Hi so I know that if we use an app that takes a lot of memory right before going to the home screen, it redraws (for alt. launchers mostly). ive fixed THAT problem but I have a phone that has a portrait qwerty slider and even though it doesnt need to change orientation, the homescreen redraws and so it takes a good 10 secs until its ready any way to fix this?
Am i the only one who notices that the stock launcher when going between homescreens is not very smooth? I seem to have to move my finger about 2 inches before it starts "turning the page" as it were, and then its very jittery going between the screens. Has anyone else noticed this?
what can i do to fix it?
You shouldn't have to "move your finger" at all. Just touching the edges of the screen moves between the different home screens.
As for general sluggishness: What apps are you running? Are you using a live wallpaper? How many widgets do you have active? What power mode are you running?
I haven't had any severe jitter or sluggishness, but I found that certain live wall papers made my Prime noticeably slower when switching home screens. Certain widgets also made things sluggish. Since turning them off made things run smooth I can only assume that some downloadable widgets and wallpapers just aren't optimized very well.
Just reverted back to stock and its nice and smooth. will have to monitor what apps i install, widgets i use, etc. to see whats causing it.
I like sliding between screens instead of tapping the edges to flip pages... used to it from using my phone.
hopefully i can track down whats causing the lag i was experiencing.
As to the setup i had:
Asus weather widget
Asus task manager widget
Asus date widget
One page dedicated for games, like 20 shortcuts for games
one page dedicated for other apps, maybe 15-20 shortcuts to apps
always in performance mode, why bother reducing speed when the battery lasts longer than i need anyways?
How do I set up continuous scrolling ? I want to just scroll from one page of apps to the next without coming to the end and scrolling back. I know its probably in settings somewhere. Thanks
I'd like continuous scrolling of the homescreens and the app drawer, but there are no settings for this from what I've seen.
The Galaxy S 3 has them as continuous scrolling, but not the Note 2.
Only work around I can think of is to use a custom home screen/launcher app.
My V30 randomly gets laggy on the home screen but doesn't lag anywhere else. I tried enabling "Force GPU Rendering" and even tried closing all apps, and refreshing the ram. The only way to fix it is to reboot the phone, until it happens again later on. I'm not rooted, my AT&T Variant doesn't have root available, and I haven't downloaded any sketchy apps.
What widgets/apps are on your home screen? Are you using the default launcher or something else (i.e. Nova, Action, Microsoft...). What is your background set to (static picture, live wallpaper, custom)?

Clock widget, Google Widget, and a ram bar that lets me refresh it when i close an app, however i tried removing each widget one at a time, and then all of them and it didnt solve it.
As for the launcher, I've been using Evie Launcher since i had a V20. Because it's easy to run, I even run it on my girlfriends Moto Z.
Wallpaper is a static image, however the lag started recently, and when i was messing around with live wallpapers, there was no lag.
Just installed Evie on my phone and everything was running buttery smooth. May need to run it for longer to see if it starts to slow down. One thing that jumped out at me was it wanted access to location services to provide suggestions which made me wonder if the lag is actually caused by poor data speed or location information. Does the lag persist on WiFi?

Yes. However i feel this isnt really relevant to me as i have extremely fast cell data, Faster then my 150MB's down and 10 up on my wifi.
I'm on the exynos model. I find that using Nova or any other launcher as default results in lag returning to the home screen. It returns just fine but it does this strange transparent blink before the home screens become responsive to touch again. One can't swipe or click an icon for a very brief but noticeable moment.
This problem is even present when using One UI but it is less pronounced. You can replicate this on Samsung's own launcher by swiping to home and immediately tapping an app icon to open that and swipe home again rapidly and tapping another icon to open that. This must be done very fast, but not in an unrealistic way. I found myself quickly swiping home and hitting the next app I wanna open and it is as though it didn't register my press! This happens all the time. And my older less capable devices do not exhibit this behaviour. They are not Samsungs of course.
This 'effect' is far worse when using other launchers. I've disabled double tap to sleep to see if that fixes it and I've tried disabling gestures and both steps failed. Does anyone know any solutions? Or is experiencing this same problem?
