Help with AOSP Dialer and Frequents Code - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've searched on the forums but found nothing that helps. I'm trying to edit the right code on the AOSP dialer that will stop it from storing every call as a frequent contact. I'm using apktool and have managed to recompile some working versions but only with certian cosmetic/menu changes and nothing that actually stops the frequently called list from adding each call.
Could anyone please point me in the right direction? I just need to know where to look or what to look for. I'm sure it's just something simple like changing a 'true' to 'false' or adding a line that makes clear frequents automatic after every call. Any help is much appreciated.
Thanks

[Q] Hard question for experts

I've been around for some years know reading and learning and have almost always found what I needed in this forums to have my devices working as I wanted them to work. This time I searched allover and can't find anything to help me out.
I have a sim card with two numbers (lines). When I switch lines the name of the line appears after the operator name and I always know what line I have active. Recently I flashed a new rom and now when I switch lines the name doesn't change. To have the correct name I have to reset my phone. Is there a way to fix this.
Thanks a lot
Cookie Home Tab Mods maybe?
are you using Cookie Home Tab? If so maybe you could look up this setting in the misc settings page in Cookie Home Tab Editor. If you leave it blank your provider name will appear. If you do not have CHT installed, maybe it will help you to accomplish this. I would install these Mods to look and see if it works. Good luck!
Thank you for your reply.
The provider name and the line name shows up fine. My problem is when I switch lines the name of the line don't change. I have to soft reset to make it change.
you would probably be best trying to get an answer from the whoever cooked the rom...
hope that helps
Thanks. I'll do that.

[Q] Looking for "incoming call app" replacement

Hi friends,
i am looking for an app that is responsible for displaying the incoming call screen. Currently, i am using [ROM][Gingerbread] 2.3.7 | Clean Android | AOSP.
The rom is great so far, just the mentioned screen is really bugging me in its looks.
So i found out, that a system app called "phone.apk" is responsible for this. Unfortunately, i couldnt find anything like this on the web, so i ask here.
To clarify: I do not speak of the contacts screen, nor of the dialer screen.
I hope somebody can help here.
Two things i forgot to say:
1) If this is the wrong forum, i apologize. I just dont see any other general android forum where i can post questions.
2) I already tried replacing phone.apk's - i get "forced close" all the time. Its not about chown/chmod, as it is the same as the previous system apps values.
And since current roms phone.apk is odexed, and xml is scrambled, i cannot modify "phone.apk" in eclipse.
I used adb shell to swap apk's.
So what should i do, please? I want a better incoming call screen. This one is so embarassing!!

[Q] Song duplicate deleter app

I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask this but ill go for it anyway.
I'm looking to build a basic app that will scan your phone for song duplicates and give you the option to delete some or all the duplicates that it finds ... the only problem? My coding levels are minimal ... would anyone be able to point me in the right direction of some code that could get me off on a head start? (Generally once i'v seen a working code i can figure out how it works and implement it how i need too)
Thanks in advance,

Modding an APK?

Hi guys! :victory:
I'm new around here, nice to meet you all. This is my first post and I wasn't exactly sure where to ask this so feel free to point me in the right direction if you have a better place.
I'm sure this question has been asked time and time again, so I understand if this comes off as annoying or redundant, but I need some serious help here.
I'd like to start off by saying that I have no knowledge of Android development further than installing ROMs and working with Xposed framework, so please bear with me here.
I need to disguise an app. I have an APK file, and I would like to change the name and the icon, and if possible, somehow lock it. I tried using Hide it Pro, but it refused to actually lock the app. I need this done ASAP, and I'm willing to do all the research and work on my own, I just need pointed in the right direction. I made it so far as changing the icon and name using an APK editor, however I could not log into the app afterwards, and the icon changed itself back to the original.
Any ideas?
Thanks!

Quick edit here: This APK isn't for me, it is for my boyfriend, so I would need to test it and send it to him, and see if it works on his side.

Editing a text messaging apk

(Forgive me if I'm posting to the wrong place.)
I was hoping to find info, or if anyone had already tried to decompile & edit newer (2015-2017) text messaging apps or even ROMs to increase the MMS size limit. I've been able to do so years back with phones like the HTC Evo (if that's any indication of how long it's been since), and was having problems finding anything more recent than those instances. The phone/apps I'm looking to apply these changes to is the Huawei mate 9 pro, it's stock sms apk, or even the Android messages apk. Any help or suggestions I could get in this task would be greatly appreciated!
How you found your answer? If so I'm interested as well!
