HTc desire 610 keeps saying "entering recovery" - HTC Desire 610

I have an HTC desire 610 and as I was trying to flash the TWRP custom recovery I flashed the recovery image and now it keeps telling me entering recovery each time I boot. I accidentally also flashed the custom recovery to the boot image which makes it impossible to reboot the phone. I don't know what to do and the phone has been rendered useless
Any answer will suffice thank you

Hi!
I was helping a friend with this exact same issue just now, we found that according to a post on this forum, TWRP 3.1 doesn't work.
We tried TWRP 3.0 (https://dl.twrp.me/a3ul/twrp-3.0.2-0-a3ul.img) and it worked fine. Maybe that would work for you?
The post citing 3.1 not working: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=71672887&postcount=16

That didn't work
I don't know how to do that as it won't boot but thanks for the advice. Any idea if I can do it with a computer?

[Q] Clockwork Recovery image on HTC Magic doesn't work

Hey guys,
I'd like to use the ROM Manager and as we know therefore I need a Clockwork recovery image. My recovery menu works fine when I flash back the cm-recovery-1.4.img, but when I put on any of the last four Clockwork Recovery images (2.5.0.1, 2.5.0.0, 2.0.2.4, 2.0.2.0) it doesn't work. The Vodafone Splash screen just keeps showing and nothing happens after that
Here is what I did:
1) Attempted to install the recovery images directly via the ROM Manager
2) Attempted to install the recovery images via the terminal by typing
flash_image recovery /sdcard/clockwork-2.5.0.1.img
3) Also tried to install it several times in a row before attempting the boot into recovery via the terminal. Also changed back and forth between the CyanogenMod recovery and the clockwork one via the terminal before testing, but to no avail (read somewhere that this might help)
Here are my device specifications:
Rooted
Kernel-Version: 2.6.34-cyanogenmod
Mod-Version: CyanogenMod-5.0.8-DS
Device: SAPPHIRE UNKNOWN 32B SHIP S-ON G (Vodafone branded Magic)
SPL: HBOOT-1.33.0007 (SAPP10000)
Radio: 2.22.19.26I
I am sure there is a simple solution, which I simply don't know anything about
Thanks a lot,
Sandro
Im having the exact same problem! I can't boot into recovery after updating to clockwork recovery any ideas how to fix it?
I know, this thread is kinda old, but if the clockwork app asks you for your device just choose Ion instead of HTC magic! Tadaa works
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks

Random question here guys. Either on TWRP or CWM. When you turn off the phone and plug it up into charger. Is there a charge animation?
I am using dual SIM version of One Max (China Unicom's 8060, main SIM for WCDMA, sub SIM for GSM). Unfortunately, this recovery does not work. After unlock and flash recovery is done, it cannot enter recovery. It stays at the initial screen with "Entering recovery" and nothing happens. I have to press power button to power off. Is it possible to modify this to fit other model? Highly appreciated.

One more question. How can I flash back to stock recovery? Tks.

The only way to flash back stock recovery is if you had backed up the stock recovery before flashing CWM.
Can you tell me how to back up the stock recovery? Thanks again.
Hi Flyhalf, will you consider working out a version of the recovery for China Unicom's dual-SIM model (T6/8060)? It uses the same configuration as international version except that it supports dual SIM. I bet many users here (including me) are really looking forward to receiving it. Thank you very much.

I have just unlocked my boot-loader and have been trying to backup my stock recovery before flashing CWM. I seem to be lost as no methods (adb/terminal) seem to work. Can you please post a link where i can find instructions to backup my stock recovery?
I also tried fastboot boot <recovery> but the phone hangs in HBoot after this. I have to reset to get it working
Am i missing something? My phone is stock with unlocked BL without root.
Thanks!

I searched around and found from the HTC One forums that i may not be able to take a backup of the stock recovery if i don't have an s-off.
I went ahead and flashed CWM and tried to enter recovery. It would not boot and the phone was stuck which showed "Entering recovery ..." and a background HTC Logo.
I hard restarted the device and then entered HBoot to notice TAMPERED at the top of the device - This was weird for me. is this normal ?
I tried to boot into recovery again but it never worked.
I then flashed TWRP recovery which works fine and boots to recovery.
Phone seems to work without any issues though.

Z Ultra recovery stress...

Got my Z Ultra yesterday (£235 C6806) bargain!
I've rooted many a phone in the past and dealt with the dreaded S-OFF that HTC had but for the first time I actually had a brown trousers moment and I'm wondering if anyone could explain a couple of things for me?
I accidentally flashed a 4.4.2 ROM, this booted up but failed to connect to wifi and had a load of wierd issues, I then re-flashed the recovery img file which ended up in the device not booting, all i got was a colourful 'pacman roms' image. With enough manic button pushing I got back into recovery but found the USB mount storage option does not show the device up on my PC, Thank god its got an SD slot as without this I guess it would have been a flash to stock ordeal. I finally managed to install the 4.4.4 GPe Rom after getting into the recovery and now when I power up it has the usual 'google' logo.
So if I want to flash a ROM etc. I have to flash the .img file for a recovery? It's not permanent? Or should I have the recovery on there all the time?
Im assuming I will have fastboot access if required?
Thanks for any help just dont want to get into another panic attack with this thing!
Ed
Its not a HTC device , recovery is not flashed separate like on those devices.
You simply flash a SONY based kernel file with recovery in fastboot if you are right now on a SONY rom. And away you go. You will then be able to reboot in to recovery. After you flash a rom, the kernel and recovery will be changed out to what is included in the .zip file. :good:

Problem flashing TWRP

Bought a stock HTC one M8 second hand the other day..
Still locked and doesn't appear to be tampered with at all. Worked fine for a couple of days but then got a notification saying I needed to restart the phone to install "lock screen updates". Pressed restart, now I'm stuck in a boot loop :/
I've looked up what to do and it appears that I need to flash the stock rom, I've unlocked the phone and am attempting to flash TWRP, it installs fine but when I boot into recovery it starts loading TWRP, with eh HTC logo with writing over it, it then returns to the boot loop, not getting into TWRP :/
Not sure why this is, please help!

My unlocked, S-OFF M8 did the same thing. I had to back down to TWRP 2.8.1.0 before I could boot into recovery. Tried them all starting with the newest but couldn't get them to flash correctly.
*** Found out I had to update my firmware prior to installing the newer version of TWRP.
You might need to revert back to older versions of TWRP to accomplish your goal.

Thanks I'll have a go now and let you know how it goes.
Just tried all the available versions of TWRP, they all went into a boot loop :/
Is it worth turning S off?
The only guide i've found for s-off says you need to do a WIPE with TWRP and then flash an "insertCoin ROM', would this be possible using fastboot?
Thankyou in advance

Sunshine (http://theroot.ninja/) is the best available S-OFF option available. But, you have to be running and have a 'near stock ROM' for it to work. I'm going to have to wait and let someone with a lot more experience than I have help you out. Good luck.

[SOLVED]HELP! can't get TWRP to boot up on Z7 (NX506j)

Problem seems to be solved. it just did work magically. idk how and why but it works and boots up after some time.
as mentioned in the title, i cant get any twrp recovery to boot up.
i got my phone yesterday and succeeded updating it to the latest official version (V3.88 which is android 5.1.1 with nubia ui 4.0)
now i want to get a custom recovery
problem here is, i tried several versions that i found here and everyone doesn't boot up (just stays at the nubia logo)
i tried to flash it via fastboot of course. it gets flashed (command prompt returns "OKAY")
in fact everytime i reboot to android the recovery gets replaced automatically by the original one (at least thats how i think it happens). that means if i try to enter the recovery after i rebooted to android, the old original nubia recovery got restored.
am i missing a step or am i doing something wrong?
pls help
thanks in advance
where did you get v3.88 file?
