So I was just surfing on my PC through usb tethering and the system ui started rebooting after regular intervals. I disconnected the phone and tried to access Mobile network settings but the settings app crashed and since then whenever I try to access Mobile network tab the settings app crashes. If I tap on app info of any app the settings app crashes. If I use hotspot, settings app crashes. If I do it many times, phone just reboots. I tried resetting network settings. Then finally changed the rom. I am on lineage os 17.1 now. Today I tried to use usb tethering and the same problem is happening again. Changing roms or doing a clean flash solves the issue as long as I don't use tethering again. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I've got a Xoom wifi and I use the Fascinate as a tether for 3g when I'm on the go. I've got stock Froyo ED01, rooted.
I use the yellow icon Wireless Tether app (http://code.google.com/p/android-wifi-tether/) which has infrastructure mode, with the following settings:
1. Device Profile - Samsung Fascinate
2. Auto setup method
3. Wifi encryption enabled
4. Passphrase present
5. SSID "1"
6. Hide SSID checked
7. Channel "auto"
8. Wifi driver reload checked
9. Enable access control checked
Rest of the settings are the default
The problem I face is I turn on wifi tether, the Xoom connects (I get a notification that the Xoom (mac address id) connected and can use the internet with out any problems. Then some time around 1 hour - 3 hours, I get another notification that the Xoom is connecting again (phone vibrates). After this second connection, my phone works for like 10 seconds then just restarts. It shuts off and immediately I can see the samsung logo. After the phone restarts I can use wifi tether app again, but it happens again after a while of using it (1-3 hours).
On a related topic, I noticed that if I stop the wifi tether manually, I cannot use the wifi tether app again until I restart the phone. If I do try to run the program again without restarting I just get stuck on the "start tethering" notification forever. The yellow tether icon is there in the notification bar, but it isn't functioning at all. I have to restart the phone to get it to work.
It's kind of annoying, but more importantly, is this an issue a lot of people face and is it causing any damage to the phone?
Try using 2.0.5

Just try not to use your phone while tethering, I too have experienced this and it's always when I'm using the phone and wifi tether gets killed. then everything freezes and the phone reboots.

ive had this problem as well tethering on my vibrant
After using the wifi tether app once, I need to turn on wifi, wait about 10 seconds and make sure it can see the networks, then shut off wifi, then I can reconnect to wifi tether.
I searched in the internet a lot, but there's no clear answer. I have Galaxy Ace s5830 with system Android. I tried connect to home wifi network (this network is secured by WPA2), but my smartphone can't connect. I putted wpa2 password correctly for sure.
When I push "Connect" button, for a while it's "Scanning...", and then says "Disconnect". If I disable security of my home wifi network, I can connect and it's working well.
I don't know where the problem is: on the android system or hardware of my smartphone, or maybe on the router.
I heard that there are problems with Android and WiFi connection by WPA2, but is there no solution or I can't find its.
Thanks.
reset router
Try going to the router settings page & restarting your router. I had this problem on stock rom & this cleared it up for me.
Have you tried rebooting your phone? Its the solution 9 times out of 10
Are you rooted?
You might be locked out of your router. It happend to me yesterday. Try changing security settings to allow devices to connect.

How to reboot phone?

Click to collapse
Switch off your phone and turn it on again, if you use a custom ROM there might be a reboot option in power menu

It has done nothing. All the time it works this same. I mean it doesn't work. :/
Just disable broadcasting the ssid, add the hidden network name to phone and it will be good. You even mustn't have a password!
first, do you set your Wi-Fi setting correctly? look up on advanced setting, maybe it sets on static IP
second, try to reinstall your Wi-Fi driver on your SGA using code *#*#526#*#* via ur dial number
hope it's works
Hi,
I've searched a lot over the past couple of months but haven't find an answer to my problem.
When I connect to public open wifi networks that have a landing page, phone would automatically disconnect and display a notification saying "Sign-in is required. Network disconnected". This only happens if I turn the wifi on and let it scan and connect automatically. If I manually connect to any such network it'll automatically bring up the landing page instead.
I have disabled network quality check in the settings, but that doesn't solve this problem. I also installed the new firmware with a full wipe and cleared wifi hotspots a couple of times (TB).
Anyone else has had this issue and knows how to solve it?
Thanks a lot!

Android 4.3 XXUGML2 (rooted)
Whenever I leave home, and the phone disconnects from WiFi, it fails to establish a data connection, and requires a restart of the phone.
I have tried toggling the data connection and airplane mode in the hopes of resetting the connection but it fails every time. I have also turned on the aggressive transfer in developer options, but this hasn't helped either.
Any ideas?
Same here when I switched to "Prefer 3G" in settings. When switched to "Prefer LTE" everything is back to normal.

this bug should already fixed in the recent release of Dev Rom
I am now on 7.2.4.0 Stable. It's fixed.
Hi,
Every time after I succesfully connected Wireles Projection, finished it, close it, disconnected from wireless display, ... I have no connection at all. I must restart my phone after every Wireles Projection to get online again. And without sign of anything wrong, everything seems to be connected, but if you try to connect to smart home device, Internet, mail client ... No connection at all. And after restart everything is back to normal. It happens at any place, home, work, ... Has anybody same problem?
Thanx
I have not faced anything like this but was facing the issue of continuous toggling between wifi and 4g causing timeouts when trying to access local resources on my home intranet. Initially I tried formatting cache and also factory resetting the phone which helped but not completely. Finally found out that disabling Adguard DNS resolved the issue completely.
