Hi, I have a touchpad running KitKat. I wonder what are the advantages of nouget has over KitKat?
It all depends on how the Tablet will be use for.
Eventually newer Apps will not be supported on older Android version, it will end up similar as WebOS. A great OS but with limited updated Apps.
Follow this guide to have a faster tablet and select any desire ROM:

i already have samsung galaxy core but i have read the thread that say my phone can upgrade to android 4.4 kitkat. how to upgrade the android version for my phone...need help.....
I don’t know the device, and I don't think you read that correctly. But if you did, you'd just have to wait. Check the article again, maybe it has a date.

No official update
Android 4.4 KitKat can be run on lower end devices such as those with 512MB of RAM, overall galaxy core will also come under this lower end device category that's why you might have read this.. However, Samsung will probably NOT release any further updates, though we always have XDA, check for cynogenmod 11 for your device. It'll probably be at a development stage but you can have the initial experience.. :good::good:
Hello every1, the thing is that according to what ive read today Android doesn't fully supports the Dual Core processors right now. So i would like to know if there will be new version of Android one day with full dual core support would i be able to just upgrade the android on my phone or not?
I bought ViewPad 10s tablet a while ago and I never used it till now. Only this week I started to use it, but I realized that it has very old OS android 2.2. And it does not even have the google play. It has only 256 MB free space.
I would really really appreciate if one of you (android guru) help me to get the tablet to the latest OS. Otherwise its really unusable
thanks

You are able to install a custom rom like Vega; http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1397204 . There are newer os versions available, but I would not advice to go any further than ICS as the device is quite old and the specs just won´t run the newer os versions smoothly. ICS will already get your device compatible with alot more apps than froyo.

Hi there,
Probably a silly question, I have a SGP312 and it is on Lollipop since 3 years, do you think is there a way to upgrade to the latest Android 8.1?
If not 8.1, what would be the highest version I can go and how?
The Tablet is essentially a stock one, I never did anything on it, just applied the Sony updates they made available for this old model.
Thank you,
Alex

Hello!
It's quite possible to install even the latest 8.1, though it is still not that stable now.
If you want 99% bug-free experience, i would stick to android 7.1.2, like Resurrection Remix ROM till 8.1 gets to a polished state.
Check this guide for installing custom ROMs on device.
Thank you for the link!
I will give it a try very soon.

Hi buddies,
I have a Sony Xperia Tablet Z (Model: SGP321) with Lollipop v5.0.2.
I had rooted it since a couple of years, so no need to say, it couldn't be upgraded to any higher version of android.
Now I unrooted it and wanna upgrade its android.
My questions:
1. What's the highest Android version officially released for this model?
2. What's the best version you advise me to install on it?
Thanks for your kind & prompt reply.
Cheers,
Leon

Hello!
1. The latest official firmware is android 5.1.1 (v.10.7.A.0.222 or 10.7.A.0.228 depending on region, though internally they are identical).
You can update via xperia-companion software.
2. What's the best only you can say. If stock sony one works good for you, stick to it.
If you have knowledge how to install, and want to try something "custom", there are firmwares based on android 7.1.2 and 8.1 on this forum.
The media players on my Xperia sgp312 keep pausing, has it got something to do with the software, I am still on Android 5.1.1
I am looking to root my Galaxy View so that I can upgrade to a newer version of Android and had a couple of questions. What version can I update to without running into problems and will updating to a newer OS allow me to install apps that were not compatible before such as Teams? This is my first time rooting a device since my original Motorola Droid and much has changed it seems. Thanks for any help.
Idk why Samsung wouldn't continue to support their largest device on the market. Here's an idea why don't the apps just continue to support all devices they did use at one time. They already have the os so just but it back on the server like the current os is. So it's the app writers that's making devices obsolete.
Good Evening/Hello/Hi,
I own a Huawei MediaPad 10 Link Plus(16 GB) and I am running stock OS (Android 4.2), unrooted. I am a total stranger when it comes to upgrading OS through bootloader, but I have successfully rooted a phone once, a very long time ago ( but I had no idea what it did and I don't remember how) . So I would like to ask for help on how to upgrade tablet's OS to the newest version that is possible on this device ( I mean it's got 1 gig of ram and a quad core cpu, we can get more juice out of it can we?). I can find a bunch of useful information here, but it seems I am having a hard time finding specifly what I need to accomplish my task. I know that the newest version that's officially possible is Android 4.2, but an unofficial version can be even higher right? The stock OS seems to be super laggy and filled with bloatware and an ugly UI.
I would like that the new OS would be as close to stock Android as possible.
Thank You
I tried to find a custom ROM, but it seems as if there are none really. I also read somewhere that it is not possible to even root the device, so you may have hit a bit of a roadblock. The best thing you can do is install a custom recovery and try to build your own ROM (I know, I know). You'd have to do quite a bit of work since there aren't many files available out there for the device.
