Curtana recoveries - Redmi Note 9S / Note 9 Pro (Indian Model) Question

I have the 128GB/6GB Curtana 9S. Through some trial and error, I have successfully installed Havoc 3.7. Using LRTWRP. I had to download Redmi Note 9S Global Stable Recovery ROM and install that a few times to get it out of booting straight to fastboot mode.

Are there any other compatible recoveries for the Global 9S though? My biggest issue with LRTWRP is that you cannot do a full system backup (OS, apps, and settings). So it's a serious pain starting from scratch if something goes wrong where you have to setup everything from ground zero installing a ROM. Backing up the system partition would save so much time and effort.
LWTWRP is almost useless without system partition access.

Twrp and android 10 are not good friends yet. There are a few unofficial OPEN SORURCE twrp versions floating around each with different pros and cons. There are also a few twrp which are not open source and imo abit risky to use... Hopefully there will be a breakthrough recovery wise sometime soon

Android pie ROMs not working in redmi note 5

A month ago I tried installing Android 9.0 ROM and i got reboot loop after I did the phone setup. I tried different ROMs and everything had the same problem. Even twrp will also stop showing any files in the device and I need to change the file system and revert it back again then mount my phone to desktop and transfer the ROM. I was told that it was because of me not installing MIUI 10 before trying it. So today I installed MIUI 10 and tried installing lineage 16.0 and got the same problem. Phone starts going into reboot And recovery does not show any files!
Please help me from this hell! I'm hating this MIUI.

First of all I have to assume that you are sure that you have Redmi 5 plus (Vince) and not Redmi Note 5 Pro (Whyred), if this is the case let´s go to the next.
Any Miui rom encrypts data by default at least from oreo so no way to avoid this, if you flash a Miui rom then your data wont´be accesible and the next rom to be flashed you have to sideload it via adb (there are other ways).
I think you missed something here, if you flash a mui rom and over it a pie rom then there´s no way that your device reboots to system. You only have to flash firmware 8.1 from miui not the whole rom.
Start this from the scratch; I recommend OrangeFox recovery instead of TWRP so it has more features https://forum.xda-developers.com/re.../official-orangefox-recovery-project-t3807479
- Before to flash nothing In orangeFox recovery enable the options DM-verity and disable force encryption, you will find too options to keep OTA and others, check which you want.
- Flash the firmware miui 8.1 https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=11410963190603850663
- Flash the pie rom for vince (may not apply for a GSI pie)
- Flash the Gapps (if needed)
it´s all.
Just a tip; be careful with changing system of files at any time so if the process is cutted/interrupted for some reason your device could be seriously damaged.
it does. you just need to flash firmware file first.

Can I safely Flash a MIUI 9 ROM on a mobile that currently has MIUI 10?

My phone is stuck on boot and does not change this state, even if I successfully flash (through miFlash) existing latest ROM (same as it had before).
Could I through MiFlash install an official "MIUI 9 Global Stable", even if the existing ROM is more advanced ("MIUI 10 Global Stable")? Not sure if Xiami has placed limitations on this, and I could brick or permanently damage the mobile? My Bootloader is unlocked.
Thanks in advance
Anti rollback is not active on our redmi note 4, so you should not have any problems.

Thank you.
I have serious issues with my RN4XSD (unlocked) and I thought to do that might have affected the result, but it seems like my problems are of a different nature.
Basically, I am stuck on boot, and no matter what ROM I flash stays the same (even after flashing reported as successful), and every time I try to do TWRP (regular TWRP, Mido specific, RedWorlf, OrangeFox, and some others) it comes to the TWRP screen but it does not go pass that.

Either no root or no boot

Hey Guys,
Curious problem over here.
Since our russian friend of unbrick.ru unbricked my rolled back Mi8 Pro (UD) i face 2 differen problems.
When i install the official global rom of the 8Pro and then install Magisk on a unlocked bootloader i end up in a boot loop. Doesnt matter whether i try the dev or stable rom. Tried 9.5.30 and 9.5.23 aswell as 10.2.2 and 10.3.3
When i use on of the many custom MIUI roms like xiaomi.eu or mi-globe rom (those which are based on the chinese roms) i end up with the device starting but not loading the desktop. I just can see the bootscreen for hours.
Tried to reflash stock global rom in fastboot version aswell as recovery, wiped cache, dalvik, system etc.
Tried all the different ways but it always end up with the two problems.
Any ideas?

Procedure for flashing GSI roms (LineageOS)

Hey guys, I'm trying to install LineageOS GSI (arm64 A/B) on my Mi A3 and seem to be having some trouble getting the GSI to actually boot successfully.
I have already done my research both on XDA and elsewhere online, yet most threads focused on the device seem to be of little to no use and/or filled with spam replies that only serve to confuse people looking into this.
A quick note regarding the aforementioned threads:
I don't mean to sound disrespectful to the community, but honestly, bashing somebody over why they'd rather install anything but your own fav piece of software is completely ridiculous.
Without further ado, my case goes as follows:
I'm starting fresh with the latest stock firmware, after having unlocked my bootloader ofc (critical too), I've successfully installed TWRP, wiped, installed the system image and yet after rebooting I'm just greeted with good ol' Fastboot, at which point I either directly flash the stock firmware and try again or wipe my data and whatnot (through TWRP, if reinstalled) and still end up with Fastboot.
Therefore, I have to ask you guys:
Has anyone previously successfully installed any GSI rom on the Mi A3?
Did you flash the system img while on stock firmware or a previously flashed custom rom (ie Pixel Experience)?
Is there any need for any special patch similar to the ones used for MIUI based Xiaomi phones?
Did you face any other issues while trying to flash a GSI?
My intention is to eventually install microG using Nanodroid.
Thanks for asking. I was trying to flash Havoc, crDroid and MSM-Xtended Android 10 GSIs but I can't boot the phone.
I have flashed lots of GSIs in the past, but this is really intriguing me, I can't boot on Mi A3. Wiping or formatting data does not solve, neither Permissiver or Disable Dm-verity zips did the job... :crying:
I successfully bootet the LineageOS GSI yesterday. I was not coming from stock though. I think this process should work assuming you already bootet to TWRP:
1. flash the GSI image to system partition using TWRP
2. flash the TWRP installer to keep your recovery
3. (not sure if needed) flash no fde patch
4. optional: flash some other stuff like Magisk and gapps
5. wipe data and dalvik
I think it rebooted to recovery on my first try but worked after flashing everything again. I probably made some mistake on my first attempt but just make sure to try again before giving up.
Also there's this tutorial but it's not at all what I did to get it working:

Redmi Note 9S correct GAPP (Curtana)?

Redmi Note 9S Curtana / 6GB / 128GB
Currently, I have this version of TWRP installed:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/lrtwrp-curtana/files/recovery-redmi_note9s-3.4.1-10.0-b5.img
Havoc-OS-3.7
https://sourceforge.net/projects/ha...c-OS-v3.7-20200725-curtana-Official-GApps.zip
I would really like to get RR rom on this device. I downloaded this version:
https://get.resurrectionremix.com/?dir=ten/curtana
It boots fine, LTE and WiFi work fine without gapps, but once I boot back into TWRP, and install opengapp, it tries to boot into RR ... reboots again from the RR boot screen, and then boots straight into TWRP.
This is the Gapp I downloaded, which I think is the correct version.
open_gapps-arm64-10.0-nano-20200918.zip
Unless there a Curtana RR version that has Gapps baked in, I'd appreciate anyone with some ideas. Thanks.
No news regarding this topic?
About 3 weeks ago I ran into the very same problem trying to get RR to work together with GApps and couldn't get it going either.
