Need help fixing my SM-G925F phone (willing to donate) - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi i was hoping someone could help me fix my SM-G925F device (willing to donate to anyone that can help me fix it). I will give you abit of information of how im in the situation going back to about a year ago i got a firmware update on my samsung galaxy s6 edge so i started downloading it and my device rebooted and said it was installing the update but halfway through it must of corrupted or failed but my device still booted up and when i went into my settings it said i was on android version 7.0 so thought nothing of it but did start having a few minor issues now and then but anyway on sunday i was playing a game on my phone and it randomly just froze so i waited 2 mins and then it seemed to be working again but then 5 mins later it did it again and i waited around 10 mins and it was still frozen so i had a look on google and it showed me a button combination you can do to restart your device if it does freeze but after it tried rebooting it would just sit on the s6 edge logo screen so i tired looking online again and it told me to go into recovery mode which i did and it showed a little error at the bottom left corner saying "dm-verity error" but i still tried clearing my cache partition but when i rebooted the phone it was still stuck on the s6 edge logo. I decided to reflash my device with a stock rom from sammobile but it failed at system.img and when i try booting my phone i get a error saying "An error has occured while updating the device software. Use the Emergency recovery function in the Smart PC software" so i tried flashing a custom recovery named "TWRP" but that also failed so now when i go into dowload mode by holding down the down volume + home + power buttons and press volume up to enter dowload mode in the top left corner it says:
ODIN MODE
PRODUCT NAME: SM-G925F
CURRENT BINARY: CUSTOM
SYSTEM STATUS: Official
REACTIVATION LOCK: OFF
Secure Dowload: Enabled
KNOX WARRANTY VOID: 1 (0x0200)
AP SWREV: B:6 K:2 S:2
I have tried different stock roms that match my device model but now odin fails on boot.img or just stays on initialization

Only a side remark:
As long as dm-verity ( read: Android's verified boot implementation ) isn't got disabled prior to make changes to Android OS any hacking/modding will fail.

I'm only trying to re flash the stock rom but for some reason since i tried flashing twrp it won't let me flash anything while using odin anymore. It will stay on the
initialization stage and say it's failed around 20 mins later. I've tried using different odin versions, different usb cables and even different pc's but nothing seems to be working

Yeah the phone was bought from carphone warehouse in the uk so it isn't locked to a certain carrier. I have tried alot of different versions but the latest ones i have tried where 3.14.1, 3.13.3. I honestly don't think it's a problem with the software because it was flashing fine before i tried flashing twrp and it failed ever since then odin just stays on initialization stage and then will just say it's failed about 20 mins later

Device shows up and you're able to load the file to Odin, and click flash, right? But no progress?/stuck on initialization. I had this exact issue a while back (While I was testing my SHRP builds, was trying to reflash TWRP after my build didn't boot) on Odin 3.13, worked for me when I tried Odin 3.10.7. 3.13 *was* working fine for me earlier, no idea what caused it to stop working, could be worth a shot.

I'm using a Galaxy Note 5, which share the same SoC, so it is possible that we were having the same/a similar issue.

Samsung Galaxy S4 1337M not booting to recovery

So basically, im a noob. i tried flashing stock lollipop on my galaxy s4 from CyanogenMod with odin, but it says not responding everytime pda is clicked. Now, when i try to boot up the phone with recovery mode (vol up home button and lock) it says "Recovery Booting" in the corner and vibrates twice. Then it tries to boot normally but of course fails with the cyanogenmod splash screen eternally spinning. PLZ HELP i have no other phone
Try a different PC and/or version of Odin. Sometimes Odin does that for a couple minutes and then will finish checking the md5 and work fine afterwards. Can be finicky on some computers.

your device is on a bootloop. you can overcome it by flashing last working official firmware of your device.
& for the lollipop update,
Check whether the update of lollipop is in .tar,md5 format then only you can flash it via odin through PDA option. You can even try Odin_v3.09 & select the AP option or simply follow any guide how to use Odin_v3.09
If the update is in .zip format then install a custom recovery to your device and flash it.
Lastly you can restore your phone by flashing official firmware that previously worked on your phone and then try flashing lollipop update with a fresh start.

J7 Prime, FRP Lock, Need Help!

Hello everyone, I am new here, and I want to ask omething, after I turned off my Samung J7 Prime (Trying to restart it), it diddnt restart and says "Custom Binary Blocked by FRP Lock", I have stock rom odin in diffrent versions, i thried them but they fail, I saw in one thread that you need to Reformat your device, but when I am trying, to go to recovery mode, It says Recovery is Not Seandroid Enforcing, I cant use Recovery mode, I tried download mode but its blocked by FRP Lock so I cant use or flash orreformat my device, I hope I dont get ****ed! Please help really need all your help! Thank you, Hope my phone gets fixed!
" It all started when I turned off oem unlock and rebooted m phone"
you have to flash a stock firmware for your device to fix this mess up, to that you have to download the firmware according to your device's exact model and flash it under download mode.
you said you cant access download mode but i dont think if there is a possibility of lock down of Download mode by frp. First Remove the Battery and place it back to make sure it is completely switched off then Try again to enter Download mode.
press: Volume down+home+power buttons simultaneously for 5 or more seconds until the blue download screen appears.
then connect it to odin to flash the stock rom you downloaded.
hope this will fix your issue.
hit thanks if helped..

Strange, if you have a stock boot image then why its still blocking it. is it a backup or you downloaded the image from internet. if downloaded make sure that it matches exactly with your device's model.

when flashing with odin you just have one file in the package ending with .tar.md5 all the images required like recovery, boot, system, etc exist in that file itself.

Boot loop, tried some methods to get out, nothing worked

First of all, my phone isn't rooted and knox is not triggered.
Today I rebooted my mobile phone because the app adhell wasn't working properly and after that my phone got stuck in the boot loop (samsung letters in the screen).
I've tried wiping the cache and flashing the firmware again with ODIN, didn't work. I can't enter to the safe mode and erase adhell neither. Samsung smart switch doesn't recognise my device so I can't use it.
I run out of ideas, what else can I do to get out of the loop without erasing all the data in the phone?
Thanks in advance.
Same thing here, after update (official from samsung), Mine is stuck in a bootloop too.
Anyone, please help?
---------- Post added at 09:31 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:29 PM ----------
Same thing here...
If Adhell is the cause, then fixing the bootloop is just as simple as removing it. As for how you go about fixing it, you have a few options.
1) Returning phone to store bought from if still under warranty and getting them to help. They'd most probably wipe it or replace it.
2) Full reset wiping data you don't have backed up
3) Custom recovery that lets you delete the files manually, but will probably trip KNOX
You could always try booting into recovery and see if your PC picks up your phone, then backing up what you can from there. But again, that might not be an option because stock recovery. TWRP lets you access files from your PC, but again trips KNOX.

First off, download SkipSoft Toolkit, go through the options it gives you until you're on the model of your phone and Android version. Then if you haven't already installed the drivers, do it. SkipSoft has the ones you need there. SkipSoft also downloads all the files you need to root, to flash TWRP, has a stock recovery if you mess up or want to return to stock for whatever reason after.
Then select the option to flash a custom recovery and root. You don't have to root, it won't do it automatically, that's something you have to flash yourself inside of TWRP if you want to. If you do want to root, look into Magisk. It lets you still use apps that normally don't work on rooted devices (it doesn't trip SafetyNet).
As for flashing the recovery, there's a wall of text that SkipSoft gives you to read which I'd recommend going over to make sure you know what you're doing. If you screw up, 99% of the time there is a fix for it so don't panic.
If all goes well, you should see TWRP loading up when you boot into recovery. Then when you connect your phone to your PC, it should appear as normal and you can copy any files you want to back up. TWRP has a Wipe option that will completely clear all installed apps, all app data, any setting changes and set your phone back to stock without deleting the files you have on it to save you from having to copy them all back again after. I'd also recommend making a complete backup of everything through the option in TWRP at that point for future security, and just in case you want to root.
If you have any more questions, just ask. I don't have an answer for everything, but I'll try my best.

Update SkipSoft, recent version is 1.5.6, 7.0 is in that version.
If you can't update for whatever reasons, you can manually download the TWRP files from here and drop those into C:\Unified_Android_Toolkit\recovery\GalaxyS6Edge, then select any version of Android and follow what it says. Just don't flash the root it provides, use Magisk as I said before.

Hi, I am having the same problem as you since yesterday afternoon where it's stuck in a boot loop, my notification light was blinking so when I went to check on it the phone was turned off but the light was still blinking, the light only stopped after the battery drained completely. when I tried to turn the phone on after charging it, it's still stuck in a boot loop, only thing I can do is hold the volume down, power, and home button down to enter the "downloading do not turn off target screen." I downloaded smart switch on my laptop last night to see if I can fix my phone through that but it says unsupported device, and when I try emergency software recovery and initialization option when I enter model name and S/N number and click OK the program closes and nothing happens. polema what did you do to fix your device?

I got my phone through AT&T in USA model is SM-G925AUCU1AOCE and I not sure what android version I have.

[Bootloop & Recovery] S6 Edge G925F

I have an S6 Edge, that does not boot.
I successfully flashed a stock firmware with Odin, but after restarting it simply gets stuck at "Samsung Galaxy S6 Powered by Android", booting into recovery simply does not work.
I have tried to extract and flash boot image, found in the stock firmware.
I couldn't find any bootloader while googling.
Any tips? Cheers for your time.

Edit:
Successfully flashed the firmware downloaded with SamFirm, same results.
It boots up and gets tuck at "Samsung S6 Edge Powered by Android" screen.
Upon trying to boot into recovery by holding Power + Home + Volume Up, nothing happens.
I have to mention that shutting down the phone while holding down only the Power button, does not work.
In order to shut it down, I have to hold Power + Home + Volume Down and once the screen goes black and gets ready to enter Download Mode, I just release the buttons and it just remains off.
When you connect it to the charger does it show the battery icon with the percentage? Try booting it into recovery from that state. If it doesn't work try it again for a few more times. Try booting to recovery from download mode. Try it when it's off (repeat everything a few times). Try multiple and various combinations to get into recovery. My brother had a similar case with his S7. He needed to reach the recovery menu to clear the cache to fix the issue. We tried accessing recovery from various modes (download mode, recovery mode, charging mode...) and it eventually worked. After clearing the cache the phone worked

This is exactly why I've been trying to do for the past month.
Seems like it might work, but all I need to do is reach recovery mode.
Edit: To answer your question, no, it does not show the battery percentage anymore.
It goes straight to the Samsung Galaxy S6 edge boot screen.

Try to trigger recovery mode the very second you exit download mode. Repeat it a few times

I've been trying really hard for days, I don't think its gonna make it.
My method was pretty straight forward, upon restarting from Download Mode, I just switch the buttons really fast, but it ends up in Samsung S6 Edge screen.

Did you tick the re-partition box in odin? Try doing that. If it still fails I think you will need to wait untill the battery dies out, connect it to the charger and try to boot to recovery

I am in the process of trying this method.
I have received a few different errors and I am documenting myself on how to fix them and what's the cause.
I'll be back with updates.
Edit:
Whenever I am trying to flash with re-partition ticked, I receive the following error.
Fallback Link ( remove spaces ):
Code:
imgur . com /a/MHfc1kh
I have tried multiple fixes over the internet, but none worked.
Meanwhile, flashing without that box ticked, works flawlessly without any errors, but upon rebooting it just gets stuck at the classic samsung s6 edge bla,bla screen.
Edit2:
I just realized it is just the old HOME binary.
But I am not aware of how to download the new home model binary.
Sorry if I don't make any sense, it can be seen in the photo.

It looks like odin is having issues. Try using different versions of odin
Was this issue ever resolved? I have the same problem and nothing seems to work
Hi,
i dont know if the problem is solved but i have a possible solution for that issue!!!
Please do not use SamFirm v_0.3.6 it show you a wrong Firmware with just 1,9 Gb size.
Use the SamFirm v_0.3.4 it will download the right one with over 2,4 Gb size!!!!!!!!!!
The following is the wrong with just 1,9 Gb
SM-G925F_1_20180703185101_v1t4vfz117.zip.enc4
The right one with 2,4 Gb is:
SM-G925F_1_20180716174114_hxg9p8nitx_fac important that 20180716174114
I hope that would help you to get you phone running

I have an S6 Edge, that does not boot.
I successfully flashed a stock firmware with Odin, but after restarting it simply gets stuck at "Samsung Galaxy S6 Powered by Android", booting into recovery simply does not work.
I have tried to extract and flash boot image, found in the stock firmware.
I couldn't find any bootloader while googling.
Any tips? Cheers for your time.

Did you manage to solve this issue?
I got a friend's Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge SM-G925F with the same issue - it's stuck in boot (the initial screen with the writing "Samsung Galaxy S6 edge powered by android").
Things I tired:
Flashing the latest firmware
Flashing the latest firmware with a PIT file
Flashing the 2nd most new firmware
Entering recovery mode to wipe cache and data - but it's not accessible from the boot screen or the download mode
Charging the phone and then try flashing again (since there's no battery indication - so just in case there isn't enough)

Screen Frozen on startup screen(SAMSUNG M31S powered by android)black screen after

Hi there.
So the phone's screen is frozen at the startup Samsung M31S powered by android screen.
The phone does boot up and I can use it the touch works but the screen is still showing the first logo.
I have enabled usb debugging using talkback and I can use an app called Vysor on my pc to see the screen
The phone works just fine but the screen is frozen and when the phone goes to sleep or I press the lock/power button
the screen goes black but when I press it again its still black. I have to force restart and it then shows the first logo screen.
Download mode and Recovery work just fine and the screen does show them correctly
but whenever I try to boot it to system its frozen on the first logo. I also installed twrp recovery it works.
Because I unlocked the bootloader instead of frozen Samsung M31S powered by android screen the screen is frozen at
the "your device has unlocked bootloader press power to continue.) The phone boots up fine but the screen is frozen
and goes black when I press lock/power button or leave it to sleep just like normal but it doesn't come back when I press the button again.
I flashed stock rom using ODIN. It has the same issue. Its on android 11 U3 binary. I can't use combination factory binary(I'm getting please get approval to use factory binary(PIT).
I can't tell what the problem is. Screen works and touch but gets frozen before it boots to system, but does work fine in recovery stock or custom(twrp) and download mode.
The main board works too it boots I can use it just fine using my pc to see the screen.
Let me know if you can explain what's going on and what can be done.
EDIT: In the recovery logs I noticed this error as well unable to set property ro.boot time.init.mount.cache so that might be a clue.
Thanks!
Android device can get booted into
Recovery
Fastboot ( AKA Download )
Sideload
EDL
Normal ( read: Android OS )
mode.
My guess is your phone's Android OS completely got corrupted for whatever reason, hence device won't boot into Normal mode

The thing is it does boot up I can use it just fine with the pc. Its just the frozen screen. I think its hardware problem. Board or screen or both who knows. All I know is that it worked fine then one day it turned off. It didn't want to turn on. Then using Odin the phone was flashed with stock rom and it behaves like this. Anyway to confirm the faulty part? The warranty cannot be claimed because the front glass has a tiny crack but it worked for 6 months like that...

Perform a clean flash, not just selecting BL AP CP CSC. You want to erase older NAND and re partiton it.
Code:
# Disclaimer
#
# I'm not responsible for further damage done to your device
#
# You have been warned
1. In odin selcet fimware tar.md5 file by BL AP CP CSC
2. Go in to PIT tab and extract CSC.tar.md5 fimware file and select .pit file in odin
3. Go in to opitions and make sure that NAND ERASE and re-partition are both on.
You can try to perform a SBL upgrade too.
I don't think it is a hardware releated thing because you said booting in to download, twrp works just fine.
And something else, in the picture you attched where the phone is in download mode. It shows OEM LOCK: ON L. Download mode reports that the bootloader is locked but you get stuck in the logo partition that give you a warning for PBL beeing unlocked?
And you triggered somehow triggerd PERENORMAL MODE?

I followed your steps. The flash went well but the phone's screen is still stuck at the your device's bootloader is unlocked(because I did unlock it, before it was stuck on first M31S powered by android) How do you perform SBL upgrade I don't see that option in ODIN 3.14

No that was before the FRP lock was on. I was able to unlock it using talkback. Now it says checking and OEM: OFF(U) (because I did a full stock flash it says prenormal bc it performed a factory reset if I finish the setup(enable usb debuging etc) and boot back in download mode it would say checking ofc)

Could this be a battery issue? Download mode and recovery don't use too much current maybe the battery is the problem. I will try accubattery and see the stats. (4.2v 89% charged seems normal) Let me know what else to try. I wlll upload a video for you too see exactly how it works.

Are you trying to downgrade SW REV or upgrade. If you are upgradeing you need to set the PIT file in PIT tab. Downgradeing is a differnt thing.

No I just want to flash the factory binary firmware to see if it will behave differently. Because the phone's bootloader is on U3 I can only use U3 factory binary so they are both the same. It won't flash because I need token from samsung servers to be able to flash factory binary( they added this security after the S10 launch)

Then what have you flashed before.
I've uploaded a YouTube video. I replaced logo.jpg from param.bin with my yellow image to test the colors and as you can see it shows some green, same green as in twrp so ye its the display most likely.
EDIT: After flashing the PrishKernel the screen is stuck but after sleep I can wake up the screen and at the bottom where the navigation buttons are there is some noise type of image the rest of the screen is black. And its responsive if I press power button the bottom part turns on and off.
