Hello everyone I have a question to ask about the customization of my Galaxy SII GT-i9100 ... I followed the guide present in the Carbon Rom thread for the flash of the device and everything went well...now I have the TWRP with the Rom, which is not a splinter anyway, so I would need to try others, as I realize that Android 9 is a little too much for the Galaxy SII. Unfortunately, after flashing roms like Lineage OS 14, the device gets stuck on boot animation, but it is not the only Rom that does so. Can anyone explain to me how to possibly install different roms, since unfortunately I did not understand the mechanisms that underlie the modding of the Galaxy SII? Between Pit files and kernels to flash with Odin, I am a little lost xD Also I would like to know if, by flashing the stock rom with Odin, there is the risk of brick to start from scratch, without flashing the pit or anything. Thanks

hmmmm it is becuz there is rollback protection so once you try 9, no way back to 7.1 or so. restock will just brick emmc.
idk about what rom is good
Samsung's official firmwares are much more stable for GT-I9100 rather than custom ROMs for it. So, there is almost no reason to install the custom ROMs.
Now you have to go to a good repair shop (preferable official Samsung's).

Your replies will be highly appreciated!
Read the stickies in development sections.
But in short flash cfroot kernel with Odin and then flash rom you desire with the cwm.

It is not necessary a must to update firmware unless and other wise required
Anyway having latest is always good in terms of bug fixing etc.
You can use KIES for starters for updating Firmwares. Read the threads in XDA on ROM Flashing using ODIN , ROOT, modifying kernels etc then you can start play around with your phone. Stock firmware is quite good in my opinion.
have fun
i am from galaxy mini forum so get a galaxy s2 but how to know if it is S2 or S2 GT-i9100 o and what the diffirence?? and can you gays pleas link me to a tut aboug instaling costome recovery, which ODIN to use and so on .... last thing which is the best stable rom to use .....thanks in advance
1) Check the sticker on the phone chassis under the battery.
2) Differences between SGS2 variants ? Wikipedia.
3) Just about everything you need to know to get you started is in the Stickies.
4) There's no such thing as the "best stable rom to use". There are a heap of custom roms for the SGS2, it's an individual preference thing. And because no two people use their phone the same way or have it setup the same, and because component-wise no two phones come out of the factory exactly the same, your experience with a particular rom will most likely vary from mine.
The best thing to do is to get your phone rooted, preferably with CWM installed. This will enable you to backup, restore & flash roms/kernels in a matter of minutes. You can than try a bunch of roms for yourself. If you find you don't like a rom you try, it's easy to go back to your previous setup easily by restoring a backup; recommended regularly/before you flash anything to your phone.
ok so by flashing cwm and then a costom rom the divise will root by it self and do i have to flash a stock ics rom to install a costom ics rom??????
Lackchoo,
Flash one of Chainfire's kernels. His instructions are very clear. That will give you root and CWM, and possibly also a yellow triangle at startup which you shouldn't worry about at all.
You don't need to flash a stock ICS ROM to flash a custom ROM. After rooted, in CWM, just install the downloaded ZIP ROM file of the custom ROM. You will keep root and triangle will go away.
Ditto what the above person said about ROM's. However, you can try Cyanogen (Do a 'stable' release, not a 'nightly'), its the most 'popular' ROM in terms of numbers. One can't and shouldn't say which one is best. But for a newbie, I think Cyanogen is a good place to start. Perhaps it will give you the least issues and the most 'oohs!' for your initial newbie effort
I don't have the links with me from the smart phone, but just search 'chainfire kernel root galaxy s2' and 'cyanogen galaxy s2' and you should find the relevant thread. Read it slowly and repeatedly! I know I had to

Hello there,
Since January of last year things have changed a bit in S2 custom firmware. Not there is a emmc bug problem and based on what I read I should be careful what kernel I install.
Therefore, I have a 4.0.3 custom firmware. I want to upgrade on Jellyb 4.1.2 version.
What rom would you suggest me? Please any detailed guide would be greatly appreciated cause the S2 I have now seems to have emmc bug.
Thanks in advance
Just pick one, flash, use & enjoy. There isn't one "best" ROM. Try several and see for yourself which is right for you.
Regarding emmc, only 4.0.4 had that issue so avoid 4.0.4. Flash JB through Odin and remember to backup everything and use a nuke script to start from a like-new device.

I am a flashalcohlic, and I change my ROM in two days on my Nexus. it seem that things are a bit different, rom, cw, kernel in S2.
I gladly would enjoy some sugesstion on roms, kernels, recovery types just to get familiar with S2 world again.

The rule that states to not ask what is a 'good/best rom' isn't made to annoy people, but just to let people try them for theirselves, and because of the subjectiveness of the question. We cannot give you the answer, just try them (and since you're a flashaholic it won't be a big problem).

or any other custom or stock rom.
after all, i need to rooting the device to be more flexible
can anyone give me some help ??? rookie here...
thanks in advance
The device is already rooted, you just need to download any custom ROM you want, reboot to recovery, and flash your desired ROM from there.

first of all thanks for your answer.
If I understand properly
therefore, I'll have not any problem because of 4.4.4
that is correct ?
Yes, that is correct. The device is already rooted, with custom recovery, which means you can just reboot to recovery, wipe everything, and flash any desired ROM you want.
@@[email protected]........No disrespect intended, but this is "flashing 101" basics stuff........
The fact that you are asking it, tells me that you don't have the experience needed to do this comfortably.....
That's not a problem though.....we all start from the bottom, and learn as we go.....
But that being the case, i'd advise that you don't do anything to your phone until you've read, learnt and completely understood the processes behind the flashing procedure. It's best to understand what you are doing beforehand, rather than trying to figure out what went wrong afterwards.......

Hello community, I haven't used my S2 for quite a lot of time, simply, because I've swapped into iPhone (found jailbreaking and Swift coding more interesting to be honest) but now I've just found this masterpiece which somehow is still alive and was wondering about flashing something new there. From what I can see, there are a lot of Nougat roms, so I want to test it, but what I'm afraid of is bricking it. My knowledge is old, so probably I'm not really prepared to do it. I've read something about repartitioning (i've bricked one of my S2 phones earlier when I've missclicked repart in Odin). Can someone guide me how to prepare my phone, to install some Nougat ROM? I'm on some nightly 12.1 CM from 2015.11.14. have no clue what Recovery is there, when I boot there it's only CYANOGEN Recovery, no more info.
Any help is appreciated!

If you searched a little bit in the Q&A thread, you would have found this guide:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s2/help/guide-tutorial-samsung-galaxy-s2-i9100-t3538601
It's for repartitioning to be able to install Marshmallow and Nougat ROMs, it's about using lanchon repit tool, if you prefer using PC only, there is this guide i made:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...-start-feeling-somewhat-t3561726/post71195098
It's based on Saber's Guide, all thanks goes to him of course.
