Unable To Edit APN Settings - OnePlus 7T Pro (Regular & McLaren) Q & A

I am putting this here in case anyone runs into a similar issue. When I first got my 7T Pro I could not edit my APN settings which meant I wasn't able to make my mobile data work. For some reason, all the settings were greyed out and I did not have the "+" icon at the top to add a new APN profile.
I did however found a solution. I borrowed an active SIM card from a friend and inserted it into the second SIM slot while my own SIM card was occupying the first slot. This allowed me to add and edit APN profiles. I don't know why or how but it worked, maybe it had something to do with the network? I'm with Telus, my friend is with Koodo. As far as I know, Telus and Koodo are one of the same so I don't know if network plays a factor in this.
Anyhow, I'll leave this here for someone to try if they ever run into a similar issue!

Vibrant on different data network

Hello all.
I have unlocked Vibrant. I am traveling to Romania. I bought Orange Sim card, it works in my Vibrant, but I don't get any data service, does anybody knows how to make it work?
Thank you.
that's probably because you don't have the APN settings in your phone. either google their APN or just call Orange and ask them to give you the information that you need.
Yes, you are going to have to call them and ask them for the APN settings. Thats what I did and I am using the MySimpleMobile sim card.

Access Number On My Android Device!

Hi there...
I have a very bad problem with my android device...
I have a android tablet device and I like to use 3G on it but my 3G career settings need access number value. It's *99# but I can't find "access number" section on my APN settings. Please help me to solve this problem!
Thanks a lot!
Access number is used if you're using a 3G modem on a computer. It's like an initialization so that computer thinks it's dialing up. Modem would still have APN settings set up inside.
If you have a tablet, you need the APN settings. Generally, copying everything from another phone on the same carrier does the trick. Calling up your provider and asking them directly will also work. I've had to do that before.
Thanks for your quick answer!
As I said, I have an android tablet. When I use my tablet modem on my PC, it works perfectly! But when I connected it to tablet it didn't work. I try another simcard (with different career) and it works on my tablet then my tablet, modem and simcard works but settings on my tablet for 3G simcard is wrong!
Only different between settings on tablet and PC is "Access number"! So what's my problem? I'm so dizzy!!
Ok, lemme understand it correctly..
First of all, you have two sim cards that you can use in the tablet. I'll refer to them as card one and card two.
Card one - you put into tablet, and the internet doesn't work. However, when you tether tablet to a computer internet works. Right?
Card two - internet works fine on the tablet, and if you tether it to the PC.
Is this about right?
Ok so, here's what I would do.
Insert card two, check APN settings on the tablet. Settings -> Wireless(2.3 and below) / More... (3.0 and above) -> Mobile Networks -> Access Point Names
Take note of the name, APN, MMSC
Insert card one. Check APN, and see if they have changed. If they're the same, then the sim card doesn't specify APNs, and you'll need to talk to your provider. If there's nothing there, same story. If they have changed to something else, then it's a good sign. Keep troubleshooting.
What I mean by sim card specifying APN... Some providers encode their sim cards with all the APN settings, so you can easily swap them. Others code those into devices, so if you insert sim card from second type of provider into device from first time of provider or no provider, you won't get any settings and will have to do them manually..... Sorry if this is confusing
Ok, so, if there are new APN(s) after inserting card one, check if you have packet data enabled (same menu - Mobile Networks). Then check if you get 3G(Edge,H+,4G etc) symbol showing up on the notification bar..... If you don't then most likely APN settings are still wrong, which brings me back to call your provider. Otherwise, you may have problems with proxy, or somewhere in the system.
Oh, and that access number, seriously that's not your problem.
So try the above, and let me know how it works out

Multiple APNs?

I use my DNA primarily on VZW but recently added a TMobile SIM card to my international travel kit. I found out the DNA is SIM unlocked so I jammed it in, set the APN settings and all was dandy. Phone worked very well.
Problem is, NOW I go back to the VZW SIM and the Verizon APN settings will not stick. I input the settings and save but then it retains the TMo settings.
I have signal bar but it won't get to internet or send/receive MMS. no 4G icon in the bar.
Anyone have experience with this?
Is there an app that allows me to easily switch between multiple APNs? It appears only one is saved at a time.
Does anyone else use multiple SIMs on any android devices and have suggestions on how to maintain this?
Stock Rooted with S-Off.
Steps taken:
Reboot, Clear Dalvic, Clear Cache
in APN click on 'Reset to default', the VZWINTERNET shows until I exit the screen, when I return it's TMobile settings
BTW: I have already tried suggestions here and it never saves. It will not add another APN. As soon as I go out and back in the new APN is gone.

HTC Rezound on PagePlus 4G LTE not working wiht P+ Sim Card

So I got the PagePlus Sim Card, contacted P+ to register it and what I ended up with initially was no voice/txt/mms/data. Previously I had voice/txt/mms/3G. I loaded different roms, reformatted phone, did system restore but the only thing that got voice/sms/mms/3g back was changing from NV only to RUIM Only. OK, so at least I have that back. But no matter what I do I can't get the LTE! Did any one had any luck getting LTE working on their device? I noticed on the simcard package it said something like "you might have to change your APN settings". Can someone please help? Post your DFS screenshots maybe? APN settings?
Any luck? I considered trying, but being that I had a hard enough time getting 3G to work... I'm not so sure I'm willing to put much effort into it! You have to order the sim card, right? Or can you get it in a store somewhere?
I bought the sim card on eBay. Still no luck with LTE. P+ gave me apn settings but still nothing.
There is something weird going on with the APN settings. My rezound is running stock latest rom. By default there is one verizon APN entry - Internet. The weird part is that when I add any new APN it appears in the list but I cannot select it - there is no select bullet to the right. Also, why is the default APN's MCC is 311 and MNC 480? And if I enter anything other than those numbers for new APN entry and click save it does not appear in the list?
UPDATE: I figured out that if you include word "default" in APN TYPE field than it gives you a select circle for that APN.

Unable to select a new APN on a Sprint unlocked variant G8X

Hi guys!
I just got an unlocked Sprint variant of G8X and realized that it does not let me change the default APN. I am currently on Mint Mobile but the phone recognizes it as a T-mobile and loads a default APN of T-Mobile (fast.tmobile.com) automatically. While Mint Mobile works with this automatically selected APN, I noticed that I am unable to send/receive MMS.
I was able to add a new APN, but I could not select the new one as the default APN. The existing default one has all fields greyed out so I can't edit it either. I never encountered such issues with my previous Android phones, so I got no idea what to do.
Any help will be highly appreciated.
Thanks,

Hi, I had the same greyed out APN issue, LG is killing me. Here's what I did. Hope it works for you. P.S. make sure your VoLTE is off, it screwed with my SMS.

Thank you for the idea, but it didn't work in my case, unfortunately. As soon as I remove the activated sim (Mint), I get kicked out of the APN setting. And when I insert a non-working sim (in my case, Sprint), the phone automatically loaded the APN for Sprint. Then when I swap the sim back to Mint, the phone loads the APN automatically again, but I am still unable to edit it.
I think I will have to sell it off.
