I'm planning on getting this phone this week but before I pull the trigger, I just wanted to ask how are updates for this phone (will be used on T-Mobile)? Have they been updating to latest security patches? Do they have plans for android 11?
So just in general, have your experience been good with the phone, would you still buy this over other phones? Thanks!
There was an update today for me for the June 1 security patch.

Is there any word on when the LG G5 will get the monthly android security updates from Google?
I'm on Rogers in Canada, and I haven't seen one since last September.

To my surprise when I checked my phone after Oniska replied, I have the November update to 7.0 installed. No idea when that was installed or how to be honest.
I'm installing bridge as we speak to see if there's anything newer.

Nope. Nothing newer than November. Google has put out some massive updates lately that are critical security fixes and I'd like them installed. Guess I have to wait for a provider update.
I got an update just this week, it was a security patch and it delivered nothing else.
My battery is still has an incredible drain.
Its an update from February 1th, i recieved it on my H860, SEA version, aka the Singapore version

Nothing to do with the network provider, my UK unbranded H850 is still on Nov2016. It is LG that is way behind the curve.
LS992 USA Sprint variant. Got my phone directly from LGE customer service center here in February.
My security patch is *older* (Jan. 1, 2017) than my phone manufacture date (Jan. 25. 2017) :silly:
Current patch level

My patch level is March 1 2017 since I got my latest update (last week) to 20b dated April 5.
When I was on stock it was months out of data I rang LG to complain and even the support people had a security version months out of date, November i think
I think this is shameful, only way to be secure is break your warranty
April 10 - 2017
Still on 1st November ??

Because I use my phone for authentication on many accounts. Security is paramount.

Last Friday i get the newest update for my LG G5 with the security updates 1th of April!
Build-Number is NRD90U
I have a free German Device
I'm currently on March security update
Got an update 2 days back.. V20f-ESA with April 1, 2017 security patch
Can anyone enlighten me as regards to why Verizon have not updated this device?
Wish I could. Sprint is still on the February security update. Samsung just released the May update.
Yup, been on February since I got the phone. I have a Verizon model S9+. My wife's Verizon Note 8 is already on the May security patch.

This is very typical for Verizon and Samsung. We will be lucky to get the may patch before August or September. If we get it all.
Would be nice if the next update was to 8.1 though! Or even P. Im content with the device for now. I am not overly concerned about the security pathc.
AT&T S9+ variant here....
Also still on February patch. My wife has the Note 8 on AT&T, on the May patch.
Sprint has, in the past, been pretty good with security patches, running about 30 - 40 days behind Google. But it seems all the carriers have dropped the ball on this phone. Wonder what the issue is.
I just came over from an S8+ on Xfinity that was patched twice in one month.. kinda surprised this one is behind considering it's the new flagship phone...
Thank all of you for your input!
They had an issue around April update which caused a bootloop. It's not Verizon, or the carriers that are holding this one up but Samsung making sure it works. I update from sammobile now anyways. I know it's not what you want to hear but I understand why they would want to hold it. We would be crushing Samsung and the carrier if they released an update that caused a bootloop.

It was just waiting for me when I pulled the phone of the charger this morning
Well, the unlocked Snapdragon version is still on Feb. patch, so Verizon is actually ahead of that game...

My Verizon S6's always got the security patches pretty timely and my Wife's Note 8 has been getting them like clockwork as well.
Well, I have to eat my words. I just got the May Security Patch update on my Verizon S9+
Thats pretty good!
I just got the new security patch. Does anyone know what they add besides security?

So I just got the first software update on the phone. I have the S10+ from T-Mobile. It included the March Security update from Google. It did not list any other specific change in the details.
Does anyone know what this update includes besides the security update or is that all? Like does it fix the known issue of waking the display in your pocket?
Also has anyone else gotten this update on other carriers or other variants of the S10?
Also let this be documented that Samsung is very fast with updates now for this new S10. Releasing the security path only about 4 weeks after Google released it for its Pixel phones is very impressive.
Also let this be documented that T-Mobile is the best carrier for fast updates from my experience. They always pass out an update for their variant of a phone as soon as the manufacturer releases it.
Got the same update on AT&T phone today. 500mb size. Let see if they fixed any problems with it.
i have the note 20 from att. it has never had any security updates at all. if i look at software information it shows july 1 2020 as the only one. i look on att web page and there have been a few and now android 11. whats the best way to update this without talking to someone from att which allways is very frustrating .
thanks
You should be able to go to Settings-->Software Update-->Check for Updates
Is your phone rooted or modified in some way, that it isn't validating with ATT for updates? Just throwing it out there...
Anybody receive the May security update? I had been getting regular updates from Samsung, quite early in the month. Impressive actually. Haven't received the May update yet, so I'm curious if others have.
I have the unlocked version, but using it on the AT&T network.
TIA
Just got the OTA update. I'm surprised it's this late, considering all other OTA updates are usually within the first week of the month.
