I got samsung galaxy s3 (i9300) which in specs and on the box says smart ready (4.0) however no BLE, I searched and read and all I came up with was that it is but google and samsung are not matching so it is in the hardware but the software does not enable it.
I might got it, but my main question is, did someone already enable it??? it's been out on the market for so long and it such a popular product, why is it not enabled yet? can anyone help please?
What? S3 has Bluetooth. Can you explain what is not working more deeply?

Bluetooth Low Energy comes with android version 4.3. I suppose its already integrated and your normal bluetooth works like BLE.
The S3 4.3 firmware uses the 4.0 Bluetooth (BLE). I have a Polar H7 sensor and is working fine after the upgrade to 4.3.
Hi all,
i searched the officially available specs but did not find any information if an FM radio is onboard.
I mean a real over-the-air FM device, not just that things that uses my data quota.
Thanks in advance,
Frank
Both GSM Arena and M4's white paper lists FM radio support with RDS. In fact, I've never seen a Sony device without FM radio, so it's not gonna be different this time with M4 Aqua...
Reading helps ...

Thank you so much. Found it! Nice. Whitepaper is something official
Can confirm FM radio in my xperia m4 aqua dual
apparently the antenna is built into the headphones.... can't launch the FM radio app without the headphones plugged in...
It was never possible to use fm radio without headphones as antenna. At least i have not seen phone cspable of doing it in the last 10 years.
FM Radio and RDS works :good: awesome
any experiences how much battery its using compared to listen to mp3?
E.g. if I use my JBL bluetooth speaker, it seems I have to increase the volume of the radio to get the same loudness as with mp3
So it might need more power?
Just received the telephone the day before yesterday. Tried to get my HRM to couple to the device, to no avail. Looking into the problem with ANT+ tester, I discovered ANT HAL is completely missing (the ANT HAL service is present though)! WTF?
Sony advertises this phone as being ANT+ capable, but clearly it's not (yet!). I've contacted Sony about this, and are awaiting for their reply...
You mean you sent a message into the void, don't you?
Definitively sent from somewhere.

Afraid so yes... But miracles do happen still...
Maybe you got a test or demo unit. ?

I'm about to buy this phone but the missing ANT+ support is stopping me to do so.
It is obvious that ANT+ support on Z5 series is missing. Neither the tech specs on the sony product page show ANT+ under connectivity nor the device list of the ANT+ consortium (http://www.thisisant.com/directory/) lists the Xperia Z5 devices. All previous Xperia devices were shown immediately after the release day on this list.
For me this looks like Sony has dropped ANT+ support. Maybe they try to make pressure on Garmin to lower the license cost for ANT+. Who knows.

That would be disturbing. But a bit strange though, since ANT+ tester shows full ANT+ hardware and ANT HAL service etc. being present in the phone.
Reply from Sony on my enquiry was of course to throw back more questions to me and giving stupid advice like "repair your phone with out PC Companion software". When I checked this suggestion, just out of curiosity, the Z5 series wasn't even supported in this software, can you imagine? Fail, fail, fail.
Yeah looks like they crippled/removed ANT+ support in the last minute before release, maybe they missed to pay the license I really hope ANT+ support will be added with the next update.

Well, here in the Netherlands I don't even get replies from the Sony reps anymore. I've been exchanging FB messages with support, but all they do is refer to this stupid PC Companion software, which obviously can't solve the problem (especially since my Z5c is going completely crazy when I try to connect it to Win10 through USB. It's impossible to get a stable connection with the computer)...
As a "solution" I've now bought a dual-band HRM strap (Bluetooth and ANT+ capable) which set me back another 60 euros. Still better than having to wait for Sony to fix the problem they've created themselves, because that can take a long while, if ever!

none of mobile producers will admin that they released software with gaps, i expect this to be fixed in the new update
no update from sony yet, no ANT+ dedicated services installed by default
Surely the z5c is equipped with ANT+ h/w, just for whatever reason Sony haven't activated it into the current firmware... Correct? Or the device totally not equipped for ANT+?

I hope Z5 line is ANT+ equipped as per official specs but not enabled yet due to certification process not completed (as devices still not visible on thisisant website)
I have return mine today and asked for replacement (white unit)
Strange as in store Z5c had no problems detecting my suunto hrm

Just checked https://www.thisisant.com/directory/
Z5C and Z5 Premium are actually listed now. But very strange that the (standard) Z5 is not listed.
Guys, everything you need to connect ANT+ device is here:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dsi.ant.service.socket
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dsi.ant.plugins.antplus
and basic app to check if it works (assuming you have ANT+ device connected) is https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dsi.ant.hrmon_antplus
AFAIR the same situation was with Z3C. I installed two first apps and connected my old Garmin HRM. With Endomondo (free) is working like a charm. You need only to activate in Endomondo options.

can confirm no issues in .32 firmware
Hello friends at XDA
I am a guy who is looking to listen radio over bluetooth, because I find it very useful and also I don't want to waste my money using the data for this.
I made a little research and I find that only a few models have this particular spec, and a promising app (Spirit2 FM) sadly is no longer supported because the death of their developer (RIP Mike Reid). There is some ways to make it work, but none of it with absolutely certain.
The idea of this post is make a list of the models that actually support this feature, an serves as a guide to others who are looking for this. For example, I tested my Xiaomi Mi Max with Miui 8 and it support FM over BT, but the Xiaomi Mi5c don't.
I know that is necessary to connect an earphones in order to work as an antenna.
The list will be : Brand - Model - OS/Version - SoC
Xiaomi - Mi Max - Miui 8.5.3 - Qualcomm MSM8956 Snapdragon 650
Motorola - Moto G4 Plus - Android 7.1 - Qualcomm MSM8952 Snapdragon 617
Let's look if this idea works. If this post is in the wrong section, admins please move it to the right place. Thanks
Cheers!

Anyone haves an android phone who works with fm radio over bluetooth?
Hi all,
Looking at picking up a Redmi 5 Plus but have seen some reports of poor GPS performance. Is this still true. Anyone having troubles or is it a non issue?
Anyone? After three lousy Samsung* GPS phones in the family, a poor GPS is a first class dealbreaker.
(looking for the Global Version of the Note 5)
* Samsung S5 mini, both (yes, both) are lousy, as is the A3 2016. My S4 from 2014 or so is magnitudes better (but will no longer work together with maps) rendering navigating hardly possible with all our phones...

You should try getting root access with magisk and give a try to the module called Global Optimized GPS File Replacer and follow its instructions for getting it to work flawlessly. Good luck.
