Accessing Linux Terminal In Chromebook Guest Mode - Chromebooks

I was wondering if anyone knows how to do this because I'm trying to learn how to program but I want to only do so using the guest mode of my chromebook. If anyone has any tips on how to run linux from Chromebook guest mode it would be greatly appreciated thanks.

[Q] Rooting Gtablet with a Mac

Does anybody know how to root a gtablet using a mac computer.
I have searched through several websites and gone through the instructions, and
now am stuck in clockworkmod.
I next tried to nvflash, but get stuck at the stage where you go into apx mode and can't do this instruction:
Click on computer icon-->Properties --->Device Manager -->right click APX and choose update driver.
Is it just a matter of finding the mac equivalent instruction and if so, what is it?
I have thought about turning my mac into a windows machine and then going through the instructions, but this requires partitioning my computer into part windows and part mac- which i want to avoid because it involves decreasing the mac memory portion. Another option is just borrowing a friend's PC to root my computer.
Any other suggestions? Thank you!
There is no Mac native nvflash. I use Ubuntu Linux running in VirtualBox. It doesn't require partitioning your Mac just set up a virtual drive for it and it has the added benefit of not needing special drivers for APX mode.

Motorola Phone Portal USB Linux?

Has anyone gotten this to work, or come close? Wifi over work really isn't an option..
Switching to phone portal gives me a srX device, none of the settings give me any type of usb interface.
I've done searching but haven't found any threads discussing USB moto phone portal for linux, i'd be willing to help figure this out.
arch/gentoo/lfs/ubuntu user.
Are you trying to use it as a Mass Storage Device under linux? Make sure you have the following working under your linux installation. Scroll down to the linux section.
http://developer.motorola.com/docstools/library/Installing_MOTODEV_Studio_for_Android/
No, I can mount it as storage no problem.
I want the web portal you can use with Windows. Where I can view text messages, etc from a browser.
My main work pc is linux, as are all my home PC's. I don't like the idea of using WiFi for this at home, and it's simply not an option to have WiFi running at work.
I tried installing the motorola suite under wine to no success.
If I could get the phone to be in the state it is when it's connected to a windows PC(serving that web interface), I could manually configure the usb0 interface, bridge, and connect?
any linux guys been working on this?

[Q] Android external display

Hi,
First at all I apologise for posting this topic here, I know that it is not in the correct forum, but I am not able to post in the developers forum... and dam it, I am a senior developer!
This is my scenario: I have a Nexus 4 rooted and I am running Ubuntu (desktop version, not Ubuntu Touch) on my device chrooting it.
To get access to my Ubuntu installation I can use ssh (command line) or VNC (desktop environment, in my case LXDE). However, I'd like to automatically run Ubuntu when I connect my device to an external monitor, something similar to "Ubuntu for Android".
Thanks to the new Android 4.2 "Secondary Displays" API I can detect when an external display is connected but I don't know if I can access to this display from my Ubuntu chroot directly or I'll need to continue using VNC.
So, my question is:
Is there any way to access my second display from my chrooted Ubuntu and configure X11 to output on this display?
Thank you very much in advance

[Q] Install native Linux onto a Lenovo A2109 tablet?

After a lot of Googling I've found a few tutorials for different devices, but a general lack of anything on any subject at all for the A2109. I'd really like to natively install a desktop Linux distro (Ubuntu seems like the best option) onto the tablet but don't have a huge idea how. If anybody knows how to do this, as in any existing tutorials or how to build my own version or whatever, I'd really appreciate it.
I have an 8GB SD to go with the tablet and access to both a Windows and Ubuntu machine.
