3.5mm Audio Jack Quality - Redmi Note 9S / Note 9 Pro (Indian Model) Question

Hi all,
How is the quality for the 3.5mm Audio Jack?
I've had a Zenfone 2 for a few years now and my earphones sound awesome with it. I need another dual SIM + MicroSD slot phone. Zenfone 6 is too expensive so I am considering the Note 9 S instead but music from the earphone jack is VERY important.
Help me out please.
Thanks!

Sound quality is good but volume is rather low. Apparently MIUI have a problem with the volume. I tested bluetooth audio (with Sony WH-1000XM3 headphones) and is almost unlistenable, very very low volume. I also tested wired headphones plugged to jack, and the volume show a little improvement, but is noticeable lower than my previous Xiaomi Mi A1. I also tested the Note 9S with USB DAC+Amp, Hidizs Sonata HD. Again, there is an improvement over jack or bluetooth, but noticeable low than other devices (at half media volume). I think is a MIUI issue and not device-dependent, because I tested a Redmi Note 8 and showed the same issues (at least with BT headphones)
Currently I don't recommend the Redmi Note 9S for listening to music, until Xiaomi releases a fix.

Just to confirm that on my 9S (Global Rom 11.0.8) the music volume on the 3.5 jack is a little bit low for my liking, it could do with being a few notches louder.
I also have the Sony bluetooth headphones WH 1000XM3. The volume and quality is very good on Bluetooth. Very loud and excellent quality.
Just wondering xsam123 in the above post - is your volume set to Max on the headphone touch panel? We also have a redmi note 8pro in the household, the BT volume is very good on that phone too.

Here is the perfect solution for breath taking sound in Redmi note 9 prom
In MIUI OS Sound quality is very bad.
So I always change MIUI with AOSP rom via Custom recovery.
After coming to AOSP, We can install modules named as "Ainur Narsil"
After this module, You will get Sound quality like flagship model.
Enjoy!!

[Redmi note 3 Pro SD650] Audio quality through headphones

I'm thinking about this phone but can't find any info about used audio processor or just sound quality over headphones
Thanks for any help
The RN3 Pro uses the DAC/AMP DSP combination built into the Snapdragon 650 SoC at hardware level coupled with Snapdragon Audio+ processing at software level.
It doesn't have a dedicated audio chip.

Thanks for reply SharkcpN, i'll digg about thisbuilt in DAC,
anyone has experience with audio quality over headphones?
Just flash Viper4Android - instant eargasm
and i will... still i'm choosing between LG G4 and X RN3 Pro, and as far as i can read about LG G4 soud quality, i can't find anything about xiaomi. None of my friend using it so i can't hear for myself.
del
As per Qualcomm it used Qualcomm Hexagon DSP + Qualcomm Immersive Audio if you are rooted the VIPER4ANDROID is the best choice..
I'm using RMN3 SD with VIPER4ANDROID, the sound quality over earphone is excellent..
use google play music there u can tweak snapdragon plus equalizer set surround sound at MAX 100% ,set Reverb to small room then go to setting and switch on MI sound enhancer only then u will feel the real output via headphone jack
Default equalizer is very good, I havea really nice sound with my xiaomi piston 3
Anyone tried messing with mixer_paths.xml?

Sound/Audio quality from headphone jack

Hi all,
I searched through a lot of forums and video reviews but couldn't see anyone doing a clear review of the quality of sound from the headphone jack.
I'm considering getting the F1 to replace my Axon 7 so wondering if the sound quality will be much worse?
If you can compare it with Axon 7 it would be great.
I knew about the GSMarena test of audio quality but that may not be the same in real life. Also it seems that the phone didn't utilise the Snapdragon 845 chip's audio capability which should be better than older phones.
Thanks
Anyone?
I don't know why people ask this question on every phone's page? IF there is no dedicated hardware used for audio it will should sound same as all SD SOCs. You can try all kinds of fancy software optimisations and equalizers it doesn't matter as long as the audio hardware is the same.
For answering your question in particular, IIRC Axon 7 has dedicated AKM 4490en for processing audio signal which is top notch. So NO Poco or any other phone with SD SOC audio is not even come close in audio quality for that matter. And since we are there take my advice and don't sell that phone(AXON 7). For it's audio capabilities you can take out the sim and can use it as a Android DAP for as long as it can serve you. A simple android DAP sells for quite a bit. I was myself very interested in this phone for audio but since it was not available in my country I went for LG V20 which I sold 2 weeks back.
I haven't had the pleasure to try the Axon 7 before, but I have used the HTC 10. The amp on this thing is weak,on my IEMs I had to crank it up to around 60-70% to get to my usual volume. Compared to a HTC U11 dongle (with DAC in it) that I have around, the dongle simply sounds better.
With all of that said, the fact that the headphone jack is there is still very much appreciated.
The headphone lacks depth and bass though it can improved through through Mi Sound Enhancer but still won't be somewhere near phones with built-in DAC.
We can hope for upcoming Dolby support soon.
I read a lot of threads back when the Poco F1 was released and a lot of people complained about low volume of audio output from headphone jack and low clarity.
It is very hard to compare audio quality if you dont have 2 devices side by side.
So I request people who have the Poco F1 and some other phone like the Redmi Note Pro, Moto, Nokia etc to compare the volume and audio clarity.
If you have MIUI device use the same audio settings.
Can anyone please do this?
Edit: Sorry for double post. Thread was not showing up so I replied here.
I have Axon 7 and POCO F1. I think that quality on Poco is great. When i used earphones with my axon 7 with low impedance (KZ ZS6 - 16 ohm) i heard hiss when i turned wifi on... On poco F1 i dont have any problemes and quality for source Tidal (HIFI),Spotify (Premium), Youtube Music is very good. (headphone - beyredynamic COP) . In next days i will have external dac SMSL IDEA. I will try compare sound quality between poco inernal dac and my new external dac.
+ Dolby is very very bad. On axon it was first thing that i turned off. Viper FX is best.

What about the volume? Is it high enough?

Duude, we have the same IEM, KZ ZS6. Poco does create a static noise in a specific situation (can only be heard when nothing is playing):
1. Enable tap to wake.
2. Don't play any audio with Poco.
3. Connect your IEM.
4. Lock the phone or just manually turn-off the display.
5. Rest your whole hand on the LCD, you'll hear a static noise and mine was prominent on the left channel. I noticed that the static noise is stronger when the LCD is turned-off.
How did I find it?
Since fingerprint cannot be disabled, I always place my Poco in my pocket with the LCD facing my leg and I always hear static noise every sone transition.
I disabled double tap to wake due to this.
Weird interaction. lol.

Yes, on my Beyerdynamic COP I need set volume to 40-50% for comfortable listening (Spotify). I think with all IEMs or over ear headphone to 64 ohm you will not have problem.

Funny. On poco I don't have problem with kz zs6, but on axon 7 it was really bad when I heard static noise from WiFi... I think that Kz zs6 are very sensitive headphones

audio power output

hello guys so i'm facing a little issue just bought new over ear headphones for use with my xiaomi mi 8 but the volume does not seem to get loud enough so my phone can drive these headphone properly due to not enough power being supplied to HS , so i was wondering if there is some kind of mod to increase output though type c port and i don't mean EQ like v4a and else
Use a pair of high-quality earbuds and /or a high-quality headphone to improve your Android device’s sound quality and volume.

audio quality in custom roms

i've noticed that audio quality is quite bad compared to my old redmi note 5 pro , every single audio devices tested always produce crackling sound on hinger volume, whether it is an earbud, earphone, tws bluetooth or my room bluetooth speaker where as my old phone almost have a perfect sound without any bugs
anyone has the same problem?

Question Sound volume minijack output?

I'm considering replacing my Xiaomi mi 11 ultra with a Sony Xperia 1 v.
I'm using a usb to minijack converter without DAC to feed my headphones. The volume and amp power is good on my Xiaomi. But on my previous phones the power was lacking and I had to use a dac-amp. How is it with the Sony phones? I read that the quality is good. But that is not gonna help me if the output volume is too low.
Most modern music is ok since it's recorded at high volume. But some older albums needs to be turned up to get the same volume.
What is your experience?
