hey
I have a broken s9+, the motherboard is dead (sadly) there are resistors that been fried from water damage and I just can't replace them!
so I am thinking of extracting the eMMC out, clean the chip and buy a socket to connect it to my PC and do a backup for everything on it
now I have 2 questions which :
1- what kind of eMMC does the Samsung s9+ have? and what socket do you guys recommend buying? if there is any good tutorial that I missed? and Google decided not to show me please link me it.
2-is it possible to clone the broken eMMC with the entire android system and data to another functional s9+ with the same memory capacity?
thnx..
There is no EMMC, Samsung S9+ has UFS Storage.

thank you for replaying... do you recommend any good socket reader? i have done my google research but I think I am still
struggling which socket to buy since I don't know what specific UFS model does the s9+ has.

Please do not do it. You are required EasyJtag device with Pinouts which can be found on google easily and take pinouts from ufs storage and operate but you got to have professional skills to do it. Leave it be my advice, EasyJtag would cost you around 320$.

Hi,
I have just bought a small hard dirve and was wondering how i could connect it to the xda II.
if you can find a sdio card which alow it
or if you use old wm2003 and got the backpack
and can find an cf card which alow it
then it can be don but in general i doubt it
himalya dont use a hd internaly at all
and 2.5" hd's use much more power then most pda's can provide without
external power
hard drive
hi,
I don't quite understand how to solder it in. Please help.

Nobody does!
What part of: the device doesn't have an HDD don't you understand?
Thread closed
you 99% surely cant solder a hd into it
the ram storage inside your himalya is flash and sdram which
are small chips a harddisk is much bigger and use much
more power and require a controller to opperate
So I really want the Galaxy tab 10.1, but why pay extra for the 32gb if the 16GB has a microSD card slot internally eh?
So thats what I want to know - does the Galaxy Tab 10.1 (ebay item: 110756156438), have a micro sd card slot INTERNALLY so I can crack it open put a quality 32GB card in and seal it up again?
Highly unlikely.
I'm pretty sure there is not a card slot inside. It's just like all other android devices that specify internal and external SD. The internal SD is hardwired. I'm not sure why they call it internal SD and not flash memory or NV memory as it only adds confusion. The best thing to do is get the 16 GB and buy the OTG usb host adapter on Ebay for $7 to connect a USB hard drive (that's what I did). Not worth an extra $100 for the 32 GB version IMO.
Damn you samsung, I can live with ALL the shortcomings of the Galaxy tab, but not the exclusion of a Micro SD card slot. It's a deal breaker - not just because I can add more storage but because should it get bricked I can grab my files from the SD card!
Then wait for the Toshiba AT200.
Or the Transformer 2?

Not this thread again. About 2 months there was a big debate about this. It ended when someone opened up a tab and confirmed there is NOT a slot internally.

Doesn't this come free with the tablet to begin with? I got one inside the box, so maybe they started including it later. Never used it yet, but I think this is what they threw in with the tab: http://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/galaxy-tab-accessories/EPL-1PL0BEGSTA

I just got mine last week from Best Buy and all that was in the box was a wall charger, usb cable and earbuds. The adapter you linked to was on the shelf next to it for $20.
It would love to take this thing apart and see for real. Im sure you could mod it to accept something bigger

Thanks for that dude, those pics were very helpful! I thought because the 10.1v had one (or some say it did), maybe the 10.1 would aswell for those not afraid to crack it open.
My bad it's not a simcard slot.

That's strange, over here (in India) it was a part of package i.e. the adapter was inside the box. Both me and my friend who bought the tablet about a week apart got one.
I didnt get one. :-(

Hello everyone,
I wanted to get your oppinion on buying a version of the XTZ because I can't decide.
By now I am thinking between the 32GB only version and the 16GB LTE version. I know the price difference so that's precisely why I want to make the best choice.
I still have a question to which I didn't find the answer ...
- does the XTZ read information from external USB 3.0 HDD's or there is a limitation of Android or of the tablet version?
I have two external 1 GB WD that i want to use ...
To surf the internet I don't mind making a hotspot with the smartphone.
Please advise.

It really depends if the XTZ will read external hard drives, USB 3.0 itself shouldn't be a problem.
1) How is the hard drive formatted?
Is it FAT32 or exFAT (Wifi version only) you're good to go. NTFS won't work.
2) Does it have external power support?
If not, it really depends if the XTZ USB port via OTG can provide enough power to run the hard drive. I have tested 2 hard drives so far (without any external power support) and the XTZ couldn't run either of them. But I have heard from several users that they actually made certain external hard drives work via OTG. It is really kind of a gamble if the XTZ can make your hard drives work and I wouldn't rely on it, there is no oother way around it to just test it out but I'd say the odds aren't great.
If it has external power support it should be no problem as long as the format is okay (check 1)).

Thank you very much. I checked and my two External HDD's can be formated to exFAT in Win8.
The only problem (and quite a big one actually) is represented by the power provided through la USB port on the XTZ.
I saw on the thread that you started that a few users in Germany managed to power a few External HDD's without external power support.
Can you please ask what kind of HDD's thay used? Make and model pls?
Thank you.

Sure I will try to contact them, it was in a forum I don't visit that frequently though so I don't know how fast they will reply. I'll get back to you as soon as I know more.

I've contacted the guy and he told me he was using a 3 year old, 500GB Seagate HDD but hasn't answered my question which exact model it was.
Hello guys, does anyone know if the boards are swappable? Can I buy a 32GB board I seen on eBay and pop it in my 16GB screen\housing?
Thanks.

In the tear downs that I've viewed, it looks to be a pretty standard swap.
Thanks for your reply but my question is if it's the same device...is it compatible? I can take it apart...yes...looks easy. Will it work is what i need to know before i buy the 32GB motherboard.
The entire tablet design is on the motherboard, and it contains the LCD driver and I/O. So since both motherboard models use the same screen then yes they would be able to swap perfectly fine.

Hello all,
I am looking for alternatives for my project which used to use the A95X F1 ATV (s905w) as this seems to be no longer produced. TX9S (s912) seems to be a reasonable replacement for now but no idea how long stock will last.
The requirements:
Amlogic CPU, why I'm posting here S905W and beyond.
64bit support.
2GB RAM minimum
8GB Storage minimum
Ethernet port, 10/100 is fine.
Flashable storage, via USB prefered.
HDMI output is useful but not needed.
Barrel connector is useful, power requirements under 2.4A for USB hubs.
I've done research on a board and come up with XPI-S905X by Genitech is a $35 board with pretty much everything I need but with extra's that push it up in price. With open fireware its a cool little board but price for scale in the 10's of boards is required.
If you guys know of any specific options I can't find, ideally higher on the stack then s905w due to supply please provide some info!
What is your project I am still not sure...are you looking for suitable rom?

Would be really helpful to know what your project is. Some sort of server?
Your link shows just a board. So basically you can buy any Android box, open the box and throw it away and just keep the board. This will probably be even cheaper.
Your specs are also very low. You can easily find a box with that specs for less than $20

I've looked at a few boxes but the A95X F1 and TX9S seem to be lacking production, finding new ones which can possibly future proof for a reasonable price is hard.
Has to be Amlogic after all, and x96 mini's sometimes don't seem to flash from testing.
