Removal of new sneaky COVID menu and feature, is it possible? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi guys
i just noticed that google just sneaked in this new voice under the Google account settings, which is for COVID notifications. i am extremely upset, i don't want that so how can i get rid of that?
at the moment is all blank on my phone as well
do i need to root the phone? can we hack this please? this has gone to ridiculous levels.
or shall i remove Google OS completely and do one of those factory re-installations without google? takes some work but i saw that's possible.
many thanks,
Gab

Glad someone else besides me realizes how creepy this is. The kind of phone you have determines how easily you'll find alternative software. But if you have the means, time and the computer hardware, you can create your own build server.
You'll just need to locate the blobs for your device.

I don't see this anywhere in Google account settings on SG S10. Could this be regional?

No pops yet in USA on unlocked S10 currently on AT&T.

microg installed with nanodroid (or lineage.microg.org / build micro by u) does the job very well.
Of course.. bootloader needs to be unlocked.

If I find away to get this permanently removed I will share later.

Different manufacturers have different policies. The blobs allow the phone's hardware to talk to the software you build in Android Studio or another build server.
I know that Sony and HTC are very friendly to forks, but Verizon and AT&T are historically hostile. For example, despite five years passing, my M8 is still supported by the LineageOS project.

There might be a silver lining to all the abandoned phones that are usually not updated to coax customers into buying more expensive phones. They won't be pushing updates to them, and if they do, the motivation is that much clearer.
I'm currently borrowing my classmates' Aristo 2 as my m8 is being repaired. You can't shake any tracking software if it has a persistence module, which Play Services had when I booted this thing.
I had to go into sixteen different built in apps and disable everything from usage and notification access, to background data, radio access and the like. I did get an update, but it was from 2018. I turned automatic updates off in Developer Options.
I'll say, the Optimus UI has actually improved since I last used it. It's even faster when you turn off every Google app. My battery life on this device is even better than my old one, which I could squeeze a day out of. This one? At least two.
I don't recommend what I did to anyone. It requires sacrifices.

Can't make no promisses! But for now it looks like it does. But to me it feels like, the gapps slowly
start to "mail function". Means, maps doesn't work so well anymore. I couldn't save an address yesterday.
Gmail doesn't give me notifications, both take sometimes VERY long to load, and gmail even poped up
a message that there is something wrong with the play services. But this was so quick, I couldn't even knock
the display.
If you want to dig a bit deeper, extract the AndroidManifest.xml from the google play services and look for
"exposurenotification".

The only way to get rid of it is to delete Google Play Services (com.android.google.gms). That's how they snuck it in. On Android Pie it's simple. Just debloat via ADB using pm list packages prompt and voila! it's gone. On Android 10 it works the same EXCEPT none of the google apps, firefox, instacart, or anything like that will WORK. So you can de-google all you want - they've baked it into everything. It's something I'm struggling with now since I was forced to upgrade.

They don't have to coax you to upgrade. All the companies are about to shut off old phones and force customers to upgrade to 5G. TMO store managers said end of the year if their people aren't on 5G they won't have service. Same with ATT. You can google it - they say it's for 3G phones but it's a lie. They are planning on taking all our free, unlocked, and functional phones off their network for this Android 10 Dynamic Partition R/O crap that teases root at you but doesn't let you do nothing.

hi - mine is still running OK and without it, a part on maps to be honest where you see the C19 layer and updates which are so intrusive, etc ,just to remind us every single day, what a crap..., i think i blocked play services updates, something like that.
i have a s8 on android 9 - you get the random notification that like "sheets will not work if you don't update play services". but ignore that and it works, disabled notifications and voilà. not sure they will still sneak in this crap.
I am not doing any of the samsung updates since 6 months. bit of drawback for the security updates but whatever...

Yes, you can delete Google Play Services on Pie and it will work easy peasy. On Android 10, once you delete Google Play Services and you reboot the phone you cannot send text messages, use instacart, use firefox- it blocks ALL functionality of apps.

Android Firewall (Droidwall successor)

Good news, Droidwall development has been picked up by a new dev. It's now called Android Firewall, and yes it works on 4.0 and higher--something Droidwall did not support.
It's open source and worth checking out.

No, this is just a firewall/iptables. For further protection, like blocking certain apps from getting specific permissions, there are apps like pdroid, LBE, etc.

Thanks, I have been looking for one like that but I kept getting firewalls. I noticed firewall is simply blocking/allowing wifi/3g-4g data access. I iwll check those apps you mentioned, there is no reason why angry birds should have access to phone data.. I wonder if any one of those apps actually replace the phone data so the app/game itself does not FC when it cannot access the data it needs (my caller ID data.. )
Rom toolbox has an auto start function that tells you how many receivers an app has at startup and lets you disable them not sure if that's what your looking for or not
don't be scared it's only a phone

Hi, I use normal home wifi, and mobile wifi with DATA PLAN when I'm out, is there a way to setup different access restriction for each one???
That is different settings for: DATA / WIFI xxx / WIFI yyy, or just treats certain WIFI Hotspots as Mobile Data like in some new JellyBean Data restriction

Xposed is getting a lot of attention, are they on the track to be the next CM of Android community? Possibly.
I am curious, does it actually stop these apps from trying to get data or just deny access but they keep trying. And if they keep trying when they don't get what they want, will that have any impact on battery life?

First I had DroidWall and that was abandoned, now I have Android Firewall and that is abandoned. I think I'll look for a firewall that has been around for a long time, it has less chance of turning into abandonware.

Seriously, have you not read this thread?
First, there was DroidWall, which was unceremoniously discontinued and not fit for use for any Android OS past Gingerbread.
Next, the same developer launched Android Firewall. Not only did the developer also discontinue this firewall and drop it from Google Play without notice, but it appears Android Firewall now lets ads through! Note that this does not happen if you block Android Firewall in Android Firewall, so it might be that the developer deliberately modified the firewall to let ads through - someone with more knowledge would have to verify this.
Now, the same developer has released AFWall+. I'm sorry but I can't trust a firewall from a developer that has a history of abandoning their apps, especially a security app.
In each case, the developer went dark.
So now many are looking for a firewall that has been supported for a long time, and we are willing to pay for it. I don't think we are being unreasonable here, I appreciate the work that developers have done for the community but would be respectful of users if the app was discontinued with some notice and explanation, rather than leaving users vulnerable.

Same developer ? get you stats right. DroidWall was developed by Rodrigo and sold it to Avast
There were two forks of Droidwall after that.
1. AFWall+ by me
2. Android Firewall by "Jason Tschohl"
AFWall+ is still active and currently in BETA to support Lollipop. You can see that in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1957231

[App Studio] US Carrier Apps

This is similar to my OEM apps, but for the four major Mobile Operators in the US: AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, and T-Mobile.
This was built using Windows Phone App Studio, so this can be downloaded directly onto your phone without the use of a deployment tool.
NOTE for old V1 and V2.0 Users: I'm no longer offering the installation links for the App Studio deployment method. Please use the store version if you wish to continue to receive updates.
Source is untouched and attached.
App8.zip is the source for Windows Phone 8.0
App-New.zip is the source for Windows 8.1 (Modern UI mode) and Windows Phone 8.1.

The V1 edition was made on November 8, 2013.
The V2 edition is complete as of Christmas Day, 2013!
I began attempting to publish on January 10, 2014.
The app was released in the Windows Phone Store/Marketplace on February 19, 2014!
The V2.1 edition added images for the apps and Verizon's new "Tones" app.
Windows Phone 8.1 Support was added June 24, 2014.

You can check the Verizon one pretty easy. They were posted almost everywhere while Spartan Assault was still exclusive.
Sent from my RM-860 using Tapatalk
If anyone has devices from these carriers, please let me know if your phone shipped with some carrier locked apps. I have Verizon and Sprint's list complete, but AT&T was something I tried quick to get working and have something in place, while I have nothing for T-Mobile. So if you have a T-Mobile device, then please post links to the store link for your apps!
EDIT: Nevermind, I went out and bought these devices to get the app-ids, also to hack, but its still annoying that they are hidden from the store...
UPDATE!!!!
I've updated the app to include all of AT&T's apps.
OEM ID's Confirmed so far.... for fiddler or another proxy tool.
VZW-US (Verizon Wireless)
ATT-US (AT&T)
TMO-US (T-Mobile USA)
null (some Sprint apps)
T-Mobile USA's apps have now been added!!! The only issue with it is that they are listed as unpublished, but that might be controlled based on the SIM... "My Account" should be install-able on any Windows Phone that has a T-Mobile SIM in it.
Also hoping to redo this entire app to directly launch the store instead of launching the web browser to launch the store (which requires logging into.) EDIT: DONE!
I fixed some problems with several URLs that nobody had noticed yet. I also cleaned it up a bit, so let me know if you notice anything broken!
EDIT: Apparently I also have some URLs pointing to the wrong app. It will be fixed soon!
EDIT 2: Everything is done except the images. I guess I'm close to publishing once I can think of a name for it and a half decent image for the app, tiles and the loading screen it will be finalized.
I have yet to determine if I want to add advertising to the store version or not, while removing the $.99 charge. It depends on if I ever get any feedback on this app....
Okay.... I submitted the app to the store, but since it was a pain in the @SS making this app, requiring me to purchase a Lumia 520, Lumia 521, and an HTC 8XT. I've made the app $.99. All of those who have installed this with the App Studio method can still do so, and they won't have to deal with paying for it. I'll make it free in the store once I have recouped some of my costs, or if no one ends up downloading it.
Moved to OP
I've updated the app to V2.1, because Verizon launched a new ringtones+ringback app, and I went ahead and added images to the app instead of looking at those terrible low-res bullet points.
Please rate my app! I've only had TWO DOWNLOADS from the store since I had launched it, and the way publishing works I won't see any money for a long while.
I've thought about reworking the logo to be of the four carriers, but nobody has said anything! I'm still waiting for at least a review. I'm going to make the app free, as I still haven't got any downloads and trying to recoup costs was a lost cause. Just means that I'll add advertisements eventually to the store edition.

I just snatched it up, amd by coincidence snatched fiddler earlier today to check out some stuff. All the links I've checked are good so far. I'll fire it up later and report back.
Thanks man!!
Hey everyone, just thought I'd pop my head back in. The app was updated for Windows Phone 8.1 support on 6/24/2014 and now I've seen anywhere from 1 download per day to 3. I have a total of 127 downloads and in 22 different countries, after all, a niche app is a niche app.
Oh, also a note, WiFi Calling only works on T-Mobile Phones (their Lumia 521 or the new 635) due to a things needing to be baked into the ROM.
I'll be updating the app, because AT&T added a new app, called AT&T Connect.
Ranking (downloads per country)
US has 86 downloads.

It would actually be Really Cool to be able to bake that driver (for WiFi calling) into a custom ROM, but sadly that's probably not really practical with the limited amount of ROM editing we can do right now. Doing it at runtime requires *adding* registry keys, which is (annoyingly) a lot harder than just editing them... although it may be possible to get it working by cannibalizing some other driver or service that we don't care about. In any case, I don't even know if the signature on it will be tolerated by non-TMoUS phones.
I think the only solution for the time being is to wait for someone to leak the tools for creating a ROM. We could essentially take the precompiled binaries and just add an extra superpackage for stuff we might want and release it into the wild, but I'm pretty sure they track those things pretty well.... If one slipped they'd revoke their SSL certificate.
Crap, MS removed the Windows 8.1 Store app, that I was testing. They claimed that it violated the ToS. Oh well, all the app did was launch Zune anyways!
2.1.2 Update!
New version is out. I've added a few new apps, but due to a change in the App Studio, they must be launched via URL and bit.ly. The store URLs are too long to enter now and the old ones can't be changed. I attempted to modify them a bit playing with Visual Studio, but to no avail. Starts complaining about the built-in advertisement framework stuff which is disabled by default and still unmodified.

Hello folks!
I've ran into an issue with Microsoft. Due to an issue I had previously with the Windows 8.1 Desktop app, and windowsphone.com being merged, I am no longer able to update the app. I can post status updates in the app, but beyond that I can't do much except to offer the source and manual deployment offerings again. Let me know what you guys think.

Thanks for your efforts. It's pretty great. Only real issue I'm having is that the app will crash twice in a row after 5-10 mins, I assume due to the fact my device only has 1GB of RAM.
Just to clarify, the auto capture and auto collect modes, you log in using the account you're using or a throwaway account? How does it work while not being in the app?

Either way. I wouldn't recommend using auto mode when actually running the game *yet* since I haven't added the realtime GPS code. It is a secret as to how it works, but it connects to the game directly from the app.
I run the auto capture in KO, then typically just click wherever I stop and go into the game to do stuff like evolving and inventory management, which are too variable to automate (see every bot thread and the complaints about how they recycle) and don't require being in a specific location anyway.
Gym battles require the app, though, so there's also that.
Version 1.9
Fix Google authentication and token storage
User friendly capture / collect dialog options
Support for favorites and transfer weakest
Improvements to artificial movement timeout
Version 2.0
Fix refreshing Google token after initial login
Allow canceling auto capture / collect mode
Sort Pokemon and Pokestops by distance
Add server status when presenting login error
Convert login activity to floating dialog box
Great work sir great app much above other apps of this category magical!!!!!!!
Dedicated developer daily giving updates. I used before 5 hrs and I couldn't leave it.. You are doing a great job... (just for commenting on this thread I created xda account I didn't want to give guest reply on your hardwork. And just one suggestion when I sign in for first time it works via Google but next time give server unavailable
google login
tested on android 5.1 and 6.0 (two devices). both failed to login for google account, the keyboard for the google authentication doesn't pop up so i cant input any acc details at all :/
I have to say that im such a huge fan of your work, been using it since v 1.6 and fell in love even more in each update.
But there are several things i need to ask you (please do consider it as pure simple question, no intention of criticize your work)
- how does the auto catch work exactly? In some cases, during auto training mode, the map shows several pokemons appearing nearby (e.g. ratata n tentacool ) but when i log into the game in the exact same location, there are several other pokemon that didnt show up in your app's map. And it seems those that showed up and captured around my location, wont refresh or increase unless i re-open the app and pinpoint my location exactly like before. Can you explain it a bit futher? Thanks
- your current work has already supported razzberry use to catch pokemon, how abt when i set my location ned pokestops with lure module and or i use lucky egg/incense, will it affect too? Thanks a lot.

Really nice app!! Is their a way to make the auto capture work like the auto collect?
As I'm finding that it will only collect 3 pokemon until I re position myself and start again and solution?

Auto capture goes after the ones that will be a capture by default. It doesn't go to ones that will take multiple tries and waste a lot of inventory.
Support for lures will be added. It is a little unusual how they have the server configured, so it was unclear whether those pokemon were also considered capturable. It appears they may be considered lured pokemon exclusively.
nooo! it doesnt work for me [emoji24]

I cant seem to choose your app as the Mock Location App in MM.
Every time i click it it just chooses the next app in the list rather then your app. MM does not have the "enable mock location" setting, you have to actually point it to a mock location app you want to use.

Really simple to use privacy manager for Android 6.0 Marshmallow and later (successor of XPrivacy).
Revoking Android permissions from apps often let apps crash or malfunction. XPrivacyLua solves this by feeding apps fake data instead of real data.
Features:
Simple to use
Manage any user or system app
Extensible
Multi-user support
Free and open source
See here for all details, including installation instructions and download link.
Please read the frequently asked questions before asking a question.
This XDA thread is about using the latest version of XPrivacyLua. Off topic comments are allowed as long they are related to XPrivacyLua and are in the general interest of the followers of this thread, but anything not related to privacy is not allowed.
If XPrivacyLua doesn't work and/or when "module not running or updated" is shown, this is almost always caused by an Xposed problem.
Discussions about purchases are not allowed here, please contact me via here instead.
XPrivacyLua is being maintained and community supported, but new features won't be added anymore.
Custom hook definitions will always be part of XPrivacyLua, but there will be community support only. This means that I won't respond to questions about defining custom hooks anymore. See this thread for the reasons.
If you value your privacy, please consider to support this project with a donation or by purchasing pro features.
M66B said:
XPrivacyLua is not a permission manager, but a privacy manager. XPrivacyLua doesn't block things and doesn't revoke permissions, but does replace real data by fake data. This means you can grant Android permissions to an app and still let XPrivacyLua prevent the app from seeing privacy sensitive data. Revoking permissions can result in an app refusing to work and/or to crash. However, replacing real by fake data generally doesn't let an app crash.
Currently restrictions are quite crude because they mostly replace real data by no data. For example restricting the contacts app from getting contacts will result in an empty contact list. In the near future it might be made possible to select the data an app may see, for example just one group of contacts.

The goal is to have a tool that can properly protect the privacy of many in the near future. However, it isn't paid work, so I do whatever I like whenever I like it.
You can request features in this XDA forum. I will read them, but I will not respond to them and they might or might not be implemented. If I know for sure something will not be implemented, I will let you know.
You can report any problem you have here. There will be no issue tracker on GitHub.

For now I have decided to not implement restrictions that are useful to prevent tracking only. There are simply too many data items that can be used for tracking and it would take too much time to develop restrictions for all these data items.
The basic idea is to restrict only things that 'define' you, so which contacts you have, where you are, which apps you use, etc.

Maybe we can widen the definition of things that the core of XPL covers to "What defines you, and what can be used to spie on you"? This would include camera/audio, but not tracking.

XPrivacyLua is pretty feature complete and will be maintained and supported and when there is a need new hook definitions will be added to better protect your privacy. For the rest this FAQ applies:

As said before, development will also depend on Xposed development, which is just minimal unfortunately.

Even if old Xprivacy isn't supported on nougat, is it possible to keep it with new Lua too until Lua grow up? Or it is not recommended ?

Noooo! First post and it is asking about using Xprivacy on Nougat? That must be demotivating to the dev! It has been told too many times in the xprivacy thread that it is not recommended to use it on Nougat and above all IT IS NOT SUPPORTED!
Sorry for using capitals but let's hope everyone sees it and this thread stays on new Lua topic.
Greetings.
Wow, I was just scrolling through some stuff, stumbled into your repo for XPrivacy/Lua and couldn't believe what I saw! M66B is developing a new app as a replacement for XPrivacy... Thank you so much, you've totally made my day and pobably quite some time into the future as well! I'll definetely also buy/donate for this version as soon as I get to use it.
Just some technical questions:
Looks like you are going more modular with this new app, and you mentioned something about downloading additional (user-made) hooks. You also said you'd keep it much more simple this time to avoid high maintenance etc. Could these external hooks then allow to get the complexity back? I totally understand your motivation, but in-depth restricting of app permissions was something I really liked about the old XPrivacy, and if some user-made hooks would make that possible I'd use them. But they'd also need the ability to add new UI elements, and not just "This hook is about the method XY, execute this code before/after to block it and this code to enable it" for that to be possible.

For now I will concentrate on fixing bugs and building restrictions, which is of course the most important of all. Restrictions are indeed defined and written in Lua. Currently all restrictions are built-in, but later I might add a manager, so you can manage your own definitions. There might even be a repository, which could even contain definition for things not privacy related.
You can find the current definitions here (hooks.json contains the definitions).
Just donated. More to follow along the way. Thank you!!

Glad to see Xposed Module development is still alive!
Thx a lot for building and developing this app.
After I've selected some apps I get an error:
XLua.Main:android.os.DeadObjectException:Transaction failed on small parcel; remote process probably died
Things that I would appreciate in future releases:
- More restriction-types like: Network connection, Telephone number/sim-operator, Serialnumber, installed apps/services, accounts
- Is it possible to hide disabled apps from the list?
- Is it possible to decide when an app will request for example the location to allow or deny the request?

Disabled apps are hidden from the list by default.
First: thanks for the release and minimal UI of this app.
Just one request if it is possible. Would it be possible when you start ironing out the features to include a randomisation to some privacy information. Like my main coordinates for GPS are 33N 112W. If the app could randomise the rest so the app knows my general location but not accurately as 1m?
Edit: a good reason for this is for apps like speedtest.net. it grabs GPS to find a close server. When I restrict, closes server is in NY. I don't mind if it knows I live in AZ, heck, XDA knows I live here, but knowing my exact location is bothering.

The error occurs every second time I open the app and it's shown in the bottom of the app. In the Xposed log there isn't a XLua-Error.

Thank you for your answer, but I'm still kinda missing what I wanted to know: Could hooks potentially add custom UI and/or save data? I'd imagine something like saving a list of contacts and when an app requests the contact list selecting this specific list to be returned.

Yes, that would be possible. When there is a need, I will add APIs that can be used in Lua to save data in a structured way into the XPrivacyLua database, so anyone wanting to develop a new hook definition doesn't have to worry about how to do this. In fact this has already been prepared.

Oh okay, thanks. So I can't use the current XPrivacy (on the PlayStore) on Nougat S8? I hope I can if not, I'll wait for the XPrivacy L.
It's crazy that Android forces privacy breaching (violation is an accurate word use) "services", processes and apps at it's core. If I were to learn to use Android enough is it possible to prevent it, like it's the case on iPhone, well in appareances because when you jailbreak it you can see all the processes, but it's clearly not in completely forcing this violation of your data, be it just with the permission management that NO apps can require or force on you to run, which to me absolutely crazy that it's the case on Android.

What you could do, at least that's what I do, is to disable services (look for DisableService in PlayStore) and/or restrict as much as possible via the privacy settings (depending on ROM). For example I deny Google services the location rights and only switch them on when needed.
Also there are possibilities to run your phone without any Google services at all. Search for MicroG.
But you have to understand, that using an Android device is going to violate privacy in one form or another. Same goes with Windows and Apple devices...
I don't like it at all but that's just what the world has become. If you want to use Google Services you kinda have to accept that you can't (at least not with simple fixes) protect your whole privacy. It sucks, but that's just what it is...

[APP] Pay Enabler (Google Pay on Oreo outside US/UK/ES/AU/CA etc.)

Android Pay stopped being officially supported/working on Android Wear (starting with the Oreo update) outside US/UK: https://www.androidpolice.com/2018/...ate-disables-android-pay-users-outside-us-uk/ and https://support.google.com/androidwear/thread/26579
I created small proof of concept app that streamlines launching/enabling of Android Pay so even with it disabled, it will only take up to two additional taps to pay with Android Pay:
Launch "Pay Enabler" (instead of Android Pay). If Android Pay is already enabled, Pay Enabler will just launch it directly.
Tap "Enable" (not needed since version 5, requires Accessibility service)
Tap "Open" (not needed since version 4)
Note 1: Google started geo blocking Google Pay on Wear OS H (Android Pie/9) so Pay Enabler doesn't work on newest firmwares. It still works on Oreo.
Note 2: When connected to iOS, Play Store requires standalone connectivity (WiFi or cellular data) for enabling as it doesn't use caches (unlike when paired with Android).

Update 2018/11/19:
Uploaded Pay Enabler version 5 here to XDA (not on Play Store, yet). It uses Accessibility service to automate enabling of Google Pay, no more tapping "Enable". (Source is also available on Github.)
Requires manual enabling in "Settings -> Accessibility -> Pay Enabler".
Works only with English - texts "Google Pay" and "Enable". Post texts in your languages and I will include them (That shouldn't be necessary as of version 5d which supports two dozens of languages - at least for the "Enable" button).
Accessibility service is registered only for Play Store so it shouldn't cause basically any battery drain (as it doesn't poll anything)
Update 2018/11/29:
Version 5 submitted to the Play Store.
Update 2018/12/16:
Version 6 fixes detection of the enable button in some non English languages (cs, fi, hi, ko, th).
For me I have no issue yet, never got 8.0 and I do not want it.
I bought this watch for Android Pay and it has worked fine since May 2017.
Even though I hate Samsung for abandoning Android Wear, I maybe forced in time to try Samsung Pay; I know my Canadian Bank supports Samsung Pay.
Anybody have any clue why Android Pay on the Android Wear watch only works in the US, UK when other countries support it ?

This app is a good solution until Google finally fixes. Thank you!

Android Pay stopped being officially supported/working on Android Wear (starting with the Oreo update) outside US/UK: https://www.androidpolice.com/2018/...ate-disables-android-pay-users-outside-us-uk/ and https://support.google.com/androidwear/thread/26579
I didn't test it myself (yet, I'm still on Nougat) but based on user reports, Android Pay is only getting disabled (by Google Play services?). It is reported that payments are still working if it's manually enabled.
Based on this, I created small proof of concept app that streamlines launching/enabling of Android Pay so even with it disabled, it will only take two additional taps to pay with Android Pay:
Launch "Pay Enabler" (instead of Android Pay). If Android Pay is already enabled, Pay Enabler will just launch it directly.
Tap "Enable"
Tap "Open"
Version 1 vs Version 3
It was reported to me that Android Pay doesn't show up in Settings (list of installed apps) so since version 2 it uses Play Store for manual enabling. (I will try if I can open the app manually from background once enabled to save the second click to "Open").

My friend, if you find a way to enable android pay on the wear24 i'll get a lot of money, you can sell a app to do this, there's a lot of people looking for it include me! The wear24 is very cheap on ebay, by without android pay is a little useless.

Im in Australia, Google play store says my device is not compatible with this app.
Downloaded the version 1 and 3 apk, but upon installing it says there is a problem with parsing the package.
Help?

The app is compatible only with Android Wear devices running Android Oreo. You must either select your watch when installing from web or search for Pay Enabler in Play Store directly on your watch. It's standalone app for Android Wear and nothing gets installed elsewhere.

Ah, ok. Got it. No worries it works. Than you very much from Australia.[COLOR="Silver"
Just to be clear, this will not work on nougat?
Because as mentioned before it would be great if this brought android pay to the wear24. Verizon's videos show the watch with the android pay app so its obviously a possibility.
Thanks

Thank you OP, it works! I wish Google would fix this or just re-enable.
And how does Samsung Pay on Gear (watch) devices work? I heard it doesn't unless you hack it hard.

Really do I need to spell it out ?
If I am forced to use a Gear I would need to dump "Google" Pay and use Samsung Pay.
But for now my watch has not been upgraded to Oreo works fine, I will never upgrade to Oreo as my first choice.
If I have to in time go to Oreo and have the same issue everybody outside of the UK, and US has I will do two things get annoyed at the arrogance of Google "hey we do not care if you been using Android Pay now Google Pay for months, we will stop you" then I will install the Pay Enabler.
The chances are I will never be forced to by a Gear, though new watches with NFC have not been released.
I'm using it since yesterday and it is so much helpful. Thank you so much!
They added 3 more countries but there are still 14 more countries affected.
To use Google Pay on your watch, you need to: Be in the US, UK, Spain, Australia, or Canada.

Is there any way to emulate being in the US from the watch? I get to the download page with the app, but can't download it as it "is not available in my country". Any way to bypass this?

Had the same problem. A long time ago I had created a Google Account via US VPN. Now I added this as a second account on the watch and selected the account in the play store and it works.
I hope it still works like this.
It's not just Android Wear
Will your fix also work on "regular" Android 8.1 on a smartphone? I have the same issue with Google Pay on my Nexus 5x, as I now live in Hungary.
In my case, the "back-end" part of Google Pay continues to work, and I can make payments at contactless terminals using my installed credit or debit cards. But the "front-end" user interface part is disabled just as described here. If I need to change the payment card used for a transaction (or add or remove a card) it's a real pain in the ass to enable the app.
Ironically, the availability of contactless payment terminals in Hungary is excellent, while in the US they almost don't exist.
From the little research I've done on the internet, there are lots of people with Google Pay on smartphones facing the same issue, and so you might want to consider a version of your fix for the rest of us!

As Hungary is not a country supported by Google Pay, are you using your payment card that was issued by US bank? I'm curious to know what is Google Pay policy on using it abroad (as on vacation or expat) - I thought the bank requirement was only for setup/card linking. (I understand you're talking about frontend vs backend as all card data and emulation is done by Google Play services)
Anyway, you should be able to use the attached apk in the first post.

Yes, all my cards are from US banks. Although I now live abroad, all my banking/finance is still US-based. I've been using Android Pay and no Google Pay for about a year without any issues from either Google or my banks. My banks are fully aware of my situation and have been really great about shipping new credit and debit cards to Hungary.
There are rare occasions where the terminal has some issue with the phone emulation, but mostly using the phone is the fastest way to pay, as the fingerprint authentication to unlock the phone eliminates the need to enter any PIN. Interestingly, as all US chip cards are non-PIN and require a signature, when using the phone to pay, I also don't need to sign any slips. The two-factor authentication does all the work.
I'll download the apk and give it a try. Thanks!

My bad. It only works the other way (phone apps work on Wear). Please see the first post again for "-phone" version.
