So, a couple of days ago my Mi 8's display cracked and looks like I'l get the Mi 10 ASAP myself.
Unfortunately it's not out yet, so I'm stuck with a RN4 a friend lend to me.
Anyone else getting the Mi 10/Pro?
What's your thoughts?

I think 10 pro will be best.
I got the Mi 10 Pro. Upgraded from my Mi Mix 2S (also Pixel 3 XL). It's a fantastic device, easily the best phone I've ever used. It's quite heavy though but you will not be disappointed with this. Both the camera and battery life thus far have been phenomenal.

Good to know man.
Where did you get it from and how much did it cost if that's not a lot to ask?
Unfortunately, I can't seem to find a reliable source to buy it from and it's definitely not available in my country yet.

Well yeah, but the specs aren't all that different IMO.
It'll all come down to the price I think.

I purchased from tradingshenzhen.com. At the time it was ~810USD but now it looks like the price has increased to 844USD. I got my phone 10 days after purchase. It took 7 days to actually ship but only 3 to reach me from China (used the DHL express ship method). I live in the United States

To your point, I think I would have been fine with the regular Mi 10 as well, it all just comes down to camera in my opinion between the two. I plan to keep this phone for many years to come so I went with the Pro to ensure my camera can keep up with future generations of phones. But in terms of actual day to day usage, I agree the regular model is probably the more logical choice

all reviewers in YouTube have told this. Besides, camera is better in pro model. If you compare 8/256 variant of Mi 10 with 10 pro, the price difference isn't that much I think.

It looks like the special edition version supports the new Google Daydream VR. Articles I've read said the phone is certified to support it. I guess it has vulkan and open CL 3.2. For $79 I'll check it out.

I would bet that the SD820 version supports it to. I say this as they are essentially the same chip. They have the same architecture and the same GPU, the only difference is the SD821 is just overclocked. And since the pixel XL has the SD821 but then downclocked it to SD820 speeds, I really don't see how there is a difference between the two. They shouldnt be able to say the Pixel has the SDp821 when they reversed everything that makes it the SD821, but that is the problem of the Pixel owners who just blindly purchased like iPhone users do.
The only thing we have to wait for is the nougat update.
I have the special edition btw.

The article below says it should work. Do you think I can't download the app is because we're not on Android 7.0 Nougat?
http://www.ibtimes.com/google-finally-reveals-hardware-software-requirements-daydream-vr-2444393
The requirements might also irk a lot of users who’ve already bought a flagship smartphone for 2016. The Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge for example are not Daydream-ready despite having Vulkan support, as pointed out by Android Authority. Right now, the only phones that are truly Daydream VR capable are Google’s own Pixel and Pixel XL phones and the Asus Zenfone 3 Deluxe.

Oh by the way, when I was in the Verizon store checking out the Daydream VR, the sales rep was showing me his LG V20. We were comparing phones because he heard of the Zenfone 3 deluxe. I also had my Moto G4 with me and we put all 3 phones down on the table and by a huge margine the zenfone 3 deluxe had a better display. I guess it's the whole AMOLED vs IPS thing. Also, the V20 is known to have a more blueish screen. All 3 phones on their own have nice screens, but putting them side by side the comparison was laughable. The rep in the store was laughing and said OMG my phone looks like ****. For those of you still out there wondering what to do, hopefully this post helps you out.

Oh okay, that makes sense. I would definitely return the headset. Especially since Asus' headset looks extremely high quality. And isn't the headset just for the phone to sit in and the remote is what connects to the phone or does that Google Daydream headset have sensors in it? How comfortable is it? The thing that worries me about it is that it looks like the phone isn't fully secure in it. How secure does that hold the phone? Can the phone jostle with a quick head movement?
And I think it won't be compatible until we get the full 7.1 update, but after that, I don't see why it wouldn't be compatible.

That is awesome to hear about the screen. AMOLED destroys IPS. It is crazy to need a QHD screen on phones, though I expect that would've been nice for our phone when Daydream does come available. Oh well, 960x1080 per eye should look just fine. No matter how close I look at this phone, I can't see any pixelation on edges of objects. Perhaps I should buy a magnifying glass and then try and see one, I expect that will show whether there will be a perceived VR difference.

It appeared secure and looked nice. It felt very light. If you've put on the Playstation VR you'll know what I mean. I didn't actually strap it on, I just held it up to my face for a few minutes, but it seemed like it would be comfortable. The experience seemed good enough for just $79.
I wonder why they said the SD820 couldn't support VR. Besides the slightly lower clock speed, everything else on both processors are the same right? Same cores, just slower? Anyways, even if Qualcomm does say the 820 won't work with Daydream, I would still go out on a limb and say it will work just fine. This is with the evidence of the Pixel and Pixel XL both being underclocked to which makes it prettyuch the same as a SD820 as seen on the benchmarks.
If we have the SD821, how come we need to have Android 7.0 for Google Daydream to work?

Android 6.0 MM does not have the new Vulcan API that was released with Android 7.0 (Nougat). You could probably get Daydream VR and use it as an Overpriced, but good looking, Google Cardboard and wait until we get 7.0 on the Deluxe SE. But that would be taking a chance on them putting 7.0 on our phone, even if their is a hint of it coming to the phone (links above).

That's what I thought until I came across an article that says the Nvidia shield with 6.0 has vulkan API. So maybe it's not just the Android 7.0 from preventing this phone from working with Daydream.

Any device that is running a Nvidia SoC has the Vulkan API built into them because of the resources needed for the built in GPU if I remember correctly due to having a Shield Portable with 5.0 and it having Vulkan API in it.

I haven't tried with the 20 X though I do think the screen resolution might be a bit too low for a good experience. I had the note7 with the gear vr previously and after a few minutes use the pixcles were very obvious and that was a2k screen.
If you want to give it a try a Google cardboard would work there are sets for sale on Amazon that support phones of 7 inches.
I didn't find a nice moulded headset that would support the 20x though if I do find any I will update you

Hi..
I am not that active on this forum, but I read alot here, and thought I would answer you.
The mate 20 pro is by far the best phone I have had, and by far the phone I wish I didn't have.
The stats, the quality, everything seems so great...
But then there is the problems, had to exchange it 5 times because of the gluegate issue with the screen. Finally got one with the boe screen, so that works.
Emui sucks big time and ram management is the worst I have evey seen. Notification sometimes don't come in, and if they do, you won't be able to see them because of the notch, there is no room for notifications..
I could go on. Simple answer: No, wait for better updates or maybe custom rom...
Or another phone...
I have the Mate 20 Pro and it is a powerhouse. I absolutely love it and my previous phone was a Pixel 2 XL.
If you can wait for the Sony XZ4 to come out I would jump on that
My advice...avoid the mate 20. It has all the "candy" but its not working as it should. Face unlock and fingerprint reader can be a hit and miss. Software needs a lot of tweaking. I have a Mate 10 and Mate 20 and quite frankly apart from the camera the Mate 10 hold it own, never missed a beat and now its also running on Pie. I am sure a lot on this forum will comment and disagree but keep the 800€+ in your pocket and look for another "cheaper" brand. The Mate 20 is not worth the hype. Just my 2 cents....

Ram management is fine. If you know how to use a phone. You just change the app battery settings for the problem apps and BANG no problem.

You are clearly paid by Huawei to defend their product...you are the ONLY one claiming it works 100% of the time. Its like watching these supported video's on you tube, they all have the same verdict - the best phone ever build and all works without a hitch. Get into real life and you will see its not all perfect. Anyway, I have contributed and it's up to the topic starter to make up his mind.

Well calling it a "paper weight" wasn't a great response. I had two LG screens before this one and they were bad. I now have a Boe screen and screen is perfect. Face unlock works 99percent of the time for ME. If you look at my history you will see this is the 2nd Huawei phone I've owned. So I'm not paid by them either lol. You do have to tweak it to your liking, but once you have its great to use. If i thought it was crap I'd go back to my Note 9 or onto another phone.
Things for me personally that could definitely be improved are the Always on Display, better battery management for apps (its a bit too aggressive) easy to fix but it's not obvious on how to for everyone. Audio is not as good as say LG or HTC but neither are Samsung currently.
Got to say I'm loving the phone more now ive fitted a uv glue glass screen protector, it now looks better and is smoother than when using a tpu one. Fingerprint scanner seems to work better too now.
Overall in my opinion its a great phone.

But the screen issues is a new one, emui I got used to long back so no worries there.. guess I'll wait a lil longer tho it might not be the phone to jump to at this moment.. yes I'd love the SD and having my music library/ photo gallery with me 24/7 but let's see what the upcoming phones offer..
Thank you everyone

Got to say I'm loving the phone more now ive fitted a uv glue glass screen protector, it now looks better and is smoother than when using a tpu one. Fingerprint scanner seems to work better too now.

Well, if you are happy that's the most important thing, I have ordered a UV glue glass protector, hope it brings some improvement.

Hopefully yeh.. Still wouldnt say its 100% but its better. I ordered the Alinsea one from Amazon UK. Followed instructions and was soo easy to fit. Kinda proud of myself as it was my first glass protector with uv glue, thought it would be a shambles lol. Anyway goodluck [emoji846]

Imagine having less than 400 ppi on a €1000 phone in 2019.
Yup, it's terrible. I've had an S7 edge for 3 years before this, and a Nexus 5 before that. I can say I never felt the discomfort that I'm feeling now with this phone in terms of actually seeing pixels in text, images and most of all videos while using my phone.
Since I upgrade my phones every so rarely, I decided I can't really look at a screen this bad for the next 3 years without losing my mind.
Probably will switch to a Mate20 pro at this point.
And yeah, that's that...
Why 398ppi?
I have quite a few complaints about this device after 24 hours but the screen is one of the better aspects to me. Resolution isn't everything.
Things I don't like:
No notification LED bothers me more than I thought it would - possibly because I'm not used to having Huaweis without them
Single speaker setup is a shame
Camera is massively overrated as an auto shooter (again). Can't help but feel that many of the reviewers/influencers on the free Paris trip have let buyers down.
If I turn off the fingerprint for unlocking (eg so as not to light up my room at night) there's a bug where the screen keeps lighting up to unlock every few seconds when charging, even when it's on the bedside away from any humans
EMUI is still not very attractive to me.
The Kirin 980 doesn't seem as powerful as we are led to believe. The Mate 20 Pro I had before this seemed to fall down in browser rendering VS even the Snapdragon 835 for example. Still just as jerky on the P30 Pro.
It's a nice device other than that, and I've no idea why the display resolution would bother anyone.

How come you're sticking with Huawei? Is the Mate 20 Pro that good? I also switch phones very rarely, and don't want to be stuck with a crappy one.

As I said, PPI is a big no no for me. For the rest it does what it has to do ok for me. Battery life is amazing, the cpu is fast/snappy, cameras are awesome for photos (Videos not so much, but I don't care about videos tbh) and the Mate 20 Pro has way better PPI but pretty much same specs and very similar camera.
Plus is the 3d face recognition on it, which is another plus.
Also dual speakers, forgot that, and overall, a more well rounded device than I was expecting the P30 Pro to be

Heh, I'm struggling... I can get both of them much cheaper than S10+. Not sure which way to go, photo and video is my primary concern.

Then Mate 20 Pro should be a no brainer. There's nothing that the p30 pro does better, besides selfies and 5x zoom. Are those 2 things a priority for you?
If not, then u have ur answer

And night shots? And smaller notch? And better fingerprint reader? Those are what led me to the P30 Pro. But hey, each has his own priorities, and I'm not knocking others.

Actual discomfort? Are you sitting with your phone 2 inches from your eyes? In that case, I can understand your discomfort.
I checked the p30 pro and Mate 20 pro side by side at the store. The p30 pro display is clearly the brighter one. Despite checking out closely I couldnt find pixelation on the p30 pro. Currently using a mate 10 with 2k display. For sure the p30 pro display is much better than the mate 20 standard version and p20 pro which have 1080p display as well.
And the p30 pro speaker is louder than the mate 20 pro as seen on reviews online.
I love my P30 Pro as well, but I'm also seriously considering returning it for one reason: missing bands. It really sucks that the phone doesn't carry the newer LTE bands for AT&T/TMobile. I've tested and speeds are abysmal compared to my S8+ on the same network in the same area.
Can I live with it? Probably. Do I want to for 2 years? Hmm.

Dual-sim from Germany. Supposed to be missing only 2 out of 6 Tmobile bands, but so far making a huge difference in NYC.
Is it model VOG-L04?
---------- Post added at 12:27 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:22 AM ----------
I think you have L29 version which is missing band 66 , the L04 version has.

I can't in good conscience buy something with that big of a notch. It's as bad as having low ppi.

Yes, VOG-L04 does exist just not called out by model on Huawei Canada site. Clearly shows support for Band 66 :good:
This model is for Canada, Mexico & US (if US wasn't trying to protect Apple by not selling allowing Huawei to sell their phones here..)
I haven't had any connectivity issues where I live since they haven't even started Band 66 tmobile deployment at all in Indiana except up by Gary, IN & Bloomington. I may try to see if I can get one just to switch but that's doubtful unless I can find a non-carrier store to buy from.

They were just made available yesterday. ALL phones in Canada are unlocked, you'll probably need to cross the border to get one, through a Craigslist or something. May start showing up on Ebay soon though.

Band 66 would definitely help in my area, does this mean there's a possibility of wifi calling on TMO or ATT? Guessing not, but would like to find out. Although from the sound of it my only option is waiting for one to show up on ebay.

I'm planning to buy V30+(LG-H930DS) from Amazon India as a secondary device, mainly for music, wide angle camera and for the compactness.
How would you rate the dimensions and weight, is it recommended? also i see no mention of this particular model in any ROMs so far, does the ROMs labeled for H930 work on this?

To each his own. I bought a second LG V30 due to the DAC which I assume is not available in any other phone. For music this is one of the best phones out there. If you're into rooting there are a few modules and a custom ROM (Boombox ROM) that improves the sound profiles.
I don't take pictures much so not able to comment on the wide angle camera.
For a secondary phone you cannot go wrong with this one.
Reg Dimensions: it is quite wide and tall and single hand operations require juggling the phone. But quite slim in thickness and feels premium.
