A few tips for OTA updating after a first xiaomi.eu install:
1. Use the included Updater app.
2. Be patient. The screen will go black for quite a few seconds, just wait. Also, wait a few seconds at the MIUI logo.
3. Note there is no need to wipe or format data or any partition for OTA updates. The Updater app takes care of everything and no data is lost.
I managed to install xiaomi.eu MIUI 12 ROM, latest beta 20.5.28 on my Mi 9T. This is done in three basic steps:
1) Unlock the bootloader. Note that you don't need to wait 168 hours anymore, just use the Mi Unlock app and you can do it in a few minutes (requires a PC). Check the Mi Unlock app for detailed instructions. Link to Mi Unlock tool: https://xiaomitools.com/mi-unlock-tool-en/
2) Install TWRP latest version. Note that there is a trick here because if you reboot into recovery just after installing TWRP, the normal Mi recovery will overwrite TWRP. Instructions to avoid that are found on the TWRP website. Link to TWRP for Mi 9T / Redmi K20: https://dl.twrp.me/davinci/
Instructions to flash TWRP: https://twrp.me/xiaomi/xiaomimi9t.html
3) Flash xiaomi.eu ROM. Again there is a little trick here that you must format data partition with TWRP before flashing the xiaomi.eu ROM. I forgot to do that the first time around and got a TWRP bootloop, solved by recopying the xiaomi.eu img file using adb push and then reflashing the xiaomi.eu image. Again here the correct instructions are found in the xiaomi.eu website.

4) Definitely enjoying Dark Mode on MIUI 12! Try it!

xiaomi.eu has a forum specifically for bugs. I think it's just you. Solution: reflash stable MIUI 11 ROM, reset to factory settings, test sensors and incoming calls, and retry with another MIUI 12 ROM.

Just OTA updated to 20.6.4, it fixes a few small issues and for me, it's working fine as far as I can tell. :good:
On Titanium atm, and wondering whether I should try latest xiaomi.eu but had a few questions:
- How do you install v4a on Miui 12? Is it as easy as audio compatability patch, install driver, reboot?
- Can you just replace the stock gallery app with google photos? Will this open from Camera?
- Does xiaomi.eu come with vendor if I flash it? Currently have OSS vendor.
- Is it less laggy than the first beta release on davinci?
- How do you get the Global theme gallery?
- Can I flash, THEN wipe data before reboot?
- Is OTA supported with Orangefox?
Thanks for any answers.

I have unlocked, disabled encryption and rooted Pocophone using Magisk , then flashed a custom kernel.
If a new update comes in for Pocophone, I know that I cannot directly go flash the OTA update because it will cause bootloop or brick my device. What to do before updating from previous to latest with custom kernel and root? (e.g. MIUI 9 > MIUI 10)

If rooted and with TWRP, I would never recommend flashing via updater app.
I suggest you follow these steps to update the same way I did. I did this from 10.0.6 (oreo) to 10.1.3 (android pie)
1. DOWNLOAD THE ROM (either via updater or from xiaomi.eu, but if using updater, click install later, just let the zip download.
2. disable all MAGISK MODULES
3. reboot to recovery and flash the latest ROM
4. wipe cache and dalvik
5. FLASH latest FED from this post
6. Flash latest Magisk. Reboot
Again, make sure to follow these steps exactly so as not to mess anything up. Careful and

Omg yes! It was Error 7.. If stable rom shows same results. Time to plan B.
Plan B is to try another custom recovery that supports ota updates, ota survival, and disables the force encryption to the data partition.

My phone just got the android 9 update, I already had installed root with twrp on my device with android 8.0
So when I tried to re-root my phone I needed to reinstall the TWRP but it couldn't decrypt the data
I tried all of the posible solutions to this but nothing
I think that is the TWRP version that can't decrypt data in android 9.0
But in the web isn't any version that support the Mi 8 LIte with Android 9.0
Do I need to wait until someone update the TWRP version or what can I do?
Thanks in advance

You are upgrading now; for this you need to decrypt it for first time and probably every time that you switch from a miui to an AOSP rom. Be sure that your data partition is mounted and I guess you canĀ“t see the files under TWRP. Try first with this zip https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/universal-dm-verity-forceencrypt-t3817389
Stock Miui re-encrypt data on first boot after factory reset, so you need to flash Universal DM-Verity
I also need TWRP for pie.
Try this recovery, It has more features than TWRP https://sourceforge.net/projects/orangefox/files/test_builds/OrangeFox-R9.0-1-platina.zip/download

If you are using the wzsx150 3.2.3 twrp found under the ROM/recovery section, versions 0121 and 0212 are both supposed to be for Android 9. I haven't tried myself though, as I am still on 8.
I can confirm version 0212 does indeed decrypt data partition, making it mountable it inside TWRP. Of course phone's now running on official Android 9 MIUI 10, updated on Wednesday.
So heads up for anyone trying to use open gapps aroma installer. No recovery will install it. Tried batik, orange fox, perp, and wzsx150 twrp and all do the same. After all the selections when the actual installation starts the device reboots (installs nothing but does save setting options) back to recovery. All reboot options (system, fastboot, etc) all reboot back to recovery only holding power button will allow device to boot into system.

Any idea why is 0212 half the size of 0121, and the others for that matter (28MB vs 60MB).
I believe it's somehow compressed. If you open these files with something like 7zip you'll see the size is very close between the two.

I just went back from pixel experience, when i flashed through fastboot (flash_all.bat).
My device boot normally, begin install and after showing "find device storage corrupted your device is unsafe now" it reboots. Until i go again in fastboot mode.
I have this problem only with the stock rom, other custom roms (pixel exp, aosp ext, ion os) work well.
Plus xiaoMIflash doesnt recognize my phone, doesn't matter if i change usb port, reinstall drivers, change pc. It just give me "length cannot be less than zero" so i flash stock rom using the batch file flash_all.
Did someone had this issue? Should i wait for MIUI 11 and try to flash it?
Yes. Had the same issue.
Solution is
Install OrangeFox Recovery.
Clean Flash a custom rom first
Then clean flash MIUI rom.
Btw MIUI 11 is already out

9) Optional: Flash Magisk
Restart system
Enjoy
(Big thanks to deathhall)
For me Havoc Q works really well, also face unlock works with Havoc
Havoc specific bugs: SMS doesnt work with 4G, Gcam works only with the main lens and frontfacing lens
Havoc 3.6
Android Pie (9) Guide
How to flash these on the Mi Note 10?
1) Flash Orange Fox TWRP
2) Factory reset in TWRP / format Data!
4) Fastboot: fastboot --disable-verity --disable-verification flash vbmeta vbmeta.img
5) Download the ARM64-AB version of your desired rom
6) Flash AB system.img of your GSI in TWRP
7) Flash magisk
8) reboot
That worked for me with both GSIs
Lineage OS 16.0
HAVOC OS 2.9
Whats not working?
- Fingerprint (Needs custom overlay)
- Automatic Brightness (Needs custom overlay)
- Camera works fine, but Video seems a little bit weird
- NFC, but this can be fixed with a magisk module
NFC FIX
Kind of a fix for automatic brightness
Video fix
If you have weird notification sounds delete the SoundFX folder from /Vendor/lib and /Vendor/lib64
Framework-res.apk (Provided by ChriZer)
Great work my friend, hopefully these will be the stepping stones to development and we can get the ball rolling on more in the future!

Try with 11.0.12
Couldnt get either to actually boot, couldn't get any OTA's to actually flash with OrangeFox.
I flashed:
miui_TUCANAEEAGlobal_V11.0.11.0.PFDEUXM_9fa3ae20ce_9.0
then tried to flash:
miui-blockota-tucana_eea_global-V11.0.11.0.PFDEUXM-V11.0.12.0.PFDEUXM-ecf4ee46b2-9.0
and just get an error.
I tried following your steps written in the OP, but the BlockOTA fails to flash. Or if I just use a fresh install and Format data, and try to install the GSI's it rewrites the system to system_root and magisk won't install and it just bootloops.

Android 11 GSi is out can you give it a shot?
Status?
Is anybody using the LOS GSI as a daily driver?
If there is just the small amount of bugs like in the description, it might be fine for now. At least for me.
Or are there other small bugs 'not worth mentioning' ?
In another parallel thread 'Will there be a custom ROM?', two heros decided to work on our phone... I wish them the best!
Hi all, I have spent a good few weeks testing almost all Android 10 (Q) GSIs for tucana (our device). My findings are relatively positive and are as follows:
I got Pixel Experience as well as EvolutionX from @expressLukeGSI to boot and both seem to work with minimal bugs... The main bug I found was an audio bug commoly associated with GSIs; the audio sounds as if the device is underwater. A simple fix to this bug was flashing audiofix for GSIs.
I also got OxygenOS to boot from @erfanGSI as well as others but these had major bugs (e.g. device reboots automatically, immediately after connecting to WIFI).
Other Android Q GSIs that booted include LineageOS, CAOS, AOSP, Descendant as well as Havoc (from GSI page - Android Q Section - on Github). With regards to LineageOS, once rooted with magisk it will NOT boot.
Under Display Fingerprint does NOT work on any GSIs currently and Face Unlock only works on specific GSIs.
If you'd like more info on the GSIs I have tested or would like me to test further please don't hesitate to contact me via private message, I'll be glad to help wherever possible.

Sorry, I never saw the "imo" part of your reply.
That is correct, once again this is minor for me but maybe not for some. Although I can confirm that battery drain is significantly decreased when using GSIs. Even without the auto brightness battery life is much better.
I am currently using/testing the Evolution X GSI from ExpressLukeGSI.

Yeah batterylife on GSIs is insane, maybe ill try one again. But the missing fingerprint and faceunlock bother me quite alot
BTW are you using Q GSIs?

Interesting, i cant get GSIs to boot, did you do something different?
Are you wiping Dalvik, System, Data and Cache, and then flashing the preferred GSI?
If the above method is not working, search "Download the MIUI 12 Closed Beta for Xiaomi and Redmi devices XDA" on google, download MIUI 12 beta for tucana/Mi Note 10 (our device) and flash it in TWRP. Then perform a wipe as usual and flash preferred GSI.

I was on MIUI 20.6.11 -MiRoom when I flashed the Bliss GSI, my exact steps where:
Flash Latest OrangeFox Recovery
Formata Data
Format dalvik and cache
Reboot to Recovery
Flash GSI -Arm64-AB or BvN depending on the owner
Go to Data in the manage partition menu and resize partition
Flash Opengapps, I used 10.0 Pico
Restart system
Admittedly, I flashed the GSI but not the gapps first, just to see if it would boot, which it did. then I formatted only cache and dalvik, then resized and flashed Gapps. and it booted and took me right into the setup from the notification that came up when it booted.

Soft Bricked
yes, had a soft brick. phone was only booting in to fastboot. so used the "XiaoMiTool v2" and recovered the phone with MIUI 12.0.3.0 and then downloded the ota update 12.0.5.0 and then updated to it via manual update. now not thinking of doing it again for a while , don't want to get the device bricked again.

How did you get your phone bricked?
By installing this update?
If yes did you use the latest twrp 3.4.0.0?
Did you wipe data/system before doing this?
Please give more detail so other users doesn't brick their devices

TWRP - Latest = Yes
Wipe - data/system = Yes
1) adb reboot fastboot
2) fastboot flash recovery twrp3.4.0.0....
3) fastboot reboot
4) held volume+ n Power
5) TWRP came
6) advance wipe - dalvik cache/system/data/cache
7) back to main menue
8) install - select storage - OTG
9) taped on the zip, slide to flash..
Everything went well successful.
10) reboot system -- came to fastboot, repeated the same step still fastboot
Please correct me if I've done anything wrong, this is the usual step I did to flash V12.xxx earlier.
Used XiaoMiTool V2 and recovered to 12.0.3.0.. and OTA update to 12.0.5.0..

I think unlike previous iterations, we don't wipe system partition with these Roms as long as the vendor is same. (Means, If within MIUI Roms, no need. likewise with others such as AOSP)

If your boot-loader is unlocked and have twrp, just FORMAT DATA, cache & Dalvik and flash the A11 Weekly Rom. Clean installation means formatting DATA partition and setting up as new.
I'm on weekly 20.09.17 and will be flashing the latest A11 weekly end of the day after work.
Edit: When you format DATA, your internal storage too would be wiped. So Make sure you have a PC (To mount twrp and copy the file) or OTG to push the Rom file to internal storage after formatting data.
