Odin messages rarely help. Look at any red message your phone throws out and tell us what that says.
I think I am facing similar issues, did you find a solution?

Hello, after i read up on this whole thing with rooting your phone and so on i finally tried it.
So as i tried i downloaded Odin v3.04 for the kernel root, Samsung Kiev for the phone drivers and Samsung Quick Root for the Root process.
So, i downloaded a compatitble kernal for my Samsung Galaxy Sll Gt-i9100, version 4.0.4, kernel xxlq6.
Then i put my phone into downloading mode and USB connected it. PDA'd the Kernel file in Odin and rooted.
As it turned out it bricked me as the kernel didn't Flash and that infamous Triangle appeared and my phone just sat like that.
It did not permit me to enter the Recovery mode but i could enter the Downloading mode again.
So after that i downloaded Siyah's "all in-one kernel" and tried with Odin again and here's what happend.
<ID:0/003> Complete(Write) operation failed.
<OSM> All threads completed. (succeed 0 / failed 1).
And now this happens on every single kernel file i try to download root on my phone. Thoughts? Do i have to USB-jig or is there an solution for me?

Try Odin 1.85. And try reinstalling the drivers
Hi, I bought a used SGS3. I want to root it as I have allways done with my Android phones.
After a lot of hours I spent trying to do it I find out that it could be related to: "CUSTOM BINARY DOWNLOAD: NO" message.
The facts:
- As I know the only way to root the device is using "custom binary download" mode.
- When I try to do it I read at download mode:
ODIN MODE
PRODUCT NAME: GT-I9300
CUSTOM BINARY DOWNLOAD: NO
CURRENT BINARY: Samsung Official
SYSTEM STATUS: Official
- Odin allways fails at this point and I suppose it is related to above message.
<ID:0/005> Initialzation..
<ID:0/005> Get PIT for mapping..
<ID:0/005> Complete(Write) operation failed.
<OSM> All threads completed. (succeed 0 / failed 1)
<ID:0/005> Added!!
- As I read to increase the binary download counter I need to be root, but I am not.
Conclusion: I will never be root, change de ROM or use privileged apps like backup apps and a device like that is useless for me.
I spent a lot of time trying to solve this and I am desperate.
I will thank any hint on this. Do I have any chance to fix this, root de device and chage ROM to cyanogen or other?
Thanks,
txemi
Do you want to root your s3 or flash custom ROMs?
Device: Samsung Galaxy S3
ROM: CyanogenMod 11 (Temasek Unofficial V24)
Kernel: Boeffla-Kernel-CM11-2.1-Beta7-
Both. I think I cannot flash if I am not root. I would like to be able to became root first and later flash custom ROMs.

Okay.
First go in download mode and flash the CWM (Clockworkmod Recorvery) for your s3 via Odin in Bootloader.

ROM: CyanogenMod 11 (Temasek Unofficial V24)
Kernel: Boeffla-Kernel-CM11-2.1-Beta7-

After some tests with linux and analyzing dmesg and lsubs output I realised that the real problem was not a software issue, hardware usb port instead.
Being a used phone I have just bought USB cable cannot fit properly in usb port and is nearly impossible to have an usb stable connection. It is not a problem of CUSTOM BINARY DOWNLOAD, it is a problem with any thing requiring usb connection. It seems previous owner did not mind because he used the phone as is and did not use usb for data transfers.
I tryed some cables I have at home but they did not work, now I do not know what to do. I am considering next options, I do not know if there are any more.
1) Going to Samsung tech support. I am not sure if it is expensive or it does take a long time to get phone fixed.
2) Try to give the phone back to seller.
3) Spend a lot of time and going crazy testing usb cables in case some work.
4) Look for some buyer that does not mind about usb and buy another phone for me.
Thanks again for your responses,
txemi
I have searched threads here as well as other places and have had no success.
Device: Verizon Samsung Galaxy S3 (SCH-I535)
Info: Stock, non-root and no ROMS
Current firmware: KitKat 4.4.2
I was trying to use Odin 3.09 to revert to the firmware version 4.1.2 (which I got from http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/) in order to install CM 11. I entered the phone into download mode and entered the 4.1.2 firmware file. Everything loaded and connected fine. I clicked Start and it stopped at aboot.mbn and failed because I think 4.4.2 has a locked bootloader. I also think I tripped the Knox Security flag and therefore it is now softbricked. The phone can still go into Download mode but not recovery mode.
I followed two guides to unbrick it:
1) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2581166
The microSD card method did not work. I have not tried JTAG.
2) http://www.androidauthority.com/galaxy-s3-i535-unbrick-soft-brick-125413/
Odin once again fails and cannot flash the VRALEC.bootchain.tar.md5 file, leaving the same error as before:
HTML:
<ID:0/004> aboot.mbn
<ID:0/004> NAND Write Start!!
<ID:0/004> FAIL! (Auth)
<ID:0/004>
<ID:0/004> Complete(Write) operation failed.
<OSM> All threads completed. (succeed 0 / failed 1)
This error appears on my phone:
HTML:
SW REV CHECK FAIL: Fused 2 > Binary 0
What can I do now?

you could post your question in the correct forum http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3-verizon
this here is i9300 international forum, so probably no one can help, espacially because i9300 has no knox.

I know my post maybe can't help you but I has the same problem with a Samsung Galaxy Mini 2 and I go to a SAMSUNG service and they resolved me. And I think this brick is because any Samsung device is not able to downgrade to an old version...
Read this about downgrade:

Hello, everybody
I've got problem with my SM-G355H Duos.
Odin console //
Code:
<OSM> All threads completed. (succeed 1 / failed 0)
After flashing stock rom, again same problem.
Firmware upgrade encountered an issue, advice?
Which firmware are you using? Is it from a different region than the one your phone came with?
I'm having real difficulties with my i9100P device, and would like some help as I'm getting frustrated with what should be an easy thing to do
The handset is 4.1.2 (O2 UK) and developer debugging is enabled.
When I try to flash Philz recovery (6.48) or TWRP (3.1.0 i9100) or Ganster IsoRec (3.1.0) Odin (3.12) starts the process fine, then comes up with:
Get PIT for mapping
Firmare update start
SingleDownload
recovery.img
FAIL!
Complete(Write) operation failed.
All threads completed (succeed 0 / failed 1)
I'm trying to install Slimrom 4.4.4
