I have an LG V30 H932. I I was running Havoc Pie on it, but moved to LOS 16.0 for the security updates. I love LOS, but one thing it lacks is the Smart Pixels setting that Havoc had. I've tried a couple pixel filtering apps, but apparently due to some security restrictions after Android 7 these apps aren't able to filter everything and they don't work very well. Is there some way to get Smart Pixels implemented in Havoc to work on LOS 16?
Thanks!

Ok so Holi(A festival in India) is coming up & I have 4 days off, I thought this would be a nice time to upgrade to Oreo 8.1 from SlimROM Nougat 7.1.2 with my 200 apps also consisting of root, xposed & substratum dependent apps. After a quick search, I found that there were many ROMs that are marked as stable like the Pixel Experience ROM, Nitrogen OS but I've heard reports that all of them have a network standby battery drain bug. I won't have time after Holi for any ROM switching so I want to make sure the ROM I'm selecting doesn't have any bugs. Every customization feature I need is covered by xposed modules, so I don't need any ROM specific features, must just properly support substratum root mode & must be close to AOSP. Can anyone suggest a stable bug-free Oreo 8.1 ROM for the RN3 & also confirm whether the network standby battery bug exists or not? Thanks.
The network standby bug is there on nos. But the battery usage is still around the same as nougat, maybe a little lower. I think its some problem with the battery statistics where it just reports network as the main cause of drain, while actually its not.
Go for omni. If you can stay without a lot of customization then omni ir cardinal sgould be good. On top of that flash a kernel. Shadow or Agni are the ones that have goodix support in oreo. Personally agni is robust. I had been using omni with agni 12.2 and i get SOT's like 10-11 hours(moderate use).
Okay.
I really enjoy recent 8.1.0 treble roms on vince.
(thank you! devs!)
but there is one thing that I really hate that, some of apps on store that doesn't support 18:9 display.
MIUI has forced full screen options, but AOSP based(or LOS based) Rom seems doesn't have it.
Is there any way to make it to full screen?
(Not hide Nav bar or such a thing, I need to make it to 18:9 like MIUI does)
AOSP O doesn't have any options for optimize fullscreen apps on 18:9 screens yet. On further AOSP versions (starting with P) we can expect this kind of options
All AOSP-based 8.1 ROMs that I tried offered a forced fullscreen option. Just look for it in the settings. (On OmniROM it's found in the OmniGears settings menu, on others I don't know by heart. But it is there, somewhere.)
Resurrection remix has an option for that but it's not per app like in miui, it's for all apps.
Hi
Ive put Lineage 15.1 on my G5 but have now realised that it would be very useful to have the stock G5 camera app to install on here.
Does anyone have an APK from the stock ROM I could use?
cheers
mike
If this was available would it work on my Pixel 2? Though the Pixel camera app is great, particularly the auto mode I do miss the manual settings of my G5 and the other apps with manual settings have been a shadow of the G5..

Original G5 camera APK doesn't work on Lineage and other ROMs which are not based on the original. That's the reason why it's not included in Lineage/RR/Xenon/etc...
The G5 camera is completely proprietary and it doesn't have any source code available. That's why it's very hard to adapt it to different Android version like Lineage or even to a different hardware, like the Pixel 2.
For both, if you need the manual controls, you can install Open Camera: it's an open source app that provides full manual control for photos and videos.
It's quite far away from the original app in terms of user interface, stability and it requires a very good implementation of Camera2 API to enjoy full manual controls (in Fulmics, Open Camera doesn't see the second rear camera, while in Resurrection Remix it can't record videos at [email protected]).

I've tried open camera and it does leave a lot to be desired compared to the G5 app, hence why I was after it

So I've been using the Miui Camera app for a little while, just before I unlocked the phone and went to LOS16. On LOS16 I'm using the default camera app, but am missing a couple of things from the Miui Camera app. In particular the Fingerprint Shutter and the different modes (AI / portrait and such). Would it be possible to create a separate apk file of the original Poco Miui-camera, to run on Custom Roms?
Exactly my thought. This is the only thing i miss from MIUI rom! Hoping there's some way we can install the stock camera app on LOS
Its know fact that xiaomi and other brands original camera will not work on los 15, 16. Its because it uses code that is not opensource and is locked to miui system. Only alternative is google cam port, or using camera apps from google playstore like opencamera, footej camera and others.
Can you use the video stabilization in LOS 16?
Or the slow motion?
Slow motion is not working. Video Stabilization is on, at least, that is what it says. Seems to stabilize my movement.
Main reason I am on LOS 16 at the moment is Android Auto, which works there.

Here it is

Any one who has used almost every US998 firmwares and remember your experience with them?
I'm looking for a most stable, long-battery-life version despite the android version.
If you can recommend one, I would really appreciate.
By the way, there are 3 Magisk modules that I found help the battery last significantly longer: FDE.AI, Universal GMS Doze, Sysconfig Patcher. If you haven't tried them, please them a try.
US998 20h, the one right before the new Pie is extremely stable, fixes bugs, has all the Oreo camera improvements, etc.
If you've been following the V30 for the past two years, you know every new KDZ firmware of Oreo is better in stability and bug fixes than the one before. LG has done a good job with Oreo updates. So to me, sort of a silly question.
For instance US998 20f alone had this change log:
change log:
- DTS: X 3D stereo effect function has been added.
- New Always On Display options
- Selfie camera portrait mode
- Improved accessibility.
- Improved keyboard performance
- Improved the delay of keyboard input when installing multiple market apps at once.
- Photo display error in some apps since Google's latest security patch has been improved.
- Improved to keep app aspect ratio settings after app updates.
- Improved the phenomenon that fine lines are displayed on some screens when power saving mode is executed.
- Google Security Update has enhanced your phone's security.
Not to mention the further improvements which came with US998 20g and US998 20h.
_______
For Pie right now, LG doesn't have as good a record. But they are making progress with the most recent batch of Pie updates. Still, if you absolutely want most stable for US998 variant, the very last Oreo 20h is it for now.
