I found this tutorial and decided to make a video of it for you.It would work only with snapdragon 800 devices running Kitkat 4.4+ and rooted. This won't work otherwise at the moment.Make sure you update to the latest play services and Google search apps.

Yes it works
But sometimes when google search get killed you have tap it again to make this work.
Is there anyway to keep this alive?
Works like a charm! Does this "mod" bring a battery hit?

Using it now. Only works with English (US) as far as I can tell. Anyone knows if this thing uses the low power sensor processor portion of the snapdragon 800?
I don't seem to get an option for Debug in google search to enable those options. what went wrong?
Hi Guys,
Just now I found where is my problem with "ok google". The LG On-Screen-Phone notification system is somehow incompatible with the OK Google keyword detection.
To disable it, go to Settings > General > System > Accessibility > Services and disable the On-Screen-Phone notifications.
After the change of the open search everything worked. But I still had a problem with detection on the desktop. Here it turned out that only works with the Google search widget 4x1.
Already everything is perfect.

Most likely not. It just runs as a background app and keeps a wakelock when the phone is charging. To use the low power sensor of the SD800 it would require some deep kernel coding.
Sorted...didn't had the latest google search...installed the update from play store and voila the steps mentioned worked! Thanks

Has anyone installed and tried Google Dialer on this phone yet? If so which apk did you use? Any problems?
What google dialer are you talking about? It already has the stock dialer from aosp on the phone.

No, I have it installed but I have 2 phone apps in app drawer, you can't disable the phone app that comes with the phone.
Just tried it. Moto assist does not work using the Google dialer. So when I'm home, the phone no longer let's me answer the phone with voice activation. I use that more than I'd use the Google dialer features, thanks for posting the apk though.

Any time I do the location search at the top of the dialer in the APK I get a force close of the dialer. For instance I can type "Home Depot", as soon as I press on the result to select it I get a FC.

I'm pretty sure you need more than just the dialer apk to get that functionality.
I was looking for a way to have that functionality as well, and after a little research I found out that the location search on the dialer is an exclusive feature for Nexus and Google Play devices :crying: . I had that on my Galaxy S4 GPE and I liked that feature too. Found a post on Android Police explaining on how to make it work on other devices, but a lot of bugs can happen.

I've updated to Android 5.0 out of the box when I got my phone few days ago. - This morning I've installed the 1.1 Dialer APK linked in this thread, however, something did not work, when I pull up the app info on the only icon in the drawer it tells me version 5.0-10.
However, if I go into Settings > Apps > (Downloaded Tab) I see Dialer 1.1 is installed, under (All) I still see Dialer, and version lists 5.0-10 - The 5.0-10 is the stock moto one for Android 5.0, and this one does not have the caller ID, reverse look-up.
I might try disabling the 5.0-10, but from what I understand, that messes with the phone in a big way?

I'm not sure what can happen if you disable the stock dialer app, maybe prevent you from making/receiving phone calls if you don't have another dialer app installed? That's just my guess though, never actually did it to check. Were you able to make the location feature work?

I was unable to get the Caller ID to work, the phone shows me that they are both installed ( Settings > Apps ) - however, the one that came with the stock/factory ROM is preventing the 1.1 version for loading/showing at all in the apps list, so short of disabling the stock one (which I understand is not something one should be doing), I can't even open/access the offloaded one (Dialer 1.1)
I might get brave and disable the stock dialer, see if the Dialer 1.1 surfaces in the apps list.

I think that no major issues should arise as long as you just freeze the app and not uninstall it with titanium backup, but again, that's just my wild guess haha. Anyway, leave us posted about your findings.

OK - Got it Working!!! - Not Really, it crashes.
Step #1 - Download/Install the APK from this post
(will need a file manager to browse the phone to where the APK was downloaded to)
Step #2 - Create shortcut for Google Dialer 1.1 that you just installed using QuickShortcutMaker
Detailed instructions are HERE - Start at Step #3 on that page.
(Stock Dialer should be the only one showing in app drawer, you need to make a shortcut for the Google Dialer 1.1)
Step #3 - Win!!!
Some Pictures as Proof in Puddin
Stock Moto X Lollipop 5.0 Dialer / Settings
Nexus Android 5.x Dialer (Dialer 1.1) / Settings / Results
Google Dialer 1.1 shortcut above Stock Dialer shortcut.
Since trying this app initially, I've rooted my phone, and I've tried to follow steps outlined in (http://htc-one.wonderhowto.com/how-to/install-new-kitkat-4-4-3-dialer-your-htc-one-0155515/), specifically Step 2 - Where the app is installed in /system/priv-app/ folders - I am sad to report this does not work still on MotoX
As previous users suggested, there are probably those other services the Dialer depends on that need to be installed.
I'll update if I find a solution.
I don't know if it matters but I had a Nexus 6 before getting my Moto X. The Google Dialer was version 2.0. I didn't grab the APK before returning it but I'm sure it could be pulled from the factory image.
I was unable to make this work, root/non-root.
Got it working, here -http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x-2014/themes-apps/mod-google-dialer-messenger-pure-edition-t2982408
For this you must have root, Xposed, and TWRP.
The attached flash able zip includes:
-Pixel Launcher
-Pixel Dialer
-Static wallpapers
-Boot animation
-Ringtones
-Notifications
-UI sounds
For some reason xda is not allowing me to post the zip so here is the download link: https://www.mediafire.com/?jzfi51r10c35rdb
Simply download the zip, reboot to TWRP, flash, reboot
I take no credit whatsoever for this zip. This is the zip that was taken from the article here: https://www.google.com/amp/phandroid.com/2016/10/21/pixel-features-apps-any-android-phone/amp/
To get Google Assistant:
1) Download and install the latest Google apk from APK mirror. It should be at least version 6.6.14.21 and have a target of Android 7.0.
2) Download Xposed Module "Assistant Enabler". Activate and reboot.
3) Once rebooted, clear data and cache of Google App. Google Assistant should now pop up when you long press the home button.
Note: "OK Google" does not work.

Cool. I flashed the file. Dialer is in fact there but it is still using stock ZTE In call UI. Anyway to use Google Dialer for in call ui? I am about to try to get Google Assistant working.
Thanks.
Did you set the Pixel dialer as the default dialer app in Settings? If that doesn't work you can delete the stock dialer app with a system app remover like I did
Can confirm OK Google is not working which is annoying but everything else is pretty dope.

Might be worth a try-
In order to make OK Google work on my Nexus 6, I had to set my phone language to English (UK), also set search language, google assistant language, voice language... basically everything language related to English(UK).
The reason is a bug related to English(US) language file. All these information along with a detailed guide can be found in Nexus 6P section.
It might also require a app data wipe for the Google application.
My Axon 7 hasn't arrived yet, so I am unable to test myself.

For some reason the Axon 7 (US) doesn't have UK English as a language option so this won't work

I may be wrong, but I remember reading that "OK Google", in Google Assistant, only works with Nougat (Android 7.0+) phones.
You could anyways use Nova Launcher instead to get "ok Google" to work. With latest beta you can almost make it exactly like the pixel launder

So when you get or receive a call is the stock android dialer interface ? Or the Zte interface with a small picture on the upper right-side ? Thanks.
I'm using Google Dialer v ...rc8 without root but the calling interface is still the Zte one.

I already have it looking "Pixel" with the latest Nova Beta... I also have "Ok Google" working with the standard Google app..... Just not sure if it would link to "Google Assistant"?
If someone tries it with Nova and gets it to work, I'd like to know?

T-Mobile is shipping out my V30 today What's the first things to do to tweak this ? Would like your help and advice please.
- Do I run the updates first thing, and download and install the latest T-Mobile version for the phone before doing anything else ?
- I want to follow this guide;
https://android.gadgethacks.com/how-to/turn-your-lg-v30-into-google-pixel-2-0180558/
Is that guide still valid and up to date ? Installing the Pixel 2 launcher works ok on the V30 ? And the other Google apps like the Phone, and Contacts ?
- How bout the app disabler ? I heard there's issues with it due to the newest T-Mobile update ? Is this guide still valid ?
https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-v30/how-to/guide-make-v30-faster-smoother-t3693083
Download those two apps, and those will allow me to debloat specific apps I don't want ?
- For ad stoppers in broswer and apps ? Is Blokada the best option ?
- Anything else
Honestly, I would install the 10c system update and switch to Nova launcher then play with the phone for a week before starting to de-bloat/modify anything more. The 10c update seems to have addressed a lot of the scrolling lag issues some were experiencing. The T-Mobile version seems to be pretty clean as far as bloat (unlike AT&T and Verizon which are jam packed). This will also give you a baseline to compare against so if you do want to modify, you can note the difference.

If you want the simplest ...
Just uninstall or disable what you dont want. On Tmo, it's not bad at all.
If you're on Verizon - good luck. Ive never seen so much bloatware installed.

Maybe when I did the app disabler I turned off something that these ad blockers need ?
So, I did everything in my first post, and the phone looks and acts almost like a stock Android phone. Only thing I didn't do was installation Pixel type theme from the Play Store, mainly because what's really to be themed now after my tweaks ? I installed the Google Phone. Google Messages. Google Calendar. Running the Pixel 2 Launcher. Only thing I might so tweaked with a theme on the V30 would be the Settings menu and maybe status bar ?

Most likely. Though it could have something to do with the Google apps you installed as I noticed a lot of blocking that Blockada does involves Google analytics and tracking as well.

Because Xiaomi are an ecosystem company, like Google. They'd rather we used their apps; measures to restrict use of Google Apps enforce this
