S10 Lite both IMEI numbers the same after Samsung repair - Samsung Galaxy S10 Lite Questions & Answers

A quick question...
I have a S10 Lite which was new. It is a dual SIM version and it had two separate IMEI numbers with last two digits of each IMEI being 2 digits apart.
However, it had a fault that required anew motherboard.
As it was under warranty I sent it back to Samsung, they collected it...replaced the motherboard and returned it back to me.
Now it has two IMEI numbers but they are both the same....same as one of the original numbers. The serial number is the same as the old board.
Is this normal practice for Samsung?
Would having the same IMEI numbers make any difference?

It doesn't sound normal to me. I would call the service to describe this and ask if it is normal.
In Note 8 i had a problem. Samsung service replaced the motherboard also. When i got the phone i found out it was 1 card (original it was dual). I don't remember what imei i saw, although i think i saw only 1 imei, so it is not exactly the same case as yours probably.
Anyone samsung service in my area is someone i know. I thought it replaced the motherboard with a single phone motherboard instead a dual phone. But it was a mistake in software. He installed wrong software making it single card phone.. I went there, i waited, we downloaded another software, we flashed it and phone went dual phone again.. If i didn't see it with my eyes i wouldn't believe it, that it was just software for this.
Anyway i suspect some flashing problem also in your case but i am not sure. I don't think 2 same imei is normal. Phone service.

Does warranty cover IMEI number change?

So I've flashed my phones a couple of times without backing up the EFS folder (a mistake I will not make again) and my question now is if the warranty covers an IMEI number change that occured when I flashed it.
I have not rooted the phone and have also only flashed official firmwares (some leaks) but not custom Roms.
IMEI number: 00499901064000
You normally shouldn't post your IMEI number anywhere online, but I'm pretty sure that one is the generic samsung one you get if your efs is corrupt (or sometimes you get no imei at all)
Back to your actual question: I'm not sure if the warranty covers that exactly, but what you can do (assuming you have no signal etc) is claim you were updating your phone via KIES and when it booted you had no signal etc, that's what I did when my aunt's EFS was corrupted during an unlock and Orange swapped it out for a new one.
Try GSII_Repair app from market
If that works than you are lucky
if it doesn't then check the flash counter if its zego or more(if you had rooted before sometime) and take it to Samsung and say happened while updating through kies

Ah man I went to the store and asked about it (because I wasn't able to make calls from my phone) and we just switched out sim cards and it started working again.
But the guy I was talking to was actually about to send it in for repair but we decided to try out the SIM card switch first.
For future reference, warranty will NOT cover the phone if the IMEI has changed/is corrupt. Had this issue exactly as you had, flashed an official Samsung firmware release on the phone (without backing up EFS >.<) and lost the IMEI altogether. Samsung would not cover the phone under warranty regardless of the fact it was un-rooted/official firmware.

But the IMEI is still corrupted, isn't it? If the SIM change brought it back THAT would be amazing! ;-)

Okay, thank you for a clear response
Obviously his imei was not corrupt after all, as changing the Sim fixed the problem. If hazard a guess that either the original Sim had become dislodged, or damaged. Our maybe the guy in the shop factory reset the phone as well as put the Sim in the phone. Either way, the imei in the first post is the original, you should take it down. Otherwise, maybe some clever fellow will use it to make a clone of your phone! :-(

No it's not, it's a generic IMEI that generates when your EFS is corrupted. You will still be able to use the phone using this IMEI number.

That can't be since it doesn't match with the IMEI number that is under the battery (which the shopkeeper explained was my real IMEI number). I think it's a generic one.
The IMEI you posted is the standard wrong IMEI usually due to damaged EFS .
The legal IMEI is the one under the battery .

[Q] how do i fix this please?

Hiya, yesterday i brought a second hand samsung galaxy s3 off gumtree but when i put my 3 sim in it says emergency calls only even though the handsets unlocked. so i did a little research and it suggested it might be blocked so i used this service and payed to see if the phone had been reported and it hadnt. So i looked on androids IMEI number and the one behind the battery and the last 2 digits are different?
Android is saying that the last 2 digits are 30 but on the battery cover its saying 22?
How do i change this so i can use my phone
When i bought it i found superuser and CWM was installed so i dont know what hes done
Didn't you test and examine the phone before you pay?
Have you tried use other SIM card to see if your SIM card was damaged?

Digits after the slash / like /4 /02 are not relevant .
Usual suspects .
One phone blocked stolen etc .
Two phone is not working faulty .
Three its a fake .
Four you have the wrong network details entered .
Five no modem / wrong modem.
Six sim faulty sim reader faulty .
First step factory reset .
Second try a different network sim .
Third flash your local area/ network firmware .

IMEI Fix due to new motherboard?

Hi guys !
A few weeks ago, I accidentally deadbricked my Galaxy Note I717 (known in Singapore as the Note 1 LTE/N7005) , so I sent it to a repair shop to get the whole motherboard replaced. I just got it back yesterday, and I could not get a stable signal at all , only LTE and GSM on rare occasions for a few minutes. I checked the IMEI and found out that the software's IMEI did not match the one printed on the back of the phone.
Any ideas how can I get this issue fixed WITHOUT buying a 3rd party SDT Box or such items?
Thanks !
From what I know, replacing the motherboard is like getting a different phone. So, you may need to contact your service provider and tell them that you repaired your phone. See if they can update your account to make your service work on the phone.

[Q] Motherboard replacement - will IMEI be lost?

Hi
I have an S2 which is hard bricked, it is not stolen or barred.
I have bought a replacement motherboard and a shop will fit it for me as I lack the technical skill.
My question is will my IMEI be lost?
If so how do I recover it, assuming the phone is then working?
Many thanks in advance
Mark
Generally speaking, if it's a new MB by a Samsung service centre you'll get the same IMEI (but not in all countries). If you/someone else puts a 2nd hand board in, yes, the IMEI will change. Either way it makes no difference to you as a user, your phone will still have a unique IMEI & work as it should with either scenario.
You messing around with the IMEI in order to try to 'recover' your old one should it change will lead to a busted phone (again). Don't attempt this because it just isn't necessary.

[Q] SGH-I527 no calls in or out but

What's up fellers! Been gone a long time and know I am back. I got a deal on a I527 and found out the guy used a Metro-PCS sim. I didn't realize this until after I put my SIM in and saw ATT. I didn't see that when he had his SIM in there.
I read the 5 or 6 posts on not being able to make or take a call from a TMOBILE setup but since this may be a little different I thought I would post and give it a shot.
My symptoms are no calls (does nothing then emits a single beep then hangs up). Does the same when dialing out. 4G and everything else works 100% Phone is fast boots quick charges fast no complaints anywhere except the stinking call issue.
I used KIES to reload the stock ROM. Took about 20 minutes and completed. Still no calls. Here are the details
Phone has the ATT logo on back, says SGH-i527, has I527UCUAMK2 all 3 places. I talked to ATT customer service and they said the IMEI points to a SGHNM819N. But nothing on the phone indicate metro PCS.
I use to hack back in the ATT Tilt days. Not anymore. I had a small stroke and can't do all this complex stuff anymore. If someone points me in the right direction I can follow instructions but it seems to have gotten a lot more cumbersome to do these days.
All I am looking for is bone stock reset where everything works. I can wait for KitKat to come out so I would like a clean fix.
My sim is a ATT. The service agent online assured me the SIM was fine. My old phone was a Skyrocket that got wet. So the MEGA needed a smaller SIM. I picked it up today and swapped phones.
Thanks for any help and I am willing to pay for someone's quick help. I use the phone for work and right now I am pinched.

I had a similar experience when I bought a used mega, picked up full signal, eveything worked except that I couldn't make or receive calls, I just got a single beep. I even went to an at&t store and got a new sim card, still didn't work.
The guy who helped me at the store said the sim tray was bad, made it sound like it was a common. Issue. gave me the number to the warranty dept, said they might cover it. I called them told them what happened and what the rep told me at the store.
They sent me a replacement at no charge.
my phone done that when my imei was replaced with a galaxy s4's imei. I finially found a guy that put the imei from another i527 into my phone, he also replaced that sticker behind the battery from the mega he used to fix mine so everything matches

I took a look and sure enough the IMEI on the phone is different than the sticker in the back. I googled about 6 different IMEI sites US and EU based and checked out both numbers. Every single site says both comeback good. Nothing stolen or odd. A couple of site said not locked. I would like to have matching IMEI numbers. I would like the one used on the label. How hard is it to get rid of the one on the phone and make it match the label.
I don't think ATT will let me swap this out for a new one. I am not the original owner and there is no insurance on it.
Thanks

I sent you a private message so you can have it taken care of the right way and don't get messed around like I did my first time around

I wasn't the original owner and didn't have insurance, just had service with at&t. The phone hasn't been out for a year, so it's under warranty unless something shady was done to it. In my case the numbers all matched.
