Always On Display battery drain - Xiaomi Mi Note 10 Lite Questions & Answers

Hello guys, I wanted to discuss the AOD battery drain for this device. For me, it drains around 8-10% battery in 7-8 hours. Without AOD, the drain is 2-3% for the same time. Is this normal? Also, is there any way to configure the aod to turn off automatically after 10 seconds and to turn back on if the screen is tapped once? I had this option in my previous phone (galaxy a70) so i was wondering if this phone has it as well.

[Q] Sleep mode battery discharge rate on different ROMs?

Let's collect some statistics regarding battery discharge rate when tablet suppose to be asleep, like overnight.
I'll start:
ROM - TnT lite 4.2, WiFi On, BT Off, in 10 hours 14% charge drop - 1.4% per hour.
with WiFi Off - around 1% per hour.
I was killing all apps on background before going asleep but this does not affect discharge rate too much, maybe 0.2% and as well might be just measuring error.
What is your tablet's discharge rate?
vegan 5.1.1 clean install, no additional kernel/OC tweaks
lost 30% over 6.5hr of sleep. battery usage shows very little idle time and alot of "android system". i wonder if that means something stayed awake and kept the tab from sleeping or what. o, and wifi was on and awake the whole time too
anyway to put this thing to sleep and last a few days like my HTC mytouch3g when i put it into airplane mode? that phone would drop to the lowest clock speed and sleep with very little battery drain

Why not just power it all the way off? Deep sleep is essentially Off anyway, minus the bootup time.
Cold start is about 50 seconds. When starting from standby - almost instant.
It would be nice if our GTablet can go into standby and don't lose charge with that rate.

Nice, but impossible. Just plug it in overnight. If you want it "always on" you can expect about 16 hours of standby with 4-6 hours of use mixed in. I'm so used to daily charging it doesn't even bother me anymore. Just really happy this thing goes all day on wifi without deep sleep... good enough.
Well, I am inclined to think that this is a software problem (Android OS). Xoom with HC does ok when in sleep mode. Someone say 3%-4% overnight.

Only way it would do that is deep sleep. As in, nearly off - everything powered down except ram, CPU halted.
That's essentially the same as putting your laptop to sleep, vs power down.
The GTab's deep sleep sucks. Not sure what's wrong with it, but it's below the level of android. So it could be a firmware issue. I'm happy with the 2-3% per hour drain when "on" but screen off, connected to wifi, able to generate alerts and alarms.
So, my interest was piqued
I use pershoot's UV/OC kernel, keep wifi on all the time, and use softlocker to make sure my gtab *never* deep sleeps. This is on Vegantab-ginger.
I installed batterymonitor widget, and am collecting data.
First interesting tidbit, my "screen off, but wifi on/not really asleep" power drain is 125mA
Given the 3650mAH rating of the battery, that gives me 29.2 hours total standby time in this state.
Working backwards, that's a drain of just under 3% per hour.
You're actually seeing MUCH WORSE than that, at 4.6% per hour (30% over 6.5 hours) so I agree with you, your software is doing something very bad. You can get nearly 50% better battery life by using gingerbread, pershoot's kernel, and keeping it from going into deep sleep

Any more details? Number of hours on standby? ROM version? Was it deep sleeping (wifi off, clock/time not updated until a few seconds after power on?)
Assuming 8 hours or so sleeping, this is much closer to the expected 1.125%/hour discharge rate for "deep" sleep, or about 90 hours total on deep sleep standby.

if that was indeed true (that you manage to get your tab to sleep for 8 hrs and only losing 10%) then i want whatever you got. I want my tab to be able to sleep for 3-4 days, even if it mean having to settle for JUST 1.0 Ghz
The lowest I've seen so far in batterymonitor widget is ~108ma draw (screen off, 214mhz clock, wifi off)... if the thing goes into "deep sleep" then batterymonitor (and everything else) stops dead, since the cpu is halted - you'd need to poke it inside to see what the load is when deep sleeping.
108mA gets you to 33 hours. To get to 72 hours you need to get the load down to about 50mA. That's the budget to keep the ram chips powered, and the on/off buttons
Battery drain with ext3 partition and S2E?
Is there a perfect way to check what's draining your battery? Recently I've been noticing that my battery consumes almost 20% of charge during night, whereas it used to only eat about 5% in my previous installation of CM7.
First install of CM 7.0.3 - Good battery life, night drain is only about 5-8%.
Second install of CM 7.0.3 - Worse battery life, night drain is about 25%.
The main difference in the second install in that I have made an ext3 partition in the sd card and I am using S2E and have moved some apps to the sd card. Will this consume more battery?
Had a look at the battery history in spare parts, and I see that the partial wake usage by Maps and K9 mail topped the list. Uninstalled both to see it they were the issue. I have Juice defender plus where I have configured data off hours from 12:30 am to 6 am. Still it drinks battery. Any thoughts?

[Q] Display is draining battery

any of you guys having problem with serious battery draining issue?
sometimes when i check my battery usage, it shows display is eating up most of my battery juice, it can go up as high as 80%!
I've always set my brightness to the dimmest, off auto-brightness, Standard screen mode
I even try to reboot my phone and the display is still draining my battery
Display is not draining your battery. Time up after a reboot/unplug from charger is the base for all those info.
In your case, up time is about 10 minutes. 58% display means your screen was on for about 6 minutes.
Reboot your phone before you sleep, and let the phone sleep. Next day, check how much is Display using. It will be very less.
It's a big screen...
Big screens use a lot of power...
I don't think there's anything to worry about here, got the same stuff going on.

Battery issues

Since Jelly Bean release ive noticed that the battery life hasnt really improved for me. Actually its gone to worse. Normally i dont use my tablet very active, so there were cases when i had 10 days between charges. No, even without using, the battery holds maximum of 4 days.
I dont have wifi lock, i have disabled backup, only have synchronisation of gmail and drive, but i had those on before aswell.
What i see in the battery graph is that even when wifi and display are off, something still wakes the tablet every 10-15 mins or so and drains the battery. In the stats it says that the "Standby mode" has the most usage...
Could anyone help me with some app to diagnose that problem or share similar expiriences..

I resolved my battery problems using Wakelock Detect:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.uzumapps.wakelockdetector&hl=en
You might want to give it a try. Turned out that some badly written application was holding wake lock on my XTS and thus jeopardizing the battery life. I also use Battery Monitor Widget:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ccc71.bmw
It won't tell you source of the problems but it will tell you how much battery is drained when your device was sleeping.

Btw. for WLD enable advanced mode from settings. It was system process which was holding wake lock and by default, WLD does not show system processes at all (!!!).
batery life always been awfull on XTS it was't bad but it could last easy 3 day's on single charge if sony optimise it.
my nexus 7 i can easy achieve 2 day's on single charge maybe 3 day's and it only has like 4200 mah batery with wifi actualy staying on always.
now in standby only drains like 1% batery per 3 hours
XTS always drained 2% per hour for me in standby

Wtf, that would drain the battery in two days?! Definetly some program has wake loke on your device. I havent done any measurements, but I think I've left my device on my table for week and read E-mails every now and then without any charge and it still has some juice left!

Actually on ICS i had one time when i had 18 days of standby and i used the tablet occasionally
Update on thread:
I found out Google Maps was waking the sysem every 10-15 minutes to look for a location, even tho GPS and Wifi were off. I disabled Latitude and automatic locking on location and also disabled every location option possible (use wifi to lock location etc.) and now its better..

Mate 20 Pro Battery Draining Issue

Hi, I found out that my Mate 20 Pro batteey isn't as solid as advertised. The battery keep draining in standby mode. Yesterday, it dropped 9% in 8 hours of standby mode with WiFi on. However, the first few days the battery is very great but after 10 days of usage the battery performance dropped a lot ?. May I know is the AI allocation of power based on my usage pattern or the battery is faulty?
Looks like a rogue app...check the battery usage stats or install AccuBatttery to get full details.
Might have to restart in Safe mode to confirm it's an app.
Standby with Wi-Fi should be below 1%/hr unless some background activity goes nuts on you.
Try restarting the phone, i had the issue at some point, the switch from auto app management to manual, keeping just the apps i want. After the recent update(153) i switched back to auto. There is some issue with the app management, cause sometimes i lose just 1-2% of battery during the night, but sometimes 5-7%. Now i get an avarage of 36h+ of usage, and if not charging at 30-40% i could get more.
From brand new, my mate 20 pro drains about 12-13% if left overnight, also thought that was pretty bad

Severe idle battery drain

I got the phone yesterday, I set it up but haven't transferred my sim yet but I've noticed that the battery drain when idle is quite severe. I've only done the OnePlus transfer. And WiFi has always been on. But this battery drain is not got at all.
Can anyone please advise how to improve it. In fact , I had put it on battery saver mode and it still drained. For example at 10% decrease over 7 hours is not good. I expect a 1-2 % decrease overnight.

Try uninstalling OnePlus Switch. You don't need it if you've set up your device already.

This is just how this phone works, and I recommend you to not expect what you experienced before with your previous phone would happen on this phone. I don't know if one can use Greenify's aggressive doze function without rooting, but it definitely improved the battery drain overnight by a lot on my 7T Pro non-5G McLaren.
