To answer your question, GMS stands for Google mobile services and HMS is Huawei mobile services. This is what connects your info, cloud storage ect. The best way to look at it is like swapping from an Android phone to an iPhone.
Not a sad jump from Android to Apple... It is not at all the same...
US government tries to save their weird and bullsh.t companies as they are now frighten about Chinese capacities.
For that they forced Google to stop providing GMS to Huawei new device.
This forcing and speeding Huawei to find alternatives which will lead to a sooner death to the US companies ?.
What a good bet ?.
The main thing is that you will not have Gplay, Gdrive, etc... But HMS is growing their catalog for their users.
Everything is not there yet but by searching a bit you will find all apps needed (even those which are using GMS certificate such as Netflix).
Apk Pure is storing lots of Apk apps with different version and some of them are working well and as it should on newer Huawei devices.
The game is lost by the US (just by comparing how many innovations and brevets submitted)
US is far below... And this game will toll the bells earlier and very pleased with it.

Hi, this question is not silly actually. I also have the same doubt. But I think question like this can be asked in the forum of Huawei official website. Believe you can have a quick and precise answer.

I really don't know why people have made such a big deal of it not having GMS. HMS seems fine to me so far. Just have to use a few work arounds.

most of the work arounds ive been using is just using the built in apps (Huawei mail, huawei cloud etc) to get what i need from it. majority of everything else i use came from phone clone and petal search with no issues so cant complain, and thank you for the comparison. i get it now haha

i agree mate, think its just the news and everything and opinions of others puts doubts to people, especially current huawei users. But ones you get to use one you see the truth to it and the simplicity of having everything you already had before work perfect.

Since I've uploaded my App to the market, I receive emails about uploading my App to other markets too. For example this email I've received yesterday:
Hi ,
My name is *...*, from business department of Ndoo Networks. We are a company that operates 3rd party Android app market in China. We both realize China is a market of great potential, and there are already over 6,000,000 Android users in China. Now we are searching for the co-developers to make the Android market in China more brilliant.
We devote to bringing convenience and giving better service to our users. Till now we are generating a total of 5,000,000 downloads per month. The strengths we have now include:
--Diversified access to Phone, Web and desktop.
--App downloads 50% faster than Android Market.
--Value-added services to developers, including function test, security check etc.
--Operating an active user community including solutions for common issues using Android apps.
Meanwhile, the opportunities we see for you are:
--Expose your apps to millions of Android users.
--Expose your apps to many device makers in China who badly need excellent apps to get preinstalled.
--Ad-supported apps to generate income.
--Application proxy.
If you are interested to opt in our platform to distribute your apps, reply this email to authorize us the distribution rights. By default it is non-exclusive authorization.
Look forward to hearing from you.

Are there issues (read: legal issues) when you upload your app to other markets and / or is it smart to do. Because I get the feeling, just a feeling, that not all of these markets have the right intentions with the App provided by unknowing developers.
Are you upload your app to other markets too. If so, what website/markets do you upload your app.
Mod Edit: Moved to Q&A
Obviously all different countries will have different app stores and be impossible to keep track of all of them. However obviously the well known ones are Amazon Appstore and Android market (duh). Outside of the US there are too many to count small and big. However, you can do a couple searches on the internet and see for yourself if it doesnt look shady and trustable enough.
Personally as a Korean I know for a fact that T-Store in korea is huge with dominating market share and since Korea's smart phone market is pretty big you could try getting your app uploaded there. However, I'm not too sure about how it works for foreigners but if you are interested just PM and I'll do my best to help out. I really like your app and I think its a brilliant idea. Cheers.
I received a similar email and all I can tell is stay away from them.
They are not a legit market. All piracy.

Thanks for your reply and compliment for my App. I'm definitly gonna look into the T-Store you're talking about.
I got the same email too, and found this thread by Googling a sentence from this email

It seems like piracy in China is a common practice, and I'm not sure what can be done against it.

Seems? Come on! Let's all be honest here, we all know China is the number 1 in piracy, copying, not giving a f*ck about copyrights and so on. Whether is about fake iPhones, fake stores, mod chips, fake 2TB HDDs, fake apps, copied apps, fake everything and copied everything, etc. The world itself is there, either fake or copied. And there's nothing the rest of the world can do about it, since they don't have the copyright laws we have. If I were you, I wouldn't trust in giving my app to neither a Chinese nor a Sweden store (Sweden stores are a tad more controlled than Chinese stores, but still )
In my country, we call China "el rey de los plagios" (the king of copying/fakes/etc).

Hello. I'm doing some homework about mobile technologies and I have chosen subject about Play Store.
I have one question about some apps. Can you tell me which applications that can be downloaded from google store can potentialy publish phone's tech specifications? (Something like benchmark or some other things). I would be grateful if you could help me with my research!
Thanks in advance!

good luck

Thanks! This will also help. But I'm not talking only about Benchmark. The presentation that I'm working on is also about testing new upcoming devices by developers and how they can potentialy leak upcoming devices specs by Android Market.

The market itself does not 'leak' any information the only way a upcoming device gets leaked spec wise is when they use a benchmark app or some other thrid party app that collects this data
Yes, I know that. And currently I'm trying to find out which popular market apps are leaking this kind of information.
Here's an amusing one.
There's this Scan Most Bluetooth Devices app that tracks and records all devices detected via bluetooth.
Nothing much though, just mac address and device name.

Lots of great tips in this thread! I am currently making an app as well and plan on attending the Crowdfund Global Expo in San Diego, Jan. 30th-31st. I heard there will be lots of great investors at this event and wanted to take a look for myself. I highly suggest visiting crowdfundweeklynews.com to find out lots of great info about crowdfunding and how it can help people like us!
Probably thru admob first? Then try in-app purchases and stuff like that?
Revmob
Besides google admob, revmob also providing similar service $ too.:good:

I'm displaying admob ads and using in-app purchases (IAP) to unlock additional levels. After 100 game downloads (it's my first game for android, just released), IAP considerably outperforms ads.

You will get higher revenue from ads when you will have more users. But remember you will need active users because they will see your ads(earn by CPM) or they will click on it(earn by CPC) unless you will earn in other way like PPC/CPI or something else.

Interesting stats regarding the e-Commerce. What sort of thing are we talking here, bigger companies re-selling through apps?
Paid app and also ads network. But today is very difficult to monetize app for such competition. you should have very unique and useful app that can pay attention.

You have to look out and see what the market offers. Usually in here you get suggestions but the real deal happens where, whats ur app is worth. There was no headache for me. I went for freemium. I have a gaming app and have an in-app purchases. This by itself doesnt made me felt good. So we decided to put ads in it. Since I have tried few, I went to Adcash. Its SDK was quite easy to integrate btw. I had previous xp with adcash and i know what they are capable, so my pick was bit on loyalty too. $tats are decent also
Hi. Huawei mate 10 pro is not counting steps in S Health app when app is running on background. All other pedometers work perfectly, however Samsung Health works only when switched on on main screen. I've excluded it from battery optimisation, added auto launch and gave all the permission. Clean installation Done, but still not working. Any help?
Background operations is an issue with this phone. Everyone of us are waiting this to be resolved sometimes.
Many thanks for that. I was suspecting that and made sure that app has got all priorities and nothing is killing it. Unfortunately that is not enough. Let's hope some update will come out soon.
I have just got the P20 lite and the same thing is happening. Glad this is not just my phone but a bit annoying regardless.
Huawei predudice
Ive tried to get my Samsung health tracker to work on my Mate 5,even taking out the Huawei health app . Still does not work not only that it does not work with the Charity miles app. which I use to donate money to charity ,I dont know if the apps are not compattible or one is blocking the others ,
I use the huawei health app which is working fine for me
If you use gear fit or watch there is no problem as the accessory stores the information on itself and will transfer it when needed, but the app only, won't count steps accurately.
Why wont it work with charity miles?

Tbh I think it's not. The us government is the one that's been called out spying on everybody by Snowden, even their close friends like Germany or Canada. I am not saying the Chinese don't do that but nobody has ever proven anything. So pretty much the only country that has been caught is accusing others... Kinda suspicious if you ask me. I mean there are so many hackers and developers out there that find security flaws and bugs everyday and post it online or tell those companies for reward money. Don't you think by now someone would have found those backdoors the CIA is talking about?
For the phone: tge killing of apps is no bug. Same as the display dimming. It has been around emui for years and it is part of them making up for Kirin inefficiency. Sometimes it even kills Google maps while navigation it really annoys me when on my motorcycle since I have to stop to use the phone.
If you want reliability you have to use the Huawei app...
