being fine. Who knows... maybe its time to do a backup and flush the system for good measure..

[Q] Random reboot and bootloop issue

Hi guys
Having some issues with my S3, bought in November 2012 and worked perfectly fine until a few months ago when it started turning off and rebooting, it would get to the initial 'Samsung Galaxy SIII' logo and loop on that until the battery is pulled. It'd work fine for a few moments after it booted to the lockscreen and then do it again.
I got it working again after I left the battery out for several hours, afterwards its been working fine apart from the occasional turning off, looping on the inital boot logo. Fixes itself first try so I've been happy to live with it if it only does it occasionally.
So about 20 minutes ago it turned off and looped. No worries, pulled battery out for a few minutes, put it back in and turned it off. Usually it would work absolutely fine after this, but instead it kept looping. Got a bit concerned, so pulled battery out for a few minutes, put it back in and it worked. Then it did it again, so battery pulled out for a few minutes, put back in and it works fine. I've had it charging since it started working and it seems to be going fine now (could be just a weird superstition of mine, charging it seems to keep it alive?).
I can usually tell when I'm using it if its about to reboot, if I go to lock the screen using the power button, it acts as if I long pressed the button (power options appears). So I use the back key to get out of it and try locking it again. Does the same thing and then it reboots within a few seconds. Could be power button getting stuck?
Adding music/data to the device does seem to flare this issue up for a little bit, but those could be completely unrelated
Factory reset fixes it for a little but that isn't possible all the time of course.
Any suggestions on how to fix or prevent this issue? Is it the sudden death syndrome flaring up? I'm on 4.1.2 XXEMG4, the latest for the region of the phone, so the sudden death fix is incorporated.
Thanks heaps
EDIT: Found the solution to the problem today. Seems that the issue is the power button sticking. I verified on my mothers s3 that holding the power button down does reboot the phone, by skipping the whole shutdown sequence and going straight to the bootup. It seems that because the power button is sticking, the boot sequence isn't able to complete so it will reboot endlessly.
Try pulling the battery out, and firmly (but not so firm it will break) and repeatedly press the power button around 10-15 times. The video I saw suggested smacking the side of the phone against a hard surface but that may be a little extreme. Anytime the power menu comes up when you go to lock the screen, quickly press the power button heaps of times until it locks and you will avoid a reboot
Sounds similar to the lead up I had to SDS. The Sudden Death fix can also cause freezes and reboots. Or teh NAND memory could be dying but from something other than SDS

These issues only began appearing a while after the updates including the SDS fix came out (which I know doesn't completely rule out SDS). Absolutely 0 issues when I was on 4.0.x, aside from Android itself crashing on a couple of occasions.
I still have until the end of october to lodge a warranty claim if need be, so I'll see how it goes

Help with lg Optimus F3 MS659

So I just got this phone as a backup for when I go out to work on construction that if my phone were to break it would be this $40 Optimus F3 and not my $640 LG G3. Now here is the issue and I will explain what I have done.
Issue: When I turn screen off (Hit the power button once or when it auto sleeps) the phone just locks up and freezes. It happens when the screen is off for 10 seconds or longer. Before that I can reactivate the phone and it works fine.
Other Symptoms:
-If I allow the phone to stay frozen after about 2 minutes it reboots itself.
What I have done
-Factory Reset several times
-Restored the stock firmware kdz via the lg firmware updater
-Rooted to install a cpu app which does't allow the phone into a lower frequency. I have tried setting minimum frequency to every single option available and it still freezes at the 10+ second mark.
-Tried another battery from a friends F3.
Test I have made:
Disable screen timeout. This allowed the phone to stay on and responsive for as long as the screen was on. No matter how long I let it go as soon as the screen turns off the issues starts and 10 seconds later it just locks up then restarts after another 2 minutes.
Times tested: 10 minutes, 40 minutes, 1 hour, 4 hours and 8 hours. Same result each time.
I have no idea what else I can do. I would appreciate any help. I am starting to think it is a hardware failure which kicks in when the screen is off. I don't mind having the screen on all the time but I would love to track down this issue. If I must and this being an lcd display would having a special background do anything at all? Is there a color which is a lower power consumption than any other? Thanks

LS9980 - CyanogenMod 12.1-20151114-NIGHTLY-ls990 - Long boot times, screen divided

Okay so I am running CyanogenMod 12.1-20151114-NIGHTLY-ls9980 on my lg g3 ls9980 and it seems it takes a very long time to boot up if my phone dies, etc. Then, when my phone finally turns on, it goes to optimizing apps, all 171 of my apps have to get optimized each time... Sometimes this isn't the case but most of the times it is... Then to add to this, when booting my phone on, the pixels are perfectly slashed straight down the middle, one side of the screen being higher than the other ( i believe it's left over right)... this is on everything, including the CyanogenMod boot logo, but not the LG logo that I get before the CyanogenMod logo shows. In order to get this screen slashing to go away, I have to lock and unlock my phone about 3-4 times...
How do I fix all of this?

BLU Pure XL stuck at Optimizing Apps, need to retrieve files

My Pure XL began acting very strange after I dropped it- I've given up on the phone really at this point. I need to retrieve my files from it, but I come to some issues. The phone doesn't even turn on 90% of the time. For some reason, if I wait a while and then try, it does start up, and either a) gets stuck at the Blu screen, or if it makes it past this which happens more often than not, b) it goes to Optimizing App X of X. Usually it gets to about 10 or 12 of 185 or 195, then freezes. It's completely unresponsive and the only way to turn it off is by disconnecting the battery. I tried waiting at this frozen state for about an hour and it did not unfreeze. I've been trying to get it to boot for 2 days now, and earlier today it jumped through all the way to about 100 of 185 but then froze. I've tried turning it on in recovery mode, but since I don't know if it will turn on most of the time I forget to turn it on in recovery mode when it does manage to turn on. I feel like not all hope is lost because the phone seems to be functioning for the most part, but I just can't seem to get past the Optimizing app. Currently the phone is not rooted but it has been rooted before.
Also, today I've noticed sometimes the optimizing app nearly finishes, but it is very choppy and laggy. I got to 187 of 194 and 182 of 187, but it then freezes like it would normally. Factory resets or similar are out of the question since I don't care about the phone itself rather the contents.
Now I'm having trouble getting it to turn on at all :/
so I no longer have any consistant method to have it turn on... I thought I'd get through because optimizing apps went smoothly almost to completion but froze..
I was able to start up in recovery mode and wipe the cache partition, but upon rebooting I am stuck on the Blu screen...
Is this forum dead or something?
Haven't been able to even get it to power on regularly.. maybe twice today and both stayed at Blu screen.............
Another power on, also stayed at Blu screen... can't find a consistant way to get it to turn on :/
This forum sure is dead
