Edit- I just figured out the models listed in this thread are not the one I have.
I may be a little slow, but does this mean we can root and run Android on our Idol 4s? Also, I'm not sure what my model number is. It's an unlocked idol 4s in the United States.
Thanks!

Correct, you have the Windows version of the Idol 4. There was work being done to convert it to an android device but I don't think it's being worked on anymore. Last I knew there was a bootloader unlock available for it

unlock
Thanks for the app, i have a question, is it possible to unlock without having to pay, i already went to a local shop but they couldnt do it because i had it rooted With an old versión of TWRP

@PizzaG for model 6055b still not working? or do I install the cricket rom for now?

the AIO Toolkit isn't for you because we have no firehose programmer file. You can try the 6055k firehose if you want. Los16 should work fine for you

@PizzaG sorry for bothering you again, i have follow all steps but it appear this message in the moment to push the button download: " Download Fail:Sahara FailSahara Fail ", should I try to root the phone separately? and then continue with the steps of treble & gsi?.
really thanks for your kind attention and effort.

Hello!
I did all the steps, rooted and installed OrangeFox recovery, and next thing I know, it says there is no OS installed on my Idol 4 6055k. My mistake, I thought it would install a custom ROM as well, since it says up there:
-Roms-

I can't find the ROMs anywhere. I tried to go back to stock, but recovery won't recognize SDcard (other phones do recognize it). I tried to sideload the stock zip file, fail.
Sorry to bother you man, I'm out of my depth. Please, leave me some instructions how to go back to stock or how to install native LOS and where to download it from. Thanks!

Come to our group and we'll get you fixed up. You are correct, No roms are flashed unless you flash them. The toolkit only gets you setup for GSI roms, which you have to get. Native Android 9 works very well, so you have a couple differents choices.

DISCLAIMER:
I am not responsible to anything going wrong with your device.
You are responsible to what you are doing with your phone, not me.
If you blame me, I will laugh in your face and I'll go grab a beer.
This guide is intended to be used for people who want to upgrade their Android experience. This process could be dangerous. Please follow instructions, and if in doubt, stop, and ask here. No one wants their phone bricked*.
"For quite a while you are using your LG G2 mini. You like the simplicity of Android 4.4/5.0.2 and you think LG did a good job on the UI. You live you life happily with the phone. But after a while you feel something is missing. you want more.
You googled "How to make my device awesome again" and you saw difficult terms, such as root, flashing, recovery and bootloader. You didn't know what they meant, but you knew you have to understand these terms and apply them to make your phone awesome again."
The steps to make your phone awesome again are fairly simple:
perform these steps in order from top to bottom. Do not skip any.
--Rooting--
"Yes... I remember seeing this term.. I vaguely remember something related to permissions.. but I am not totally sure what this means."
Root - The root directory of your phone. The home directory for all your important system files.
Rooting - Normally, you don't have access to this directory, since the manufacturer doesn't want you to mess with it. Rooting means you will give yourself access to this directory. Why do you want access to this directory? Because later on we will need access to it to change some files.
Most common question asked is: will this void my warranty? YES
How to Gain Root Access
Android 4.4
There are a few methods to try. If one fails, you will continue until you succeed.
Method 1
1. Go to this link
2. Click on the big lambda in the middle of the page ( ? )
3. Install the app on your phone
4. Run the app and tap on "make it rain"
5. Your phone will reboot
6. Download SuperSU from here. This app is a root access management tool, and it allows you to give certain apps root permissions.
7. The app might ask you to "update binaries". If so, let it update.
Optional: Install this app to make sure you have root access.
Method 2
Go to this link and follow the instructions.
Android 5.0.1
There is only one method for rooting on this version.
Method 1
1. Go to this link and follow the instructions
--Unlock Bootloader--
"Bootloader.... is that a machine that loads boots?"
Bootloader - Code that is executed before any Operating System starts to run. A bootloader is usually locked on an Android device because although it’s an open source OS, still the manufacturers want you to stick to their Android OS version specifically designed for the device. In order to apply this concept, manufacturers lock the bootloader. With a locked bootloader on Android devices, it is virtually impossible to flash a Custom ROM.
Most common question asked is: why do I need to unlock my bootloader? Unlocking the bootloader allows you to install custom Firmware on your Android phone.
How to Unlock the Bootloader
It is advised to be on Android 5.0.2 to unlock bootloader.
Android 4.4
There Is only one specific guide for the d620 / d620r models.
Method 1
1. Go to this link and follow instructions.
Android 5.0.2
There is a guide for all varients.
Method 1
1. Go to this link and follow the instructions
--Custom recovery--
"After reading so much I think I need to be recovered myself!"
Recovery - Software that can be used to restore the device to factory default settings, update its operating system, and perform other diagnostic tasks. A custom recovery is a third-party recovery environment. Flashing this recovery environment onto your device replaces the default, stock recovery environment with a third-party, customized recovery environment. A custom recovery environment will do the same things as the stock Android recovery. However, it will also have additional features. Custom recoveries often have the ability to create and restore device backups.
TWRP - Team Work Recovery Project is the most common custom recovery out there. It is highly advised to use it, since other recoveries made for this device are old and unstable.
Most common question asked is: why would I want to use a custom recovery? Custom recoveries allow you to install custom software such as ROMs and kernels.
How to Flash a Custom Recovery
1. If you already have a custom recovery, enter it and flash the new recovery zip.
2. If not, download and install THIS app and flash though it the recovery zip. Then you'll be able to enter the custom recovery.
All Android Versions
There are several versions of TWRP. It is recommended to use the latest version, though using an older version won't hurt.
1. Go to HERE for Twrp 3.0.2.0
2. Go to HERE for TWRP 2.8.7.0
--Custom Rom--
"That was it? It was so easy!"
Rom - stands for “read-only memory.” A custom ROM replaces your device’s Android operating system — normally stored in read-only memory — with a new version of the Android operating system. Custom roms usually have added features not available in stock Android.
Most common question asked is: why would I want to use a custom ROM? Read THIS article.
I'm sorry for any left out roms. A lot are old and not updated or contain bugs. An updated list of them can be found at all time in the "Android Development" section.
How to Flash a Custom Rom
1. Download a custom rom to your sd-card.
2. Enter twrp recovery.
3. Make a backup of system, data, boot and cache.
4. Flash the custom rom.
5. Optional: flash Gapps.
6. Reboot to system.

--Custom Kernel--
"I'm going deeper... so deep, I'm almost at the kernel!"
Kernel - The kernel is the piece of software that bridges the gap between the operating system (and installed apps) and the hardware in the device. Everything you do on your device involves the kernel. Increasing the volume while playing a video? Android doesn’t directly tell the speakers to increase output. Instead, it tells the kernel that it wants to increase the volume, and the kernel talks to the speaker to increase its output.
Most common question asked is: why would I want to use a custom KERNEL? Read THIS article.
How to Flash a Custom Kernel
1. Download a custom kernel to your sd-card.
2. Enter twrp recovery.
3. Make a backup of BOOT
4. Flash the custom kernel
5. Reboot to system.

Please do not quote the whole post.
The LG G2 mini Tegra edition is very different from the other varients. It has a different board and uses other components. Unfortunately, to this day there is no way of unlocking it's bootloader, but even if it could be unlocked, there is no rom development for it. I don't know about rooting it, but from my knowledge, there wasn't ever a serious discussion about rooting it. The main reason is this phone is mostly seen in Latin America, while the rest of the world uses the "normal" version of the phone.

Hi,
I have a LG G2 Mini D620 which is still on KitKat 4.4.2. It never got an OTA update to Lollipop.
It has:
Baseband version: MPSS.DI.2.0.1.c8-00012-M8926DAAAANAZM-1
Build Number: KOT49I.A1404447153
Software version: V10g-EUR-XX
It is rooted.
What I would like to do is upgrade it to at least lollipop. Stock lollipop is fine (custom rom is not a must).
Can you point me in the right direction as to what would be the best way to achieve this?
Regards.
You can find the version you want http://lg-phone-firmware.com/mobile/ and flash it to your phone

I solved downgrading to kitkat and following the 4.4 method. I guess something was not working in the rooting procedure..

Thanks. I was not sure since OEM is still 9 and Gapps 10 was not yet available for download on official website. Tried from Cyanogen website Gapps 10 (full, pico) but 'Android Setup keeps stopping'. Tried from XDA BiTGApps, does not have Android Setup and works.
Will keep you posted here on how ROM behaves.

Delete it.
After installing ROM directly enter twrp and flash gapps ?
Seems to work
So I tested the rom for some time now.
It indeed restarts at some random moments just idling laying on the desk. Do not yet have an understanding why this is. However it is not that often that it is annoying.
Magisk works perfectly.
BitGApps does also work.
A lot of notifications saying app versions are not made for Android 10, try to update while having latest installed. Guess this is a Android 10 issue?
Netflix does not seem to work keeps giving connection error (9).
At startup the notification always pops up saying there is a problem with the android system.
Sometimes text in apps or launcher vanishes until restart.
Thanks for all the work!
Please make stable project treble for pie
Are there any near future plans for updates to make this ROM more stable? Or can I provide error logs to contribute?
The rebooting is getting worse and more annoying. I'm in doubt to get back to old ROM.
Thanks in advance.

Hi. I want to try this project but I'm not sure how to do this. I tried once but I failed. Can someone tell me what's wrong? Thanks. Here's what I tried (bootloader is already unlocked):
1. flash "41.3.A.2.247. Customization : Customized US" using flashtool.
2. fastboot flash oem vendor.img
3. fastboot flash boot boot.img
4. fastboot flash system <GSI Image>
where <GSI Image> is downloaded from [here](https://forum.xda-developers.com/pr...evice-development/lineage-phh-treble-t3767690) following [this](https://www.xda-developers.com/flash-generic-system-image-project-treble-device/) tutorial. The download link in [phh-Treble AOSP Thread](https://forum.xda-developers.com/pr...-development/experimental-phh-treble-t3709659) is dead.
5. Bootloop. Doesn't even get pass the sony logo.

Best ROMS for my device Huawei p20 lite(ANE-LX1 - Kirin SoC)?

Hi all,
I have unlocked my device and is currently running LineageOS 16 from OpenKirin. There are a few things which does not work, like the camera app that comes with the OS as well as the notch, where icons goes beyond the notch. Someone suggested I try the OpenKirin Rom and that is how I got that specific ROM on my device.
I was wondering are there maybe other ROMS for this device? Like the one's mentioned in the article below?
https://www.getdroidtips.com/best-custom-rom-huawei-p20-lite/
It took me a long while to get everything running on this device, Magisk and EdXposed. So I just don't want to go and wipe my OS just to try 4 ROMS that does not work. Sure you have app backup for that but it would mean doing everything over almost on the device.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Also I am rather new to custom ROMS so please bear with me!

There is nothing like perfect Custom ROM. It is highly dependent upon the requirement of the user and his likes/dislikes. Every ROM has its importance and downsides. You can try flashing multiple ROMs to find the ROM which is suitable and best for you. There is no Custom ROM that is 100% bug free (it depends, among other things, on model, FW built number etc. etc.).
If you don’t prefer EMUI,* choose Havoc OS , AOSP Extended or LineageOS.
If you "hate" Google and Google's bloatware (like me ) only, you can simply rebrand your phone to chinese Nova 3e (among other things, better battery life, lower data consumption etc.)
Or, choose Custom ROM based on Stock with KangVip settings ( to get away from GAPPS) , stable enough to be used as your daily driver.
Availability of custom ROMs for Kirin devices is scarce.

Hi,
No i have not tried one of the recommended in that list i provided. It took me a very long time to get the phone unlocked! Then more bricks, soft and hard through the process :crying:
Magisk was not as hard to install but EdXposed was, and I also got my device stuck on a boot loop trying to get EdXposed to run. So yeah I took me a while to get it working.

AB or A-only depend on EMUI version : 9.1 = AB, 8.0 = A-only.

If you have TWRP installed you can flash any number of GSIs I flashed CAOS V308. While I have a T510, the process would be much the same for you. Download the GSI of your choice, making sure that it has the right structure(Arm64, Arm, Arm32 etc) you will also need to know if your device is A only or A/B. Quickest way to do all that is just download 'Treble Check' from the play store and run it. It will tell you how your device supports treble. Then once you have your GSI downloaded, boot into TWRP. Wipe the system and with out rebooting, install your GSI img onto the System partition. Reboot and you should be running a custom ROM. It might have some issues as it is not specifically built for your device, but until there is development for the T500, GSIs are the only game in town.

[Curtana] Does flashing a custom ROM compel disabling force encryption?

First of all, I'm really sorry if this thread would turn out to be a dumb enquiry. I am new to intrinsically customising my phone and only have been using this device (Redmi Note 9S EEA Curtana, MIUI Global V11.0.4.0. QJWEUXM 4/64 GB) for 10 days. I've successfully installed root and TWRP on my phone after having thoroughly researched relevant information. The only thing is all my efforts regarding the removal of force encryption have so far failed. I'm inclined to install a custom ROM, e. g. LineageOs or Evolution X.
1. Is it a necessity to have encryption permanently disabled so that the flashing process proves viable? Currently, I'm only aware of a method which has its effect limited to the the period the phone is in recovery. It involves formatting data and then installing Magisk and thus I need to go through the set-up again. At the end of the operation, encryption is enabled again. I have no clue why. I've tested loads of no verity opt files, none of them worked in a proper way either.
2.Will installing a custom ROM eliminate root acces (since it performs a reinstallation targeting the entire system, let alone the patched boot image)?
3. In case something goes wrong, what's the correct procedure to return to the factory ROM? Is re-locking the bootloader a prerequisite? (See this guide https://c.mi.com/uk/miuidownload/detail?guide=2, for example. Notice how each of the stable MIUI releases there are marked with ★ next to them, meaning they're locked. I didn't quite grasp the message they were trying to convey with that explanation though.)
I'm conscious that's a lot to ask in a single thread, however, unlike myself, the majority of users here are supposedly tech enthusiast and probably have encountered similar difficulties on several occasions.
I hope that I've provided enough information and the thread has been named reasonably.
(Priority: detailed answers within a month would be great.)
Cheers,
Hsjaai
Just format data: twrp->wipe->format data write yes->reboot twrp and flash rom.
If you got error(red lignes reboot twrp and format again).
or
delete all your lockscreen security before flashing but to install a new rom you must format the data before.
Thanks for your quick response, honestly I didn't expect anyone to be this early to react.
As I've already mentioned, in TWRP there's a workaround for temporarily disabling encryption using the first method, the latter one doesn't seem to function as intended - that may be the case on newer devices, according to an article I've come across.
One last request. Could you please (briefly) answer my two other questions as well? How do I reinstall MIUI if something breaks down? Is the flashing apparatus provided by Xiaomi reliable?
I'll keep you updated on my progress,
Hsjaai

With Magisk app
I'm still unsure about something. Will the custom ROM be installed without hassle if I unroot Magisk at the beginning (meanwhile leaving the custom recovery intact, of course)? No guide seems to deem having root installed as a prerequisite. If you answer that, I'm really embarking on the flashing process.

Installing a custom rom (aosp or Miui) requires a data format (erases all data and creates a new partitions if necessary) which will remove root anyway, but sometimes root + twrp creates problems (can't mout the partitions) it is therefore to avoid this that I recommend you to unroot before.
In all cases (Aosp or custom Miui) magisk is installed last.
Which ROM do you want to install?
I'd like to install LineageOS first and see how compatible it is.

Install the right TWRP
Be sure you have the right firmware.
If not flash it.
1)Twrp wipe format data write yes reboot twrp(if error reboot twrp and format again).
2)flash rom
3)reboot system
v11.0.4.0. QJWEUXM is a turkish rom(android 10)
V12.0.2.0.RJWMIXM is a global rom(android 11)Firmware base for AOSP
It is better to use Miflash and install TWrp after.(dont relock the bootloader).
Are you sure v11.0.4.0. QJWEUXM is the Turkish version? I thought it was EEA (the one tweaked for European countries). Installing the Global version seems alright, but why does the MIUI version has such a great effect on the outcome of the flashing?
Is that because both Cherish OS and the Global version are AOSP-based?
