OK I have searched the forums here to no end, watched the videos about the procedures to do so, and the links to buy one, But I still don't see any indication that this mod is for a dual camera setup! Meaning I see in the vid's of people pulling out the old one [camera] and replacing it with the other one for FFC capabilities! Period!
So is there no way to acquire and install a dual camera setup on the T959 Galaxy Vibrant? Asking because the need to take pictures from the back is just as important as to snap photos from the Forward position, and to just have ONLY a FFC camera will seriously hamper the ability to snap pics when in say a crash or freight claim etc! The Nexus S phone has this setup, so can the dual hardware be installed on the Galaxy from that phone and then the proper driver/ROM to support it? Or are they two completely different hardware interfaces? [Connection wise I'm asking] Or should I just ask if I completely overlooked this scenario and the MOD, And it is for dual cameras?
The mod appears to me for just changing the position from back to front, period! NO DUAL capabilities! If I missed finding the thread for this question, many apologies to the forum!
You must be confused, the FFC mod definitely still retains the back camera. Only issue you get with the back camera is banding in low light situations.
You must be on drugs, blind, or 12. Either way if you watch the video the guy uses both cameras. Also if you look at the camera its both cameras in one piece.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
The new FFC camera contains both cameras. One faces still out the back, and other out the front. The front one is very small compared to the rear.
It's an all in one unit. I have one that I still need to actually put into my phone. I can take pics and show you....
ALSO... geez guys, you can be so very hard on people. He was mistaken or just didn't really look or read. This flaming is one thing that makes it hard for people to get the guts to even post if they are new here. Take it easy on the guy. He's new....

Reply and Quote from Subzerold: "You must be on drugs, blind, or 12."
You know I might be going blind as my eyesight after 57 years is getting kinda bad, However to say such an arrogant, rude ass remark, is just plain immature, and truly shows what a POS asshole you really are, and to think your in a grown body with the maturity of a 12 YO is pathetic on your part! And I suppose you gave 22 years of service to your country in Corp like I did? I seriously doubt it!
So look who's calling the kettle black here! Dickweed! Oh and BTW if you don't have anything positive or helpful to say, then why did you reply at all? MIHO!
Anyway many thanks to eminembdg and thegreatcity for their helpful insight to answering and clarifying my questions, I now have the data I need to proceed with this MOD and knowing I'm not assuming anything that would've led to failure and disappointment! Oh and BTW eminembdg is right, its people like I just pointed out, that makes us newbies afraid to ask a question especially after I did do my due diligence, and I never saw them mention once or saw where they had left the back camera in, and they didn't mention that it was a dual camera setup replacement, and if they did, then I simply made a mistake and didn't pick up on it! OMG what a sin on my part subzerold! U must be perfect at 12 yo and know everything! must be lonely being perfect!
Anyway Moderators please consider this thread resolved and closed as I got my info from the two contributors who have respect for us inexperienced modders who try hard to elevate their knowledge here from people who do know and are pleasant to deal with!
glad you got your answer, and that I could of been of assistance. You could press the thanks button on my post?
Good luck on your mod, I'll be doing mine probably on Tuesday when I'm off from work. Should turn out fine as it is a pretty easy mod as I've seen and read.
Hope this bad experiance with posting doesn't stop you from being part of the Android community.
Dude you need to calm down, even if you were my best friend i would call you those things if you told me you just watched a video and didn't see something. I wasn't being disrespectful and I answered your question. If i wanted to be an asshole i would have just called you a dumb ass for asking such a dumb ****ing question! Who in the world would replace their 8mp rear camera just to have a vga front facing camera? What kind of dumb ass can't read the forums and find out that the only issue with installing a ffc is the banding in the REAR CAMERA in low light situations. If I was an asshole like some of the people on these forums my comments would have been something similar to those. But i didn't i was just trying to be funny grumpy ass old man.
Subzerold, the thing is he's NOT your bestfriend, THAT'S why you can't call him those things. You're supposed to respect strangers. Seriously.
I saw on ultralinx, that there were pictures of bokeh photography taken by the galaxy s II camera. Does anyone know how they did that? I have no experience in photography, but want to try it out.
Tilt shift photography could also work if anyone knows how.
i heard about this website one time....i think it was called google.com. just type in what you are looking for and like magic it will show you cool stuff....
How did you get so funny, you aren't funny at all? I obviously looked at multiple sites, but those are for dslr cameras. Tilt shift photography is also hard to recreate without actually tilting the lens, so I wanted to know their trick.

You should probably ask on a photography board. It seems people on this board know more about using Google than they know about photography.

People here can get an attitude. I wish I could help with your question but I'd also say post on a photography board or search Google a little harder.
Sorry to see these guys get an attitude with you.

I use camera 360 for tilt shift. There's also a web app for Google Chrome that makes tilt ****ft but I haven't tried it yet.
I'm no photographer but I would experiment with macro to shoot bokeh pictures.

You did not see "bokeh" pictures come from a Galaxy S II - if you saw something claiming to have bokeh, it was Photoshopped. (Unless someone put a macro lens in front of the lens.)
"bokeh" is the quality of out-of-focus points in a photograph. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bokeh
On a mobile phone, the sensor is so small that depth of field is insanely deep - it becomes nearly impossible to have anything that is out of focus. (Nearly all of the time, blurry photos are due to camera shake, not focus problems.)

Bingo. Bokeh is achieved with specific aperture and exposure settings impossible to get with a fixed lens camera like that on a phone. And true tilt-shift photos are done with an actual tilt-shift lens, not by holding the camera a certain way. This is why I responded the way I did. I've been a pro magazine photog since the early '90s having learned with film cameras. Digital has all but ruined the craft.

Software like the current version of Photoshop Elements gives you the ability to create bokeh effect. The small sensor size of most compact cameras (especially phone cameras) precludes getting true optical bokeh.

Yes it is question... but so what?. I think the attitudes of some here are a lot worse than a question outside of the Q&A section. Heck, a lot of the posts outside of the Q&A section are questions. If that bothers someone, they can post a simple suggestion to try the Q&A section.
Vignette can also simulate tilt-shift. If you want blurry photos you might as well just scratch the hell out of your lens, get it all dirty, and call it close enough for jazz.

See, I didn't know/don't know what aperture is... So, thanks for the info (especially since you're a pro and all) . It was probably Photoshopped anyway.

I could have easily explained it to him in my first post, but as you can see from his last post about not knowing what aperture is, it would have been a waste of time. My subsequent detailed reply was to confirm what Entropy said rather than to impress or one-up anyone. Get over yourself.
This is the first device that I've owned the has taken so long with not much sign or interest on the custom development side of things, not even much chatter about it.
Why is there such a lack of interest in the G5? Is it more complicated than other devices or have LG not released the source or something (I'm no developer at all, just a severe flashaholic and am having severe withdrawals since buying this device. Not a single ROM flashed in months lol).
Thanks guys

Beacuse LG locked all the bootloaders except h850 which is only for some parts of Europe ..Hope that lg will change their minds about this
Sent from my HTC 10 using Tapatalk
The H850 is not the only one with unlocked bootloader. H830 also has unlocked bootloader. Also, i wouldnt go making a lot of demands since moderators are watching. And "Beggers " get the worst out of them (with reason) (just suggesting). Also, since Im not a developer (yet), I decided to hold back and not buy the phone until there is at least 2 builds released. (if another phone dont catch my eye first, which it has already happened, S**t lol) but yeah, also patience is something you will have to endure. There is currently a handful of devs working on CM during their free time. As for now, people will have to use the "Fluence HD" patch if they want to flash something to mod their phones. In addition to that, there are some other developers that claims they have started to built their own roms and are currently testing them in their phones. But there are some files they still missing to compile. ( i have to find the post for each one again)
In conclusion.... yeah, you will definitely have to wait, and begging/requesting/or anything you do with the purpose to make it go faster won't help at all. After all, Developers also have a life, and they are doing this with their free time.
I'm not requesting anything St all, I was just curious as to what the issue was but now I know ☺ thanks for the detailed explanation.
I wasn't sure weather it was even worth while unlocking and putting custom ROMs on etc until it was all in motion but I might just dive in and try the Fluence HD.
Thanks again guys

I think i saw a couple of others in another threads but you get the ideas. Its not that there is not interest on building roms for the G5, but that there are missing things to copile. But it is better that they take their time building a rom than to release a heavily buggy/unstable rom that might hard brick your device for good. At least that's what i think. (even though i dont currently own the G5 lol)
yea i suppose that makes sense. nothing worse than getting stuck in a boot loop and your computer not even detecting the device lol.
I love the G5 and dont see where all the hate came from in the Q&A section, cant wait to get flashing this bad boy lol

Well, part of the issue has been the signifcant amount of deffective G5's that have been sold and return again. And misleading infos provided by LG itself. For the time being i will keep an eye on the G5, the moto z force when it comes out, and... If samsung galaxy s7 reduces the price and developers achieve cm, then i might keep an eye on that one too. There is nothing worst that college sucking up all your money leaving you with only one shot at buying a new smartphone. If it comes deffective , you are practically done lol

Im not aware of defective G5's. I mean, not more than any other new phone on the market. Remind you the S7 Edge also has this screen issue with thr purple vertical lines..it just gets less publicity because reviewers like Samsung. I also disagree with LG "misleading" info.. It is a metal phone with paint, still metal. I mean, the S7E's metal body is covered with sensitive glass and no one cares.

Yeah but they upon release they never specified that it had that coating on top of the metal. And that is not giving entire specifications about the phone. And with deffects (in this occasion) im referring to external defects. While screen might qualify as external, there are things even more external than the screen itself. Many have reported a huge gap between the modular part and the phone. Among other issues. But if you want to talk about internal issues, there is a vast amount of people who have reported their phones dying on them, or excessive overheating, or screen bleeding., and thats not only on XDA. XDA is just a small percent of the population on internet. The rest of the population matter. Yes, samsung have deffects but LG flagships have a history of deffects that goes way back up to even the G2. Dont get me wrong, im considering on buying the LG G5, but thats not my only option. I have also in mind the Moto Z force, and the galaxy s7. And hell, why not htc 10 too lol. But base on how LG is handling things (such as they havent released some of the modules for USA, and some modules having problems to work with the device and similar thing, it just made me think that i believe that LG released the G5 kind of earlier than they should have. I have a G3, a galaxy s4, and a galaxy s5, and had a G4, and i had to exchange the G4 3 times to fine a good one, and then even that one died on me. The G3 has proven to be a stable one, with some people reporting that the screen sometimes develop problems in the touch areas. But mine has remined faithful. Now the s4 and s5 i still have no issues with them, except the g5 with a little burn in image, but that was on me because i should have put the status bar hidden. Anyway, you get my point. The history speak by itself. It is just like the history of the oneplus devices. Which are now trying to make it better

Well, let's agree to disagree about the paint.
There was never a huge gap on the G5. Some have small tiny gap which barely counts as a defect. I have a tiny gap on my phone and it's nonsense.
"huge" gap:
https://9to5google.files.wordpress.com/2016/03/unspecified.jpg
I agree about the LCD bleed, but you will only see it when turning the brightness to max and looking at a black screen in a dark room...which, for me, is..never. LCD's have that quite often.
Haven't seen dying G5's and I'm not aware of excessive overheating that wasn't caused by some app running in the background.
Not sure what was wrong with the G2, the best phone I ever owned. I had two and both still rocking perfect. Only got the G5 for the best camera.
I had issues with the G3 (I think of the G3 as the worst in the G2-G5..resolution was too high for the SOC, too much sharpening on the screen, resolution hit the battery life) but most were solves with software updates.
The G4 has that board problem, yep. I have a G4 at home and it's an amazing phone ..I guess I got one from a good batch. In any case LG replaces faulty G4's (at least in my country) for free.
I think you meant G4 and G5 at the end there.
So.. no.. I get what you're saying but I don't think it's true \ just.
Which G5 screen burn.. can you post a photo please so I can prevent it on mine?
Which Onelpus history though? My brother and mother both have Oneplus (1st one) and they are just great phones. I heard some issues with the Oneplus 2 ..I guess due to the OxygenOS change.
I do remember some issues with the touch sensitivity on the first Oneplus but they fixed it with software updates.
But really, you can go over to any phone's forum on XDA and you will find issues. Electronics have issues. People with no issues don't sign up and write threads about how everything is OK. You only read thread by users with problems. It's not LG exclusive.
If I were you, I would get the S7 Edge. Build aesthetics seems important to you and although the HTC 10 has awesome build, I can't find a reason to get it over the S7.

There cannot be a battle between opinions because in the end everybody will choose their own sides. All that i have said is based on experiences, and base of what i have read too, not only in XDA but digging around google which means thousands and thousands of different post on different websites, in addition to video in youtube, and more. So, let me skip the whole stuff to the last part of your last post, Aesthetics is not more important than functionality to me, which is why i'm strongly siding to Moto Z Force more than S7, HTC 10, LG G5 or even the Oneplus 3 (which have proven to be a good phone with some minor exceptions). After all, I always put a cover on my phone anyways, so, the so called "premium quality feeling" that people often are looking for, to me is useless since i use a cover. I use a phone to call, to use its functionality, not to rub its body against my skin to see how nice it feels every 5 seconds/minutes/hours in a given day. But i also like phones which try to be as limitless as possible. Which significantly reduces my list... Anyway, if we were going to argue about the matter it would take about 5 pages of XDA and we would probably still disagree with each other soo, lol I will just say that my experiences are not your experiences, and yours are not mines, therefore nothing that we say can be the "100% true" about each device we have ever touched before.
It will probably be a while yet before we get any usable CM roms, customised stock is great so far. We should get some soon though as I believe some devs like Xpirt are getting the device
Making a rom is not as easy as you might think . But otherwise, the phone is really good and the Stock Rom is perfect. Would like to root without unlocking the bootloader but you can not have everything
Well, i as Dev and ROM Cooker have to say that I'm really sad about the fact that there's almost no Development on the G5.
We have almost all needed source to compile a booting CM13 Build, but no one is creating a Thread for Public Testing. In my Eyes that would help alot...
Custom ROMs based on Stock are another Story. It looks like that no one is able to get a working Updater Script/Meta-inf.
Shouldn't be that hard for a skilled LG Device Dev to make one. But where are all the G2/3/4 Owners? Are they still on a old G Device? No interests on a G5? I dont know! But it's a really sad Story ...
I've found so much nice stuff in the H850 Firmware but some things need to be fixed and I've no clue how. So I can just hope that there comes soon some Development on this Device, which means more Developers and more success with creating ROMs and Modifications.
Fingers crossed! I love this Device and I don't want to sell i just of Lack of Development...

Same here. But right now I like the device with your Fluence HD and the Aosp mod. It runs very well!
Of course I am eagerly waiting for Alucard's kernel (loved his SGS4 kernels!) and AOSP or cm.
But patience is a virtue and I can wait.
Also, as the price of the g5 is dropping I hope that more developers get on board.
I would gladly contribute. Unfortunately, I'm on vzw.

Youtube is barely another small percentage of internet's population. Doing that would mean only to stick in one side out of millions. And arguing as in "argument " is exactly whwt we do on XDA. It doesnt necessary has to be bad argument. However, an argument is only worth it if you can feel that you have a chance to persuade or proof your point. But neither of us can do. To start looking for all thr comments, post, videos, blogs, etc..... It would be a suicide to do that. That, and that brains can only retain so much before it throws the information to a deeper part of the brain.
That's it, not much else to add...anyone knows/heard anything on this, an update would be grand. I've not been able to dig up
nor waterboard anyone on this topic! Lol (ty)
p.s. I'm aware that many patrons of our Pixel 6 series are still plagued with ongoing issues, but a friend inside said that's not necessarily it (the cause for delay)?
No idea. Sadly no communication from Google as well apart from "coming soon" since beta 1.
GSI is showing in "DSU Loader" but we are not able to boot into that.
I am pretty disappointed with how the updates are being handled for p6 series.

GSI is showing in "DSU Loader" but we are not able to boot into that.
I am pretty disappointed with how the updates are being handled for p6 series.
I am having a Samsung kind of experience, w.r.t. software updates, after buying p6

Me too, and I'm one of the lucky ones that's not having any issues other than G-teams lack of information & timing on their updates!

Lucky you.
Not even rainbow effect on screen (if viewed at an angle) and green tint when viewing the screen in a dark room with dark mode enabled?

Impossible.
All pixel 6 have the same screens and all suffer from rainbow effects and green tints on gray backgrounds.

makes sense, & I'm very colorblind so not something that's been catching my attention.
It depends on your ability to spot or ignore these details but it gets on my nerves tbh
This is probably the worst amoled panel I've had in my entire life..

Every OLED panel I've ever had has had green tint in a dark room with dark mode.
People really need to stop going and looking for issues. If you have to tell someone how to look for it, it's not an issue.
What is the purpose of starting this thread when there is already a thread on this subject?
Just curious, because I try to read all threads in the Pixel 6. And it gets annoying with this type of nonsense.
Seaching and reading benefits everyone.
Would you be signing up for android 12L beta? Why?
Given android 12L beta 1 is due in few days would you be giving it a try on your P6? What would be your main reason for this? For me: Dynamic color on boot animation :P May be better dynamic color on UI. Just like to stay on top of updates :D

That's complete bs dude.. Don't try and justify your purchase.. I've NEVER had the green tint on any amoled device. Period. Maybe some light bleed on back lit devices. But nothing like this. I'm sick of everyone's bias at trying to defend this bs. "Well other phones have had this n that problem before too", like how low are you gonna lower the bar for Google?

Can you post a screen shot or a link of the issues that you are having. That way someone can help you sort it out.
And I thought I was Nutz.
There are people in this thread causing trouble and do not even have a pixel 6.

My $1099 12 Pro Max has a green tint if I put in the exact conditions you describe. So does my Pixel 3 XL. The only *OLED device I've ever had that I'm certain didn't have it was my Samsung Captivate.
My point is that I'm sick and tired of seeing people tell people to go look for issues. If they didn't see it before, it wasn't an issue until you made it one.

It doesn't matter if I have one or not, I'm going to call out stupid BS when I see it. Having people check for insignificant issues they didn't even know about just makes people who were previously happy with their purchase unhappy because once you see something, you can never unsee it. People need to stop spoiling other people's happiness. Like this thread wasn't even started about the "defects" of the device, they were brought up to someone who just finished saying they were happy with their device! It's ridiculous.

Absolutely not. Don't act like I'm the exception here. Just go to both the pixel 6 and p6pro forums right here on XDA and you'll see endless threads with the same problems over and over again. How am I supposed to show you a screenshot of my awful signal, color banding, green tint & other defects etc? Don't be ignorant

I'm sick of people like you who can't be objective and see the issues for what they are and have to push your little self conscious bias on us who ARE having issues. Just because some may not be having issues doesn't mean the rest aren't. And who's to say those that "aren't having issues" really aren't, or maybe they just haven't noticed OR just prefer to ignore it. Of course there's people like you and vandy who completely deny that there are issues. "Uh the green tint is a sweet feature, what you mean"

I'm not denying that there are issues. My problem is people like you who think it's your job to tell someone who's happy with their phone about the issues it likely has. Stop ruining people's enjoyment of the device just because you demand perfection. You came into a thread that wasn't about device issues and told someone who just finished saying they were happy with the device that it's likely defective. Just knock it off. Keep your misery to yourself and threads designated for it. I'm not going to reply to this any further because I don't want to make work for the mods but it's just not cool to ruin other people's experience with their devices.

Ruining people's happiness lol. Grow up dude. If there's an issue with my device I didn't know about, I sure as hell would like to know about it, whether it affects me or not. If the problems don't bother you that's great, kick rocks. But people should and have the right to know that these issues are prevalent and widespread. If they aren't affected or choose not to care, that's great. But at least they have the information. Your argument is weak sauce
In the past, Lenovorola phones have usually seemed to garner a large dev community. Given thay this phone is not only a flagship, but also has a common Qualcomm SoC, why is there so little development behind it? Is there some proprietary blob absence that I've missed in my research?
