Hello Leecoers!
I have an x820 which is flashed with latest snapshot of LineageOS 17.1. Very nice too! Thank you to the developers who have ported it to this device, in particular Marc Bourgoin.
One nagging issue which only cropped up recently:
The hardware navigation buttons along the screen footer have mysteriously reversed function.
The right button which previously was [Back] now behaves as the [Recent] button.
And vice-versa for the [Recent] button. It now behaves as the [Back] button.
No amount of tinkering in Settings will return the buttons to their normal function.
Remapping with an ADB command throws an error too in LineageOS 17.1.
Please guys, how can I remap these hardware navigation buttons in LineageOS 17.1?
Thanks

Thanks, takeastand! That is the app i used in the end, cheers. Though still baffled over why the hardware buttons suddenly remapped themselves?!

When I used to have a Windows Mobile phone (the old kind, before "Windows Phone"), I had an app on the phone, likely obtained from this site, in which one could add more functions to hardware buttons with long presses, double and triple tap (perhaps quadruple too, don't remember), etc.
Android phones don't have as many hardware buttons as the old WM PDAs and phones, but do have some. Mine has a hardware home button, power button, and volume rocker up and down. Also the two fixed soft buttons on either side of the Home hardware button.
Mine already has some additional button functions built in. For instance, long press the home button to get Google Now.
I actually do not want to change any of the current functions, but to add more functions. to hardware buttons, and even those two soft buttons.
Is there an Android app that will do that?
Thanks in advance.
Oh what a nice ROM ResuRRectioN RemiX LeMax2 x820 TeaMSpain . Thanx a lot. But i have a Problem with the Hardware Buttons. If i tab to the Left Side Button the Screen the come up the Widget / Background Controll Setup. In the Settings i have assign the Button to Taskmanager - but this is not functional. Its the same Problem after i Change this setting.
But when i Show the Sotware Buttons they are OK. Can anybody solve the Problem ?
for solve your problem, you should remap the touch keys so that if you press the middle button appears the task manager. I don't know why this does not work with the left key but who cares
You can remap buttons with xposed + gravitybox. This is how I did it for my phone.
I'd not noticed this before but it seems the RN3 left hand button is a recents button on press and a menu button on long press. This prevents the handy split screen feature from working in CM14 and above on this button. I can get this feature to work by adding a "Long press action" to the home button in settings however I would like it to work the same as my other Android devices.
Any thoughts on how this can be changed? I've had a mess in the keyboard layouts (where I also removed the long press on fingerprint to start the camera as it's annoying) but no luck with this.
Thanks.
EDIT: After changing the values again in Settings->Buttons this now seems to be working as it should. Odd.
So recently my friend's phone got his navigation hardware button broken.
The navigation hardware button likely random pressed home button itself. Is there anyway to fix it?
Disable hardware button is OK too, how to do it?

I got this problem too with my 'Menu' and 'Home' buttons , untill today when they suddenly started to work perfectly normal after few months that they were totally broken ! Another Xiaomi magic trick...
To disable 'Home' button and get rid of those irritating autopress go to system/usr/keylayout/ and modify Generic.kl : add an # in front of key 172 HOME VIRTUAL
For about a decade across various devices I've had the long-press action of the power button during screen off mapped to torch toggle. This became increasingly harder with every generation and seems to have gotten to a point where I can no longer get it to work.
Things tried:
- flar2 button remapper (doesn't detect bixby button)
- DarkTricks (has option, doesn't work)
- GravityBox (A13 port, option doesn't work)
I still have some hopes for a custom ROM with remap function built-in with the aroma installer.
Are there any other suggestions or solutions that are known to work?
Samsung good lock and registar module
Thank you, that works indeed. Also works during screen off. Perfect!
