ZTE Z828 root - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
I knew that there are temp root for this phones (ZTE Z828) but these root did not allow system access. However, if I am able to access system via ( dump system by EDL and mount and edit anything in there and unmount then flash back to the phone. It worked), how do I make the phone rooted. I tried to put superuser.apk app in the app folder but the phone denied to install the app when boot.
Please advise.
Thanks

[Q] Partially lost root access

I recently rooted my Gnex Toro build IMM76K using the wugfresh root toolkit and before rooting I took a backup of a few directories in the sdcard directory then restored them after finishing the root. It appears now that those directories that were restored do not have root access as I cannot move or delete any of the content via ES Explorer with root access, Error: File xx.mp3 cannot be deleted!. I've tried the built-in file permissions tool but am not getting anywhere. I haven't flashed a ROM. SuperUser comes via the root process so I did not think it would be wise to try to reinstall that.
Is there a way for me to fix these directories without having to unroot and re-root my phone?

Help with Root [MT8389]

Hello All!
I'm a new member of this forum. I'm from Bangladesh. Recently i bought an Android Tab (Symphony T8Q) which using a MT8389 chipset. I was searching for method to root it and found this thread-
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2130276
this tool called Framaroot (v1.61) works for my device and my device rooted. after rebooting, i found supersu in apps and i can apply 'su' command from terminal emulator as well. Then i've checked with root checker app and it's also showing that my device is rooted. But problem is i can't move apps to SD card, i use Android Assistant app and there's no 'Move to SD' button under storage section!
Then i installed ES File explorer and found i can't write system partition as it's read-only. i issue 'chmod' command from terminal, which showing me file system is read-only. currently i need to move apps to SD card, but can't find a way to do it. Also i need to change default bengali font of JB (v4.2) by replacing system's bengali font (Lohit-Bengali) with my choosen font. For this i need a working root method. is there any other tool which can root my device fully? so that i can write system partition, move apps to SD etc. etc.
I need some help Guys! Thanks in Advance.
Me too...!!
I also have the device, but rooting seems to be a problem with it. Sounds like your condition is half success...any progress after that? Please let me know if there is...

So If u really need to root The T8q you have to install Developer Option.apk from play store, enable usb debugging and use motochopper to root it. It's gonna take 4-5 mins so don't get anxious. And if u wanna unroot it just use factory reset. :fingers-crossed:

[Q] I still can't access system file permission

My XZU kitkat 4.4.4 .108 have rooted. Stock rom. I want to set Ext SDcard for Titanium Backup. But I can't access permission (etc/permissions/platform.xml) to change to writeable. I have tried Root Browser, Root Explorer, Solid Explorer and ES File Explorer. All no luck.
It pop up error ***operation failed message: cannot write to filesystem. Mount as read/write has failed***
But I have success to my rooted TabPro 8.4 SMT-325. Kitkat 4.4.2 with Solid Explorer or Root Explorer.
Another problem is I can't install busybox.
Any help or input
Thanks

Did you install nut's dual recovery by chance? It has busybox included and if you try to install another busybox it screws up root. For SD card try this app, if you are still rooted and have superuser installed properly it should work.

What's nut's dual recovery?
I did try SDFix already, it doesn't work to me.
The purpose I need access permission is modify platform.xml for Titanium backup and mixer_paths.xml for volume boost headphone.
I heard about a custom rom can access permission mostly, is it true? If yes, I might try flash to custom rom.

If SD card fix doesn't work and gives you an error message. You don't have true root access.
I know because I faced this issue about a month ago, I was able to get superuser access just not edit files I know because I tried to edit the platform as well, so re-root your phone and install the dual recovery (optional?) if you make it that far, run kk fix it should work.
The volume boost is meh, you're better with viper4android

The root checker show **device have rooted**
I used Easyroot. Does your meaning use easyroot to re-root the phone again? Or get another tool? Any rooting tool suggestion.
Should I unroot from supersu before re-root?
Yes I know that.. Like I said I had the same issue, you may have root access but you don't have true root, so re-root your phone. It will fix the issue.
So again re root your phone.
And for me I did not uproot I just ran the root exploit and overwrited the old su
Great! I'll try to root again tonight.
BTW, is your device is XZU and root by Easyroot.
Thanks
Nah I have galaxy s2 but posting in xzu section. Yes I have Xperia Z ultra. And yes I did the easy Xperia root, plus I have dual recovery
IT WORK !
As you said re-root device again. Access permission available and Titanium backup to extsd.
Thanks all you guys input.
Zomg don't forget to thank me, hit the thanks button. *sarcasm

Problem with root file system and with supersu binary update

Hello, im having a couple of problems regarding my filesystem as well as the app supersu and its binary file.
To start, i rooted with kingroot and switched to supersu using terminal emulator commands. There are still kingroot files in my xbin which i will attatch a picture showing the contents of my xbin folder in attatchments (i also have .tmpsu in xbin) please ask if you need more pictures or information of files located in my directories.
The problems i need help with is:
1. I cannot mount /system or any foler in that directory as r/w, i feel that there is a file located somewhere that is preventing me from mounting /system as r/w.
2. I cannot update the su binary, i have tried normal and twrp modes neither work. Ive also tried flashing the UPDATE-supersu-2.78.zip in twrp and that doesnt work either. It says that it installed but nothing changes once i boot back into system, i feel that me not being able to mount /system as r/w is preventing me from updating the su binary.
I need help on how to regain conrtol of my /system and how to update the su binary. Any help? Thank you
Some specs of phone:
Android 5.1
Cpu model - AArch64 processor rev 4
Kernel version - 3.10.65+
Model - blu vivo xl

I did try that too, it took around 15-20 minutes to uninstall then when i rebooted the app was gone but my device still had root. I did get it to uninstall root 1 time then i went and flashed the zip file and the same problem occured again. Maybe kingroot just f-ed up my device so root will never work properly again? Maybe a virus? Idk whats going on with it.

Your device does not have twrp/cwm port ?
It does, i have twrp(touch) 3.0 for blu vivo xl. Thats the only way i got my device unrooted one time. What i had to do i had to boot into recovery, mount /system, reboot into system then root explorer would allow me to mount /system as r/w but i believe theres a script or something somewhere that is locking the /system into read only mode cause after a short period of time (around 5 minutes or so) i can no longer modify or delete anything in that folder even though it still says its in r/w and if i close root explorer and reopen it it shows that its back in read only mode even though i didnt change it back to that.
Edit: if i mount /system in twrp and boot into system when i boot back into twrp system is not mounted anymore, idk if its supposed to do that or not.
These are the only possible solutions ive been able to find that do kinda make sense.
"It's because you need a boot.img with r.o secure=0 in the build prop" i went and looked and my file says r.o secure=1 that would explain why my system will not mount as r/w.
Another post i found said -
"I've found the source of the problem asking in the MIUI forums, the boot image will not accept a modified /system.
You have to use the adb interface: adb devices then adb disable-verity.
Disclaimer: I'm not responsible for any damage caused by these operations."
The second solution seems more reasonable and alot easier to do. My question now is: will one or both of these solutions possibly fix both my problems? And the second solution disabling verify should that be okay to do without messing up my device? I do have that recovery i could flash but dont wanna do anything that might make the phone not boot into recovery.

Yes that's normal , your problem is because of a buggy root

I just remembered something. I think i know what bugged it. I was trying to do an ota update for my device and it wouldnt let me. I found another app by chainfire called flashfire. I tried to flash the ota update and i had the option "inject supersu" enabled even though i already had supersu installed and everything else i needed for root. I guess doing that messed up all my su files ect.. But how do i fix it? I cant uninstall root cause my /system folder is locked into r/o. If i press full unroot in supersu it will remove the app (although it takes a while!) but all the files needed for root stay.
Guess there just no fixing this phone. Someone really hacked it good i guess, problem is still there and nothing can fix it...
Update - thread can be closed
Problem fixed, to fix the problems i was having i had to download the stock system files for my device and flash them, after that just installed the latest supersu 2.78 zip and remount problem is fixed.
