Resetting and restoring a Mate 20 Pro - Huawei Mate 20 Pro Questions & Answers

Hi guys,
I need to send my phone to Huawei for a battery replacement as my battery is really not lasting how it used to. They told me that the battery replacement will result in the phone being reset and wiped to factory settings.
If I back to my phone using HiSuite, what I will lose after the restore? Will app preferences or personal data being preserved and restored, or ust the bare APK itself? In other words, how much extra work will be needed to get the phone back into the same state as before? What data is lost during the backup/ restore process?
Many thanks for any input, this will be my first reset of the phone.

Problems after Flashing

Hello,
I followed the newbie tutorial on flashing WM6 ROM to my G4 Wizard. After a few tries, it seems everything went well. But now the phone seems to be bugging out. I upgraded to NBD 9.2 from the OEM WM5 ROM.
First off, I lost all my information/history such as contacts, texts, calls, etc. How do I restore these?
Alternatively, is there a way to go back to the original WM5? Do I need to remove HardSPL? I thought that was only when you were sending it back for service so they can't detect you did anything to your phone.
I am not getting any phone service at all. It won't bring up the keypad to dial either. The internet seems fine however.
Right after flashing, I think there was a program called PIM Restore, but now it seems to be missing.
I have soft reset it since the flash, but nothing. I don't want to hard reset for fear of losing all my data, even though it appears none of it is there since the flash.

First, flashing a new rom will remove all the files on the phone including your personal data/contacts/mssgs etc etc, they all are lost, you shud have first backed them up,now there's no way to restore them back, yes ! PIMbackup is the application with which you shud have backed up all your data to your pc.
Perhaps, its a bad flash thats why its bugging out, either reflash or try any other latest custom build wm6 or wm6.1,hope you'll get a much faster response and wonderful experience.
Well,as you say,all the data is already lost, there's no harm in doing Hard Reset,it might get it working correctly.Hard Reset is what I recommend otherwise, reflash.
You can download the PIMbackup software from the forum and install it anytime and backup your data.
Well,if you want to revert back to original wm5,you'll have to first remove HardSPL,only than you can revert back, otherwise you'll Brick the phone.

OK, UPDATE:
So last night I turned the phone off and turned it back on and now the phone works (as in makes & receives calls). It's still twitchy, but everything seems to work except the Contacts & PocketCM. When you try to use them, it looks like it's trying to open, but then closes.
As far as the backup, I had a feeling I was in for that but wasn't sure. Maybe we should have a warning in the newbie tutorial that tells everyone: ALL DATA WILL BE LOST! BACK UP ALL THINGS PRECIOUS TO YOU! I read somewhere that to save your contacts, you just copy your PIM file to storage and paste it back after flashing. I did do that, however it doesn't seem to work. It didn't cross my mind to copy the contacts through Outlook. I didn't have PIMbackup before flashing, but the ROM included it, but now it seems to be missing altogether.
Here's the weird thing though. So all data is supposed to be lost after flashing right? Well after my phone decided to start working again, I checked call history & all my old calls are still there, with names & everything. Is this supposed to be right? All the new calls however don't have names & I can't add them because I can't access Contacts. If all data is to be lost, shouldn't the call history be gone, too? This makes me wonder if all my data is really lost or if it is somehow recoverable on the phone.
How do I reflash? Just do the entire process over again? Do I just reflash over, or should I remove something first (sorry newbie question)? Is there a way to revert to WM5 without removing HardSPL?
Thanks.

Help: Encryption unsuccessful!! message

Help... I accidentally ran my phone completely dead, upon restarting it, and plugging in charger, it turned on and then off. Now i'm getting a message that reads: ENCRYPTION UNSUCCESSFUL encryption was interruppted and can't complete. As a result, the data on your phone is no longer accessible. To reume using your phone, you must perform a factory reset. When you set up your phone after the reset, you'll have an opportunity to restore any data that was backed up to your google account. I do not want to lose anything on my phone most importantly my pics, music, and contacts. frankly i don't want to lose anything on my phone. I tried flashing the 4/23 over to see if that would have worked but to no help. Any ideas? PLEASE!!
Also should mention that i can access CWM. I can see all of my past nightlies, and my last back up...in CWM. Should i restore my last backup, will that fix the issue and not lose my internal things?

Battery garbage after factory reset

I did a factory reset on my phone (stock), then used the restore option to bring it back to its previous state.
After the reset, the battery started performing terribly: fast to drain and slow to charge. What could have happened?
The phone states it is fully updated, etc, all of my settings are the same. Should I reset it again but back to stock without restoring it?
Thanks

[Q] Effect of Factory Resetting The Phone

Hi every one,
I have an HTC Amaze 4G phone which I had rooted properly and flashed speed rom successfully. I had an issue with the phone's contacts so every now and then the contacts memory goes blank and shows "Zero Contacts". After a few minutes it comes back to the original state and shows all contacts again. I tried to restart the phone when the issue occurred but it did not help. I thought I might have installed a software which is causing this issue so I did a factory reset.
After the factory reset, to my surprise, my phone was unrooted. I can't understand why that happened? Can anyone please tell me the solution to both problems?

During Factory Reset, root gets overwritten being in one of the system folders. As for contacts, there may have been corrupt contacts. If your contacts are backed up to google, then now that you've run factory reset, they should be fine. You can test the contacts after each install you do to find out if there is an offending app.
