they dont sell the snapdragon version in india and importing one adds a lot of cost over an already expensive price.also, the imported one comes iwthout warranty.
how does this solve my problem?
Did I miss something?
Snapdragon or Exynos specific?
Done, they should either stop producing the same phone with inferior specs or improve their Exynos chipsets. Either way, they should know that we're fed up with this.
Plus this as well other things Samsung does that really enjoy me

Share here ur colour choices. Nd also share the price in which u buy this device after the launch.
If they price it over 40k, they are going to lose some more sales numbers. I am still deciding between this and Z3C..
Samsung Galaxy Alpha launched in India for Rs. 39990 - LINK
phone is good and performs better, but i dont think, it will success in india, neither even sell good, especially in this price tag... i think waiting for price fall would be great for those want this phone..

They officially dint announce it yet, but Samsung stores in Delhi do have the Alpha for sale already and also it's available on Samsung's e-store for 39.7k
On e-stores, the price is always on the higher sode... its strange that none of samsung's store in chandigarh has it on sale.
Finally it is available in stores. Got it last night for 36k. So far finding it far better comfortable than polpular 5 inches screen size segment. Rest everything is same. Nothing new.. as i am coming from galaxy s5
For anyone wondering the model I found was SM-G850Y. It was the same in the 3 shops I visited here in Delhi. I was hoping I could find the SM-G850F.
A bit shady as you won't find this detail on Samsung's US website but I've confirmed it with their customer support. Model SM-G965UZPAXAA

I don't believe dual SIM models have ever been directly sold to the us market. Not sure why this is shady or surprises you.

Exactly what I was thinking lol. 99.9% of the US has no idea dual SIM phones are even a thing, and 99.99% have no use for them.* Hardly shady for them to not advertise something that is totally irrelevant here. Hell, I would have been MORE surprised had it actually been dual SIM capable. Are there any CDMA capable phones sold in the US which have dual SIM capabilities? AFAIK the only dual SIM capable phones sold here are things like the OnePlus phones which are one model sold worldwide.
*Obviously they have value to some people, I'm not trying to totally diminish them!

I feel the same way. If the device wasnt region specific to the US I'd say it would have a fighting chance. Especially if it were India/Asia. I'm not aware of a native CDMA USA device with Dual SIM.

Here's why it's shady. Before you pre-order, Samsung's website only provides general features about the device. After you pay, only then can you download or view a Users Manual on Samsung's website. There are many variants with Galaxy devices and you should have the right to know what the features and capabilities are BEFORE you pay for the device.
No, unlocked as in SIM unlocked.

Not sure why you think this is shady. Typically, unless it specifically states Dual SIM, you should always assume it's a single one. The dual ones are not very common in the USA at all so why would the unlocked version be dual?
I could have sworn when I first looked at the specs on the Samsung site before I did a pre-order it listed the device as being Dual SIM. Maybe they just had a generic spec list that included specs for International variants, but I was under the impression that it would be Dual SIM. That might be why the person above thought it would be as well.
heh... not sure why you feel it's shady. Dual sim phones are 90% all the time international models. US models are single sim, unless otherwise specified.
Hey guys,
I'm thinking about buying a S9+ however, I'm not sure if I should get the Snapdragon version or the Exynos version. I live in Europe so the Exynos version is the one leading the market here.
I just want to know which version has the most popularity regarding ROMs, customizations and dev support If it's the snapdragon one, I'll bust my ass off to get that one
Thanks for you answers !

Are you new to samsung? because the answer to your question is well known.
All the US and CAN snaps are bootloader locked rendering them 100% useless for development. Stay away!
The latin america and HK snaps are not locked but never see much development historically.
The exynos, as always is the one you want for roms etc and your lucky as its local for you.
I live in Canada and have to import exynos samsungs everytime i buy or buy from a company who does the same.

The 96X0 Latin America/HK devices are seeing a lot more development this time around thanks to treble. There are already numerous standard GSI roms that work fairly well and bugs are bring fixed every day. There still is more with we exy though but if you need cdma or something the unlocked snaps aren't the wasteland they usually are
Hello i have owned my galaxy S9+ (SM-G965U1) for about a year now. Problem is that One UI has completely ruined my life and my entire experience with my phone. Back when it ran Oreo it was near perfect.
So i need help figuring out what the best S9+ with a unlocked bootloader is and where i might be able to buy them new that is.
My plan is to buy one with a unlocked bootloader so i will never have to deal with the piece of human excrement that is One UI
Thank you, this was the funniest post in forever. It has ruined your life. Omg, thank you!

Yes believe it or not it has truly made my life miserable. I don't understand why companies try to fix stuff that isn't broken.
To answer your question the snapdragon SM-G9650 varient Is OEM unlockable it is China, Brazil etc basically international version and any of the Exynos
Are I believe.
Exynos is good for development only as long as the official android is upgraded. But it's closed source with sammy proprietary blobs.
I've got a Note4 Exynos and officially it was upgraded to MM. Only because of months and years of miraculous work of a couple of developers, it's working (with a few hiccups) with TW nougat and up to oreo Lineage.
If you want to change the phone and got the cash after 2 years (or 3? ) of major upgrades from Samsung, then Exynos is OK.
As for me the OP7 (pro maybe) can cut a better deal. Huge deving possibility. And ain't got too much money to change the phone too often.
Good luck.

Hi guys,
Quick question.
Shouldn't we be able to choose from snapdragon or exynos SoC? I mean isn't this like lying to costumers about their product? I bought a S9+ and in overall the phone is good BUT there's a good difference when it comes to playing games on it. Snapdragon is more efficient than Exynos and I don't think that selling a S9+ with Snapdragon and S9+ for the same is correct.
What's is your opinion, guys? ?
Yes, it is legal.
Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
It's legal... because by model number you can check device specifics.
Even with many things you'll find same model number but with different revisions where hardware has been changed in some way on each revision.
So you should check first which model you prefer.
Sent from S.G. S9 Plus Duos using Tapatalk
I must pay more attention to it when buy smartphones next time.
Unfortunately, it is. What it isn't legal is if you buy it online claiming to be the Snapdragon version and you get the Exynos version.
I was fortunate enough to get a SD version (gift) lol the only down side is it doesn't have an unlockable BL

its fifty bajillion percent legal. is it being transparent to the consumer? not at all. That being said, yes, the model number is on the box, but who would know to check for that? The average android user isnt even aware that there are 3 very distinctly different sets of models for galaxy phones these days. All they know is that there is a + and a non+ model. I get it why they dont just lay it out there for folks to interpret as it can easily get murky for the average consumer.
Long story short is that Samsung is in a very complicated position that they created for themselves. They legally have to tell people that they are different models, but 99,9% of the users dont care in the slightest what processor it has
