Screen Not Responsive - LG V30 Questions & Answers

so out of the blue my screen decided to stop responding to touch.
only thing i remember doing out of the ordinary today was change the screen size and font from small to large but doubt this could be the reason.
i was on a call and when it was time to end it i realized the "end" button wasnt disconnecting. after the person hung up on the other end i tried to navigate my phone and nothing.
thinking it was frozen i locked it with the power button and when i put it back on i could not unlock the screen.
i restarted with volume down and power... same thing.
rebooted to twrp with button combo.. no dice...
any ideas or suggestions? anyway to boot up to safe mode or something?
should i kdz ?

Seems a lot of V30 touchscreens are dying these days. Mine did last year. And check the discussion linked below:

I hope that's NOT what you're having, though.

[Help] Power button issue

I tried to turn the screen off, but it keeps turning back on. I've had this issue for a while and looked it up. Most people said it was a hardware issue, but the thing is...now it will not turn off the screen at all. I know the power button works because I can long press it to get the power menu as well as hold to restart, but not turn off the screen. Also, I can activate the "lock" feature in TWRP as well with the power button. I had this issue on an older rom, so I wiped EVERYTHING and installed revolt, yet I still had this issue and as I was typing this, I got the new issue of it never turning off. I don't know what's causing it. Any ideas? It's been happening for a few days now.
Attempt 2: Now I have the stupid turning off issue. Now, every time I press the power button the opposite happens. It turns on for a second and then turns back off. I'm thinking that this is a hardware issue. Anyone else disagree?
Attempt 3: Back to same issue, turns off and turns right back on in like 2 seconds. Going to call Samsung and see what this is about.
[EDIT]: I should mention, I have the same vibrate issue described in this thread. I'm suspecting a stuck power button. Great. Time to talk AT&T into giving me an early upgrade.
A stuck power button won't allow your phone to boot up completely. So you're probably ok there if you can boot up and type in an app.
You do have an issue though. Something got borked up somewhere. I would try going back to stock completely.
Backup important files, wipe EVERYthing on the phone at least twice. Then using Samsung kies on a PC do an emergency firmware update. Once your update completes perform another factory reset and see how she's working. If you still have a problem then contact Samsung. If no problem, enjoy your phone!
Eh, I tried the wiping everything (internal, not the sd card), but I guess I shall try moving it to stock as well. Do you suggest keeping TWRP or should I install stock kernel, recovery, and do a firmware update? I might also dump my phone in rice to see if maybe some water got in there (doubt it though). Also, I might be screwed if it's otherwise. Been over a year since I bought the note.
Also, are you sure it's not stuck (partially or sometimes maybe)? My phone is constantly rebooting on and off for no reason and sometimes this happens, other times the power button is okay. But when it does reboot, it vibrates a lot. Sometimes it'll just keep vibrating and never reboot like it's turning off and on constantly and I have to press and hold the power button a few times before it starts booting again.
EDIT: I also realize it could be a combination of issues and one of these issues might be a battery one. I do have another battery and I can feel a noticeable bulge so I'll go home, change the roms, battery, and do a firmware update and see how it goes.
Would just like to add that flashing an official firmware through kies did not fix my problem. Furthermore, now I'm getting the invalid sim problem and it keeps asking me to restart. I had this problem before and just recently (a week ago) got a new sim and now it's back. Maybe it's an hardware issue?

I don't think this is the right forum, but I couldn't find one specifically for this device.
I'll start with a brief explanation...
I work in a motel where things are constantly being left behind by guests. Policy requires that we hold lost items for 30 days. At which time employees can take said items. I always get the phones/gadgets.
So, I just got one of these LG Optimus Dynamic devices. However, it won't turn on (probably the reason they left it behind). When I press the power button, I just get a solid white screen... Is there any way to fix this device, or is it just a paperweight at this point?

@Can0dope
Remove battery. Wait 10 seconds. Put battery back in. Hold Volume Down and plug an Usb cable in it (USB must be in PC with an os running also). Tell me what happens.
@christi9503 I followed your instructions. It booted up to the white screen again, the screen flashed, it made a boot sound, and vibrated. A crack has recently appeared under the screen. Touch is still responsive.

That is strange that should get you in the emergency mode. Try again holding button up. If this does not work power it off hold Volume down+Home button+Power. wait 8 seconds release power. tell me what happens.

MiniOS screen

Okay, fairly experienced android user here and i generally figure issues like these out fairly quickly before but anyway Decided to run some test on my sprint LG G3, went to the hidden menu ran the test fine in manual mode but decided to try the device test and that is where **** hits the fan. it said the device will need to restart and it did and it boots into the minios screen with the arrows jumping upwards then blank. touched the screen and a circle with a plus sign in it shows up and the colors change depending on how may fingers am using but now i can't get out of it, removed the battery and insert same thing. I really don't want to do a factory data wipe. saw a thread on here from somebody that had the same issue with the verizon LG G3 and he was able to fix it by just holding down the power and selecting normal boot. Unfortunately that wasn't the case for me, am on sprint LG G3, nothing shows up with just holding down the power button. I tried restarting and keep the power button held down and still nothing it boots straight into the minios animation and then blank screen. If anybody have something i can try besides full data wipe i would really appreciate it. Again am not some noob that decided to play doctor with the hidden settings without knowing what i was getting into, funny thing is i ran these test before and it worked out fine not sure what is different this time but then again its android anything can happen. Also i have encryption turned on am not sure if that is a factor. Side info, am stock kit kat, non rooted and all.

If you're not getting the "Touch screen here" or something like that then you're probably gonna need Flashtool. Follow this thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=54912191&postcount=1
Usually, in Mini OS, if you're not getting the "BIG RED 2", Hold down the power button along with touching the screen. So you do them at the same time.
Other than that, Flashtool is the only way I can think of.
guys I am also in same situation. My LG G3 is encrypted and while doing diagnostics, it went in to MiniOS mode with nothing showing on the screen.
any one can help with way out?

LGV10 (h901) started bootlooping, died, and won't let me back into recovery

Got my h901 14 months ago. It's rooted, and the bootloader is unlocked; and, aside from the documented battery-life issues, its been a terrific smartphone for me.
This evening, it started bootlooping. I was able to get into the menu long enough to go into TWRP, and do a factory reset. It booted up alright, and started to re-load Android. Partway through the process, the screen turned black. Couldn't get it to come back with double tapping/ tried holding down the Power button to get the power menu...no luck there/pulled the battery, and held the Power button until it started up. However, it went past the LG splash screen to the 'Your device software can't be check for corruption' screen. It hangs at that screen...and, after about 60 seconds, turns off.
I did the manual boot into Recovery, and got to the 'Factory data reset' screen. When it asked me 'Delete all user data...' on two consecutive screens, I answered 'yes' both times (using the volume buttons for up/down, and the power button to execute). After that, it went back to the 'Your device software can't be check for corruption' screen. It hangs at that screen...and, after about 60 seconds, turns off.
Is the phone bricked, fried or something else un-fixable? I have the full insurance/coverage from T-Mobile...so, I can get it replaced. But, I'd rather fix it myself, if this is possible.
Thanks, in advance for your help!

Replace it if you can.Especially if you have all your data backed up.The V10's days are numbered, i assume from the symptoms your listed that your phone is gone into the dreaded bootloop. It's hardware failure! The fact that it suddenly shut off, booted part way and suddenly died only to keep crashing at the warning screen leads me to think it is indeed done. you can confirm if it is a hardware failure by putting the phone in the freezer for 15-20 min.If it boots and works for a while and shuts off (confirmed hardware failure).Even if it does end up working, its better to just get a replacement better yet a more reliable phone. As i said all V10's have their days numbered
same thing happen to me today :/ anyway to fix this?

LG V10 Help Needed!! Stuck on LG Screen (No Overheat), LGUP/Windows won't Detect

Hi Guys,
Greetings to all . So after failing with Googling and trying on my own, i'm here again with another problematic phone .
(Skip the Description if you want, in short i bought my V10 about 8 months back and i didnt have any issues even with heavy usage/gaming)
I bought the V10 H961N Dua Sim variant used almost 8 months back.During my pre purchase research i became well aware of the infamous "Bootloop of Death" faced by numerous LG V10/V20/G4/G5 phones, But the amazing cost/specs ratio and dual sim support was within my budget and i was willing to take the risk that mine won't be one of the "BAD" ones, and apparently it worked out in my favor.
at the start i was too careful not to even open too many tabs in chrome, but with time i became confident and since after a couple months of buying it i've been using it to have over 35 chrome tabs open at a time, playing some heavy games and compressed movies.
Played PUBG Mobile almost daily for the last month or so, and it just heated up same as my Xperia Z5, with no issues and ho lagging/bootlooping/crashing once.
THE PROBLEM
This Tuesday night, as i was sitting in front of my laptop with the V10 on charge infront of me, downloading several versions of Angry Birds from the playstore (i download a bunch of apps/games at a time and then delete the ones i dont like later) and also it was updating some of the installed apps.
battery (last i checked) was just over 76% or so, and the next time i looked at the phone it was showing the LG Boot Logo (not the animated one, but the static "splash logo" that shows up at the beginning of boot process) . it had turned off and rebooted by itself during charging.
i thought it was nothing, waited for it to complete boot, but when it took longer than normal i pulled out the battery , tried to boot again but again got stuck at the boot logo.
Several retries, same result.
Current State of the Phone
Model : H961N Dual Sim Variant
Firmware : Official Nougat H961N30a_00_0519.kdz Flashed manually via LGUP about 3 months back.
Rooted : No
Bootloader : Locked/Stock State
Problem : Phone gets stuck on LG logo when turned on, waited for upto 15 mins, wont go forward.
There is no apparent overheating i dont feel the phone overheating or anything during boot up process, battery is also normal temp.
JUST ONCE, RANDOMLY, YESTERDAY MORNING IT GOT PAST THE BOOT SCREEN AND WENT UPTO THE LOCK SCREEN, EVERYTHING SEEMED NORMAL AND IT SHOWED THE SCREEN AND ALL THE STATUS ICONS, THEN REBOOTED AFTER LIKE 2 SECONDS .
What i've tried so far
Changed Battery, Didnt Work
Can't get into recovery using hardware keys., so cant hard reset it. (the Vol Down key on it sometimes doesnt work so i dont know if its the same thing causing the Vol Down + Power button combination to not work for getting into recovery mode or i am having the same problem as a lot of other users who also can't access the stock recovery on LG V10.
I can get into "Download Mode" by pressing Vol Up and plugging into the USB port of my laptop.
Phone is not detected by LGUP or Device Manager in windows. if i connect it while powered off, it shows the "charging Screen" for a second, reboots to the charging animation screen and then continues on trying to boot by itself. (yes, my v10 cant charge while powered off, it turns on when i connect to wall charger always)
if i connect it to the laptop while in "Download Mode", still not detected.
phone is not visible anywhere in Device Manager, not detected by LGUP, LG FlashTool, Uppercut in either download mode or connected to laptop while powered off (as it continues on to "charge and power on itself")
I used this same laptop to flash the official nougat rom on this phone about 3 months back All Drivers are installed, using the same version of LGUP as before, with uppercut. also tried with LG FlashTool. but this time not detected by windows/LGUP/LG FlashTool. LGUP says no phone connected, the "COM/Devices" list shows up empty.
Also Tried doing it on another laptop with completely clean OS (free from any previous drivers/apps/android related installations), same results.
Tried it on my office desktop with Win 7, no joy .
Tried several different USB cables (long ones, short ones, and they are all good quality), didn't help either.
Kindly help me in recovering my V10, as its not even detected by windows in "Download Mode', which i can't understand at all.
Any help will be greatly appreciated. Following is a list of the versions of drivers/apps i have tried so far.
Drivers
LGUnitedMobileDriver_S51MAN312AP22_ML_WHQL_Ver_3.12.3
LGUP_8994_DLL_Ver_0_0_3_23
LG-Mobile-Driver_v3.14.1
LG-Mobile-Driver_v4.0.3.0
Apps

Hello there,
First of all Extremely sorry for such late reply, after not having any internet access for quite a while, I just t got a chance today to check my emails and any notifications.
I had to disassemble my V10. I'm not sure about the G5, but on V10 the volume keys are a separate flex cable module connected to the motherboard, and the market here is full of dead/bootlooping V10s and G5s so it was an easy replacement to find and install.
But still the problem wasn't resolved.
For the stuck on logo issue, i had to get the cpu reballed on the mobo as a final effort, after trying and failing on everything else for about 2 months. Which was strange because I had absolutely no overheating issues prior to the V10 dying on me as well as no signs of overheat when it was stuck on logo, so I never suspected the infamous "loosening of the cpu chip on mobo" on V10s, G5s V20s etc as the cause of my actual problem.
Also this might be worth pointing out that since my V10 was already disassembled, I decided to install a heatsink (several guides and videos on that available online, do on your own risk).
And also decided to retry my "original" volume keys module.
I found out that one of the connector pins on the motherboard were bent so I very carefully straightened it up, as well as cleaned up some gunk on the module itself under using rubbing alcohol.
After drying it up, it worked flawlessly for a week or so before the volume down key stopped working again. I guess the connector pin under it slipped again, but because of my extremely busy routine now, and also just not feeling the need to take it apart anytime soon so just using my phone just as it is for now .
For volume changes I just use the notification bar, or press volume up once to bring up the volume slider and then lowering the volume form there.
For taking screenshots, I've installed "screenshot touch" app from playstore (free). I already found the screenshot method on V10 quite inconvenient anyways, and the "Capture+" feels too much work for just a screenshot so the app works for me .

Thank you for replying. I implemented the same workarounds for my volume keys also but failed to think of recovery since I usually boot recovery from shutdown menu or term emulator.
I fixed my g5, sounds like we have similar button hardware, I had a few pins that weren't contacting the back of the case which I think is grounding it....I sent them up a bit and was able to boot into twrp. There glitchy again but I just pinch the case a lil and they work(time for a new phone lol)
