Magicsee N5 Plus Amlogic S905X3 - How to backup firmware/alternative firmware? - Android Stick & Console AMLogic based Computers

I just picked up a Magicsee N5 Plus Android 9.0 TV Box (Amlogic S905X3), and before doing much experimenting I wanted to backup the firmware.
I am totally new to these boxes, (I have used TWRP on my Galaxy S5), is there something available for these TV boxes?
Is there a FW update tool that runs on linux? (I've seen a windows tool, but I don't use windows).
Can anyone suggest alternate firmware for this box? I'm especially interested in linux, but I'm open to suggestions.

You can install slimboxtv : https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...tatus-notification-bar.4018073/#post-85846789

T95Z 3x32 Downgrade to Android 6?

I have a T95Z 3GB RAM with 32GB Storage.
However I'm seeing an issue with one of the App I use.
It appears it may have something to do with the version of Android its running, 7.1.2.
What would be the best way to go from Android from Android 7.1.2 to 6 on this device?
if you want to downgrade, you must downgrade only by flashing the firmware with USB Buring Tool from PC i have too a T95Z Plus 3/32 box and i was searching some firmwares and i successfully downgraded too on Android 6 from PC

Mecool K5 with SoC S905X3

Hello, I have the Mecool K5 with original firmware updated on 04-06-2021 and I have two problems that I cannot solve:
1- the device does not play any streaming video via website. For example, if I try to play content on a TV channel site, the screen opens but the video doesn’t start.
2- Netflix works quietly from the App store Google play is not updated, a message appears warning about the inability to update.
Have you also noticed these problems? Are there any solutions? What can I do to remedy?
Thanks everyone for the help.
I also have the same device, official ROM sucks, I installed

I don't have Netflix but everything else works really good, really similar experience to stock Google tv but some functions such as screen mirroring are still not working but you can still use Miracast+ and other stock apps still provided on this ROM.
You cannot install this ROM by update but if you have a USB A to USB A cable the flash with amlogic USB flashing tool is pretty straight forward.

Thank you @giuliotrupia1997!
As I am not very experienced, is there a guide to install this rom? or can you tell me how to proceed from scratch?
Are you italian?
Sorry for the late reply I've been very busy.
The process to install the ROM is pretty straight forward. USB A to A cable. Amlogic USB burning tool usually also install the needed drivers. Once you have opened the program and loaded the firmware you connect the unpowered device holding the power button( to put it in bootloader mode), then once it has been recognized you can flash.
You must use the usb 2.0 not the blue one or it won't be recognized.
You can find amlogic tool download link in that video description
Yes I'm Italian by the way
For anyone searching for I also identified the pins to short for NAND chip short method (to recover bricked box), I'll post a picture when I can.
Hi there! I was wondering did any of you try or even succeed in using the box with a surround-sound system?
I have another Amlogic S905X3 based device (H96 Max X3) - tried 4 different Android ROMs but couldn't get any of them to output surround sound, all of them insist to downsample to stereo PCM. Only way I found for surround sound so far is CoreELEC booted from MicroSD-Card, but I'd prefer an Android based OS so I can use streaming apps from PlayStore.

Converting Android TV firmware to Tablet/AOSP based firmware (S905X4 & RK3228a)

Hi guys, I'm very very new to the TV media box and I wish to use it for my digital signage PWA software.
The stock Android TV can't install the PWA at all.
Somebody showed me the firmware in the attached video. It seems like a tablet firmware for me but some said it's called AOSP firmware.
I have 2 boxes, one equip with RK3228a (Android 7 Upgraded to Android 11 but device info showed Android 7) and the other with S905x4 (Android 11)
Which firmware should I use in order to have the non-Android TV but Tablet/AOSP firmware so I can test out my PWA installation?
Really appreciate a lot of your help because I can't easily buy a ready media box that's non-Android TV firmware.

Putting the RK chip box aside, now focusing on the S905x4 box. How do I actually flash the box? Can I use ADB tool or I can only use SD to flash it?

USB Burning tool is recommended, visit project website for all the info.
I gotta reinstall the USB tool twice before the device can be detected properly and complete the flash. So now the S905x4 box is running SlimboxTV without problem!
Next is to deal with the RK boxes. Any idea if SlimboxTV has firmware to support them?
Just realised 11.6 SimboxTV doesn't allow my S905x4 box to install the PWA as WebAPK
What shall I do next? Flash to older version?
